Was it motor failure or relay failure or something blocking the actual switch on the line itself, we do not know and we need to know. It can be sabotage. There are three back up motors in the point setting machine if one fails next is automatically activated, ... so how it failed?

It was a fate the Bangalore Howrah express which was running late met with the accident. Had the train passed this area 5 minutes ago, many lives could have been saved.

It was the deadliest rail accident. The railway needs to have an extensive audit of signaling system and plug the loopholes. With the ever increasing rail traffic the core systems need to kept up to date and active. Hope no such accident happens again. Prayers for all departed souls.😢
The point from the railway's clarification & your animation is that, all the interlocks, such as position of point machine (Left/Right), occupancy of the loop line, power failure of point oprating motor, finally Station Master comand all are taken through AND gate. If all set then only Green signal can be given. That ia what interlock is- with out setting the point 🚦 can't be given. But in this case it has happened so. Which means some one has tampered the feedback contacts of the point machine which gives feed back that point has moved to perticular side (main/loop)
In my friends duty as station master ,one goods train passed via looped line , though he was through passing via main line,in the panel diagram he saw through signal via main line ,but the train came and go by loop line ,the loop line was empty .This incident took place 8 years back in Assam.

Human intervention is confirmed but it's not yet confirmed whether it was an intentional or non intentional act. CBI has been pulled in at first place to investigate that and before any possible tampering of evidences is done. So sabotage is not yet ruled out. Let's wait for CBI to submit it's report.
A genuine doubt, how could the main line give green signal without the switching of loop line to main line is done. You should also try to explain how the interlocking system works along with the signal. The interlocking system is such that once the changing is completed physically the signals are activated automatically for the direction in which the train should travel. I do not know if there is another scenario in signalling and interlocking. The doubt came in after hearing Sudhanshu Mani's press conference.
The automatic system was interrupted and a manual signal was given Now who has given and why did he give is been investigated The culprits are already found and it's been directed to CBI so that it can be investigated from all sides

We could understand if the interlocking system was connected to the main line and the signal showing red ( this could be the fault of the sensor). But connected to the loop and main showing green. Is it really because of the sensor's fault? Don't know exactly what could have happened unless someone comes with a convincing reply from the authorities.
It can only happen when there is a block taken by S&t dept in which they have cutoff the point machine relay ..,and the interlocking interprets as there is no point but rail with track circuit.

How could this happen, the green signal would only be given when the loop line is changed to the main line. If there is any problem, then the green signal for the main line won't be activated. So there is a disparity in here somewhere

This system is already working in railways very efficiently . Sigal light change and track changing process works simultaneously at the same time automatically as they are inter connected . It is not done manually . That means something gone wrong within interlocking system

Quite accurate animation of train and railway stations..but I will add one wrong information ..there is one signal post for main line and loop line to enter a station(no separate signal post for different lines)..i.e HOME SIGNAL..if it's yellow and with looner then it's loop line and if it's green then it's through main line..
One signal post for up/down line is correct for home signal but yellow can be given to main line also if the train needs to be stop at the platform of main line before starter signal which shows red at that time. Loop line will be taken if the route indicater signal also lit on the signal post with yellow signal.

Accident did not occur at Balasore station it occured at Bahanaga Bazaar Railway station which is near about 20km away from Balasore.

I do not know if there is another scenario in signalling and interlocking. The doubt came in after hearing Sudhanshu Mani's press conference.
I think the sensors were tinkered with by some anti social element or the sensors on the interlocking system were at faulty
The automatic system was interrupted and a manual signal was given
Now who has given and why did he give is been investigated
The culprits are already found and it's been directed to CBI so that it can be investigated from all sides
@@mudit1I hope many things regarding the incident are hidden from the public. If there is a fault in the sensing system, I hope the signals will be red. We could understand if the interlocking system was connected to the main line and the signal showing red ( this could be the fault of the sensor). But connected to the loop and main showing green. Is it really because of the sensor's fault? Don't know exactly what could have happened unless someone comes with a convincing reply from the authorities.

It can only happen when there is a block taken by S&t dept in which they have cutoff the point machine relay ..,and the interlocking interprets as there is no point but rail with track circuit.

Points maintenance failure or interlocking failure or tampered the failsafe system in relay room or unauthorised entry in relayroom

The logic of point machine was changed manually to kill maximum people. It was a planned accident.
@@bartiveera5372 All your points have been debunked by the investigation team except unauthorized entry. The only 2 possibilities is that, it's either sabotage or negligence from the person handling the interlocking system.

How could this happen, the green signal would only be given when the loop line is changed to the main line. If there is any problem, then the green signal for the main line won't be activated. So there is a disparity in here somewhere

The fundamental question is how the fate of thousands of travelers is dependent on a relatively small point machine next to tracks weathering all kinds of situations. What happens when the tracks are flooded. Then does the point machine function or behaves abnormally?

This system is already working in railways very efficiently . Sigal light change and track changing process works simultaneously at the same time automatically as they are inter connected . It is not done manually . That means something gone wrong within interlocking system
When tracks are flooded its international rule that the speed limit is then set to 10 kmph over flooded tracks.

Quite accurate animation of train and railway stations..but I will add one wrong information ..there is one signal post for main line and loop line to enter a station(no separate signal post for different lines)..i.e HOME SIGNAL..if it's yellow and with looner then it's loop line and if it's green then it's through main line..
One signal post for up/down line is correct for home signal but yellow can be given to main line also if the train needs to be stop at the platform of main line before starter signal which shows red at that time. Loop line will be taken if the route indicater signal also lit on the signal post with yellow signal.

They are termed as ESM .They open these units for correspondance test , oilng ,various rigorous schedules ..
It is truely ,unacceptable that the correspondence of this eauipment with VDU with operation manager was lost
Higher ups with aid of survelence machines will shortly be able to get to the core of the matter
Till the truth is out , thousands of mechanics and s&t engineers will have sleepless night

True, atleast there will be responsibility in case of manual setting. While on automatic, if things fail, then they just blame the machine failure and move on.
I think you are wrong here. Its same like human doing calculation and computer doing calculation. Computer is always right. In odisha train accident too it was manual interference by signal maintainers. For more details see my comment
If you had any idea about software you would not say this. As per your logic all software systems of the world should be converted to manual system. FYI the signalling systems work on logic gates: AND, OR and XOR.
