Removing the axle nut that way is a good way to trash your parking gear. Have someone press the brakes or use a long pry bar in the wheel studs against the ground or a screwdriver in the vanes of the rotor.
I preferred to apply grease, before putting on the joint is easier and the grease penetrates everywhere. I also unscrewed the brake line from the shock absorber easier to pull out the joint less stress on the line. I recently replaced the joint on the left side and the right side rubber boot because it was cracked.

i hit it really hard and I was lucky enough to take it off. Sometimes I have to remove the driveshaft entirely...

Same.. With a big hammer nothing i can do.. I have to remove the entire drive shaft.
