      Truth is, Dave was way better at guitar than Kirk!
      Dave had so much great stuff that the other members, Cliff and Lars got jealous and felt like Dave was stealing the show, so they talked James into getting rid of him!
      Kirk is a horrible guitar player! One of few that actually got worse at guitar over the years!
      He can’t play any of Dave’s solos live and can’t even play the Justice Solos live!
      In fact, I’d bet my life that Kirk did not write those solos, the Black album too! If you ever watch Kirk in the studio trying to make a solo, he sound god awful!!!! I almost gaurantee that someone else wrote those solos and Kirk got the credit.
      They tried to reach Kirk the solos for playing live but he can’t do it! He plays horrible crap instead!
      He plays out of tune and over bends notes until they are horribly out of tune to the song!

      Lars knows Music, Arrangement is a key part of music after all. Those Metallica Songs wouldn’t be what they are without Lars. And He does often tweak stuff like riffs (Enter Sandman for Example), so he does have a semblance of Musical intuition when he hears music.
      Though I do Amend most of my statement, I don’t truly believe he seriously thinks Dave didn’t contribute at all; he did Credit him on the songs after all. I think he just tripped up when he was trying to compare the Old lineup to the New one with Kirk and Cliff because the Interviewer asked them how the band’s Sound Changed with the Line-up changes.

    • @mehegama
      @mehegama 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@deletedhero5579 well these things are pretty well known by now. Mustaine wrote the 4 known songs in Kill em all. He wrote the main riffs and the solos and the others just helped to refine the arrangements (of course in the album they added the mid slection to the the four horsemen and also changed lyrics but the music on those is Mustaine's. We need to note here that Hit the lights, Motorbreath and No remorse was coowritten by Hugh Tanner and their drummer at the time, in Leather Charm. These credits were never given. Also the main riff in Ride (verse) and the bridge (the "spider chord" section) was Mustain's, plus all of Call of Ktulu (both the acoustic part and the main riff). Mustain has reused all these riffs in various Megadeth songs. Also there is a bridge riff in Lepper Messiah. You can hear it in early demo tapes, it is on youtube.
      The point is that Lars has put his name on all of these songs, which is ridiculous, since he offered nothing other than maybe arranging ideas, which is really not songwritting.

    Lars : When Kirk and Cliff joined Metallica they contributed to more of the song writing of the band , where the other two members didn't . WTF is this guy talking about ? I mean Ron McGoveny didn't contribute lyrics or Riffs , but Mustaine absolutely DID . This just shows what a spiteful calculating jerk Lars was , and still is . It's no wonder Dave Mustaine has despised Lars for 38 years now . Dave Mustaine delivered 2 complete songs in 1981 to Metallica / Jump In The Fire and Mechanix that had nothing to do with Metallica . He then Co Wrote the Four Horseman . Mustaine then Co Wrote Phantom Lord and Metal Militia with James on the Kill Em All Album that had nothing to do with Ron McGoveny , Cliff , Kirk , or Lars . That's why recently Lars has harassed Mustaine into agreeing to add Lars' name to the writing credits of Phantom Lord and Metal Militia that Lars never had anything to do with writing . Mustaine told him to FU basically . Dave told Lars to go harass James to add Lars name on those 2 songs instead 😂 Dave Mustaine Co Wrote Riffs on the Ride The Lightning Album as well / Call Of Ktulu , Ride The Lightning songs . Metallica added Mustaine Riffs to Lepar Messiah on the Master Of Puppets album too .

      Mustaine has credit co-writing 4 songs on kill em all , and 2 on ride the lightning. Compared to the rest of catalog up to that point it wasnt much. You are trying to make it sound like mustaine created what metallica is and that can be any further than the truth, if anything cliff contributed more to Metallica change of style music, heck even kirk . So he wasn’t really lying. Mustaine was in metallica for not that long. Mustaine and the guys in metallica have been friends for at least 20 years at this point. Even before some kind of monster documentary. But people like to recreate a story and romanticize something that is not true. The reality is that METALLICA WAS BIGGER THAN EVER WITHOUT MUSTAINE.

      Exactly. I love Metallica, but Lars is often a jackwad and shows a high level of delusion here when he says, "the members before Kirk/Cliff didn't contribute...". Wait, what? I guess you quickly forgot that Mustaine was an original member who wrote the lyrics and/or guitar parts on 33% (6 of 18) of your first 2 records. Mustaine wrote at least 6 of the songs on the first 2 records, and essentially contributed a massive amount to your success in live performances pre-Kill Em All, which landed you the first album deal? GTFO. For those that didn't know this, Mustaine is credited on 4 out of 10 (40%) of the (non-covered) songs on Kill Em All, and 2 out of 8 (25%) on Ride the Lighting (long after Mustaine's departure they still stole his music), which is contrary to Lars' narrative here, e.g. they had so much contribute from Kirk, they were STILL using Mustaine's talented work after he was wrongly fired....

