Wow! I was amazed with the huge difference the trim and paint color made when it came to the “floating” animals! So smart. It looks so much more purposeful and cozy now.
oh my goodness!!! what a difference you have made! I hope your dad is also now enjoying his bar area more. Sometimes we buy an item of furniture because we actually dream of a FEELING, but once we get it home, it doesn't always translate. I hope your Dad can FEEL now, that what he wanted his bar to create and why he wanted a pool table is finally able to happen thanks to skills that he didn't have. Now, they are a destination together creating years of future memories and new traditions that hadn't been happening if it just all stayed the same. It might not have been broken before, but "better is better". I hope he is encouraged to share with you other visions he had for his home that he would like guidance to tweak. What a beautiful gift you and Andrea have given your parents, all the sisters and brother-in-laws and all of the grandchildren
This is beautiful! I hope we get to see more of their home as you continue making changes. LOVE! I want to see your dad's pool table space as well and when your mom gets her island!
Agree. I would have loved an overall view of the whole space. It was hard to get the vision she was talking about, for me anyway. The little shots of the different areas looked fabulous! How bout it Lisa? ❤❤
I think your Mama is blessed to have children who love her and your dad so much that you gave up of your time, treasure and talents to bring their home to life. Good job, you all. God bless each of you.
Thank goodness we mothers have daughters that can help us with design! My daughter has a great eye for design and she helps me a lot! Beautiful home! Great ideas!🙌🏻👏
Can you make a SHORT of your dad saying it’s okay to embrace moving something you love for a change that makes living together more meaningful and enjoyable!
You really need TWO of those sectionals to fit the space😊 they would fill the room out more, provide plenty of seating and look very custom! The whole room is looking great. May I also suggest carrying over some of the green paint to the kitchen area, maybe add the same molding and paint to the left of the wood stove/rock.
Love the "shouse" concept. Did you know that in Northern Germany/probably also the Netherlands, farmers lived in a "Hallenhaus" which is basically the same concept? They were build 13th to 15th century and many can still be visited today. Some are kept the same and work as a museum, others are renovated into modern living spaces. They all have living quarters combined with a large shed for tools and cattle, with a big open living area where the open fire was. I wonder if the "shouse" derived from it when settlers came to America. So cool to hear about this concept in an American setting, it makes perfect sense that people thought of it elsewhere, too.
I love the home of your parents!! The land looks wonderful! We have an open concept home and have done just what you recommended. We carved out little spaces to create a cozy space. Thank you for sharing your parents home. I've often suggested a Q & A with your parents as they did such a wonderful job raising their family. I would love to hear their ideas on everything about raising a family!! God bless your family!!
I enjoyed this, thank you. I like the use of spaces. With a game room area and the dining/living space, and the space is still large enough for children to play nearby 🥰 . The simple solution to the floating trophies was great!! Really nice. I also like how it’s evolving over time, For budget, but also, when you have lived in a home for 20 years, even wanted changes, can be an adjustment. Easing into the changes is a great way to go. Thanks for sharing.
Wow everything look great ! As a lover of having some area rugs I personally think a nice rug would look fantastic under the table. It would further define the space and would provide more warmth. I’d get a darker rug and one that has a light weight so you can clean it and it would dry easily ! Excellent job! Would love to meet your mom and other sister !
We had a shouse 40 years ago when our kids were little and my husband had a mechanic business. After moving a country church and making it into our home, 30 years later we are in the process of doing a shouse again for our retirement years. We are looking forward to one level and everything in one space again. Thanks Jo
This is such a special video. I am so inspired by your parents and the life-giving home they have created. It’s easy to want our homes to be “finished”, when in reality, it’s the story that makes the home. The thought of starting to build a house that my daughters help me finish is so good, true, and beautiful. I would love to hear your mom speak about her marriage and motherhood journey because whatever she did, it worked. My life’s dream is a home full of grandbabies running in and out from the creek!
Oh I love it! My husband and I have a goal of Lord willing one day building a barn house much like this one. I love how y’all are making it have its own spaces with how open it is!
You all did a great job!!! It looks really good & I’m sure feels so much better for your mom and dad. Isn’t funny how we can get stuck in our ways and not realize there’s a better way? 😊
Beautiful! We are practically neighbors. We are in south central IL and here, we call them "Barndominiums". We completely redid our old farmhouse 22 years ago (wish we would have done a barndominium then) and completely gutted our entire home. Opened up the kitchen dining area and also turned the old garage (and added 8 ft. onto it) because our family was beginning to grow. Have 3 kids that married and now we have 16 grands and adding another to the clan this fall so we knew we would need more room. We basically did the same thing. Couldn't tear out all the walls b/c some were load bearing, but opened up the entire area and now we have so much space to move around. The kids/grands live close and we get together all the time so this new space is amazing. Anyone thinking of doing this needs a great vision of what they want and go for it. It seems daunting at first, but when it's done, it's so satisfying to have so much space. The grands are all over this house and we have room for everyone with some to spare. Great video.
What a difference these changes have made! It looks so cozy yet sleek and so much more usable for all. Your mom is lucky to have the helpful input from you and your sister. So often you just don't see the potential in your own space and need another set of eyes or two to help you see the vision. And I totally get your father's it's perfectly fine why change it. I live with one of those too 😞❤🐝
Well done ladies!! Everything you've done is perfect so far-cannot wait to see what else yall do. Keep us posted Lisa. This is all SO great. The sectional brings out the warm color of the wall beautifully.
I love the decision to do the picture rail and paint below it. To extend the kitchen more, I can see a hutch/kitchenette ( even the old entertainment unit) on the wall in the old dining space. It could be used as a coffee bar or extra storage and has the bonus of obscuring the view into the toilet.
