Hey there, unfortunately I have not tried the Edelkrone sliders, but I'd say they might suit different types of shooters. I definitely envy the modularity and portability of the Edelkrone system. It would be a lot more suited for on-the-go shooters or travellers. The rhino slider seems more suited for a controlled environment such as a studio or a set.
@@ShawnKoh hey Shawn, thanks for your answer. Actually I might have to disagree with you, from what I've seen. The edelkrone option seems to suffer from bad battery life (using canon small dslr batteries on each module. Rather than the arc II that have this internal amazing battery). However, I'm going to use it for studio work most of the time, so this doesn't matter too much for me. I wish that someone could compare how the focus module work on both, that's extremely important for me. I know that arc II have huge limitations right now, but I don't know about the edelkrone system on the other hand. Thanks again and happy new year! :)
Hi Shawn - fantastic video! I'm curious about the adjustment plate that you showed in the video when attempting to center the camera over the pivot axis. Could you link it to me by chance? I do that shot a lot in my product shots and find myself continuing to use my original ARC setup for this. Thanks!
Hey Man! I loved your video on the Arc 2 as well ! @@ShawnKoh Oh thanks man! I have high hopes for the next firmware update. I would settle for multiaxis shots tracking 100% in sync - I think the system has a lot of potential. I may be taking it head-to-head with the similarly equipped Edelkrone soon.
I am glad your unit works, however there a couple of unit out there that are not working. I bought my unit 2 months ago and they replaced my rhino motor but the unit did not work properly at all. I am still waiting for them to figure out what is wrong and send me another unit in return. Paid for the thing 2 months ago never been able to usit on at least one single shot. And I am not the only one who has a defective unit. If anyone is interested in buying one of this go to the Rhino Storytellers group on Facebook and search in the post, there are more upset people then you can realise.
Hey Dragos, I had to wait over 5 months since the pre-order started to get my slider shipped to Singapore. So i understand that the wait can be very long especially since they are a small company. So far mine has worked fine with some minor glitches and I'm sure the team at Rhino are scrambling to fix them. Their reputation depends on it. But for now, as one videographer to another, I understand and sympathise your situation and hope you get what you paid for soon! All the best M8!
@@ShawnKoh I waited 18 months after returning the original Rhino Arc, due to an irreconcilable incompatibility. FINALLY got the Arc II and took it to an important project waiting on it.... it was completely unusable. Everything Rhino has come up with is really great... in theory. They intentionally release an unfinished project, in the hopes that they could string us along with updates. Too may broken promises from them, I'm afraid. I'm eagerly waiting the updates, but after nearly 2 years, I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

I use the nucleus nano follow focus system for this exact reason. At least rhino made the follow focus have the same rail as the industry standard, otherwise they’d have trapped us into only being able to use theirs. It’s nice to be able to manually adjust focus without touching the rig mid shot. It’s just not repeatable sadly :(
Yes you can, provided ur zoom ring isnt stiff. I've tried it on mine and it works, but i dont advise doing it too often. the motor was meant for the focus ring which is always looser/ smoother to turn.
Something I've been unclear on (having just received the Arc II) is that the SHutter Speed selection on the unit seems only to span from 1 second to 30 seconds. How does one go about setting something faster, or perhaps a transition of speeds or a manual approach...?
I believe this is a set limitation, I have not tried it myself but i can briefly remember that there were not many options to extend the shutter durations. You could possibly make the shooting time longer still but during the timelapse when the camera moves and stops for the shot, i think its limited to that 30 seconds.
@@ShawnKoh after playing with it today, I believe I've figured it out. It doesn't mean "shutter speed." It actually controls the duration between shutter exposures. Dumb, misleading name for the setting.
@@ShawnKoh My issue wasn't the long side (30 seconds) but the fast. 1 second is the fastest? Makes no sense. After testing it, I noted that the shutter speed, as the function is called, wasn't even controlling the camera's shutter speed - it was merely controlling the duration between exposures. However, when I followed up with Rhino for clarification, they informed me that I was wrong - the Shutter Speed does control camera shutter speed. I returned it. Sorry. If your company CSR can't even speak accurately to the expensive systems you sell, you don't deserve my cash

**IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING* Hi Everyone, I think I need to address * a very concerning issue* with this product. I feel it is my duty as a reviewer to be honest and truthful with you guys so you can make an informed decision. At this time, I cannot recommend buying this product from Rhino. This review was made along time ago when the product had just arrived at my door. Upon further usage and research, there are many things wrong with this product, there were many bugs that should not be in a released product like this and many promises made that were not for-filled. Now my disappointment solely lies with the promises made by Rhino to their customers which were not for filled, then later complains ignore, and finally excuses from the company stating a lack in man-power and so on. The best way to know how this product is doing is by asking those who have bought them, there is a Facebook page called "Rhino Story Tellers" where you can find heaps of complaints and problems with this product. Now I need to stress how much I wanted to support this product, heck I even made this 12min video without sponsorship. But like I said, I cannot in good continence, recommend this product.
@Time Raider Films Hey there, I appreciate your comment and the questions so let me clarify it here. Firstly, this slider still works, and everything I said in my video is true to my experience, nothing has changed about that. However, in the video, I did not specifically go into features that were not released yet and were still pending in later firmware updated. These were the promises made by the company that were not yet forfilled at the time of making this video. It's been about a year now and these promises are still not forfilled, therefore it was my duty to inform people coming to this video that there are some draw backs with this product. Secondly, the reason I recommend searching for more opinions and reviews is because no one should base a large purchase order like this based on a single review or unboxing. It is your duty as a consumer/ customer to do your own research and to find out as much as you can before buying. You cannot blame a review you saw on youtube if the product isn't what you thought it would be. I'd like to end this explanation by saying that I do not have any affiliation with Rhino, and this Pinned comment was a favor to warn others. If you are not happy with my review or my follow up warnings, I suggest you do your own due diligence and research the product else where. I have nothing to gain from this warning other than to help other potential buyers. So far I'm the one stuck with the product with empty promises, I'm the one warning others, so why is that an issue to be "Curious" about?
Thanks! I appreciate your understanding approach to this, I myself am also frustrated with the brand especially after I put so much effort into the video and also after so many people have watched it.
Wonderful review but I think key frames can be done easily .. instead of setting key frame b in the end u can set it in the middle of the slider so it doesn't focus on object B in the end ... unless it subjects r moving yes its impossible to track the focus until its front the camera itself
Hi Sammi, thanks for the comment. The point of the focus is to rack from one point to another. Setting it up mid-way doesnt solve anything, infact it makes it worse.
For real. I thought about that as well, and I think something like the DJI Ronin - S with the detachable head that you can then mount to a slider would be effing fantastic. The head would get power from the battery pack in the handle, just like the Ronin - S, and then would get power from the slider when you switch it over. It seems so simple. What say we draft some prototypes and make millions?
@@ShawnKoh lol... I lived in Hawaii for 4 years and just the way you speak sounds like all my brah's from back in the day. Did you spend any time there at all?

@@ShawnKoh now personally, are you unhappy because they are not implementing the features that they promised and are taking too long? or are their actual issues with the gear.
@Time Raider Films Hey there,
I appreciate your comment and the questions so let me clarify it here.
Thanks for the review, how much does it cost ?
You'll have to check out the website yourself for that info buddy.
Haha . I will Shawn, thanks
Haha . I will Shawn, thanks
Setting it up mid-way doesnt solve anything, infact it makes it worse.
wow fellow singaporean, i support!
Thanks for the support!!
Great video! Did you know you sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger!? Nevertheless, keep making great vids.
Haha thank you for the support!
Nice review
Cheers!
Xièxiè , brother! 💛😎
Good video...
Thank you
the first company who will combine 5-axis slider with a portable gimbal will be millionaire.
Moza mentioned one over a year ago, but it's been vaporware: www.gudsen.com/moza-air-x
Your definitely from Hawaii, speakin' the pidgin
Sorry to disappoint brah, i’m from Singapore 🙂
@@ShawnKoh lol... I lived in Hawaii for 4 years and just the way you speak sounds like all my brah's from back in the day. Did you spend any time there at all?
@@Silverpinstudios Hahah no my friend, I've only visited Hawaii once :)
where is this filmed?
Singapore! :)
Shawn Koh where in Singapore?

00:34 Pretty heavy jitters, or is it me?
Dacci Pucci yeah it looks like it, but might also be shaking from the timber deck I was standing on.
Nearly 6 months later and still so many issues with my unit!
And to make it worst, Rhino is ignoring these issues and keeping quiet, what a waste of money.
Shawn Koh yeah... the latest company update didn’t fill me with confidence that the issues will be sorted soon...
Hi Shawn and thank you for the review. i am just about to pull the trigger on this system and i unfortunetly came across this extremely bad review of the Arc II. th-cam.com/video/qy47PGgE-K4/w-d-xo.html did you have any similar issues with the quality of the arc II when you first received it? thanks
I would not recommend purchasing this system, there are alot of issues which I only found out after making this video. There were alot of promises made by Rhino that were never for-filled. Check out the FB page “Rhino Story Tellers” and you’ll see a bunch of issues and complaints.
@@ShawnKoh now personally, are you unhappy because they are not implementing the features that they promised and are taking too long? or are their actual issues with the gear. I specifically just want to take smooth macro shots and time lapse. as long as everything moves smoothly then they are better then the competition like edelkrone, and im okay without all the extra features they are promising.
