- G'Day Viewers! This week it's this Matchbox Superfast Renault 5TL that Johnny V sent me. It looks to have been the victim of a manufacturing fault from new. Oh, and the return of my high-end Special Effects. Sorry.

On the windshield removal, I've seen some videos where they use a soldering iron with a piece of copper tubing just big enough to fit over the rivet (s) and melt it .

Thank You Mike! I've never filmed myself doing the 'digital' part of the carton / decal restoration as I'm always worried it'll make the videos too long, but I like the idea of doing a carton and decal specific detailed video. Thank you for the suggestion, I'm going to do it.

Thank you! It's really not terribly difficult Scott, just a bit of patience lol. Another viewer (Mike) has suggested I do a video just on the cartons and decals in more detail, so I'm going to do that.

Mein Kraft. Wasn't he a German artist? You did a fabulous job on the R5. We had an R10 in the 70s but it succumbed to the Canadian Winters, after 8 years. My brother was doing a spring-clean and went to lift the floor mats. Only to find there was no floor!
Yes he was, did some wonderful things with cheese. Thank You Gerry! The lesson your brother no doubt learned was don't clean anything ever again right?

I had this casting and painted it with a brush in a fetching shade of BL beige when I was about ten years old. I thought I still had it but can't find it in my boxes of old cars so I have no idea what happened to it.
It'll be in there somewhere. Probably. My original blue one is in there somewhere, I guess it'll present itself one day.

I've never seen those variants you showed in the video, except metallic blue. seems they were for other markets than central europe? ah, whatever.
I have two of those rallye things, one was stepped upon it seems. I want to turn it into that LeVan model, somethign an american body shop company created to reminsce the plushy US vans of that time. so the Renault 5 received closed side windows with bubble vents and a dark brown metallic paint with too many coloured stripes, and a plushy interior. it looks so over the top it can only be meant as a parody...
Thank you Lothar. Me too, I had no idea there were so many of them. Tried to find a pic of the LeVan and couldn't, sounds so awful it'd almost be awesome.
@@PBsRetroRestorations I saw it mentioned in that german classic car magazine I read, in the afterwake of an article about the typical US vans culture, when the car brand started to offer their own vans creations as a basis for custom vans. :)
