Jeff Dolan I actually ended up going to a locksmith and got a new key for $87 dollars wayyyyyy cheaper than what ford would of charged me you could also try wrapping they key with tin foil and seeing if that erases it
Bought a used 15 F150. Love it. Only one key. Accidently MyKey'd it. Bought another key. Used PATS and programmed theother, but it looks like it copied it as another MyKey. Erased all keys and then reprogrammed the 2 keys again. Still seem to be Mykey'd programmed. Any advice?
It's dumb u have to have the tool. Ford. You should be able to call them and give them a bunch of proof you're the owner over the phone and they should be able to give you a secret thing that unlocks it. Money money money.

I have a 2016 F250 and we are trying to program (or re-program) keys for the truck using a TopDon T-Ninja 1000 key programmer. But when it starts to do the 10 min security check after about 3 minutes it says "Security access failed!". Have you ever experienced anything like this, if so what would be causing it and how do I fix it?
You should get Forscan. Everyone who has a Ford vehicle should get Forscan. You just pay the $12 annual extended license in order to program the PATS/key module, every other function is free.

I have only one original key and it's nit corresponding with car, have to use the key to manually open the door and start. Have changed battery and it will only once open the door but then nothing. The only way to clear a mykey without a admin key is to erase all known keys with the Ford IDS scanner. In order to complete this procedure on the scanner you must have 2 keys to program back into the pcm and complete the procedure. They can use a Rotunda 8040 key as the second key they are like $30.

I have a 2016 Expedition EL and an Autel M906BT scan tool. The Expedition was used and only had one key. My key is set up on it according to the dash. I have successfully programmed other keys with this tool but for some reason when I try to access PATS after the 10 minutes I get a security access failed message. I also am getting a code saying the code to the BdyCM is lost yet I can access the diagnostics of the BdyCM and when I do a scan it doesn't come back with any failures. What can I do to get into PATS so I can program a spare. I suspect this was a fleet or rental vehicle before, is there some way they shut off the ability to access PATS so customers couldn't copy a key and if so how would I reverse that? +Dan Carlin unlock the truck electronically, cycle the key 8 times ending in run the locks will lock and unlock at this point press any button on each remote, turn key off. Now both should be programmed.

+Kenny Budden In general they are very reliable a few valve issues, you will need an egr cooler soon enough for a P0401. Most problems with these seem to be in the def pump and egt sensors easy fixes.
Hard for anyone else to guess what "you are expecting from it". Only you and the truck know the answer to that question. I would expect it to run and drive in a normal manner other than Minor repairs and replacement of parts as the reach their normal service life.
Good morning Brian, I got a SimpleKey programing device and I was able to program my key. The problem is I did program 2 more keys, I can run the car with those but the remote functions doesn't work. I call the company (Simplekey) and they told me the remote FOB spots (not the key) has to be erased to give space for the 2 news keys. Erase only the FOB is something that can be done by myself or do I have to go to a dealer? Thank you, Brian for your help.
only had that one it was for a limo only came with one fob one key and a valet key just had the main key stolen and the one fob all I have now is the valet key was goin to get 1 key and 1 fob saw your video about the pats how to delete keys if I just get one fob can I program it with valet key and will that delete the stolen one? And with the pats once I have all previous key deleted will it program 1 new key and the old valet key or do I need to new keys plus valet key
@FordTechMakuloco Hi I have a 2012 5.0 and a friend of mine accidentally put his key into my ignition triggering the PATs system which often triggers a no start case/no crank. The only way I get it on is by messing with it for a few minutes or turning the key 8 times back and forth after a few tries. Is there anyway I could fix this myself? If I do have to go to Ford what procedure would I have them do, reset the PATs/Keys? Your response is greatly appreciated!!!
Hi. I have the old system on my ranger 2002. The remote doesn't not open the car if the stays on the sun. If the car is in the shade or at night there is no problem. It seems that the alarm system doesn't like the sunlight. Could you help me with a suggestion ? Thanks
Suddenly this morning my remote operation of my key fob stopped working. I assumed it was a battery problem but replacing the battery did not solve the problem. I then discovered that my other two fobs were also unable to lock, unlock or carry out any fob functions. They still start the truck but no fob functionality. Finally, I discovered that the door (exterior) keypad was also unresponsive. Is this something that a P.A.T.S. reprogram will resolve or do I have another issue such as a security module failure?
Dirk DeJong Good question. My key fob stopped working and so I replaced the battery which fixed the problem, but now my driver side key pad won't work. I wonder if they're related. How do I fix this new problem?
Are you talking about the door keypad? You probably will need to reprogram it using the factory code. I did that right away and had no more problems with it. By the way, I resolved the other problem ( all fobs not working) by disconnecting the truck's battery for 15 minutes.
Dirk DeJong yes, the door keypad no longer responds. I didn't think it was due to replacing the battery on my key fob. I have not checked the other key fob ( I have two ), but now I'm thinking I should check it to make sure they both work. After changing the battry on the key fob, I tried changing the door key pad code to the factory original, but it still didn't respond. I'll try your suggestion and disconnect the negative battery terminal first and then reconnect and try to reprogram the door key pad. Thanks!
If i was to do this because I swapped out my cluster and currently running a custom sct tune would i need to flash to stock first? Or is it ok to erase keys and program them without any problems while on my custom tune?