Definitely needed the visuals to see what you're talking about! Big improvement, especially the two-toned wall color to break down the big area of wall.
Good job working with your parents belonging and adding new style and color! It is a hard thing to work with other peoples loved belongings, but you have done it well!!!
Awesome job! We have wanted a barndominum metal building when wood was off the charts expensive. Now wood is back down lower than metal so we are thinking post frame building.
I like you all have done. It's nice to see done over time and not all at once. Will you share more of how your parents house is turning out when they get the other pieces in?
This was so helpful and enjoyable to watch. We are looking for our next home and who knows we may try something like this. Our current home is open concept but not nearly the volume 😅
Great ideas! We are building something similar right now and I've been struggling to figure out how to make it feel cozy and not just one giant open space. This was helpful!
Love it so much!! My husband and 4 sons are also hunters and until this past winter I’ve had deer and turkey mounts in my house. I would love to have the space your parents have so we could display them again!
Wow, I absolutely love this concept! We call those down here in the south, barndominums. I'm hoping to have one for myself one day, so your ideas were very inspiring to me! Just beautiful!
I absolutely loved this video! Your home design videos are my favorite because they are so realistic. I’ve been working on my open concept living room and kitchen also.
I needed this ! Thank you so much ! I love what you did for your Parents what an improvement! I have an open concept home , at least the kitchen , dinning and living room are . I struggle so with the living room ! I’m going to incorporate some of your ideas .
I absoutley love this!!! We want to build our retirement home on our 40 acres that we have owned 18yrs!!! Time for a home, we built a small get away cabin on it when we first bought it❤❤❤
Great job!! Is there room at the end of the dining table on that wall for a large hutch to kind of balance out the fireplace rock on other side of room? This is a much better use of the space! Love it!
Lovely! Our home was built in the early 2000’s. The living room and kitchen are open concept, which I love. But the dining room is tiny and is off to itself. Therefore, it’s seldom used. It’s too small for large family gatherings and we have to set up two folding tables in the large living room during the holidays. 😅 Your parents’ living space is now perfect for all kinds of family gatherings, impromptu or planned! And it’s beautiful and inviting at all times. Love it!! Bravo!! Great job!!
Very nice! I think your Mon needs another sectional, the room is large enough and it will offer more seating for the whole family when you’re all together.
It looks like a home but like a vacation lodge too. Absolutely stunning. You all did a great job. Those animal pieces are the highlight to it having a real high end cool look. love the colors it all blends seamlessly together. All I can say is oh wow! I just love it has to be my favorite place ever. Peace!
You, your Mom and sister did an amazing job at this open concept home! Can you please also show us the bar area? I would also like to know how high the TV is mounted off the floor and how tall the credenza is? I would love to mimic this look, but on a smaller scale in our cabin. Both of my parents are really enjoying the changes!
What about moving the bear in with the pool table and bar?
This is beautiful! I hope we get to see more of their home as you continue making changes. LOVE! I want to see your dad's pool table space as well and when your mom gets her island!
Me too!!
Agree. I would have loved an overall view of the whole space.
It was hard to get the vision she was talking about, for me anyway. The little shots of the different areas looked fabulous! How bout it Lisa? ❤❤
Would love a series on the entire barn house makeover! This was great.
I think your Mama is blessed to have children who love her and your dad so much that you gave up of your time, treasure and talents to bring their home to life. Good job, you all. God bless each of you.
Looks beautiful! The paint on the wall makes a big difference. Can't wait to see the kitchen finished.
More of these type of videos, please! Your parent’s house look great!
Their home is really looking beautiful. My two favorites are making "rooms" within the open concept and the lovely wall color under the animal mounts.
Yes I agree with you. They have so many people to seat, that would be a great idea.
I agree that an identical sectional sofa on the opposite side leaving a small pass through in the middle would be fabulous and so custom looking 🤗💕
Love the "shouse" concept. Did you know that in Northern Germany/probably also the Netherlands, farmers lived in a "Hallenhaus" which is basically the same concept? Very interesting...thanks for sharing!!
This is a practical concept - shopkeepers have been living above or behind their stores for centuries. It makes sense that farms would do likewise.
My Opa grew up in one in the Netherlands!
I love the home of your parents!! The land looks wonderful! We have an open concept home and have done just what you recommended. We carved out little spaces to create a cozy space. What y'all have done is like night and day. I love, love, love the spaces! Keep us updated as she adds to her design.
WOW!!!!! This is an amazing transformation!!!!!!! Your parent's home is so unique and beautiful!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed this, thank you. I like the use of spaces. With a game room area and the dining/living space, and the space is still large enough for children to play nearby 🥰 . Thank you! They re really enjoying it and we sure had a good time working together on this project.
Adding the extra color on the walls... wooooooooow ¡¡ it made a world of difference Mashalla so so soooo lovely
Oh my word! YES!! My husband would be happy to leave everything "as is" FOREVER! LOL
Beautiful changes!!
Really enjoyed the tour. Extra special as you didn’t use all voiceover. Your mom’s place looks awesome! You have a knack for cozy decorating.
Wow! It looks great with the separate areas, very cozy, can’t wait to see the island in her kitchen! 😊
Such a beautiful transformation into something so warm and cozy! All of that just brings warmth to the space! It’s absolutely beautiful!
We had a shouse 40 years ago when our kids were little and my husband had a mechanic business. After moving a country church and making it into our home, 30 years later we are in the process of doing a shouse again for our retirement years. We are looking forward to one level and everything in one space again. Thanks Jo
We are so looking forward to building our retirement home in the country on 40 acres, we have owned and dreamed of a one story home
Wow! It looks fabulous!!! I love the changes to the animal mount wall, and the dining table is gorgeous!
Thanks so much! 😊

