I don’t think you realise how close I was to throwing mine away and buying a different one. Thank you so much for doing this! Working like a dream all because of your simple step by step setup guide.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Parker Dariel I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
oh my god i just spent about 3 hours running up and downstairs trying to pair them i watched a couple of videos and this is the only one that says you can pair them next to each other and then move them thanks a lot im defiantly liking so more people can see this video
Very clear explanation. Thank you so much. I watched some videos before this and it was just a bunch of fools not showing how to set it up despite them saying they would. I've liked this so I can revert back to it if I ever run into issues!
This was extremely helpful. I used other videos but they did not explain how to connect the password using the card that came with it. I actually did not look at the contents of the card until you said to. Thanks
Brilliant. Very helpful. One add'l thought. You may want to make it clear how to change the SSID, if desired. If the main router has WPS, it's remarkably easy (proven by the fact that I could figure it out myself). :) Thanks again for the good work you're doing! Cheers from Chicago.
is it necessary to change the SSID? what if i dont have WPS button and i dont want to change it, can i still use the wifi? planning to buy one this today xD thank you..
Thank you for your help and detailed explanations! I attempted to use the direct TP Link TH-cam instructional video and they didn't even go into detail as to how to connect the two. The 3 minute video was split into two sections and so they spent all of 90 seconds rushing through the process and talking quickly. Thanks to you I fixed my connection issues! I misplaced my instruction manual I used when I first connected it and needed help... Thanks so much!!!
Thank you for the video. I was able to see the wifi password thank to this video. This product work so good. So far I'm happy. I test before with another powerline and have 2 to 4 mb and now 45 mb.
Thank you! I was struggling with the instructions (or lack of) in the box, as it just seemed too simple....but it actually was that simple. I think I was expecting the set up to be more complicated than plug in and pair! Thanks!!
Thanks. But doesn’t this create a local TP SSID/ network? How can I get a seamless WiFi throughout the house, with the same SSID as my router using the adapter & extender? .
+cloud123 ive got a question.. so if i need to pair i need to press the button on the master and then the on the extender? for it to pair? i usually play in my living room so i had wired connection and no lag at all except of servers.. recently i moved into my room n i get around 2 bar of wifi.. will this help as i wanna game in a quiet enviroment and fast internet. :) thx man..
+Leafy Pride if you looking at faster speed for gaming then i would use a cable and not wifi, wifi speed only at around 500mbps if the single week then speed will drop, you can still plug a network cable (RJ45) and still get around 500mbps and you can now buy the TP-Link 1200Mbps Gigabit poweline kits. for gaming i would never use wifi.
+cloud123 oh dont worry i always use wired connection and my.room is about 10 feet away from.my router .m the question is .. will the powerline adapter do its job and give me good internet
Thanks for the clear advice - my extender had stopped working after I moved a few things around and I couldn't remember how to re-set - this worked perfectly!
Fantastic video and explanation, far better and easier to understand than TP Links own video installation guide, I was just about to give up and get my money back. A BIG thumbs up and thank you. Could you please explain sometime how I can now change the name of my new network from tp link to my own name on a Mac Air? Thanks again
+Ffadda Dadda yes i already done a video th-cam.com/video/4S3Ays2T0Uc/w-d-xo.html this one was more about the firmware updates but does cover little on the wireless side, if not i do another video, let me know if this one help?
Great video , ppl lease continue making these videos, i wanted to know abt the follow up to this video you said towards the end of the video pairing up teo or more receivers to master plug, good luck on your channels 👍 good wishes from India
Would like to see how to add another powerline wifi extender to another living area. Is it the same setup and pairing but with a different password for the new powerline wifi extender, or do you have to set up a new SSID? Do the plugs for the extenders needed to be on the same electrical circuit breaker, the same circuit breaker would mean it's wired to the different living areas from that breaker. There are multiple circuit breakers for other living quarters in a home. Homes are not wired with one circuit breaker throughout the house for the extenders to travel through. Just my thought on this.
