I can very much recommend the "fewer effects" mod, that gets rid of all the minor (de)buff particle effects. Makes the game much nicer to look at.

I find it hilarious that people are using Angory Tom artwork from when he dressed up as Toddy in place of actual Boris Todbringer. Truly cardio beats chaos.

Gotta admit, it is pretty amusing to me whenever someone uses Toddy as a nickname for Boris Todbringer. I mean, Reikspiel is basically just german in like 95% of cases and Tod is literally just the german word for death (bringer, as you might imagine, is literally the same as in english). Additionally, to make things even more amusing, the german localized name for the Hellcanons is also Todbringer (Boris family name instead is translated to "Wüterich" which you might translate with "choleric person" or, in another context, "violent madman").
And then there's also the one funny exception where Reikspiel doesn't actually line up with german. This exception is the word/name Heldenhammer. A "Held" in german is a hero, so Heldenhammer would normally mean something like "Heroic Hammer" or "Hammer of Heroes". But GW stated that Heldenhammer is supposed to mean "Hammer of the Goblins" in old Reikspiel, meaning that at least during Sigmars Times, their word for Goblin was the german word for Hero...
Ghal Maraz means Goblin splitter in Dwarfish, not Reikspiel, a good example of Reikspiel being not quite German is the Fauschlag in Middenheim, which means fist something, can't remember of the top of my head, but in German Fist is Faust, so Reikspiel is Germanesque, but not quite German like you said.

"Statesmen are considered elite troops, not so much in the base game" I mean, as far as the Empire roster goes.. Hard to look elite when your opponents have armored mutants, sapient dinosaurs and elves that can literally spend centuries training.
And a bunch of really tough, big, green idiots who theoretically could spend centuries training but who instead just spend their whole life fighting so they usually don't get old....
And let's not forget rats with machine guns...

Obviously the lizards needed a sacred artifact hidden in wolfenburg, and chaos just happened to attack at the same time. The artifact is more important to the lizards than killing these chaos warriors, so they work together, if only to kill each other after the battle.

Toddy is the true leader of the Empire.
A lost tribe of lizardmen who had long lost their slann priest. Feral and without purpose the ruinous powers manage to twist what little memory of the old ones they had left to fight alongside the twisted abominations they once opposed to instead fight the lesser races they once protected.
These battles are just so good. I missed these. If only official maps were as epic and immersive as these.
These are by far my favorite type of battles, so thematic and engaging!

@@Aredel I probably trust a lord of change more than Manfred or a skaven. The skaven will backstab you just for spite and manfred would get jealous for some super petty reason and end the universe. At least the lord of change has some plan and will try to stick to it.

