  • It's finally time to bring our Baby Base to a close. We have a nice stable base that is not going to run out of anything any time soon. We have ways of dealing with heat, food and Oxygen. So we load two of our dupes into rockets and launch them to the Tear.

Its heartbreaking to watch this series end.. I have binged watched all your playlists of Baby Base, Oasisse, Rime and Badlands.. and finished 74 episodes of Rimworld in last 1.5 months.. Honestly speaking, I am addicted to your content.. I eagerly wait everyday for your upload notification.. I hope this channel grows even bigger and I wish you all the best.. Thank you for your hardwork and dedication.. I am sure you bring a lot of smiles and I hope you stay happy, healthy and well, with lots of chocolates, wine, friends and POTATOS.. And I am sure, I will be impatiently waiting for your 100+ Dupes Challenge series to start, with even longer 45-60 mins episodes.. Good Luck to you..!!

Puft princes only make regular puft eggs. Also pufts require 16 spaces per puft, so only 6 pufts, or 5 of a puft variant and a puft prince can be ranched in a max space room.

I have a request for a tutorial that I would really like to see, and that is other ways of temperature deletion minus the steam turbines. Nobody discusses those ways anymore, but they can prove useful for many of us, especially for early-game or minimalist colonies.

    • @raismin739
      @raismin739 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

there are not many of them and they fall way behind steam turbine
items inside fridge have automaticaly set the temp at -4 °C if is using power, but organic ooze have very bad thermo reaction, so is slow and you have low mass, meaning you have low cool potential (if it's still in the game)
debris that melting have lower thermo capacity if you cool down you lose thermo energy (like regolith have more energy when melt into magma)
the ice machine have enormous dupe labor and is dificult to setup, is way easier to get a steam turbine
the air cooler(the fan) require dupe labor and water, two very precious resource
is early game (before steam turbine) if you want to cool down some areas is way easier to put a cooling loop that pass trought a cold biome
just rush to the steam turbine XD
unless you are having a challenge to not use it, that case... good luck :) (rocket to icy asteroid?)

Ice makers delete lots of heat. You need to fill them, then drop the ice somewhere, like inside a big tank of water. On my last playthrough (100 dupe challenge) I used ice makers for all my heat problems up until I got steam turbines going. Actually, I still have them going, since I have the dupe labor to spare. NOTE: do not use the icy fan. just drop ice wherever you want it to cool (slowly), or dump it in water, or make ice based tempshift plates.

    • @mastergame6778

The baby base series has been great! Pushing outside your comfort zone has lead to some pretty entertaining episodes and a few inspired builds. I know you poke around on reddit some, there are a lot of folks who found inspiration in your series and seeing their bases (in addition to yours) has been fun all on it's own.
Holy smokes I'm excited for your 100 dupe challenge. I've watched a couple and every episode was very entertaining because of how frantic it gets trying to supply resources for 100 dupes. I haven't successfully completed one, but what I have found out is the asteroid's resources are hugely important; some asteroids just cannot support 100 dupes fast enough. Also, I always ended up with one or two flatulent and if you haven't seen one in play before they're hilarious (even if they screw up your airlocks).

My problems were also with dirt for research which I supplemented for most of my game with pips, and I wasn't even remotely prepared for the heat my single rocket generated.

Hey Fancis thanks for another wonderful video.
I played this game all by myself without any guide or tutorial about a hundred hours. (Mainly because there's no real community in my mother language)
Then I started to look for youtube tutorials and I felt like I faced a great wall for me to play.. I thought I was too dumb to play this game. Every tutorial I found were teaching me stuff with too expensive materials. So I stopped this game for a year or so.
And then one random day, your video poped-up out of no where on my youtube main page, it was taming the cool steam vent. The video is short, I loved your fast talk(I get impatient when youtubers are slow talkers) and over all, it was very informative and fun to watch.
Then I started watching all your video, learning incredibly nice tips and I finally succeeded to launch my first rocket ever.
I am still struggling to stablize my base from first rocket launch and forward on, however, I am pretty confident now, although I am still failing bases every now and then. But I don't feel down anymore. I gained so much confidence and assurance to play this game. All thanks to you, I finally get to enjoy this game a lot. It's on my most played game on steam now.
Be safe out there Francis! Thank you again.

