A friend of mine worked on the French translation. It's his favorite of all the Chronicles of Crime as well for the reasons you mentionned! and the very cool and well-researched setting!

Each of the Millennium series has a unique gimmick.
1400 has premonitions. 1900 has puzzles. 2400 has cyber implants.
We haven’t but my wife bought 1400 immediately after reading this comment about the premonitions.
I hope they live up to the puzzles!
I had a lot of fun watching Best Thematic Board Games DRAFT with Foster The Meeple. I'm eager to find co-op playthrough with you 4 one day. Any game would be epic!

I love coop games but felt that Sherlock and Chronicles were going to be flat. Thanks for diving a bit deeper. Will have to give them a go.

I initially passed on this based on the theme alone, but after your review, I am intrigued.
We dig the setting and the crime solving so I can see if that doesn’t interest you it might be a harder sell but I definitely think it’s worth a try!

As far as app driven games go how would you rate this/series compared to Destinies.
Oh man, I LOVE Destinies so far. I think they're very different and, if you're into the app, should both be owned, but Destinies is definitely one that I'm more excited to play.
I quite enjoyed Chronicles of Crime, though I found it lacking and my gaming group wasn't impressed. I don't think I even played all the cases and haven't picked up any expansions. I too found viewing the room awkward - especially if I played solo because my memory isn't the best, I basically had to look at every item card and try to remember if it was in the room.

I felt pretty similar about the OG Chronicles of Crime - it was fun, but didn’t hook me. Super interested in their newest iterations.
Also, Batdoolin needs a Robin to really keep those criminals at bay!

Might have to give this one a try. I had the original Chronicles of Crime and although it was an interesting game, ended up trading it for the reasons you mentioned in the video. It just seemed to be missing something so wondering if the puzzle aspect "fixes" it for us.
For me it definitely did! Can’t assure you it’ll do the same but this is a great one to try!

Thanks Zachary! Hope you’re able to try it sometime! They’re not for everyone, no doubt, but they’re accessible enough I find it hard to not recommend everyone at least try it.
I got the Chronicles of Crime Millennium Series, and the base game (played one scenario), but haven't got around to playing them thoroughly.
We had the same problem with the camera, so turned it onto manual mode, rather than auto.
Wife isn't a fan of the app part. It's why we play Exits more than some of the other Escape Room games.
I should get a Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective to see if that would be more her style.
If she doesn’t like the app I can imagine SH:CD being right for her! And we have an Exit game but haven’t tried it yet. We’re really looking forward to it though!

Plus we'll definitely be picking up the news ones, including the ones that include jigsaw puzzles.
In our opinion, the best one we've played has been Dead Man on the Orient Express, which mixes puzzles with figuring out "Who Done It?"

Chronicles of crime base game is my wife's favorite games, we've been looking forward to this new series coming out. I'm not normally a co-op fan, but if the wife likes it, I like it. And this game really is great

Hey! Thanks guys for another great review. I never consider crime games when picking out a new game. Mostly, I avoid deduction style games, and it seems a lot of the crime genre have that. But, this game is much more intriguing. Is the base game necessary for 1900?
Also, I would totally go a check out Foster the Meeple and subscribe, but that won't t necessary. It was after subscribing to their channel that I found out about yours.👍
1900 Is a completely standalone game, not an expansion! :)

Sounds like an interesting game.
I am not into noir/detective games as much. I was thinking on trying Chronicles of Crime or Detective City of Angels (really expensive tho).
Yeah, definitely different games but CoC has the benefit of being really affordable.
We tried the original CoC and struggled with it. Maybe it's because we tried 3 players? Not sure. Didn't grab us but the idea/concept of the game was super cool.
I definitely think 2 is best and, again, the puzzles from 1900 help a great deal.
I don't know how to feel about app-powered board games. I'd really like to give it a try.

I wasn’t a fan of the first Chronicles of Crime. I liked the idea of the game, but felt that it was a chore to play the first one. It was good to hear some of the changes in this version and how it made you enjoy the game more.

I've been on the fence about this series for a while now. Now it's a hard choice between this and destinies.

App-based games are a hard sell for me. I feel like the app has to be flawless and not pull me out of the game.
I think they’re improving each and every time. I’m more impressed with 1900 than base chronicles of crime and even more impressed with Destinies. I know they’re not for everyone but I definitely recommend you give it a go, if given the chance, to see if it works for you. No harm if it doesn’t!
@@Tablenauts yup I'm always happy to try one out. So far I've been turned off to Warewords and Mansion of Madness becuase of the apps. I know that you get a lot more game into the box that way but sometimes I don't want the experience to take place on a screen! I will say betrayal at house on the hill could benefit from an app since the rules change with each different scenario and something like a tutorial explaining the new ruleset quickly would drastically improve that game.
