      I posted you a cheque last week, has it not arrived yet? Duck noises? I'm gonna have to go and check it now. I worry that I've said something awful and missed it cos I sped it up, and someone will slow it down, reveal how awful I really am and I'll get cancelled. Again. 🤣 Thank You CPF Mark.

    I love his casting. I've got one from childhood, in narrow wheel Superfast form, without opening doors, that I've restored but I did it in pearl white.
    As always, great work.

    Very nice, PB! I grew up in the 1970s and as a kid, was only aware of this model from the 1978 catalog (if I recall the correct year) that listed all the models in the 1-75 range made until that year. I knew of the other mid 1960s American cars including the #31 Lincoln Continental that I was very fortunate to buy new old stock in 1977 or so at a local pharmacy, long after it had been discontinued in the range. That car was loved beyond belief, and the opening trunk / boot was a marvelous feature that gave me visions of an important businessman being met at the airport arrivals by a driver, and all his luggage put into the back of that car. I also had seen a few beater examples of the Impala taxi, but I had never seen the Grand Prix. A friend had told me he had seen one at a garage sale, and as he was quite artistic, drew the front end....I always LOVED the stacked headlamps and split grille on the mid-1960s Pontiacs, and it was painful knowing it was out of my reach! I saw an actual photo in a book on Matchbox by the early 1980s, and finally got my own examples (yes, had to buy multiples!) when opportunity knocked around 1984 and I found a mail order seller. I am glad that it is such a seminal model in the Matchbox range that Matchbox decided to do a tribute model in the Moving Parts series. This is just a great customization. Back in ye olden days, Matchbox was so conservative that this color run ran from 1964 through 1970!!! Heck, today, you have about a month to find the lastest model / color on the pegs and it is no longer at the retailer....just online dealers and scalpers. Thanks for sharing this work!

      Thank you. It seemed that so many newsagents and the like had new-old stock for years. This is one I'd never had in any form before, so I had to get it. Like the Lincoln it'd look good with proper detailing, I've done the Lincoln a couple of times it's a favourite too. Thank you for watching and your comment, I enjoy reading other peoples stories.

      Thank you very much. I LOVE Molotow chrome, it's the best. I use the refills in my airbrush especially for doing Corgi sandwich chassis and old Ertl bases, you cannot beat it. I just feel for the 'factory' look on these old ones, it's too shiny sometimes.

    Great job on the restoration Pete. Just ran across your channel and thoroughly enjoyed the video. I also have a red GP just like the one you restored and was thinking about restoring mine also, while watching your video. I still have many of my Matchbox cars from the sixties and think that it would be fun to restore them, although I don’t think I would have the patience like you to do them. Again, it was fun watching and I subscribed. PS, if you have the white 65 Mustang fastback to restore, which I also have, I would love to see you do that one.

    • @PBsRetroRestorations
      @PBsRetroRestorations  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you Randy! It is fun, it's really good to have a hobby, helps me mentally to have have something to drift off into. You should absolutely have a go at it, and as for paitence, it helps but there's no rush, I do them in my own time (generally) That's why I try to show everything that goes wrong as well as right to encourage others to try the hobby and show it doesn't always work out first time but you can always have another go. I've done the Lesney 65 Mustang a couple of times (I'll try and post links, not sure if you can do that in comments) but if they don't work check my other videos, the one I do to factory is the 'Ford Versus Ferrari' video, and one I do a Code 3 to is the 'Maleny Mustang Makeover' video. I'm so happy to hear you thought my video was fun, that's what I aim for most of all, thank you for your considered feedback and thank you for subscribing!

    aw, you scored a grong pree with the door steps still intact... many have them broken, even missing. must be some problem with casting.
    anyway, love the blue. I once did one in Revell french blue, worked too. :) I'm not sure if these GPs had that much chrome trim to begin with. sometimes less is more.
    and the regular wheels all stood so low, even with intact springs. real lowriders there. :) makes them look sleek.

    The grand prix is not identical to lesaber but it's close. Did they make a 69 lesaber? My brother had as his first car a 69 lesaber, and I'd love a toy version of it. It would be a repaint to make it look like my late brothers actual real car.

    • @BanazirGalpsi1968
      @BanazirGalpsi1968 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Brothers car was silvery grey wth fake leather roof. And he drew his signature 4 pad" bear paw print" on both right and left front hood ends. ( It looks like the slightly squashed Micky mouse hoops but three small ovals on top instead of two. And the big oval on the bottom. No claws.)

    • @BanazirGalpsi1968
      @BanazirGalpsi1968 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      His nick name was yogi bear. And we called his car the bearmobile. Unofficially it was also called Cindy. As in Cindy bear.

    • @BanazirGalpsi1968
      @BanazirGalpsi1968 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The interior of my brother's car was black leather based. Black bucket seats, black backseat. Red shag rug under the back window camouflaging speakers for his custom stereo setup. He had a cassette deck installed aftermarket. In a really good sound system. At the time he was working for Rochester breaking clutch and as it turns out the replacement brake shoes he bought for it he'd made himself. He bought from The company store only to be shocked to find his own Maker's Mark on them. That car lasted the good 5-10 years, he drove it all the way from New York to Missouri and back and all the way to Texas. It had excellent gas fuel mileage as well.

I used to play my iTunes in the background while working on cars, but of course when I uploaded them TH-cam'd ping me for copyright, so I had to mute them and put royalty free music. Which no one liked. So I started doing my own sound effects, and desperate times called for them in this one, I know they're awful! Thank you very much for an honest opinion!

    First, you talk too much, then you don't put the miniature in its original color, so it loses its initial value.

    • @PBsRetroRestorations
      @PBsRetroRestorations  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah, I know and I often tell myself that and make a video where I don't talk at all and people don't like that either. Can't win 🙂 And as for original colours, I figure the second I pull it apart any historical or monetary value has been lost anyway so sometimes I like to have a bit of fun with colours. Appreciate your honest feedback and thank you for giving the video a go, even if it wasn't to your tastes.
