I actually started FF14 as a Gladiator and eventually Paladin, yet I've almost never come across people who were toxic about the blue role not adhering to their whims (most crap I've gotten was the occasional burger king mentor pulling adds ahead of me... and I wasn't even single pulling mobs so it wasn't like I was going at a prehistoric pace. I've grown comfortable with doing all large pulls apart from low level dungeons where the healer literally doesn't have toolkit to support that, so it's exceedingly rare). But then again, I've never done anything beyond extreme level content - I think most people realize your going to likely never meet again after a dungeon or raid clear in lower level stuff so hardly anyone takes it too seriously as long as your doing the bare minimum of what's respectable (proper mitigation cycling, don't cleave the party, pull what needs to be pulled, do the mechanics, have a somewhat consistent dmg rotation etc.). I'm actually very glad I did start as a typically non-mt tank because it's probably the least difficult while still teaching a player all the core essential things about how an MMO works - aggro, positioning, teamwork, how to keep other roles alive and happy. This was also my first MMO, so despite having some experience in every role now Paladin will have a special place in my heart.
Yeee it's mainly people getting angry at themselves and trying to pin it on someone else because they couldn't ever make a mistake but yeah it's not super common to find the these people but at the end of the day it's the vocal minority that gets heard the most...
Finally somebody said it ty can the healer stop trying to parse in fucking dung and heal ty also the weird hateboner for tanks in ffxiv is just a sad sight .
Yeah give the poor blue fellas a chance - some people really struggle with the concept of concentrating just a little and being aware of your surroundings rather than relying on the tank to position the boss pixel perfect. There's a reason it's not solo content - it's a team effort.
