    I'm a beginner, and this helps so much! I am planting some Border Mix Sunflowers and some Candytuft flowers. This helps so much, and I thank you very much! I love flowers but I have never had the chance to plant some, and now I can, and I am barely 11 so I hope I can do well and continue to plant flowers!

    I've enjoyed gardening at the age of 5 and and here I am, 13 and still motivated! I'm moving to a new house in within around 1 to 2 months and I've really need to learn how to grow flowers. I've never grew flowers before which actually surprises me! Anyways, thanks again! :)

    I just came across your video and I am very happy I learned something new. A week ago, I planted my flower seeds for the first time but took them straight to the greenhouse. I guess, the problem was that since it is already very hot in the South the poor little things just died. I'll try to grow some inside my house first and place them in front of the window and see if this time they'll do good. Thanks!!!

    • @JanettesCozyCorner
      @JanettesCozyCorner  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Starting inside may help, at least until they're a bit stronger and more established! Just make sure to water them once the soil starts getting a bit dry, may have to be every other day! Just try things out and see what works for you! =)

      It really depends on what zone you live in, here in Chicago we still get pretty cold nights in spring and if it drops below 30 degrees (I think) it could kill off all young/new plants and flowers! I begin planning in the beginning or middle of May! Hope that helps! =)

    • @JanettesCozyCorner
      @JanettesCozyCorner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This year I planted the cosmos seeds and the zinnia seeds in the ground and they've been doing awesome! I water mine heavily about 1-3 times a week, depending if we get any rain that week. I think under-watering these types of flowers is worse than over-watering, at least with the cosmos and zinnias. With other indoor plants though, I always water once a week and I determine how much water on whether the soil is dry or still moist! Plant care is definitely a learning process! =)

  • @jodyjansa3207
    @jodyjansa3207 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, so when you grow your cosmos and they’re all super close, do you separate those? Like how on packages, they’ll say to plant them 8” apart, do you do that? Or do you keep them clustered tight? I always feel like I’ll kill them when they’re so tight together bc they’re so delicate and their root systems are intertwined.

    • @JanettesCozyCorner
      @JanettesCozyCorner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I don't space out my seeds of plants as directed, and I've never had a problem. The cosmos do tend to get mixed up with each other and a bit tangled, but I like that look as I feel like it looks more like a field of wild flowers, so I guess it's all personal preference on how you want your garden to turn out!
      Cosmos look a lot more delicate then they really are, once they start growing their stalks become extremely thick and durable! So don't worry too much and just enjoy the experience, learn from any mistakes you might make and just adjust as needed the following year! (I always take a few times out each season to jot down what's working and what's not, what plants/flowers are easy and which are more difficult and then I'll look back at those notes the following season) I'm planning on starting a veggie garden this year, which I'm nervous for but excited about! I'll make sure to film a few videos on that and this years flowers as well! =)

      I would recommend pots with holes, just to prevent overwatering and too much moisture, especially with seeds, they'll begin growing mold if there's too much moisture. There are some pots that you can drill into though, which I'm planning on doing a video on! =)

      No problem! I still have A LOT to learn when it comes to planting, but I've kind of just learned as I've gone, I've done things wrong, but figured new things out that way. Don't be nervous, just have fun with it and if something fails, you can try again! I'm going to be giving a veggie garden a try next year, which I'm nervous about but I'm also excited! =)
