The Vita is criminally underrated. When it’s modded, it’s still one of the best handheld consoles ever made.
I agre, the vita is my favorite hand held device for retro games, for heavier emulation i use my steam deck
A modded PS Vita is one of the BEST handheld systems to this date. I highly recommend everyone mod their vita. It’s phenomenal
I havent used my vita in awhile, but I have a 3.60 henkaku build..... is it worth updating and rehacking it for more game support?
@@Hijynx87 depends if you’re trying to play more recent ports. I have the app PKGI so I can pretty much download all VITA, PSP, & most PS1 games. That’s good enough for me
I’m debating about getting a 2nd PS Vita just for modding. I heard it’s easy and it’s worth it because most games are expensive

@@Hijynx87 you don't have to go beyond 3.60 to get more features out of a hacked vita. If you wanna play backups of games requiring higher firmware, there's a plugin for that.
Once you jailbreak the Vita, it's definitely one of the best handheld consoles you could ever ask for.
What can you do with it besides not paying for vita games?

@@kc1813 I would recommend checking Gravity Rush if you can. It's only available on the PS Vita unfortunately, but the game is surprisingly intriguing. I also liked playing Dragon's Crown as well on the Vita. I also recommend checking Killzone Mercenaries out as well, if you like first person shooters that is.

Welcome to the club! I got mine around 2016/2017 when it got hacked and the rest is history. It's become my main handheld, and it's still going strong. I also have a PS TV for when I want to go big screen, especially for certain PS1 games I've never played and which I think deserve the big screen experience.
So excited you enjoy the vita! Got my Oled in 2013 and it's still going strong. Also, ps vita has remote play with ps4 and can even be used as an extra controller on ps4(rear touchpad mapping R1,R2,L1,L2). For digital psp games, you can remap the controls to play psp games with 2 analogue sticks. I recommend some of the HD collections the vita got like the Sly collection, Metal Gear Solid Collection, Ratchet & Clank Collection, God of War Collection, and Final Fantasy X-X2 Collection.
I still love and play my Vita. I've had an OLED and now own a Slim. Awesome console.

Got mine in 2016 and play it fairly frequently but just last week I jailbroke it and got a sd card adapter and im loving it! Really simple to do, it took maybe 20 minutes.
I also have a PS Vita 1000, I got it from a friend who sold it to me for 30$. Already jailbroken and I gotta say this the device that I dreamt of growing up. Gameboy, GBC and GB Advance games. PS1, PSP, PS Vita games and all the Rockstar game ports all in one device! This is it for me ♥

I asked on PS Vita Facebook groups “What’s the best model?” Mixed answers. Almost 50/50. But more people said the Slim has an easier charging port and 3 hours more battery? But the original has a OLED display… Slim has a nice LCD display. So I went with the slim and man it’s amazing! Both are amazing
You can’t go wrong with either!
Charger port is universal and not proprietary on the Slim (micro USB). Afaik, you get 1 extra hour of battery. The screen can be improved through a plugin that automatically tinkers its contrast and color profiles, although it won't become an OLED. If you really want that display, get the 1000 model.
PS: another pro of the Slim is that it comes with 1gb of internal memory which you will appreciate when modding the system and installing the cfw if you don't have an official memory stick.
@Dass_Jennir You can also get 1GB in the fat for unlocking, through the unlock hack, you lose the Near app, which these days is useless.
The best thing about vita is the OLED screen, way better than phones’ oled. Its like true oled or something. So if you don’t have oled you are missing
@@agus.lorenzo Well, I don't know what phones you have, but the Vita's oled is pretty weak, the worst in fact, compared to the phones I have, even the older ones, but okay, comparing the psvita with the rest of the phones from 2011 it was pretty good, but for today's standard it is rather poor

I got my Ps Vita 1000 during my trip to Tokyo and picked it up in Akihabara, awesome device for more PSN trophies under the Vita platform 🎉🎉🎉
The Vita was ahead of it's time. I hope Sony gives the handheld/portable market another shot
with all the bonehead they've been making, I wouldn't expect anything good from them. But hey, there's the PS Portal, just what everyone asked for!

I bought my first PSVITA last September and I love it! One of my friends helped me mod it and it’s great! I can download any game from the library I want for free and download unofficial ports and fan made games. One game I love playing is Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth, which was released in Japan and dubbed in several languages intended for a vita release. But never got an official North American release for the vita. However, the mod allows the game to work in all its available languages and it plays natively. Sony had no idea what they had with this handheld console.

I bought second hand from CEX here in the UK & it’s a very underrated handheld for sure.

Bought my Vita basically at launch and still have it. Love the thing and played many JRPG's and Visual Novels on it.
I loved my vita back in 2013-5, used it as you would a smart phone today. Facebook, TH-cam, games, video, music. Honestly makes me want one again just for nostalgia
If you eant to get a good start in on vita games I'd recommend
- Uncharted Golden Abyss
- Freedom Wars
- Gravity Rush (unless you have it on PS4)
-Wipeout 2048 (also available in the omega collection on PS4/5)
- Killzone Mercenary
- RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE Racer
- mod nation racers road trip
You could also get a bunch of PSP games like Gran turismo, GTA liberty city stories and PS1 Games like the original crash and spyro games but they're long gone unfortunately.
The PS1 section in particular has been basically stripped down to 7 games left on PSN.

