      11 months labrador retriever staffordshire terrier mix puppy and he started to be very fussy in the crate. I put him into the crate after I play with him, train him, and walk him, he starts barking for 5 -10 mins before he settled. No clue where he went wrong.

    My puppy seems to absolutely lose her mind and PANIC the second she realizes the door is closed
    I have been putting her food in there and she can go in there and get put in there no problem but the second the door is closed or held closed she FREAKS
    She goes in there for every nap and gets closed in there for every nap but the second she's awake and sees the door closed she panics
    When she sees the door is closed she immediately starts screeching and digging at the door and walls

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds like you'll need to work on desensitizing the door closing process so she feels better about it. We can help you with that as part of our mini course on crate training. courses.howtotrainadreamdog.com/crate-training-course

    I got a 5 1/2 month old Weimaraner puppy from a puppy mill. I feel like I paid her ransom and rescued her. She was not socialized but is quickly coming around. She is terrified of her crate , it’s a large size. I feed her and put treats in her crate and if I sit down in view she will eat nervously and I can close the door. She starts to panic if I leave her line of sight. She paws at the bars . I’m afraid she will injure herself. I think she has scars on her feet possibly from her previous incarceration. When I hear her pawing I return and sit down and wait for her to stop . Then I let her out . I’ve been just leaving her loose in my room with my other crated dog if I have to go out. She doesn’t tear anything up. Yet . I sometimes will find pee and poo on my floor when I get home. My other dog loves her crate and will nap in it by choice. I don’t know how to crate train her to like her crate and do not want to further traumatize her. She’s been sleeping in the bed with me. Help!

      It sounds like you're on the right track by trying to make it a positive place for her, but if she's panicking in the crate we need to try a different approach. She's not going to learn to love it by repeatedly having scary experiences in the crate. We can help you with this step by step guide to crate training. You'll learn how to detect panic, what to do about it and how to do the games in a positive way so she learns to love it. courses.howtotrainadreamdog.com/crate-training-course

    I just got a 10 week old Pomeranian pup, and the first 2 days she was fine with the crate. But now every 2 hours she cries, whines, and bites on the crate. I play with her and feed her within the crate but she now seems to dislike it😢

    I have a 12 week old Maltipoo. The first nights on his crate he slept with no problem. But these past few days he has been having accidents in his crate. I make sure to take him out to potty before bed time but it keeps happening. Could it be the schedule?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good thinking, Lia! Yes it sounds like he's a heavy sleeper so you might need to set an alarm to take him out to prevent an accident. It won't be this way forever, but maybe a few more weeks.

    Should my 9 week old puppy stay in her crate while I am at work, or can I have her in a small dog pen? I come home during my break midday to let her out, play, potty, and eat. I worry she is in her crate too much throughout the day and then Im trying to train her to sleep in the crate as well. She really doesn’t like her crate right now, and she is not interested in the treats I try to give her for reward.

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dogs should always be in the crate when you are away from home. This keeps the dog and your home safe. However, a 9 week old puppy has a lot of needs so you'll probably need to line up some extra help to drop in on her. You also don't want to put her in the crate if she's not comfortable in there, so you could be creating more of a negative association. If you can't put her in the crate yet, you can use the pen, but you'll still need someone to take her out very frequently so she doesn't have accidents and create a habit of going potty inside. This video can help you! th-cam.com/video/Vcl33se8dEA/w-d-xo.html

    I have an 8mth old puppy, she is half Jack Russell and Pug. She absolutely dislikes the crate or being confined. She howls for about 15 or 20 minutes. We are struggling to get her to relax and enjoy the crate. Please help

      We know the struggle! It can take some time to get your puppy used to the crate. You need to really focus on helping your puppy build their confidence in the crate. We just launched a mini course for those who are struggling with crate training. We'd definitely recommend it for you and your pup: courses.howtotrainadreamdog.com/crate-training-course

    should puppy naps always take place in the crate?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When the puppy is young and still new to the crate, we recommend all naps and nights in the crate (as long as there's no panic). After the dog is older and crate training is fully established, you can start to allow naps in other places if it works well in your household.

    What is the snuggle puppy?

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  ปีที่แล้ว

      The snuggle puppy is a soft toy that has a heartbeat and warmer inside. It's best for very young dogs who are leaving their mama and littermates. It can mimic the feel of littermates and help them feel more comfortable being alone. Here's a link to one: www.howtotrainadreamdog.com/snuggle_puppy

    My puppy Coco is 7weeks she started sleeping in my daughter room since it was spring break now that school about to start I need her to sleep in the living room but she's will whine until someone comes to get her out and she'll probably be at home by herself for at least 5hrs. Help!!

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog
      @HowToTrainADreamDog  ปีที่แล้ว

      At 7 weeks old she will probably not be able to go for 5 hours with a potty break, some food and exercise and engagement with humans. You might need to find a pet sitter or dog walker to come relieve her. This won't be forever but for her age it's important.

    • @HowToTrainADreamDog

      The crate is like a crib for a baby - it keeps your puppy safe and helps them rest! Dogs naturally seek out these spaces when they want to sleep or take a break from busy households. When done well, crate training is a gift to a dog!