Hey brother.. That is a very nice video that you have posted. I have been looking for an alternative to the already existing bridge setup that I have at my place, with Ethernet cables running into almost all switch boards that I have. With that said, I am pretty much doing good with the wired connections everywhere I have the Ethernet sockets. But the master router that I have is in one of my bedrooms which is far from the living room and hence I can't help to get a good witless signal (speed and range both) in the living room, the kitchen, and the other bedroom. Sometimes the connection just cuts off. So I thought of adding a slave router and switch off the DHCP on that one and connect it to the master and have this slave one in the living room. But that didn't work either. I wanted to ask you the same thing that you shared in the video, about buying some more of that bigger power line adapters so that we could have one in all rooms. Does that solve my problem here? And have Wi-Fi connected everywhere from the same master router that I have in that bedroom? And then, will I be able to be connected to Wi-Fi all the time even if I walk from one room to another even if I have doors or walls in between? And how about streaming videos over these power line networks? And yeah, is it possible to use one power socket for more things like say if I had to charge my phone and also have the power line adapter connected ?? I am sorry about this long comment, but I seriously felt that you could help me out in this situation. Thanks mate!
Sorry for the dumb question to follow... but have to be sure before I purchase... how far apart can I have the two extenders (the first I realise right next to the router).... but the distance away from 1st extender ???? and some daft?? souls are talking about it not working due to a different electrical main ring.. I have a shed that is powered using lighting cable (dont ask!) .. surely the electric supply to the extender is there to power the extender only and has nothing to do with the electric ring within the house?? Please tell me I'm not going nuts? Like your kind and frank video xxx
+S Avgoulis as long as all the cabling from one socket to other socket are on the same fuse box then i don't see an issue with using them. I know if i plug both into an extension lead it start having issue, so make sure the first one which plug into router is on a direct socket as the other one can work on extension lead ok. But i do like to see both of them running from the main sockets for a better speed.
Hi Jack, bought a new WA4220KIT.. followed your steps. all the indicators are fine, but the extender doesnt have internet connection, no wifi, no LAN. There is no issue with the ISP, direct internet works from the router.
You may have answered this already, and I think you said you'll be making a video about it, but I wanted to ask just to be clear in my mind. I'm currently using the AV200's and they work GREAT! However, the way I have things configure in my home, I have my wifi router in the basement but the signal is rather weak upstairs. The way I understand how this 4220 kit works is it can "extend" that wifi signal. But then I read it creates it's own wifi signal and not extend or repeat the original one. Can you clear this up before I purchase this item? Thanks!
+Andrew Poletto These are common question that popping up a lot more so i will do a live chat about this tonight at UK 7pm so watch my page for a live stream at 7pm and i go over all this for you and more.
Just a quick question, after you paired them, and use it etc. And the next day you want to use it again, do you have to pair them up again or is it done?
I am about to get this set but was intrigued to see you plug into an extension lead, everything I've read says dont, it must be straight into a mains socket.
Just a hint from Denmark. In Denmark most houses are supplied with 3 powerlines ( L1,L2,L3), 1 neutral line (N) and one earth. To get this net powerline system to work well you must be sure that both parts are connected to the same power line EG; if the base is connected to a socket with Neutal and L2, then the extender should be connected to a socket with Neutral and L2. The easy way is to config in sam rail as shown at the good wideo clip from cloud. Then try different outlets in the room you want to use the extender in. In Denmark it is law to use at least 2 different powerlines for sockets in each room, hence one socket could be L1, N an other could be L2,N There are some good software to download for setting up( TL-WPA4220T KIT_V1_Powerline_Scan_Utility) ,and testing speed (tlPLC) At www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-WPA4220T-KIT.html Just for info Very best regards Lars
Can the Xbox one be wired into the TP Link so game down load times can be reduced. Thanks for a clear review of this product, am very tempted to get one.
Good Man!!!! Sorted... TP Link should have you doing the setup video for these extenders, seriously! I called TPLink...I won't bother calling them again
Hi thanks so much. I brought 2 wifi extenders - the big one, however, haven't buy an adaptor - the small one. Can I use one of the big one as a adaptor instead?
+Mia Zhou The extenders do not have the routing software for them to behave as the small one, plus there bind to the small one but not able to bind to each other.
Thanks for video. I tried setting up ethernet cable and it worked fine. Problem is when I am trying wifi setting. My laptop does not detect TP link as wifi even after multiple scan. Can you suggest what should I do?
