Metallica is brilliant at marketing themselves but they haven’t produced a great album since the late 80s.
They turned into exactly what they claimed to be against at the beginning of their career and a lot of their fans just continue make excuses for them. They love the money and the attention just like everybody else.
Being a drummer for the past 42 years ... I do give Lars a lot of respect in many different ways " a musician have to be a musician , a great business man and also live his life in style " ... and I do all that as well ... life is great !

At the LOAD Era, Lars alowed to be at himself to be so egocentrical and controversial by any means. Thats for sure; Lars always was and still is to be on that way. I asume that inside at the Justice Era, he started to be more egocentrical, but inside at the Black Album era; he was as like it as a rivet. But at the Load Era he Evolved at himself by any means.
Thats why he and anybody else from the band, doesn't want to leave Metallica.

The judgement. He has been making money and has been successful for a really long time. A 12 million dollar home and art is earned and deserved if he wants it. If you had that much money you would have it too.
I am not into paintings but if you want to invest your money, a good idea is to buy paintings. So is not at all a stupid idea. Today there are companies that turn paintings to Actien and they sell them to average people.
One thing about Lars compared to other drummers. Most drummers barely see a fraction of what the band makes. Lars is practically the richest drummer out there.

Metallica prob would not have been as successful as it is without Lars. Sad to say it, but I do have to give him credit for his savvy business skills and his stellar promotion abilities. Without him, James, Kirk, and Cliff would have been lost in the business of music.
Slayer and others didn't have Lars yet they did very well. And not all of them sold out to the music industry like hos.
