Got to be the rhino just for how much steadier it is... seems you'd be relying on warp stabiliser with the edelkrone? Thanks for this vid was really interesting
Tbh im pretty shocked how shaky and bumpy the edelkrone was. I wouldve get a edelkrone but if i need to apply warp satbilizer even with a 500$+ slider i think it misses the point
Man it’s kinda nice to know someone else’s edelkrone isn’t super smooth! I thought it was just me haha! Looks like a rhino is on the wish list.. stability is most important to me.. looks like a clear winner across most categories thought! 👌🏼
I'm really surprised with the shake on your edelkrone setup. I found I only had these kind of shakes when the tracks were dirty or the slider motor gear belt was too loose. I also generally try to have the tripod legs out as far as the track is extending so avoid tripod flex too. Sandbags help a lot of course, but I still find having the legs spread out further is pretty key.
Absolutely agree. I have the newer slider long and no shake issues with a Laowa probe lens. I was surprised by the amount of shake (mine is pretty smooth) Maybe the slider has dirt or is worn out. I also second that you need to spread the tripod legs further for stability. I saw a couple of frames where you were holding on to the tripod to support it, that will induce shake. Lastly great comparison, thank you for spending the time to do this.
@@1zymn1 It’s tough since this looks a lot like the sticks even edelkrone sells! But the legs, should be much more spread out. Sandbags can only do so much.
The Edelkrone can be looped by pressing both key poses at once. The belt you used for hand slides on the Edelkrone was the motor belt, you'd need to change it to the nylon belt for manual movement, if you want to slide manually with the motor belt you'd need to pick up the Edelkrone Steady Module which makes a HUGE difference, it works really well with a Manfrotto video head. The Edelkrone is also great for macro, as it may not be as fast and the Rhino but it's a lot, lot, lot slower. The footage gives it away though, I have similar problems when it comes to shake and have to agree that neither slider is perfect. Mind you a touch of stabiliser and even the Edelkrone is as smooth as butter. Funnily enough I was recently sent the Zeapon slider for testing which is a lot cheaper and I'm blown away at the smoothness of it, they seem to have a pan tilt set coming soon too. I'm also quite impressed with how the Slypod handles smooth movement. Both the Zeapon and Slypod outperform the Rhino and Edelkrone when it comes to macro shots. Fingers crossed for smoother sliders in the future 🔥
I too was quite shocked by the amount of vibration on the Edelkrone setup. I was also shocked by the lack of power on both the slider and the PT head. I build and supply kits for the Digital Bird DIY system and have experience building both the over the top Rhino style head and the Balanced Edelkrone style head. An additional point to consider when choosing is do you ever see yourself wanting to use the head on the end of a Jib? If you do then the Rhino head will not work well since the balance of the Jib will dramatically change as the full weight of the camera goes over. Balanced heads do not have this issue.
Did this guy really just call that Edelkrone footage steady? Even Stevie Wonder could see how bad that footage looked. I was about to buy their system today but this just converted me to Rhino
I think there is something wrong with your Edelkrone Setup, since this shake isnt normal. You should check if the belt has come loose. Also, im a bit weirded out, that you didnt use the one Killer feature that the Edelkrone has over every other product. Positioning by HAND. you grab it, and just point it where you want it to go, no mumbo jumbo with the App or controller, just grab it and push it where it needs to be. Its the thing that made me buy it. Other than that, great comparison, Austin.
We tuned it up before shooting and mine has always had a bit of give and wiggle since I bought it. Yeah I’ve never used that feature I was just testing out things that are important to me. But it is a cool feature.
I can only slide one direction by hand when tightened properly to satisfy the app. If I loosen a little to manually slide the app throws up an error. I'm on my 2nd v3. I also have the v1 and v2 versions.
Great review! I personally think Rhino Arc 2 is the clear winner. Obviously Edelkrone is smaller to travel with but for everything else and what really matters - useable footage in most situations, the tech and strength in the Rhino makes it worth the extra bulk to carry to ensure the user gets the shot sooner than having to do multiple takes to ensure a really smooth capture.
I've had an Edelkrone setup for a year now and wish I had bought Rhino instead. It seems to be much more reliable. What really bothers me about Edelkrone is that the slider is prone to breakdown. If it's not balanced perfectly, the motor stops working. I don't think that is acceptable at this price point. Seems more like a toy some time than a semi-professional tool.
Thats why we had the edelkrone for 2 days before switching to a Rhino. Its so much better and dosent breakdown if its not exactly in level. Its also very quiet.
Love your content Austin, but a couple comments on this video. 1. This video made me happy I went with the Rhino about 6 months ago. It confirmed the Edelkrone is pretty bad when it comes to a smooth slide. I wanted the Edelkrone, but after watching Gerald Undone's video where he mentioned how hard it was to set up and balance(?) before shooting, I decided on the Rhino. 2. How are these sliders $2,500 to $3,000? Sliders are the most overpriced specialty piece of gear, especially when they still have major flaws like you've shown. Having said that, I'd happily pay $3,500 for a slider that is silent, has a powerful and fast motor, great app support, easy set up and portability. Why can't any manufacturers figure this out??? 3. The Rhino does have a worse app, and the limited keyframes are a bummer, but I mostly use for B-Cam on talking head interviews so I just set to looping slide. 4. The Edelkrone isn't even as smooth as the $350 GVM slider I own. Is everyone stabilizing footage in post when using this??? 5. You can buy shorter rails for the Rhino, so portability is actually better than the Edelkrone. Also, I can leave it all hooked up on the rails and store/travel in the included Rhino soft case. I literally just pull it out, put it on the tripods and start shooting after setting keyframes. Can't get much faster than that. 6. You didn't talk much about the high speed vs. high torque motors. I hate that you have to buy 2 motors for this if you want all the shooting options, but they're there if you need them. 7. Like you said, it all depends on what you're shooting. If more than 2 keyframes is needed for product shots etc., then maybe the Edelkrone is your choice, but in every other situation it seems like the Rhino wins. 8. You test the sliders on a wooden table that vibrates and exaggerates/amplifies the sound of the slider. IMO the sound test should be done on a tripod to isolate these vibrations. 9. Lastly, I had to return my main Rhino unit after my initial purchase because it wouldn't charge after a week. This seems to be an issue I've seen online, so maybe the build quality or QC isn't quite as good as the Edel, but I'd still take the Rhino for it's smooth slides and ease of use.
Every vs slider review & comparison: Rhino - Smooth and easy to use when working but there’s always the chance you’ll end up with an expensive paperweight, oh and we’ve been waiting 15 years for an additional key frame. Edelkrone: Blew the budget on software 🦏 could only dream of and schiffer sponsorships, but you will need a degree in mechanical engineering to tune and maintain your kit. Also, don’t plan on eating anything with crumbs with a 10 meter radius of the device, or indeed doing anything remotely messy or creative. Conclusion? Both parties could do better, especially for the asking price. I don’t mind paying good money, but I expect a good product. 🙄
The struggle is real... i have no idea why this competition isn't any stronger. I mean i am willing to invest big money but i keep seeing both these high end stuff suck... wth. ive been eyeballing with more budget friendly stuff that performs better but there is no tilt... so i am totally lost. i really need the 3 axis and these two came up in the first place for me. but still can't decide. i dont want to feel buyers remorse at this amount of money D:
I should've bought the rhino a year ago. When purchasing the edelkrone slider and head they don't provide you with the necessary power cables to use the machines? These things are already expensive you would think it'll come with it. Luckily I had existing power cables.
Solid review dude. You left out one big test though. All your fans want to know… how do they compare in the vertical belt loop handheld drop glide patented by AP? 🔥👍
Great video. Had seen a fair bit about rhino's UI and ease of setting up shots before, but you really highlighted some pieces that I haven't seen before on the UI and made edle worth considering. I think the only thing missing was ease of setup/packdown, I know that rhino has that battery driven mount... But I guess for a studio shooter wouldn't be setting up/packing down as much a shooter who travels. Really great info, thanks for the efforts you put into this.
Of course yeah the ui on edelkrone is head and shoulders above rhino at the time. Yeah I was going to show that but it really doesn’t save any time just a cool feature.

