I've played around with some iPhones but I'm just more at home with Android and I've missed having front facing speakers since my M7 but was so glad when I found out the pixel 2 XL would be bringing those back better than ever plus fast timely updates so it was a no brainer for me I snatched the pixel 2 XL as soon as it was available and haven't regretted it, it's an awesome device.

Google Pixel 2 XL's camera is just as good & now even better since Google turned on the Special Camera chip in the 8.1 update. It can do everything the iPhone X's two cameras can do & better. Plus the Selfie Camera is better than the iPhone X's. Amazing. Google pulled off a "Steve Jobs" so to speak! They minimal-ized the camera. Steve would be quite impressed w/how Google achieved the same camera abilities & qualities w/just one camera. AND NO Hideous "STICKIN" CAMERA BUMP, NIPPLE, SKIN TAG, MOLE!

You should not be cringy not even close the pixel wins by a mile the only reason people think iphones have a better camera is because of snapchat being optimized for ios and not android so the pictures on android does'nt look nearly as good in snapchat as when you just take a picture with the camera app.
I just feel like everyone has iPhones because of the brand. People really care about big brands. I only have my iPhone X because it was given to me as a gift, but I’ve actually been meaning to switch over to an android (& test it out) but I’m scared I won’t like it.
I love them both. Switch between to two all the time. I prefer the camera, Google integration and notifications on the Pixel. It's always nice to be able to customize your phone a little bit too. It's crazy fast (honestly less hiccups and stutters than my iPhone X). The iPhone is fantastic too... Mostly for iMessage...lol. If I had to bite the bullet and pick between the two I'd honestly stay with the Pixel, and that's coming from someone who was predominantly an iPhone user.

Just bought iPhone 8 last month, regret it now. Its time to go to Pixel phone now. The ios 11 is just not fully baked and has lots of bugs. And oh that ugly and unorganized notification,arrggghhh😖. daentastic I'm not here to start wars or anything but I have the pixel 2 xl and both of those were fixed. plus the blue shift was very slight in the first place. But both phones and operating system are great in there own ways it really just personal preference.
Also LED notifications, clipboard, on screen widgets and widget packs, in app camera settings, option to slowdown your phone at will to conserve battery, faster charging, ability to change icons, lockscreens and launchers.
Just switched to the pixel 2 XL and after watching iPhone X reviews, soooo glad I went with the pixel. Usability is amazing. Very easy to switch from Apple iOS to the Google OS

Nadeem Shaikh I’ve owned both and could use either one. I’m not the type that needs all the customizations and such. I’ve been wanting to give android a go again for some time, but after being back on iOS for a while it’s hard to leave. Everyone I know has an iPhone and we’re all locked into the certain iOS features that make it hard to leave such as iMessage, family tracking and family sharing, FaceTime, group chats, etc. In the end it’s all personal preference and to each his own on what they prefer. I say buy what works for you and just be happy with it. I will say this though, the best phone On the market would be a Note 8 or S8+ Play Edition, with stereo front facing speakers. But sadly the Play days are long gone. That would be the best phone on the market hands down no doubt. I do have a gripe though. After all these years, how come google hasn’t created an iMessage variant within android and build it into the main app. If Apple can do it and just utilize their servers for iMessages, I wonder why google can’t do the same?

