    Thanks! Modern Tp-Link adaptors have Wi-Fi passwords on the plugs, too, not just on a card. I today added an AV500 plug to my existing AV600 setup - I pressed the button under, first, the AV600 master, then, under the AV500 plug (flashed a bit then linked) _while all were plugged in._ Pairing may be viable even with newer D-Link, Netgear, etc. adaptors but compatibility may vary and/or need some web searching.

    Great video but it did not work for my customer, I had him buy a TP link two unit model such as the one in this video.. after more than an hour trying to set-up at a distance with him on the phone I gave-up, it seem that power line models work on the same electrical circuit, but when on a different circuit it may not function, so it got returned to Amazon.
    I told my customer to go and buy the Netgear wall plug wifi mesh single extender that was in-stock at his local Staples store. It has worked perfectly, my customer has an IP phone that is far from the router and requires a wired connection. With the WPS setup I was able to guide him over the phone. Really great during Covid as he is 79.

    At what point do you unplug the second plug and take it to where it is needed.

      If you press the wps button on your router and then press the wifi button on your av500 it will use your routers name and password

    I've watched three videos on these AV units but none of them show me where on the router the internet cable is connected that goes-to/comes-from the extender? Is it plugged in to any of the myriad ports on the back of the router or does the router have to pass through the extender?

      Connect to any LAN port of your router.

    I have two of the 4220, among others, that the pair button simply doesn't work! It doesn't blink it doesn't automatically pair. I need to pair them manually. Any thoughts?

    So what are the two Ethernet cables plugged in to ?

    • @TheTechGuru
      @TheTechGuru  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi. The layout in video is for demonstration purposes so can be a bit confusing i.e the extender shown on left hand side in video (AV500 appears on face) would normally be in another room.
      So to answer your question - you have a Ethernet cable which comes out from one of the ports on your router into the power line adapter (shown in video on right hand side with 500Mbps on face). The adapter which is shown in left of picture (AV500 appears on face) would normally be in another room with another Ethernet cable coming out of it and then this cable would plug into your PC/Laptop etc.
      Hope that helps. Thanks

    Hello, been given one of these, would it be possible to plug in just the extender (without the master socket) plug in a ethernet cable and use it as a wifi extender that way? basically i have a Ethernet running down to a outhouse, but no wifi and wifi would be better for phones etc.

    • @WeaponCollector

      actually just realised, No, becuase its getting the internet through the electrical wires isn't it

    i have put a dislike to your vid because you haven't even gone into how to configure the system to be used with the same ssid and password as your own.

    How fast are TP-Link powerline extenders compared to a CAT 6 cable direct?

    • @npdr6476
      @npdr6476 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cat 6 is useless at home. Cat 5/5e/6 all can work upto 1000 Mb. Theoretically you can achieve 1 Gb or more on powerline. I have AV500 devices, the measured speed is 250-330 Mb, the old AV 200 devices have 90-130 Mb. But the cheaper AV500/600 models have 10/100 connection, it limits them to 100 Mb. So be careful when buying: if you want a gigabit network buy AV2 adapters with 1000 or 1200 Mb.

    Would it work for a two floors house..?connecting down the first to the router and the second in the middle of the stairs,or in a room up>>What is the best?Thank you

      Put the second in the room up. I have one adapter on the first floor and two on the second floor. It's the same circuit, it works fine.

    Hi I’m using the t- link av500 but they are very very slow?
    I have them plugged into extension cables and not directly in the wall socket do you thing this could be the reason.
    Barry

    • @TheTechGuru
      @TheTechGuru  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Barry. Thanks for your message. I've read somewhere before that powerline adapters will only work properly if plugged into wall sockets, not extension leads. So that could be the reason they are very slow. Thanks.

      @@TheTechGuru also these perform better when plugged into the same electrical circuit...

    you don’t explain the amount of these to use on ie, such as tv and computers and you need to bear in mind some ppl don’t know what these thing are capable of doing.
    i think you should have set up the bedroom extender with a smart tv or some other device so complete novices can grasp it.

    Useless, my dog knows more about tech than this clown.
    “Wi-Fi flashing because erm it’s working”. No it’s flashing like this because you haven’t cloned the WiFi from your router.
