@AllRandomThings that is a huge difference. I was talking about Pixel 2 which mine sees reduced battery life after years of use but everything else is just as good as the day I got it.
@AllRandomThings yes as soon as I get a battery my phone will be as good as new. I am conflicted whether to keep using the P2 or upgrade to an S21 or Pixel 5.
Yes. Great idea. I always wondered how would a flagship perform 3 years later. Now I know. That and the fact that I am writing it on my Pixel 2XL which is still great 😀😀
OK so firstly I LOVE this video series, and the Pixel 2 was an amazing device I used for quite a while. And also, can we have a rewind on the Next NextBit Robin? That phone was super unique and ahead of its time, and I'd love to see how it holds up!
Why google ditched the dual tone design, that was there signature looks that differentiated them from the crowd and it looked really unique and sort of awesome.
I'm using pixel 2 for 2 years. It is still my favourite phone, last week I changed to S10 but I'm not satisfied with s10's camera when comparing to pixel 2
Having the pixel 2 through 2020, It was really great as a daily driver. The only thing that made me upgrade is really the battery life. Tried the battery replacing the battery but it didn't help much. Such a quirky phone to this day.

This is the series I've been looking for! I've never seen a single video of yours before, but as soon as I heard the concept of this series, I hit subscribe!
I loved my Pixel 2 but over the past few months it started rebooting when I take pics. And pics are why I loved it. I searched for and tried every fix. Nothing worked. I finally gave in and upgraded to a Pixel 4a. It even fit into my old case. But until then it was the best.
I like this idea of checking out which older phones still work well! Bought an iPhone 12 and it will probably be the last high end phone I buy! New subscriber here!
Although I always upgrade to a new flagship about every three years, it's interesting to see how these old flagships hold up by today's standards. Great new series. Looking forward to the next one.
I had to say goodbye to my Pixel 2XL this year because battery was running out too quickly. Or at least that was the plan, even now that I have a new phone I still carry my Pixel 2XL around. I just love this phone, best phone I have ever owned.
This phone is still my daily driver! 🔥 And I'll always prefer having the bezels with the front facing speakers than weak side speaker for a bezel-less display.
I mean, I'm just about to replace it but I do love my S8. It was the first phone to really up the screen:display ratio, and I honestly can't find a phone as pretty as it to replace it with. People say they don't like curved sides, but it always looked to me like a phone from Star Trek, and still does, an absolutely awesome display, no notch, no pinhole, just lovely. Performs solidly too. Mostly! But the battery is going, so I'm moving onto pastures new, but it has been the single best piece of technology I've ever bought, loved using it.
*Me looking around for the lava lamp guy* Guess I'm early! EDIT: Wow, only half a minute in and I love that intro! The series sounds like a great idea!
the camera modules fail in these, and with the monthly security updates It can be easy to blame a software update for hardware failure. I've gone through 2, My first phone was replaced under warranty for the camera and my second one failed out of warranty, I bought a camera module for 15 bucks and changed it out myself, you will need to re-glue the display though since you have to remove it to access the camera. I have found that if you take a magnet and wave it close to the lens and flash area you can revive it temporarily.
@@PRL1290 but why did it happen in the first place that too across so many pixel 2. My friends s8 released around the same year doesnt have this issue. pixel 1 had lens flair issue , pixel 2 hardware failure, pixel 3 ois issue. but google is charging premium for lacklasture hardware.
I have been using Google pixel 2xl for almost 3 years and this phone still performs amazingly good actually in terms of battery, smooth interface, really good in handling high end games, pretty solid build no major wear and tear to body after being dropped several times and finally the camera...The photos taken from this still beats up many flagship phone's camera of 2021. I just love it.
Hi Mark, I concur that older flagships represent great quality and value. Bought my wife an lg g6 recently for 100gbp bnib. It's an absolute beast with a long list of great features. Look forward to more of this series.
Everyone talking about the Pixel 2 here, meanwhile I am still rocking out my Pixel 1 with no problems at all. The only issue is my battery having calibration issues, but it doesn't affect the user experience.