As a current iPhone 7+ user who has been using iPhone's since the 4, I'd have to say it's time for a switch. I was having a really hard time on deciding which phone I should switch to, and the reviews on Verizon's website just made it even harder for me to decide. Granted, my bill is gonna go up a few bucks, but your video about the GP2XL really gave me that small nudge in the direction I was wanting to go in the first place. I've also kinda missed using android phones, but I only stopped using them because the one I had many years ago formatted my entire phone and erased every single piece of content I had, but the iPhone's I have had over the years have done that plus so much more and has given me multiple headaches. IMO iPhone's are going downhill, and it just seems that Apple would rather sell more flashy over priced phones instead of fixing the current bugs and major software issues that they have. So it looks like I'm going to be getting myself a GP2XL for Christmas! Thank the universe for early upgrades, and thank you so much for this review.
I'm back to Android. IOS keeps regressing and Android keeps improving. Used to be iPhones were faster, now top Android phones are faster, for smaller apps, apps that I actually use regularly. But pixel phones are ridiculously expensive. I'm absolutely happy with my Oneplus 5T and Huawei P10. They also take great pics which I like even more than Pixel and iPhone because these Chinese phones tend to sharpen the pics more
JamesJDMoe iPhone has faster processor. But android flagships like pixel 2, OnePlus 5t are faster for general usage except games and video editing. Now that tells something. Even with a lower powered processor, android flagships run faster than the mighty iPhone. Now which is the better OS? Android requires a bit more ram because of the way the os works. It's much like a pc. Also the os packs in a lot more features which will require more ram.
Arun K no sir. the iphone is much faster at general tasks. you can even watch the speed tests done on this channel, iphone blazes through tasks much faster than the android devices. the android devices just have significantly more RAM which allows them to keep all the tasks open while iphone closes them to make room for others. as far as better OS? it comes down to preference. there is no true objective winner.
JamesJDMoe I did watch those videos. Phones like Oneplus 5t, note 8 were faster for most social apps. If there are no games, editing apps included in the test, these Android phones will easily win the test even if there's no memory management test. I'm not talking about only the app opening speeds. App switching and operating speed is excellent in phones like OnePlus 5t, pixel 2. I think iPhone doesn't utilize the high power of the cpu for normal tasks to save battery. It has a very small capacity battery for the power it packs inside. OnePlus 5t is better than iPhone x in network speeds. Combining the fact that the back glass replacement will cost half the price of the expensive iPhone x/8, it's totally not worth buying.
Arun K P sir you can't take out apps that are convenient for you to win this argument. all apps are taken into consideration. among all types of apps...(camera, games, editing apps, etc) iphone is faster. and the oneplus 5t is a great phone but you can't say what another phone isn't worth. the oneplus 5t doesn't have one of the best cameras on the market, water resistance, stereo speakers, etc and the biggest one of them all it doesn't have iOS. and same can be said for the oneplus 5t over iphone, iphone doesn't have a cheap price, 8gb of RAM, android OS, etc. when it comes to what phone and OS is better, it's ALL ABOUT PREFERENCE. but objectively iphone X is faster than any android phone in benchmarks and in normal tasks.
I was looking at the newer iPhone and Pixel 3, and somehow stumbled across the certified refurbished phones on Amazon... Picked up a like-new refurb Pixel 2 with all original accessories and packaging for $315... Saved myself $600 and have an absolutely amazing phone with no notch! Best move ever!
One benefit to the Google phone that is never mentioned in any reviews, is the 24-7 chat or phone support. I stumbled on this quite accidentally, and it is incredibly awesome. Any problem or a question you have about your phone and you can reach a Google representative at any time. They will even screen share your phone so that they can walk you through whatever you're trying to do. No other phone offers that!
Current iPhone 7 user here. I’ve used both platforms and enjoy what each has to bring to the table. Definitely waiting on the Pixel 3. That phone will be epic.
I don't understand why people make reviews or comparisons of the Pixel 2, or any phone for that matter, and don't include specs like these. This video gave me a real look at how the phone is hands on. Great video man!
I like the specs of the Pixel, but one thing I wish Google would give to its users is privacy. Apple is pretty good about preventing corporations from getting info on you and this fact has been the reason why I prefer using my iPad for certain tasks instead of my Android.
These were more OS differences than actual smartphone differences! Most of the thing you've said in favour of the pixel can be done on any other android device

Apple User yes I know and the speakers on the pixel 2 is actually a little bit louder IMO. Yeah the stereo speakers on the iPhone does sound pretty good and would still work for me but of course they aren't as good as front facing speakers. Yeah the one lousy mono speaker at the bottom on other phones suck if all Android phones had that I may even be tempted enough to go to iPhone lol more immersive sound is definitely something I enjoy in a smartphone because I don't like sticking earbuds in my ears all the time when watching videos etc I rarely ever use earbuds with my pixel 2 XL.