Hi cloud123 ! I want to make sure I am doing this right as my setup is different than yours, if you don't mind. I have cable internet that goes to a cable router. Then my cable router is connected to a wireless router for my wireless. I am assuming that when I connect the power adapter, it is connected to the wireless router not the cable router, correct? On your demonstration your top 2 lights are steady and the bottom one blinks but on mine the top button is steady and the 2nd and 3rd light blink but not together?
+Richard Meyer first is your wireless router connect to your cable modem var the LAN port? you can plug the master TP-Link which is on the right in my video into the LAN port on the Cable modem or the Wireless router(if you wireless router is plug into the WAN port on your cable modem then make sure the Master TP-Link is plug into one of the LAN port on your wireless router). On the Master Tp_link top light power second light is the link between both TP-Link Boxes say ting bind together, the third light only come on if the ethernet cable plug in which in this case should be plug into your Wireless router or Cable Modem. Now on the TP-Link box in the video on the left i called this slave TP-Link top light Power, Next one down is the Bind Link to Master TP-Link next down is the internet light which only light up if a ether cable plug into it and the last light is the wireless light saying this slave TP-link is broadcasting a wireless signal. I hope this help if not send me photos or video of your setup and i then be able to advise in more details. :)
+cloud123 Thank you for your quick reply......I'm not sure of the proper lingo but I'll try. My cable router is a CISCO DPC3216 (it only has 1 yellow Ethernet socket) and I have a Cat5 cable running between there and one of the 5 sockets (but the only yellow one) on my NETGEAR R6300 Smart WIFI router. I currently have a Cat5 cable running from the Master TP-Link to one of the other 4 sockets on the wireless router. I can see the TP-Link (Slave I assume) on my network settings. When I plug the slave into a wall socket in my distant family room, the second light which I assume is the light that shows the connect to the house wired net work either does not light up on some or goes on and off on other sockets but the wireless light is flashing. UPDATE....I think I got it straightened out.....I now have a strong wireless signal in my family room.....YEAH.... My TV still won't connect with it (I haven't tried wired yet) but everything else does, so progress.......Thanks so much for your interest and help......By the way, what I changed was, I had my powerline adapter (main) plugged into a power strip. I removed it and plugged straight into a wall socket and WALLA......
I have a T link model TL WPA4220T I have watched your video which is very informative to a point. has you know you have two extenders to a box and each have its own ID password, my question do one have to keep swapping passwords every time you enter a deferent room. if so is there an easy way to change the passwords so all extenders work in unison
+David Lewis I already done a video on this question as it very common question that pop up , remember few ways you can do this, for each room on it own SSID once you set it up in a mobile devices it remember it forever, so when you move around the house the mobile device will auto change to the strong singal and does this very quickly, the best way is to change the SSID and it key to match the same as you internet router. That way when it pick the strongest signal it changes over faster as the first one may drop it connection for a few second.
If there are two ring mains in a house, one for the downstairs sockets and one for the upstairs sockets, can those power-line adaptors still connect, if one is plugged in downstairs and the other one is upstairs?
+cloud123uk I don't expect the same speed. I have to yet seen an extender do better than a modem but if you can get more than half the speed I feel OK about it.
great video. quick question. I have 2 of these plugs and cloned to a main Virgin super hub. problem begin these power line adaptors don't seem to have location awareness. I.e I could stand next to a powerline adaptor and my device would still be connected to a device with a below average signal in another room.
+toby ralph OK right the power line unit doesn't tell your devices i.e.. iPhone , table which one it should connect with, the device does, let say you had iPhone it will connect with the strongest signal first. To make this happen you need to connect with all your Wireless devices first as it create a profile on your devices once its stored it will then start looking at nearest as you move around it will hop on the next profile which showing a stronger signal and is closest to you.
Hi do you have any ideas of what to do when you have set up your wireless router and then your printer doesnt work? Is there a setting that needs to be changed. The wireless printer worked before the wireless extender got installed.
Great video but I have several TP Link units in my house. How can I move my iPad seamlessly around the house without loading the passcode for each of the TP Link units into the iPad. I.e. can I change all the TP LInk units to use a common password. Thanks
Thanks Jack. My modem is hard wired to an Apple Airport Time Capsule which provides my wifi signal. Will this product be compatible with that set up for boosting signal to a dead spot.