I used my Pixel 2 for 3 years and now my mother is using it. It's still as smooth as the day it was bought. Never had any issue expect once I sent it back to Google to fix the charging port. 😊
Watching this from the same color Pixel 2 as shown! I got mine about a year ago because i wanted a cheap way to get into the Google Pixel ecosystem, and my phone still runs great. I have minor menu bar burn in at the bottom of my screen but the rest of the display is spot on. The battery will actually last me a whole work day assuming I'm not streaming video/music. Spotify offline mode with battery saver mode on barely runs down my battery
Just yesterday I had to say goodbye to my old friend. It's battery started ballooning, causing the screen to bend and separate from the body. I loved that phone. I'm treating myself to a Samsung Galaxy S21 on Google Fi, but I will always have a soft spot for the Pixel series.
Just bought a used Pixel 2 in flawless condition for my uncle. My uncle loves art so I wanted to give him a phone with a great camera. He doesn’t need a fast phone lol
Pixel 3 user here, love it, but sometimes I'm tempted to go back to Pixel 2, it was the best format for me with a 5 inch screen easily manageable with one hand
Today is April 2023. I have this device for 5 years, I bought it new in the box. This device is very cool. However it has a weak battery. Even a new battery barely lasts for one day. I replaced the battery after 3 years of use. Today he has a different battery. For 2 years of use its capacity is 89%. This is about 4 hours of screen time.
Everytime a review goes up about an old flagship, the price of the phone goes up too! mrwhosetheboss posted about the 7pro and it went up from 300 odd USD to 500 odd USD. Same with the Pixel 2, it went up from 90 odd to 250 odd USD. Just an observation!! Lovely video though .
Mark...I've had mine for almost 5 years now! It has been the best phone I've ever owned. The worst one was the Palm Pre...even my old 2004/5 Samsung flip phone was a lot better (more durable and reliable). I bought the Pixel 2 new for $900, in Canada. It has been a rock-solid phone. Unfortunately, recently it fell into a lake. It was about 4 feet down and among weeds. It was hard to find...but I retrieved it after several minutes. I couldn't believe when I pulled it out that it was still running and with no screen glitching. Obviously the waterproofing held up, better than I would have suspected! I still ended up turning it off (maybe I shouldn't have). However, now there is moisture trapped in both cameras so I think I have to open it up and to get all the moisture out. A few days later, I still haven't turned it back on out of fear I might mess something up if there is water in a critical component(s) and causes an issue. On the other hand everything is backed up so I might just cave and get a Pixel 5 or 6. Great video...love your content!! Keep it up!! Side note - I've seen comments regarding poor batter life. Perhaps version 10 is the culprit...my fiancé has a Pixel 2 and after upgrading to Anroid 10, the battery life went downhill shortly there after. I prevented mine from updating and manually update all my apps (and avoid battery draining apps like FB Messenger). Mine is still running version 9 and my battery life is a lot better than her phone. Sometimes, her phone abruptly shuts with around 30% life left. I almost think the upgrade was done purposely (shady business practice which Apple ended up in a class action lawsuit) in this manner in order to push people to buy a newer model.

Pixel 2 does not get any security updates anymore. The Pixel 3 is the device to go for: Same camera sensor as newest Pixels, still updates and Google Photos in original quality for free until next year...
I'm thinking of buying old pixel phone because all the budget phones in 2021 is too big for my hands, and the smaller phones are beyond my budget. My only concern is the software updates and support.
I just last week replaced my P30 pro with a google pixel 1st gen. Hate the battery life but worth the "downgrade". Got it specifically for the unlimited 4k video and original quality photos perk with google photos. The only pixel that does. I lost zoom, i lost battery life, I lost a lot of screen real estate... but i will live.
I used to get a new phone every couple of years, but in the past few years the innovation has slowed down. Other than better cameras, they're basically the same. I got a Pixel 2 when it first came out but I picked up the Pixel 3 in Jan 2020 because I wanted a "new phone". I tried it for a week and returned it to get my Google Pixel 2 back. I'm going to keep this bad boy until something worthwhile comes along. It feels good having a phone that is paid off. Not trying to make payments on new phones for the rest of my life
My father is still rocking the beautiful Nexus 6P and it's running smoothly without any major hiccups! The Pixel and Nexus lineup is easily the most long-lasting in the Android world. I am running a Pixel 3a XL and still feels brand new, super smooth with a great all-day battery life!