If u break the back glass and go to pay 549$ to repair it, apple doesn’t repair it, they replace it with a brand new one. (Go watch gizmo slip’s video if ya don’t believe me)

And before y’all bring up button textures, know this: iPhone X has a bigger power button than volume buttons, and all the buttons are made of metal. They click nicely! Never underestimate a premium design. Oh yeah, and Pixel users, a tiny minority, take twice as many photos as iPhone users. That’s why they buy the Pixel I assume, but those pocket shots probably pad the numbers pretty good. Also, in your video example, the camera icon is randomly placed on a page. If you’re serious about the camera and don’t want to use any of the great shortcuts mentioned above, put the camera on the dock. It doesn’t have to be hidden in page 2!

14. This is another developer-specific issue, as developers have the choice to make a trial version or mode in their apps or not. Developers on iOS are safe in the knowledge people really have to buy their apps if that is how they want it. If you aren’t sure about an app, you can use TH-cam to learn about it, or read reviews right there in the App Store. The descriptions of iOS apps in the App Store are better because the whole store is curated by Apple for quality control. No viruses like on Android.
I had the Pixel 2 xl for a few weeks. I really liked the phone. The Android 8.0 was a great operating system. The best Android I've used. Mine had WiFi issues. It would keep showing connected to WiFi no WiFi signal available. Mine also had the blue screen but only noticeable when texting with a white background. I also found the dual speakers when playing a video wasn't load enough if there was noise in room you were in. Also the same if you were using speaker mode while on the phone. The camera was fantastic. The Only reason I don't have the phone anymore is Verizon. I took my phone into my local corporate store. I told them about the WiFi issues. They said oh you bought this over the holiday season so you have until January 15th to return the phone. Let's get you out of this phone and back into an IPhone like you had before. But I like the phone a said to the rep I was working with. But lots of people are returning that phone too many problems. So the rep put me into an IPhone 8plus. After using the Pixel 2 xl I really found how restrictive the iPhone's are. The Androids are so open source. Will I try the Pixel xl 3 if it comes out yes. As long as it isn't made by L.G.. side note I bought my girlfriend an IPhone X. I've tried it. Hate the operating system. Oh and she called me from Disneyland from a friends phone. Her X completely died. She tried charging it. Nope done.
If any body is wondering if the phone is fast I got one and played fortnite on and ran hight full res 30fps limit rarely no lags fast and great phone takes GREAT pictures and videos 👌 I recommend it
Warrenty is the bomb, got a refurbished one from Amazon certified referb program with a dead pixel and a known green line issue, to return and then buy another would have taken at least two weeks, google includes refurbished phones in there warrenty(above and beyond) sent the refurbished one back and got a brand new pixel xl 2 box and accessories so that was awsome.