Great video, one thing I noticed is the weight test is not quite balance since on the Rhino it is including the power supply, maybe add the same battery capacity on the other slider and test.
Question - if I set it up in a studio for a few months where I set the key frames once and have the host always in the same spot will it remember when I turn it off and on? Or will the key frames have to be reset every time
I really like my Rhino slider and Arc ii when it works. I'm having to send it off for repair again and I haven't even owned it for a year. hopefully they can fix it properly but at the moment I question its reliability and would return it if I had the option.

The edelkrone footage was kinda unuseable.... Rhino looks better and I actually like the app more aswell. I like that the Edelkrone slider moves while working, saves a lot of space, thats the only pepper it's getting from me. I have the Rhino slide with pan head myself, I'm deffinetly upgrading to arc 2

$2800 for shaky footage. Cant believe it.
Powli sanm
cool stuff
I am eying the Zeapon system. It gets pretty decent reviews and it comes in at the middle price range.
company Rhino is number one for silder i really one day can used Arc 2
Honestly rhino way more stable & better then edel
24:50 - when u show the rhino tilting down.. why cut the video?? makes no sense at all.. just speed it up if u cant wait, but me personally would prefer watching how it goes all the way. but whatever im buying the rhino
FUCK. cant believe i got the Edelkrone :(
It’s still a great slider I love my edelkrone
If you get to a point where you want to make the switch, we're happy to help out by crediting you $500 for sending in your slider rhinocameragear.com/pages/switch-save
If like me you cant afford either, search 'digital bird camera slider' on youtube.. you're welcome
✌
For that price there are too many cons.
So really? The Edelkrone is Edelcrap? It's a big deal to have durability, and smoothness.
Both expensive as hell😅
Rhino looked better on every shot.
First😃
Why are you interrupting the recording at 24:32, 24:42 and 24:46? You have 3 cuts. We don't see the same test pieces that Edelkrone failed to do. It seems that you deliberately hid it from the audience.
에델크론 박살 !
Can you pronounce Edelkrone more like Adelkronuh 😅, thats how its pronounced