I'd like to see a tutorial on the new automation stuff, namely Ribbon, Pixelpack, Signal Selector and Signal Distributor. In particular for the Pixelpack.
Even though I use it a lot, it also feels like I'm doing it wrong. I already used it at least once for:
    -Battery meter
-Thermometer, particularly at a range where the Temperature Overlay is useless
-All in one infoboard (4x4 Matrix where each Pixel represents one thing, e.g. Polymre Press running or not, Meteor shower incoming, filling level of the main water tank, etc.)
-Wallpaper, purely for its aesthetic and decor
I am now at a point where I use it mainly as a wallpaper. Its a nice thought at first t ouse it as a gauge or similar, but all the storage buildings already have a gauge on their texture. Same whether a machine is running or not. I can just pan the screen over and check for myself. No need to use a Pixelpack there. Maybe I'm just used to the old way of things and can therefore not get used to the Pixelpack.

This was a great run. Love seeing you shrink everything down and then shrink it some more. What I think you should do, the next time you start an entirely new Rimworld series, is come back to this base and get the stats on those two you launched through the temporal tear and make a custom rimworld scenario where they crashland together. With absolutely nothing. Just those two, some steel chunks as rocket wreckage, and maybe to bring the exosuits over give them both a set of awful quality recon armor. Hitpoints down to like 55% too so it doesn't give you an outrageous amount of starting wealth. It would be fun to see if these two could do what's imagined in the temporal tear launch video: build a thriving colony of their own. All you'd need is the prepare carefully mod. For my part, my Rowan is now the founder of a thriving colony that just hit 60 pawns. And he traded in his science credentials for building stuff and hit 20 in construction and he is now very happily married. I want to see what those two could do if they land on a rimworld.

Mass ranch plastic dreckos, throw the plastic you shear into a sour gas boiler, this allows you to ranch 25 kgs of polluted water per plastic drecko per cycle under ideal conditions. This way whatever the map throws at you, you can raise as many dupes as you have space for. You might consider raising pips using wild trees to have a sustainable supply of dirt for the mealwood.

I feel like ur gonna go wild with the 100 dupe. This baby base has constrained u alot and now that ur free from it looks like the next series will be crazier

The word you where searching for was, intimate. this map was intimate every block was earned hard-fought tested and focused untill it melted and then it was built again but stronger RIP baby base

Great series I really enjoyed seeing all the micro designs you made.
Also a tutorial on dupelicant efficiency would be nice.

I was sad to see this one end. Even more so than I was when your first Rimworld run was over. I do like the way the statue seemed to be giving the final rocket a love tap as if to say, "Go get 'em, Tiger!" I'm looking forward to your next pet project. Keep up the good work, Francis.!

Thanks for the spoiler warning this map was awesome, a propper challenge, a big base would be great or a themed base however that would look. aaanyway always a pleasure to watch these

I think the default maps should be smaller, not as small as baby base, but small enough that you need to think carefully about how you use space.
    Great series by the way!

If you are looking for a new possible challenge try this idea out for size; Whatever asteroid and conditions you want but if a critter can do the job of a machine you must use them. No carbon skimmers, no water purifiers, no metal refinery, no lights. See how quickly you can get ranches automated and if you can reach space with a focus on ranching.

Oh that would be killer. I have went mass ranching before and it tanks the frame rate. I had over 100 poke shells, 64 slicksters and 64 hatches. I have to pull a thanos to get the frame rate back. It's possible early game or with a small population but once you start scaling up it kills your PC.

Great series, thanks for the entertainment. As for your next series, the internet is offended by your suggestion that it would recommend making your game harder for its sadistic pleasure. The internet now demands you do the 100 dupe challenge using only lumber as power, and all your dupes have to be narcoleptic.

I believe 200 Dupes Challenge with only two choices for new dupes on the hardest Asteroid with Real Max difficultly seems like an appropriate challenge for Francis.

Great series I liked how personal it was with each dupe being important. I'd like to see a tutorial on pre space sour gas boiler options. Also for 100 dupe challenge try with no steam turbines.