Hey jack. on the wireless adaptor my 2nd light flashes slowly while the others stay strong. its only a recent problem after a year of having it. any ideas ? cheers great video
Hi, thanks for the video. I'm looking to clone and extend an existing WiFi network for a friend. He has a large house with several powerline adaptors already, but from Netgear. So my question is: whether the slave unit alone (which can be bought separately) will 'see' the master powerline adapter even though it's by Netgear, or sodoall adaptors have to be from the same manufacturer? Hope you can help, and thanks in advance.
Very clear but I was hoping to see the wifi option. I've just set it up and the ethernet is working and I'm connected to the TP link wifi it produces but I want to connect devices to the home wifi not the tp link wifi itself.
I have a question. Does it matter if I do it the other way around? I mean, can connect the larger adapter (the one with 2 ports) to the modem while I use the smaller one (the one with one port) at another room away from the modem? Reason is because I need the extra port where all my network equipment is located. Thanks in advance!
You mention in this video that you are doing / have done a sibling video about how to add further TP-LINKs to the original pair - but I can not find that video - can you give me the link.
Really helpful video, thanks. I've recently changed my router/internet connection. When trying to reconfigure it, I cannot get the 2ns light down, on either plug to light up. I've pressed the rest button a couple of times, but to no avail. Do you think these are now too old and faulty? Thanks.
Mine is a Hundred and fifty! Just installed it and so far the CAT5 works on the 2nd floor. Not sure on the wifi signal yet tho. I'm not seeing the wifi broadcast of the TPLINK... hmmm
Yes I've used these for last 5 or so years. Great for low speed but recently gone to fibre 900mbs they will only deliver about 70mbs got to be a wiring problem
Thank you for your helpful video! up and running in seconds due to your help! :-) I'm having issues with it keep saying its not a good network so not at all sure why, i sthere anything I can do to get a better signal? Im not even out side of teh property so its not really extended anyhting. My TP linksys used to go across the road from the router it self and was expecting this to at least get to the front door! I have now just purphased a D-Link DIR-X5460 EXO AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Router with Gigabit Ethernet Ports, MU-MIMO, Band Steering, 1024 QAM, OFDMA, WPA3, Firewall, Parental Controls and Speedtest. Works with Alexa/Gooogle Assistant. to see if thsi will help. Have you any advise of this router to the TP-Link at all? Thanks
the master will always be the one that connect into your router to get the internet from , the second one can go any way in the house of office as longs as they on the same ring main. Most houses have 1 ring main office maybe different.
Ok thanks for that love I thought they only worked for Fibre cos I tried them with a friends connection and they did not work SKY actually very bad connection
Hello cloud123uk. I followed your instruction videos to install my tplink plus an additional extender. It was really clear and i managed to set everything up so quickly. My router does not have a WPS button and therefore i seem to have managed to get 3 internet connections. Home, the extender starter kit and then the additional extender and all with their own password. Please can you suggest what i can do to make them all the same network address with the same passphase.
I connected the device to the modem and the other to the smart tv in my bedroom. But I need another one for the computer in the same bedroom. What can I do in the this case? Do I need to buy another same kit?
Jorge Martinez you should have at least two ether port and the Wifi so you could use wifi for your PC or the second etherport , if not you could buy a hub that work too.
just bought this and can get it to pair ok, but how do you get the extended wi-fi to work?? I was under the impression it would use the same network and settings that I already use, however when I press the WPS button on my router and then the wifi button on the extender unit which is located in another room, it creates a new wifi device called tp-link_6b9100 and asks for a password. Few issues here. Is it supposed to do this, or should It connect using my existing virgin media network? If it is meant to create a new network and I am meant to use a password, is this the 16 character password found on the back of the extender unit, or on the back of the main unit plugged into my router? Not having much luck at the moment.
+VeeDubRacing Right out of the box it create a new wireless Network so new SSID and Password which are all printed on a business card within it box, it also mark on both power line boxes, you can modify it to work with Virgin own Setting which i working on a video to show you how to keep it on one Wireless Network.
if i attached network storage to my router, does it works trough powerline? or i need a some settings for that? thank you, i dont know much about computer stuff.
