As a British person..... I am always, always astounded by how well Dutch people speak English! utter perfection, as with this gentleman. Also with Katharina... flawless English. I only speak French, but with errors of course! What clever people there are in Holland and Germany.

I do not know so much about the Germans, but we Dutch are from a small country and therefore need to adapt to everything in our surroundings. We are open to anything and not afraid to make a fool of ourselves. That attitude gave us the advantage of being able to communicate in so many languages. And of course english is such a beautiful language... 'Bon courage' and stay safe!

@@reneschoon8428 René you are being unduly modest. The Dutch speak the best English in the world outside Britain. I find the Dutch very forthright, and they speak their mind, without worrying. I love to be in Holland, and I cannot wait to return to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra! Best orchestra in the world. Luckily we have many Dutch people here in the UK. Thank you for saying English is beautiful..

@@antoineduchamp4931 Thank you so much for your kind words. I have had the honour to have played in the Concertgebouw myself. And indeed it houses one of the world's best orchestras. Enjoy!

@@reneschoon8428 Great heavens René, what instrument did you play? did you get to play under Haitink? it must be wonderful to look back on your life and know that you played with this very great orchestra....

@@antoineduchamp4931 Now, I must be honest. I am not a professional musician but my father was. I played the clarinet and saxophone in several orchestras of whom (?) he was the conductor. One of those was the wind orchestra of the Amsterdam Tramway: de Amsterdamsche Tram Harmonie. We performed every year in the famous Grote Zaal packed with the residents of several Amsterdam retirement homes. Such an honour and pleasure to give a benefit concert and to perform on that world famous stage.

What a lucky lady she is!! I wish her all the best, and what a fantastic opportunity for her. She will remember this throughout her life.

I think Maestro Ivan Fisher is a genius and is trying to connect the young composer to feeling, creating, making sense of music as a language

He is a truly wonderful conductor: when he and his wonderful orchestra come to London, I am the first to buy a ticket. I have heard him conduct and he is fantastic.