I have a 2011 f150 3.5l. It only came with ONE key fob (1) and a regular key that Ford made for me(2). I put in a remote start antenna and one if those 2 aftermarket keys DID program and start it(3). I think #4 key was the original missing fob key. However: Forscan does not give ths "unlimited key" option and this model will only keep 4 keys. and I'm afraid if I delete ALL the keys, even my original won't work afterwards. There is NO info on the net that I can find will tell me the steps...can you? Thanks!

I deleted all keys on a 05 lincoln town car. To reprogram the same keys again. But programing failed. Using xtool d7. I suspect that its the PATS . not sure why it allowed to delete but not allowing to program 🤔
I have a 2008 Ford F-350 that I would like to erase all keys, which I bought used and it only came with one key, and reprogram that one key I have that came with it along with 2 extra keys that are aftermarket with built in fob. The transponder chip in the aftermarket keys are the same as what is in the original key. I also got the fobs to program to my truck as well because they have the same FCC ID. @@FordTechMakuloco i have an 08 ford escape thst i did on this proceedure on. And now the dealership cant get the car to reprogram the 2 new itk keys or the older psts keys to start the vehicle. They now want to replace the transceiver and cluster because that's what the pinpoint test is telling them. So how, on older ford vehicles if you erase all known keys and go through the key relearn proceedure and it does work how do we get the pcm to accept the nrw keys so my vehicle will start again? We even tried the proceedure where you put the key in on the run podition for 15 mins cycling the key to reset the 15 min timer 3 times for a total of 45 mins to reprogram a master key and it didnt work. We even reset the parameters and we are getting two constant codes now though that we cant erase a B1260 and B1600. Please help.
HELP!!!! We took our 2012 Expedition with one working key to Ford Dealership (small one in small town) to get another key. (Our second key was busted.) We were told that all extra key spaces were already used so no more keys could be programmed. They then did the erase all keys process. But now the truck will not accept/program any additional keys. So we have a no start truck. What computer/box is the key memory in as this may be the problem and how difficult is it to change out that component?
I have a ford tourneo 1.8 TDDi of 75hp year 2006, I have changed the vp44 pump for a scrapper, and it does not start, it turns the engine, but it does not start. I've been looking at forscan but I don't have much idea how to use it, is it possible to adapt the vp44 scrap pump to the ford tourneo with the forscan? I have an ELM327 ford adapter, and it works with the forscan, but I don't know what function to use in forscan to adapt the pump, if it is possible. Greetings, any advice is welcome.

I have replaced a bcm in a 2012 Ford f450, successfully reprogrammed the new bcm, but am unable to program the keys afterword, is this something the dealer has to do? Doesn't appear that fjds software has the ability to program keys?
Can you turn off the PATS system? I have a couple of older crown vics for demo cars. I completely stripped out all the interior, including the wiring. A couple of the cars I was able to delete the PATS with HP Tuners. These cars have the three plugs on the side of ECU, HP Tuners calls them a Spanish Oak ECU. 2004, and back have a different ECU, the only way I can describe it is that it has a single 104 pin connector, and is inside of car, and connector protrudes through fire wall. HP tuners does not support these ECUs, so I cannot delete PATS, needless to say the cars won't start. No fuel pump, and injectors won't work. I only have enough wiring to make car start, and run, so I don't have any of the modules to hook transponder to.

@@Myayarmetoplzsub I bought one with only one key too. Short answer is 99.9% of the time you'll need another key. Get it done somewhere other than dealer. Should be about 100 bucks including the programming.
Hello to anyone that can assist me in understanding the PATS system on a 2012 Ford Focus. I recently replaced a corrosion pin BCM with another 2012 Ford focus BCM. Both are written with the same as built data per search by vin. With that being said I now can't start Focus. Says Key not detected? Will Forscan help me with this? Weirdest thing happened. The battery in my 04 Explorer died, I took it out at lunchtime and installed a new one at dinner. Some how, the PATS disabled the ignition. The security light on the dash flashed code "1-5" indicating it lost the memory of the keys which was confirmed with a scan tool. I then proceeded to reset the PATS which took about 15 minuted and had to re program the old keys again. Is there a battery in the PCM like a motherboard of a PC that remembers these things and is it possible dead?