Also, three comments about the final minutes:
1. I completely disagree about the policing yourselves rule, the last thing the competitive scene needs is more arbitrary unintuitive rules. SFO has gotten better at this type of balance and most factions have good ways of dealing with vortex spam if needed (Lore of Life has Flesh To Stone which prevents models from dying while under its effects, Lizardmen have their little protection ball, Vampires have their complete and utter contempt for casualties). If the mod needs its costs on Vortexes increased, fine, but playing a game that pushes magic to the devastating force it's supposed to be in lore and then limiting yourself for no reason is just silly.
2. The removal of healing cap is exactly one of the balancing acts SFO has done to give factions who focus on healing in some way or another a way to equal the insanity coming their way. I personally like it but the official submod is there for a reason, as you said. Don't think anyone would mind if the SFO tournaments started using it as a rule, but I think it fits the base (campaign-focused) mod just fine.
3. I love both the battle and your commentary, so please don't take this disagreement as anything else than a change of opinions, it's always quite refreshing to see both a focus on cinematic action and actual deep commentary, so keep it up my man!
1. These sieges arent competitive, they are meant to be fun. If magic is the only thing that does any killing in a battle, if elite infantry and cavalry are unable to even make it into combat, that isnt very fun for most people. There really ISNT much counterplay to magic in either SFO or vanilla, there is no dispelling, if someone wants a devastating vortex to go off in a chokepoint, it will go off, and in SFO it will kill everything that is there. These armies simply arent big enough to allow for 5-10 huge dps/point and click spells to go off during the course of a game and still have room for real tactics and strategy and an exciting battle where troop movement actually matters. So its perfectly fine if you prefer battles to play out that way, but it doesnt make for replays the majority of people would like to watch.
2. The removal of healing cap on normal units is generally fine because they can lose models and killing power. Where its not so fine is with single entities like Boris or Louen or Star dragons, who can cycle charge ad infinitum at peak killing capacity, then run away to the other side of the map any time they get remotely low. In siege battles like this one, that can get extremely abusable if a player wants to abuse it. And in fact I decided not to show another siege recently where that exact same thing happened, it ended up being just Alarielle and a Dragon goon squad against an entire enemy army, and the ending was just 10 straight minutes of cycle charging and heal spamming in a single entity blob where the opposing force just couldnt do anything about it. Wasnt interesting, exciting, or skillful in any way.
3. I appreciate it mate! I respect your opinions and you are welcome to them! But there are elements of both the base game and SFO that are not well balanced and in my opinion make for poor viewing, so in cinematic, fun replays like this one, it is sometimes good for the players to police themselves a bit to make for a more entertaining replay and battle for everyone involved. Important point, the fire of Tzeech deal huge amount of damage but grant regeneration and weakness to fire to the target. So at the end when Boris was like midlife and got blast by this unholy fire he just got the bonus regen for the rest of the 5-6mns of the battle granting him lots of bonus hp with his already equiped item.
I kinda disagree with you when you say no healing cap is bad. I find it normal lorewise to be able to heal unit as long as they are alive. It's OP for the undead i agree because they resurrect but for the realm of the living it's ok. You have to mitigate the damage you take with your single model unit to make the maximum of value and be even more careful to not get nuked with unit with innate healing like Boris and in the other hand to counter that you just have to nuke that kind of unit. A sorcerer of death with spirit leech or metal with transmutation on a chaos dragon would have been better than Kolek, cheeper than Kolek + a caster and some space to get an other unit.
Anyway i really really loved that and wish for more, maybe with the Chosen of Khorne, Sons of the Last plague, Guardians of the Dark Prince desires and Zealots of Tzeentch for the next video ?

Honestly, swordsmen are already fairly good in vanilla. Like, their base melee is 32/32/28 which is really not half bad for how cheap they are. I mean, Orc Boyz are 50 points more and they sit at 28/25/34, so really, they are actually good fighters. They are just held back by the fact that they are human and they don't have the best gear (not making a statement about gear quality hear, I simply mean that arming sword and shield isn't really a great combination for frontline soldiers).
That, and they are facing mutated daemon worshippers and FUCKING DINOSAURS
Viscera cleanup detail: Warhammer edition when? I would legit play the fuck out of that.

Dam seeing Children of the Old Ones fight with Chaos is just wrong.
An amazing game as ever, seeing SFO truly is a completely different beast. I do have a question though. Towers in this game are very strong and have very long range. Why should we ignore the walls entirely instead of manning them with a skeleton crew during the initial engagement and then retreat the skeleton crew when the enemy begins their approach?
They did this for a few reasons. First the defenders were fighting against Chaos and Lizardmen, two of the toughest infantries in the game, with mere State Troops. A single unit of Chosen could mulch up to five units of swordsmen by themselves if everyone is on the walls, because only a handful of models would be in combat at a time, thereby wasting precious troops. Next, the towers are only tier 1, so Chaos and Lizardmen would tank the shots and eat them for breakfast. Third, if they tried to man most of the towers, entire infantry regiments would be completely isolated from any kind of support, so you would be throwing away soldiers and dealing minimal damage, and any soldiers that do make it out alive will be completely exhausted, severely reducing their combat abilities.
@@Aredel I feel like you've misunderstood my question. I am not asking why they stood around and fought on the walls, I'm asking why not man the walls with basic state troops to pepper them a bit on the approach (usually enough to take at least a model of Chosen, which albeight unimpressive every bit helps) and just run away and regroup once they reach the gate, or are reaching the walls. Surely that beats just waiting around doing very little until the Chaos forces arrive, plus they didn't have an airforce good enough to repel wall invaders without El Toddo giving them the business
Mario Jorge the problem is that the attacking formation was too stretched out for the towers to be of any use without investing considerable manpower. And even if the towers could knock out a few models of Chosen, that still wouldn’t be worth sacrificing an entire unit of soldiers.