Currently have the Note 8, used iPhone since their first generation and up until the iPhone 7 plus and have used LG, Samsung, HTC and I love my Note, I used the pixel 2 xl for about 10 days but there is so much more I use my Note for that the Pixel can't do, for example my estimates or scopes I can take pictures add text and convert on the fly to pdf and submit, I can't do that with the pixel.. Camera on the pixel 2 is the best cell camera I've ever seen and used but too much of what I use on my Note I can't duplicate on the pixel to keep it. The swipe gesture on the bottom of the iPhone X lets you quickly get between apps which can all use every bit of its much nicer, if smaller, display (which has a higher screen to body ratio so the whole phone fits in your pocket better for the display size). Also iPads have PIP video but TH-cam doesn’t support it, even with RED. There’s a screen that can really take advantage of multitasking but Google’s software team isn’t doing it. Choosing the Pixel for PIP video is like choosing Apple Music for exclusive Taylor Swift content. By making your decision that way, you encourage development teams to hold features from the competition to make a worse experience where possible, or in the case of music you support “this service sucks but it has Taylor Swift so I guess I have to pay for it. I literally cannot get that tiny thing anywhere else...” except you can! While jailbroken, you can indeed use TH-cam picture in picture. I have done it! It is good. I bet it’s not a Pixel exclusive among Androids either. If it is, see my above point about software exclusives: Google should not make Pixel exclusives. They should just make Android better by incorporating those same features for everyone. They still make money off user data, and this is their business platform. Don’t buy phones from Google if they play the game that way; it’s unfair to third parties like Samsung and OnePlus that do their best to make diversity and value in the Android Smartphone market with flagship hardware features the Pixel doesn’t have like wireless charging and face recognition. If everyone bought Pixels for these little launcher goodies, how good do you think Android hardware would be in a few years? It would be Google dominated and stagnant.
I do videos so the iPhone X is for me. I hear a lot of bad comments about it and iOS 11 but this is by far the best iPhone I’ve ever owned. Getting rid of the button was a revelation. Facial recognition works far better for me than the fingerprint sensor ever did. I got used to the gestures in half an hour and never looked back. And since watching your counterpart, pro iPhone X video I started taking advantage of the haptic feedback again. I’d forgotten all about it! And the higher cost will be largely compensated for when I trade this one in. That’s because the iPhone is waaaay overpowered for contemporary needs. So whoever has my phone 4-5 years from now will probably still be able to update to the latest iOS.
I bought pixel in the early days of its release by trusting google. One thing I don’t like on Pixel is when it comes to editing my videos. All videos need to be uploaded to cloud before you can edit them. Also very painful to edit and view changes. Which I felt is very easy on Apple SE.
One major intangible here that isn't easily measurable it's whether or not most of your friends or family are on iPhones. If they are, iPhones just don't communicate as well with non-iPhones in terms of messaging. And forget about convincing iPhone users to use something other than iMessage cause Apple won't allow you to switch to alternate default messaging options. To make matters worse, the notifications are such a mess that half the time they'll miss my messages if it's not a standard SMS (which are hit or miss as it is). In short not having access to iMessage to communicate with iPhone users is a major draw back.
#12 is just bullshit. Even on iOS you can delete default applications. The complete video just bases on personal opinions and is just a comparison of iOS and Android.
The bottom firing speaker is also a problem for me in portrait mode since I'm left-handed. The bottom speaker rests on my pinky which mutes it. This is also the biggest downside for me when using Samsung phones.
I never knew about the app return policy. This is a game changer. I've been hesitant about buying apps in the past because I didn't want to be stuck with the purchase if I didn't like it. Thanks for the video!!
17. With all my responses so far, I think it’s pretty obvious you get what you pay for. Also, again, storage bumps are cheaper on the iPhones this year. $150 is 15% without the storage bumps. With storage bumps it’s $949 to $1149, but double the storage for the iPhone. When you consider all the things the iPhone can do: AirDrop, AirPods, Apple Watch, Apple Store repairs, Accessories, just to name some of the As, 15% would never sway yours truly. And the proof is in the numbers here. A used iPhone will cost almost as much as a new iPhone because they hold their value. Pixels do not. Androids in general do not. That means buying them new the iPhone has a huge pitch floating over its head that it is the consumer choice. And, as a bonus, when you ditch it for next year’s flagship, you make that $150 back with its greater resale value.

I just feel like everyone has iPhones because of the brand. People really care about big brands. I only have my iPhone X because it was given to me as a gift, but I’ve actually been meaning to switch over to an android (& test it out) but I’m scared I won’t like it.
I love them both. Switch between to two all the time. I prefer the camera, Google integration and notifications on the Pixel. It's always nice to be able to customize your phone a little bit too. It's crazy fast (honestly less hiccups and stutters than my iPhone X). The iPhone is fantastic too... Mostly for iMessage...lol. If I had to bite the bullet and pick between the two I'd honestly stay with the Pixel, and that's coming from someone who was predominantly an iPhone user.

Nadeem Shaikh I’ve owned both and could use either one. I’m not the type that needs all the customizations and such. I’ve been wanting to give android a go again for some time, but after being back on iOS for a while it’s hard to leave. Everyone I know has an iPhone and we’re all locked into the certain iOS features that make it hard to leave such as iMessage, family tracking and family sharing, FaceTime, group chats, etc. In the end it’s all personal preference and to each his own on what they prefer. I say buy what works for you and just be happy with it. I will say this though, the best phone On the market would be a Note 8 or S8+ Play Edition, with stereo front facing speakers. But sadly the Play days are long gone. That would be the best phone on the market hands down no doubt. I do have a gripe though. After all these years, how come google hasn’t created an iMessage variant within android and build it into the main app. If Apple can do it and just utilize their servers for iMessages, I wonder why google can’t do the same?

