    Loved the content and finding out your battery's state, I'm encouraged a bit more about my own IoniQ 5 battery. Testing the battery for a used EV might not be a bad idea. Thanks for this one

      Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I bought my car used at carmax and had no idea how the battery was but bought it anyways. 2 years later and lots of fast charging; it’s only lost 5% of its full capacity. I love it.

    Another use of this product would be to confirm to a customer whether a repair shop is correct about needing a battery replacement/repair. If someone was suspicious about the repair shop. Since that would be very expensive.
    One bit of feedback on the interview: make sure to let your subject speak more than you. They are the expert. Breathe! ; )

      Thanks! I appreciate the feedback! I’ll get better at this if I get more opportunities for interviews haha. You could definitely tell I’m new at this and way too nervous. Repair shops is definitely a great use case for this!

    Hey Carlos, can you compare the numbers to the values reported on the CAN-Bus using a cheap OBD2 dongle and a free app? Somehow I have mixed feelings about this statement of "we don't only read out the values, we have better models"...

    • @ExploreWithCarlos
      @ExploreWithCarlos  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I can definitely try. I personally don’t have a OBD2 but I know a buddy who has one for his Ioniq 5. Let me see if I can reach out to him and get back to you. Personally the reason I never got one was because a lot of people say they aren’t accurate and you’d have to drain your battery to 1% then charge it. It’s a whole ritual lol. But let me see what I can do.

      Hi, Davide (the guy in the video) from Voltest here. I'd be happy to answer any of your questions about my statement. Can you tell me what specific doubts you have about the differences between a standard OBD2 dongle and Voltest?

    • @geraldh.8047

      They just put the numbers you can read with CarScanner in a nice PDF and charge money for it.

    • @DaOptika

      @@DavideGiacobbe-fl9hc Hey Davide, in the video you were just connecting your OBD dongle, not doing any charging or discharging, so your estimation must be 100% based on values you could read out of the CAN Bus. So I don't really understand how your models of calculating SOH from available values differs from what the Control Unit of Hyundai is calculating as SOH, and especially why yours is better.

    I love the more laid back atmosphere of your videos Carlos. Props to Davide and his company as well! I love looking at the OBD information in my ioniq 5. My OBD reader says 100% SOH at 25k miles but who knows how accurate that is
    Has Davide contacted Recurrent? Could partner to offer the battery status

    Nice job Carlos! Do you normally charge to a higher state of charge in the winter due to cold weather loss of range? Just curious. This is my first winter with my Ioniq 5.

    • @ExploreWithCarlos
      @ExploreWithCarlos  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching! I just have weird charging habits. It all depends on if I’m traveling a lot that week. In the summer I usually get 250+ miles at 80% but since I got new tires and the winter weather is here I’ve been getting only around 175-200 miles. So it really just depends on your needs. Some weeks I travel more than usual and charge it up to 95%.

    If they are just targeting repair shops and dealers they are missing a massive market. Really the EV market do not necessarily rely on the old school approach to car sales. They should be looking for independent contractors they can set up in key areas to provide testing to all these different places. You’d charge a diagnostic fee to those places then you always own your equipment or the independent contractors can buy the equipment and they can pay a monthly or per use fee. Another example of brilliant developers and poor business application.

    • @ExploreWithCarlos
      @ExploreWithCarlos  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Completely agree that they are missing out on different markets! Hopefully the read this and plan on expanding.

      Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate your suggestions, though hearing “poor business application” isn’t pleasant for a young company like ours. We just launched Voltest in October 2024, and as a two-person team, we’re focusing on one step at a time. We did consider the independent contractor route you mentioned, but we have to prioritize. It’s great to hear feedback like yours because it helps us understand where the biggest market needs really are.

    BS. The only way to test remaining energy in a battery is to drive it under the correct conditions and calculate. This "oh but we drove a similar car to ensure that the BMS values are correct" is just.... weill I think I'll just stop here.