Fascinating video! Thank you! What a sweet, wonderful thing you've done for your parents. Truly a thoughtful, and we'll done job!

It looks great. In Texas and Tennesse we call this type of build a barndominium.
I just LOVE the changes made to your parents home. Good gisuals for both mom and dad. I now see how all the family can fit. Great job ladies. 😊❤
Definitely needed the visuals to see what you're talking about! Big improvement, especially the two-toned wall color to break down the big area of wall.
Your parents home looks great, quite a challenge! You girls did a great job!
In the Northeast they call them... Barndominiums. ,...LOVE how you created and made the wall below the deer in the living room space.
I always wondered how you could all fit in your parents house each week!! Nice re-purposing the space, beautiful!
Thank you! 😊

Wow, I absolutely love this concept! We call those down here in the south, barndominums. I'm hoping to have one for myself one day, so your ideas were very inspiring to me! Just beautiful!
The house looks beautiful and comfortable.
So beautiful Lisa!! Love your parents house and the openness of it!

I love the couch. Very nice touch.
I needed this ! Thank you so much ! I love what you did for your Parents what an improvement! I have an open concept home , at least the kitchen , dinning and living room are . I struggle so with the living room ! I’m going to incorporate some of your ideas .
Love the house. The wall separation made a huge difference! I like the green color a lot!
Thank you!! 😊
beautiful! Looks so much better.
I think so too!
I absoutley love this!!! We want to build our retirement home on our 40 acres that we have owned 18yrs!!! Time for a home, we built a small get away cabin on it when we first bought it❤❤❤

Thank you so much!
WOW! How beautiful! ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
It looks so great! Very inviting, warm, cozy! Great work ladies
Thanks so much! 😊
We are in our mid 70’s and we have a barn house very much like this! We live in north Florida
Love it!! Bravo!! Great job!!
Thank you so much!
Great results so far! I've seen several repurposed entertainment centers similar to theirs used as kitchen cabinets... just a thought.
Very nice! I think your Mon needs another sectional, the room is large enough and it will offer more seating for the whole family when you’re all together.
I agree, beautiful room but the sofa is too small for the space and their very large family.
It looks so nice! Cozy and homey and relaxing!
Thank you! 😊
Looks great! Your mom must be thrilled.😊
Wow! Love love love the transformation! Looking forward to seeing the updates along the way ❤
Nice of you gals to help your parents ❤
We had fun!
Job well done!
Looks great! You have such vision and talent to put it together ‼️
Love it‼️
It looks like a home but like a vacation lodge too. Absolutely stunning. You all did a great job. Those animal pieces are the highlight to it having a real high end cool look. love the colors it all blends seamlessly together. All I can say is oh wow! I just love it has to be my favorite place ever. Peace!
Thank you so much!
This makeover is great!! I love the color y’all chose. This is such a fun family house ❤
Thank you!! 😊
You, your Mom and sister did an amazing job at this open concept home! Can you please also show us the bar area? I would also like to know how high the TV is mounted off the floor and how tall the credenza is? I would love to mimic this look, but on a smaller scale in our cabin. You have such great decorating ideas!
