I loved the concept and then the game itself from the moment it appeared on Kickstarter. I'm not much into app-assisted games (although, ahem, I do own Descent 2ed and Mansions of Madness 2ed) but this one really shines thematically. I mean, like you said, you are AT the crime scene! It makes total sense. And updated content? Not too worried as expansions 'Noir' and 'Welcome to Redview' (Stranger Things lite) are appearing around the new year. I've played this game several times already while poor Sherlock Holmes is still on the shelf scowling down at me...
Fully agree! I’m especially hopeful that the Stranger Things themed expansion might be a bit more kid-friendly. I’m playing this with my 6 year-old, but have to hide most of the crime scenes from him. Actually, I guess Stranger Things would be about the same... so maybe I’ll hope that it’s more inspired by ET and Goonies!
I might be a devil's advocate for this game. I have not fully formed my opinion having only played a few cases, but I find the game super fun. Like ridiculously so... but I feel kind of like the cooperative aspects suffer because of the single device, and I kind of feel like this should have just been a full app game, a lot of the cardboard elements seem well... kind of unnecessary here. And so far the cases seem a bit simple, where even some of the questions can be answered with a guess because it's obvious (having only played three though, this opinion could change drastically). All of that being said though, the game so far is a fantastic experience, and I need to try some of the harder cases before I can really judge it fully. Hoping the cases get a little more interesting as they go. :)