      This was fresh, i agree they were not fair to Mustaine, both camp were pretty immature and talking shit on bits.
      They were 20-21 then.
      Its not good but looking back to it you can't hold a grudge on everyone's shoulder 40 years later.
      I did shit in my teens, i said things somewhat exagerated things i probably would not say in my early 20's with a slightly erroned view.
      So everyone s did.
      I would be sorry for the guy that keep that grudge after you matured.
      However Lars in MOP said in video and stuff that he absolutely loved Megadeth and Dave s music.
      Since the days of internet, even though i have interviews of 1988 where Lars cover this..
      There s a lot of backstage pics of Dave hanging on with Lars as early than 1985 , Cliff and even James all through the mid , late 80's to even woodstock 1999 who resurfaced.
      So... Deep inside i think there s still a certain respect and love between them.
      Why you would go backstage at metallica show or metallica members see Dave at Megadeth shows ( Lars even singing Arnachy in the UK with Dave in Monster of Rock 1988 ) and be backstage if they hated each other that much.
      Media amplified this.
      Sure they had few issues they didn't really resolved but that was way over exagerrated

Plus, I think that Mustaine is the one who wants to be in charge and Lars is also the one who wants to be in charge and when you put two people like that together there is going to be a lot of drama and clashing. You just can’t have two people like that in a band. Mustaine made his comeback and showed everyone how great he was….. Metallica showed everyone how great they were. So we, the fans, got the best of both worlds.

    • @timsimmons9995
      @timsimmons9995 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed.

  • @TheNightInsideTheFir
    @TheNightInsideTheFir 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Pretty funny how Lars says that Mustaine didnt put anything in for the band the first couple years yet some of the best riffs off kill em all and ride the lightning were written by him. GRANTED, this was 35+ years ago and i believe they burried the hatchet but still lol

    • @HeathenDance
      @HeathenDance 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Man, in the album Kill Em All, they send special thanks to Mustaine and Ron McGovney. I don't think James, Lars, Cliff - much less Kirk - ever had a problem with Mustaine. Dave kept bashing them regularly, both in interviews and in live concerts, in the 80's, but they never responded to the provocations. There's an interview in which Cliff says about Mustaine's provocations: "He runs his mouth. And we run our business." Ahah.

    • @citylights8521
      @citylights8521 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That hatchet gets buried and then exhumed depending on what schizomood Dave is in at the moment. Metallica would’ve made it without his contributions, get over it. They had Seek and destroy they had Whiplash they had Hit the lights. Enough to make them stand out and enough to inspire Slayer and Anthrax and to light the spark of a new genre. Dave’s songs were great but they were not the single reason they got signed.

    “Kirk and Cliff contribute to the song writing while those other guys didn’t” no wonder Dave hated this twat. Four Horsemen, Phantom lord, Metal militia, Jump in the fire, ride the lighting, call of Ktulu, Seek and destroy solo, Leper messiah( questionable ) all these have Dave’s credits on them. If you take the length of time Dave was in the band compared to Kirt Dave actually has a much higher song writing credit than the 40 years Kirk has been in the band

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I agree with that, but Kirk with his own style, plays a role in how the songs sound like. It's not just about the writing process it's also about how it's interpreted

    • @ckmoore101
      @ckmoore101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ Thing is, the whole debacle with Kirk losing his phone with all of his "ideas", which only amounted to a collection of riffs, and that leading to his very limited creative contribution to the recent album, lends credence to the rumor, that he is not much involved in song writing, or song structure. He just provides solos to already mostly completed songs. And I don't think its controversial, to say that contribution peaked in the 90's.

    • @simplebutnotsolongname6642
      @simplebutnotsolongname6642 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Higher Songwriting Credit than Kirk? pls. Dave was in the band for a year and had 4 credits on Kill 'em All; On RTL, Kirk was in the band of for a year too, and Had Four on that album as Well. Dave had Two more on RTL, while Kirk Has Truck Loads more after that. Get your facts Straight.
      And I think Lars fucked up on that. He was asked How the Band's Sounds Changed after the line-up change and he felt he had to Compare the line-ups to illustrate how, and he ran his mouth a little bit longer than he should. I don't think he honestly Believed that part about Dave, otherwise he wouldn't have Credited him at all and still to this day.