I can't bring myself to replace my pixel 2, the only reason I'm looking at a new phone is the battery is getting a little tired. But this has been the best phone I've ever owned bar none
OnePlus 6T is fine but not one aspect of that phone particularly standout unlike this Pixel 2, which is its impressive image quality, extremely competent even against current flagship which makes this phone very appealing. My 2 cents.
There's real value to be had from flagship phones who are out of the limelight, I'm currently using my Oneplus 3 from when it launched but looking for an upgrade, phone that's on my mind right now is the Galaxy Note 9 a $1000 flagship which is currently selling for ~$300-350. Coming from the 1+3 it would definitely feel like a substantial upgrade for fraction of the price. Only thing it misses out on is the high refresh rate 😅
I only buy phones when I find a super good deal. Got my 1+8 in May for $250 through verizon with a trade in of an s8 with a bad battery and burned in screen. And that s8 I got in 2017 best buy black friday deal for ~$300.
hey man... what happens once the update is not available anymore (i.e Pixel 2) in 2021 and beyond? what should we expect while using pixel 2 in 2021 and beyond?
I'm one of the many people who got units which had the camera break for no reason other the it being faulty. Yes, the Pixel 2 works for many people until now, but without the money scammed for many of us, this wouldn't be the case. I don't think this is the definition of what is considered to be "good".
Facts. The battery drain after the android 10 update is severe. It really should've gotten the super battery saver mode but unfortunately it doesn't receive any more system updates.
my pixel2 runs exactly same as it did 4 years back when i opened it. i have never had such an experience. its unreal. way to go google

My father is still rocking the beautiful Nexus 6P and it's running smoothly without any major hiccups! The Pixel and Nexus lineup is easily the most long-lasting in the Android world. I am running a Pixel 3a XL and still feels brand new, super smooth with a great all-day battery life!
This phone was awesome except the battery made it unuseable for me... I can't even imagine holding onto it for 3 years! 😬
I can't bring myself to replace my pixel 2, the only reason I'm looking at a new phone is the battery is getting a little tired. But this has been the best phone I've ever owned bar none
I just retired my 2 XL for the S 21 Ultra. Even with Samsung's best offering, I still miss some features the Pixel 2 XL had.
I'm in this same scenario. Was it worth the upgrade? Been thinking about getting the S21 Ultra
Your pixel 2 has a different home button thing than mine 🤔 mine is with the usual back key, home button, and the square
You can change button-based navigation to gesture navigation in the settings.
Are these pixel 2 phone available now all refurbished?
I have a Pixel 2 XL. My issue is the OS updates have stopped. I'm looking at Pixel 4A for my next phone.
What about the OnePlus 6T?
My current phone
Please make a lava lamp review
My 2 XL performs great and can still beat midrange phones with "8 gigs ram, 128gb rom" and with sd 7xx
I just got a pixel 4a so I'm hoping it will hold up to the test of time as well
Same
Good one. Where did you get it from? Sealed one would be available in Pakistan?
so love the pixel 2, simple and sober and does the job pretty well
Just be careful of failing camera modules, random restarts, and bootloops. Other than that, it's a great phone.
hey man... what happens once the update is not available anymore (i.e Pixel 2) in 2021 and beyond? what should we expect while using pixel 2 in 2021 and beyond?
yep - i was a pixel 2 owner, loved it till the battery had its day. got my pixel 5 - love my 6 - 7 hours OST :)
I'm one of the many people who got units which had the camera break for no reason other the it being faulty. Yes, the Pixel 2 works for many people until now, but without the money scammed for many of us, this wouldn't be the case. I don't think this is the definition of what is considered to be "good".
It's a steal but the battery life is garbage even if you get it replaced
Facts. The battery drain after the android 10 update is severe. It really should've gotten the super battery saver mode but unfortunately it doesn't receive any more system updates.