Absolutely phenomenal device, but only when it's Jalibroken tho. Game prices are mostly ridiculously high and they are difficult to find at times.
Just grabbed my third OLED Vita and definitely going to mod this one. The process doesn't seem too difficult from the tutorials ive seen.😬
I have 6 vitas 🤣🤣🤣 imported the sapphire blue & cosmic red from Japan model 1000…. I have a white & crystal black NA 1000 models & one modded black 2000 & one 2000 CIB new never used. Love the vita ! (:

I jailbroke mine and have access to the entire catalog of games on the ps store ranging from ps vita, psp and ps1 games. It’s also the easiest console to jailbreak and takes maybe 10 minutes max. It’s well worth the purchase.

I was really looking into getting vita couple of years ago. Wanted to mod it for emulation. But then steam deck got announced. It was alot more expensive, but now I have hanheld emulator beast that can even handle ps2 games and alot of my steam library. One day I want vita and psp, but deck is enough for a long while.
People do not sell but mod it as to is very easy now and it allows the best gimmick that PS Vita had to have. Usage of normal microSD memory cards that cost normal price.
I’m a handheld only guy so Vita is near the top of the list for me. Even to this day, it’s an amazing gem.

The vita camera is for 3d/ augmented reality. You need the cards to use it or print them

I got a sim vita when it came out and was underwhelmed by the game selection. Glad I didn't sell it tho, now it's a top tier handheld. One of the best ever made.
I still use my modded ps vita today it holds up well after 5 years of play
I wanted a PSVita so much when it came out. I remember going to the Sony store close to where I used to work just to try it out in store and came so close to actually buying one multiple times. It was like the perfect handheld we all always wanted.
I was just waiting for a few more great exclusives to really make it worth it, but unfortunately Sony just pulled the plug on that thing so quickly it’s unfortunate really :(
Decided to play my vita after years and its still pretty good....best games I recommend are gravity rush, mortal kombat and uncharted....AC3 L and COD were also alot of fun as well....I still remember pre-ordering my psvita, just wish they made more games for it and supported it a little longer then they did

I own modded PS Vita slim and the game library and experience of playing it is awesome. Btw modded Nintendo Switch is fun too. I also felt same way as you about PS Portal but when it came to me… boy it’s dope. Ps5 games on a handheld device, awesome thing. I think one day they will hack PS portal as well so we could enjoy the same way we can enjoy Vita potential now

As to what people play on the Vita: I recently replayed GTA San Andreas, the Jak and Ratchet&Clank Trilogys, Pokemon Emerald on the GBA emulator and I regularly go back to the Wipeout PSP games and sometimes Wipeout 2048.
The homebrew community is also awesome and most community ports are worth a try.
The appeal of the Vita today is partially nostalgia, but it is also one of the best retro emulation devices, has an amazing form factor, is easy to mod and runs tons of games.
I have a Nintendo Wii with about 30 games in perfect working condition, I wonder what the market value would be? I have too much stuff.
The problem why this handheld never took off is because it was ahead of it's time. I honestly think it would of sold better if they released it two years after the PS4 came out.
It just released at the wrong time when smart phones and tablet gaming was begining.
Been released only two years before the ps4 really didn't help neither, it didn't have enough time on the market to establish itself at all or for Sony to give it their all with making it a success.
I had PS Vita in my childhood, I had that since I was like 9.
I play my vita every day. Playing Helldivers 1 is really fun and you can always find people playing It.
Best games are Tearaway, Gravity Rush, Uncharted and killzone.

I too was a late adopter of the vita, didn’t buy one until I saw a steal on Facebook marketplace probably in 2018. I got my use out of it I’d say but I’m ashamed to admit the steam deck has replaced it. I bought a crap ton of games for my vita and I never got around to playing all of them but I do want to go back to the system someday. Can’t earn trophies on the steam deck 😉
Just got my Vita (2000 blue model from Japan) last week and modded it. Easily one of the easiest devices I’ve ever installed CFW to and download games straight from the device with no PC needed. Haven’t played a PSP since the late 2000s and damn I regret not getting a Vita when they were at their cheapest. Been playing Person 4 Golden and God of War Collection, but I’ve got around 30 games downloaded to it waiting to be played.

I'm on the same boat as you bud, I bought two vitas. First the slim and now the phat, I obviously prefer the phat better due to the OLED but the slim is comfortable for longer game sessions than the phat but the slim gets the yellowing issue on the screen overtime. What a mess Sony.
I had my since. Launch 2013 phat 1000 I moved my mod yours you be able too record game play and your screen and use a ps4 or ps5 controller I love my vita now still use it

Do yourself a favor and play the uncharted that's on ps vita, it's incredible and it makes you use the rear touch screen and all that, very very cool
I had a ps vita on launch day but it got stolen from me but my game collection has never recovered since THAT day!

Easily recommend this system, so many great games. PSP, PS1 ports look great. Sadly only Sony hates it. Buying from digital store is a problem, wallet doesn't work for me, but physical games can still be found, Japanese games are cheap, getting EU/US versions could be expensive because of resellers(Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Muramasa Rebirth etc). If you don't care about trophies modded PS Vita could be a best choice.

When I was in college, I think the Vita was the only system I had time to play and it was more than enough entertainment during that busy season for sure!
The worst thing about the vita was Sonys proprietary memory cards. One of the reasons it flopped. It’s still awesome in 2024. Just hack it and you are good to go.