What is the range of this because I’ve tried to fit one in our summerhouse which is roughly 30ft away I can pair it up in the house but when I move it into the summerhouse I don’t get a connection
I don’t think you realise how close I was to throwing mine away and buying a different one. Thank you so much for doing this! Working like a dream all because of your simple step by step setup guide.
6 years later and you saved me a bunch of money. Almost replaced my unit before watching this. Thanks!
Daddy Longlegs gives a thumbs up Jack, i've upgraded but i'm donating these to my niece and she will follow your video to set up..cheers
Just bought one for my daughter's room. Your description on the set up was the best. Thank you!! It made my job so much easier!!

great setup video
thank you :)
loving the man cave - cheers mate
thank you :)
the people who do the the official tp link demo video should just use this one as the one they have is not very easy to follow .
thanks cloud123
+James Kilpatrick Thank you and your welcome and i agree lol
+cloud123 set it up this morning and worked fine after yesterday messing around trying what tp said to
+James Kilpatrick I please my video help you which give me more ideas on creating more and better video thank you :)

The way I understand how this 4220 kit works is it can "extend" that wifi signal. But then I read it creates it's own wifi signal and not extend or repeat the original one. Can you clear this up before I purchase this item? Thanks!
+Andrew Poletto These are common question that popping up a lot more so i will do a live chat about this tonight at UK 7pm so watch my page for a live stream at 7pm and i go over all this for you and more.
u have a simple and the best video all the other videos are just too stupid...Thank you
+Daniel Barnor Your welcome i do come with over 20 years in I.T and i alway building a better home network using wireless and Wire network :)
Just a quick question, after you paired them, and use it etc. And the next day you want to use it again, do you have to pair them up again or is it done?
+TooGoodForTV once you pair then and keep them switch on they keep there settings
In Denmark it is law to use at least 2 different powerlines for sockets in each room, hence one socket could be L1, N an other could be L2,N
There are some good software to download for setting up( TL-WPA4220T KIT_V1_Powerline_Scan_Utility) ,and testing speed (tlPLC)
At www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-WPA4220T-KIT.html
Just for info
Very best regards
Lars
great thanks how do i find video on adding other units
Great thanks. No I can give up on trying to just connect the 2 wifi extenders.
Perfectly delivered instructions
Thank you, nd your English is just fine. :)
+Lesley Gibbs thank you :)
Thanks a lot. Very helpful video.
+Ciaran Hudson your welcome :)
very helpful thank you very much
your welcome :)
Thanks for video. I tried setting up ethernet cable and it worked fine. Problem is when I am trying wifi setting. My laptop does not detect TP link as wifi even after multiple scan. Can you suggest what should I do?
+Sanjeev Jha can you confirm on the laptop you are still connected with cable while you trying to scan?
Nice vid bro, keep up the work!
thank you :)
I have a victorian house but I have thick walls, I use talktalk but I don't get enough wifi coverage. What wifi repeater would you recomend
Thanks so much 🙏🏻🕊️
you are good my friend
+Adam Melhuish thank you :)
very handy - beats their instructions!
+Jeremy Brinkworth thank you looking at reviewing there new out door one which can reach up to 15Km
MrUniman69 at the time of shooting this no but now learned in the last few weeks it doe work :) make sure you running the latest update for them.
this was a nice presentation. but you should have shown your modem connection speed then your wifi extender speed.
+Rich Lo I will be doing a video on broadband speed and the best way of testing them.
+cloud123uk I don't expect the same speed. I have to yet seen an extender do better than a modem but if you can get more than half the speed I feel OK about it.
Rich Lo i do some test using the cable plug in to one end and also the wifi test too. Post video Tuesday
great video. quick question.
The wireless printer worked before the wireless extender got installed.
yes as everything working go through you printer set again as if you just bought it, and then you be good to go
Great video but I have several TP Link units in my house.
Hi I got a bungalow and my PlayStation 5 in the back room and my rooter in my front room will powerline work what range are they
Yes it will work the latest version now do gig over the powerlines now
Saved me from throwing the thing out the window - cheers!
