  • Join along as we get the John Deere 8820 Combine wrapped up with finishing the exhaust and listening to it run as it should. Some new filters to insure a good running engine and onto the leaking lines. With some help from Isaah we get the lines fixed up and the machine ready to go when the corn is ready. Thanks for watching along.

Chris, you need to use your loader bucket as your tool tray when working up on that platform. That way you do not need to run up and down. Just turn around, reach over the railing, and grab what tool is desired.

You sir are awesome, yes I’m sure you have had lessons but you can put your hand to fixing just about anything. The best part is how humble you are when it’s a walk through a job you have not done. Another reason we love the channel. It’s honest, dirty (for the right reasons) and you take us along for the ride. It really is a way of life and not just a job. Legend and you should be proud of where you are and that has been your hard work to get there!

I’m amazed at how long the intake runners are. I suppose it is less of a concern when your engine runs a steady load, but there still some governing needing more air response. Would think it would be better if it was a shorter run with a bigger pipe. Or just a bigger pipe for better flow. Shine on! Do you! Ignore the haters.

Stabilize the wood side walls, jack the building up, pour maybe one sided walls to set building on, maybe mini strong backs on cement wall. Building is very expensive use what you have, also protect and utilize what buildings you have. I don’t give a rats a$$ what combine you have as a cheap skate move. I would have bought a 4 row combine that might have fit in one of your buildings. Time to figure out a way to produce a value added product.

The Wright Brothers didn't get their plane off the ground the first time either. This is your first year, you'll get where you want to be, just takes time! Hey, we had 40 acres of corn one year that didn't get picked, It was still standing when it was time to plow in the spring! It got disked down and plowed under, and we planted it, and all the corn germinated, and it looked like a hay field instead of a corn patch 🤣! So, we put the cultivators on the tractor and cultivated it so we could have rows! So your doing good! Windsor Acres over near Harpursville has a lot of corn around the country standing yet!

Why have the grain and the weight of it bury the air filter and surround the rubber hoses and conections every time the hopper is full? It obviously works but it just seems unecessary and a bit awkward to blow out or change.

We own 2,300 in the Midwest and if it wasn’t for grandpa and multiple generations it would be impossible to own what we do. Anyone who actually knows the cost of ground understands that Chris starting out is already doing groundbreaking things. Buying just 100 acres here would be 1-2 million dollars and then equipment isn’t free. Chris is doing something that is almost impossible, being a 1 gen farmer. Show respect. And I’ll be honest, it was a struggle! Several years I couldn’t even pay back my operating note. Now? I haven’t borrowed money for anything in 15 years and my boys just bought a section. IHC had their engines behind the grain tanks for years ,even way before the 503 ,403 etc series. Way better design ,easy to service ,lower noise and cab heat,JD was slow to catch on .

The early Deere 45 all the way up to the 105, all had the engine behind the bin also. Don't understand why they went to the motor be side the cab on the newer series, then they went back to the behind the bin on the later series again. The worst was the old Masseys that hid the motor under the entire combine!@@interman7715

@@interman7715 The older JD combines did have the engine in the rear, 00 and 20 series back in front. Changing drive belts was a real challenge, always an off season job so they were good for harvest.

With corn heading back to 3.50$ a bushel and interest rates rising aren't the "big guys" going to be worse off than the small guys?

Big investors are happy to see farmers" burn equity" they get better opportunities to buy their land and turn them into renters

@ghammond3132you know how many BTOs fail as soon as interest rates hike, you think the banks haven't called the loans in? Your not paying attention if you think a BTO isn't scared shitless the banks will be calling. The free money doesn't last forever when banks start running short on deposits.