As a current iPhone 7+ user who has been using iPhone's since the 4, I'd have to say it's time for a switch. I was having a really hard time on deciding which phone I should switch to, and the reviews on Verizon's website just made it even harder for me to decide. Granted, my bill is gonna go up a few bucks, but your video about the GP2XL really gave me that small nudge in the direction I was wanting to go in the first place. I've also kinda missed using android phones, but I only stopped using them because the one I had many years ago formatted my entire phone and erased every single piece of content I had, but the iPhone's I have had over the years have done that plus so much more and has given me multiple headaches. IMO iPhone's are going downhill, and it just seems that Apple would rather sell more flashy over priced phones instead of fixing the current bugs and major software issues that they have. So it looks like I'm going to be getting myself a GP2XL for Christmas! Thank the universe for early upgrades, and thank you so much for this review.
I'm back to Android. IOS keeps regressing and Android keeps improving. Used to be iPhones were faster, now top Android phones are faster, for smaller apps, apps that I actually use regularly. But pixel phones are ridiculously expensive. I'm absolutely happy with my Oneplus 5T and Huawei P10. They also take great pics which I like even more than Pixel and iPhone because these Chinese phones tend to sharpen the pics more

Even with a lower powered processor, android flagships run faster than the mighty iPhone. Now which is the better OS? Android requires a bit more ram because of the way the os works. It's much like a pc. Also the os packs in a lot more features which will require more ram.

JamesJDMoe I did watch those videos. Phones like Oneplus 5t, note 8 were faster for most social apps. If there are no games, editing apps included in the test, these Android phones will easily win the test even if there's no memory management test. I'm not talking about only the app opening speeds. App switching and operating speed is excellent in phones like OnePlus 5t, pixel 2. I think iPhone doesn't utilize the high power of the cpu for normal tasks to save battery. It has a very small capacity battery for the power it packs inside. OnePlus 5t is better than iPhone x in network speeds. Combining the fact that the back glass replacement will cost half the price of the expensive iPhone x/8, it's totally not worth buying.
Arun K P sir you can't take out apps that are convenient for you to win this argument. all apps are taken into consideration. among all types of apps...(camera, games, editing apps, etc) iphone is faster. and the oneplus 5t is a great phone but you can't say what another phone isn't worth. the oneplus 5t doesn't have one of the best cameras on the market, water resistance, stereo speakers, etc and the biggest one of them all it doesn't have iOS. and same can be said for the oneplus 5t over iphone, iphone doesn't have a cheap price, 8gb of RAM, android OS, etc. when it comes to what phone and OS is better, it's ALL ABOUT PREFERENCE. but objectively iphone X is faster than any android phone in benchmarks and in normal tasks.

I like the specs of the Pixel, but one thing I wish Google would give to its users is privacy. Apple is pretty good about preventing corporations from getting info on you and this fact has been the reason why I prefer using my iPad for certain tasks instead of my Android.

Yeah the stereo speakers on the iPhone does sound pretty good and would still work for me but of course they aren't as good as front facing speakers. Yeah the one lousy mono speaker at the bottom on other phones suck if all Android phones had that I may even be tempted enough to go to iPhone lol more immersive sound is definitely something I enjoy in a smartphone because I don't like sticking earbuds in my ears all the time when watching videos etc I rarely ever use earbuds with my pixel 2 XL.

I had the Pixel 2 xl for a few weeks. I really liked the phone. The Android 8.0 was a great operating system. The best Android I've used. Mine had WiFi issues. It would keep showing connected to WiFi no WiFi signal available. Mine also had the blue screen but only noticeable when texting with a white background. I also found the dual speakers when playing a video wasn't load enough if there was noise in room you were in. Also the same if you were using speaker mode while on the phone. The camera was fantastic. The Only reason I don't have the phone anymore is Verizon. I took my phone into my local corporate store. I told them about the WiFi issues. They said oh you bought this over the holiday season so you have until January 15th to return the phone. Let's get you out of this phone and back into an IPhone like you had before. But I like the phone a said to the rep I was working with. But lots of people are returning that phone too many problems. So the rep put me into an IPhone 8plus. After using the Pixel 2 xl I really found how restrictive the iPhone's are. The Androids are so open source. Will I try the Pixel xl 3 if it comes out yes. As long as it isn't made by L.G.. side note I bought my girlfriend an IPhone X. I've tried it. Hate the operating system. Oh and she called me from Disneyland from a friends phone. Her X completely died. She tried charging it. Nope done.