Ok so i called ford dealer and they said there records only go back ten years. My f150 is a 2001. The locksmith here tried but couldn't program the key. Said the pcm was not accepting new key code. How to I get the security code from the vin to program a key? Ford or locksmith should know how to do this but either cant or wont help.

Just did this myself with ForScan. Bought my Explorer back in September and just now got around to this. Found 3 keys programmed but I was only given 2. Cleared them out and re-programmed the two I have.
i only got the remote key hen i bought my escape. they want about $300 to make a key and program to reset my vehicle. i didn't know this was an aption. no idea how i even set it. there has to be another way.

I just programmed a new pcm in a 2010 transit with the ford subscription that you mentioned. they had pats functions listed. do you have atleast 2 programmed keys? if so you don't need any subscription or ids

I know I've had three seperate ones that could start the car over the years. I cannot seem to get the one i just had cut program. I suspect this was a fleet or rental vehicle before, is there some way they shut off the ability to access PATS so customers couldn't copy a key and if so how would I reverse that? +Dan Carlin unlock the truck electronically, cycle the key 8 times ending in run the locks will lock and unlock at this point press any button on each remote, turn key off. Now both should be programmed.
that is what i have been doing and it (for whatever reason) does not seem to work, might try new battery's in the remotes.

+Kenny Budden In general they are very reliable a few valve issues, you will need an egr cooler soon enough for a P0401. Most problems with these seem to be in the def pump and egt sensors easy fixes.

Hard for anyone else to guess what "you are expecting from it". Only you and the truck know the answer to that question. I would expect it to run and drive in a normal manner other than Minor repairs and replacement of parts as the reach their normal service life.
Good morning Brian, I got a SimpleKey programing device and I was able to program my key. The problem is I did program 2 more keys, I can run the car with those but the remote functions doesn't work. I call the company (Simplekey) and they told me the remote FOB spots (not the key) has to be erased to give space for the 2 news keys. Erase only the FOB is something that can be done by myself or do I have to go to a dealer? Thank you, Brian for your help.

The only way I get it on is by messing with it for a few minutes or turning the key 8 times back and forth after a few tries. Is there anyway I could fix this myself? Hi. I have the old system on my ranger 2002. The remote doesn't not open the car if the stays on the sun. If the car is in the shade or at night there is no problem. It seems that the alarm system doesn't like the sunlight. Could you help me with a suggestion ? Thanks
Suddenly this morning my remote operation of my key fob stopped working. I assumed it was a battery problem but replacing the battery did not solve the problem. I then discovered that my other two fobs were also unable to lock, unlock or carry out any fob functions. They still start the truck but no fob functionality. Finally, I discovered that the door (exterior) keypad was also unresponsive. Is this something that a P.A.T.S. reprogram will resolve or do I have another issue such as a security module failure?

Good question. My key fob stopped working and so I replaced the battery which fixed the problem, but now my driver side key pad won't work. I wonder if they're related. How do I fix this new problem?
Are you talking about the door keypad? You probably will need to reprogram it using the factory code. I did that right away and had no more problems with it. By the way, I resolved the other problem ( all fobs not working) by disconnecting the truck's battery for 15 minutes.

yes, the door keypad no longer responds. I didn't think it was due to replacing the battery on my key fob. I have not checked the other key fob ( I have two ), but now I'm thinking I should check it to make sure they both work.
After changing the battry on the key fob, I tried changing the door key pad code to the factory original, but it still didn't respond.
I'll try your suggestion and disconnect the negative battery terminal first and then reconnect and try to reprogram the door key pad. Thanks!

I have a 2011 f150 3.5l. It only came with ONE key fob (1) and a regular key that Ford made for me(2). I put in a remote start antenna and one if those 2 aftermarket keys DID program and start it(3). I think #4 key was the original missing fob key. However: Forscan does not give ths "unlimited key" option and this model will only keep 4 keys. and I'm afraid if I delete ALL the keys, even my original won't work afterwards. There is NO info on the net that I can find will tell me the steps...can you? Thanks!