Thank you,it's very useful to me
+choi Kayu your welcome :)
Hey jack. on the wireless adaptor my 2nd light flashes slowly while the others stay strong. its only a recent problem after a year of having it. any ideas ? cheers great video
I going to do a video this so will post link later :)
Thanks.
Very clear but I was hoping to see the wifi option. I've just set it up and the ethernet is working and I'm connected to the TP link wifi it produces but I want to connect devices to the home wifi not the tp link wifi itself.
All you need to do is set the wifi SSD and passcode the same on both devices your tp-link and home boardband :)
I have a question. Does it matter if I do it the other way around? I mean, can connect the larger adapter (the one with 2 ports) to the modem while I use the smaller one (the one with one port) at another room away from the modem? Reason is because I need the extra port where all my network equipment is located. Thanks in advance!
+Albert Garcia no the smaller one is the master and run as a router, if you try using the other way around you get no internet.
+cloud123 ok thanks for your reply. Guess I'll have to pick up an ethernet switch as well for more ports.
Thanks I found it so helpful and successful. What I'd like to know now is how do I add another tp link to what's there in use?
THX, HELPED LOTS FOR ME,
your welcome :)
你好,我的朋友,哈哈O(∩_∩)O~
Thanks. Helped a lot!
Your welcome :)
You mention in this video that you are doing / have done a sibling video about how to add further TP-LINKs to the original pair - but I can not find that video - can you give me the link.
on the video on top right corder click on the i icon and you see all the l inks to the other video's :)
Great job,,,,,,,,

Your welcome
Really helpful video, thanks. I've recently changed my router/internet connection. When trying to reconfigure it, I cannot get the 2ns light down, on either plug to light up. I've pressed the rest button a couple of times, but to no avail. Do you think these are now too old and faulty? Thanks.
Thanks man! great help. What about the mac? can i just enter the pw on the Wifi info card to connect to the internet?
+Sebastian Tse yes :)
My house is over 100 years old and has very old wiring. Would this stell be a valid option.
Mine is a Hundred and fifty! Just installed it and so far the CAT5 works on the 2nd floor. Not sure on the wifi signal yet tho. I'm not seeing the wifi broadcast of the TPLINK... hmmm
Yes I've used these for last 5 or so years. Great for low speed but recently gone to fibre 900mbs they will only deliver about 70mbs got to be a wiring problem
did you try this to a separate electric breaker?
Thanks
Hello. do you need to keep the cable connected to the router In at all times or not?
great guide-thanks
thank you :)
Is it possible to connect the one adapter to the router in an upstairs office and plug the other one in a downstairs office?
the master will always be the one that connect into your router to get the internet from , the second one can go any way in the house of office as longs as they on the same ring main. Most houses have 1 ring main office maybe different.
Hi there can you tell me if these TP Link Powerline Adapters will they only work with Fibre Optic Broadband connections?
no they work on all sorts of connection types and speeds.
Ok thanks for that love I thought they only worked for Fibre cos I tried them with a friends connection and they did not work SKY actually very bad connection
ChazzDesigns i
Lovely video thank you. I am adding extras to an existing set up. I have another WPA4020 and 2 PA4010's. I have a feeling all is not well. HELP! tia
Hi Jack, my TP Link TL-WPA4220 just isn’t connecting like it used to. I’d be happy to pay you for some guidance!
+Jorge Martinez have you got your smart TV plug in using the Internet Port (RJ45) or wireless?
I connect the TP-link to the wall power and the cable from the device to the tv
+VeeDubRacing Right out of the box it create a new wireless Network so new SSID and Password which are all printed on a business card within it box, it also mark on both power line boxes, you can modify it to work with Virgin own Setting which i working on a video to show you how to keep it on one Wireless Network.
do you have to put a ethernet from your router into the small one
all the poweline have ethernet port so yes :)
if i attached network storage to my router, does it works trough powerline? or i need a some settings for that? thank you, i dont know much about computer stuff.
+Nikko Yuvonda it should work over the power line as the power line boxes doesn't have a firewall so it shouldn't block anything.
What is the range of this because I’ve tried to fit one in our summerhouse which is roughly 30ft away I can pair it up in the house but when I move it into the summerhouse I don’t get a connection