Warrenty is the bomb, got a refurbished one from Amazon certified referb program with a dead pixel and a known green line issue, to return and then buy another would have taken at least two weeks, google includes refurbished phones in there warrenty(above and beyond) sent the refurbished one back and got a brand new pixel xl 2 box and accessories so that was awsome.
If you can't pick between these two phones, just get the phone that's better than both of them. The Note 8

Currently have the Note 8, used iPhone since their first generation and up until the iPhone 7 plus and have used LG, Samsung, HTC and I love my Note, I used the pixel 2 xl for about 10 days but there is so much more I use my Note for that the Pixel can't do, for example my estimates or scopes I can take pictures add text and convert on the fly to pdf and submit, I can't do that with the pixel.. By making your decision that way, you encourage development teams to hold features from the competition to make a worse experience where possible, or in the case of music you support “this service sucks but it has Taylor Swift so I guess I have to pay for it. I literally cannot get that tiny thing anywhere else...” except you can! While jailbroken, you can indeed use TH-cam picture in picture. I have done it! It is good. I bet it’s not a Pixel exclusive among Androids either. If it is, see my above point about software exclusives: Google should not make Pixel exclusives. They should just make Android better by incorporating those same features for everyone. They still make money off user data, and this is their business platform. Don’t buy phones from Google if they play the game that way; it’s unfair to third parties like Samsung and OnePlus that do their best to make diversity and value in the Android Smartphone market with flagship hardware features the Pixel doesn’t have like wireless charging and face recognition. I do videos so the iPhone X is for me. I hear a lot of bad comments about it and iOS 11 but this is by far the best iPhone I’ve ever owned. Getting rid of the button was a revelation. Facial recognition works far better for me than the fingerprint sensor ever did. I got used to the gestures in half an hour and never looked back. And since watching your counterpart, pro iPhone X video I started taking advantage of the haptic feedback again. I’d forgotten all about it! And the higher cost will be largely compensated for when I trade this one in. That’s because the iPhone is waaaay overpowered for contemporary needs. So whoever has my phone 4-5 years from now will probably still be able to update to the latest iOS.

I bought pixel in the early days of its release by trusting google. One thing I don’t like on Pixel is when it comes to editing my videos. All videos need to be uploaded to cloud before you can edit them. Also very painful to edit and view changes. Which I felt is very easy on Apple SE.

One major intangible here that isn't easily measurable it's whether or not most of your friends or family are on iPhones. If they are, iPhones just don't communicate as well with non-iPhones in terms of messaging. And forget about convincing iPhone users to use something other than iMessage cause Apple won't allow you to switch to alternate default messaging options. To make matters worse, the notifications are such a mess that half the time they'll miss my messages if it's not a standard SMS (which are hit or miss as it is). In short not having access to iMessage to communicate with iPhone users is a major draw back.
#12 is just bullshit. Even on iOS you can delete default applications. The complete video just bases on personal opinions and is just a comparison of iOS and Android.

The bottom firing speaker is also a problem for me in portrait mode since I'm left-handed. The bottom speaker rests on my pinky which mutes it. This is also the biggest downside for me when using Samsung phones.

17. With all my responses so far, I think it’s pretty obvious you get what you pay for. Also, again, storage bumps are cheaper on the iPhones this year. $150 is 15% without the storage bumps. With storage bumps it’s $949 to $1149, but double the storage for the iPhone. When you consider all the things the iPhone can do: AirDrop, AirPods, Apple Watch, Apple Store repairs, Accessories, just to name some of the As, 15% would never sway yours truly. And the proof is in the numbers here. A used iPhone will cost almost as much as a new iPhone because they hold their value. Pixels do not. Androids in general do not. That means buying them new the iPhone has a huge pitch floating over its head that it is the consumer choice. And, as a bonus, when you ditch it for next year’s flagship, you make that $150 back with its greater resale value.
Almost all the reasons here can be achieved by first generation pixel. So why am I buying the new model