I deleted all keys on a 05 lincoln town car. To reprogram the same keys again. But programing failed. Using xtool d7. I suspect that its the PATS . not sure why it allowed to delete but not allowing to program 🤔
I have a 2008 Ford F-350 that I would like to erase all keys, which I bought used and it only came with one key, and reprogram that one key I have that came with it along with 2 extra keys that are aftermarket with built in fob. The transponder chip in the aftermarket keys are the same as what is in the original key. I also got the fobs to program to my truck as well because they have the same FCC ID. @@FordTechMakuloco i have an 08 ford escape thst i did on this proceedure on. And now the dealership cant get the car to reprogram the 2 new itk keys or the older psts keys to start the vehicle. They now want to replace the transceiver and cluster because that's what the pinpoint test is telling them. So how, on older ford vehicles if you erase all known keys and go through the key relearn proceedure and it does work how do we get the pcm to accept the nrw keys so my vehicle will start again? We even tried the proceedure where you put the key in on the run podition for 15 mins cycling the key to reset the 15 min timer 3 times for a total of 45 mins to reprogram a master key and it didnt work. We even reset the parameters and we are getting two constant codes now though that we cant erase a B1260 and B1600. Please help.
HELP!!!! We took our 2012 Expedition with one working key to Ford Dealership (small one in small town) to get another key. (Our second key was busted.) We were told that all extra key spaces were already used so no more keys could be programmed. They then did the erase all keys process. But now the truck will not accept/program any additional keys. I have a ford tourneo 1.8 TDDi of 75hp year 2006, I have changed the vp44 pump for a scrapper, and it does not start, it turns the engine, but it does not start. I've been looking at forscan but I don't have much idea how to use it, is it possible to adapt the vp44 scrap pump to the ford tourneo with the forscan? I have an ELM327 ford adapter, and it works with the forscan, but I don't know what function to use in forscan to adapt the pump, if it is possible. Greetings, any advice is welcome.

Can you turn off the PATS system? I have a couple of older crown vics for demo cars. I completely stripped out all the interior, including the wiring. A couple of the cars I was able to delete the PATS with HP Tuners. These cars have the three plugs on the side of ECU, HP Tuners calls them a Spanish Oak ECU. 2004, and back have a different ECU, the only way I can describe it is that it has a single 104 pin connector, and is inside of car, and connector protrudes through fire wall. HP tuners does not support these ECUs, so I cannot delete PATS, needless to say the cars won't start. No fuel pump, and injectors won't work. I only have enough wiring to make car start, and run, so I don't have any of the modules to hook transponder to.

@@Myayarmetoplzsub I bought one with only one key too. Short answer is 99.9% of the time you'll need another key. Get it done somewhere other than dealer. Should be about 100 bucks including the programming.
Hello to anyone that can assist me in understanding the PATS system on a 2012 Ford Focus. I recently replaced a corrosion pin BCM with another 2012 Ford focus BCM. Both are written with the same as built data per search by vin. With that being said I now can't start Focus. Says Key not detected? Will Forscan help me with this? Weirdest thing happened. The battery in my 04 Explorer died, I took it out at lunchtime and installed a new one at dinner. Some how, the PATS disabled the ignition. The security light on the dash flashed code "1-5" indicating it lost the memory of the keys which was confirmed with a scan tool. I then proceeded to reset the PATS which took about 15 minuted and had to re program the old keys again. Is there a battery in the PCM like a motherboard of a PC that remembers these things and is it possible dead?

Hi I have a question I have a 2010 F150 I lost my keys and I had a locksmith come make me a copy and program them something went wrong along the way and he couldn’t program them. I found the correct person to program the keys and when he tried to go into programming mode the vehicle is in like security mode it shuts off the cluster and doesn’t let him go in to programming mode. what can I do P.S I think is giving him code P1260

Ok so i called ford dealer and they said there records only go back ten years. My f150 is a 2001. The locksmith here tried but couldn't program the key. Said the pcm was not accepting new key code. How to I get the security code from the vin to program a key? Ford or locksmith should know how to do this but either cant or wont help.
There is no key code, just a transponder ID inside. You must use a quality key from strattec.

MyKey isn't the same as this. MyKey, the way I understand it, is to set restrictions to a working key, like Max Speed and other stuff.

Just did this myself with ForScan. Bought my Explorer back in September and just now got around to this. Found 3 keys programmed but I was only given 2. Cleared them out and re-programmed the two I have.
I did this as well with great success. The cost of the $30 ELM cable well offsets the cost of towing plus dealership fees.
i only got the remote key hen i bought my escape. they want about $300 to make a key and program to reset my vehicle. i didn't know this was an aption. no idea how i even set it. there has to be another way.

I just programmed a new pcm in a 2010 transit with the ford subscription that you mentioned. they had pats functions listed. do you have atleast 2 programmed keys? if so you don't need any subscription or ids

I have my two original keys and hate them. I have been using flip keys for a few years. I know I've had three seperate ones that could start the car over the years. I cannot seem to get the one i just had cut program. I'm seeing there might be a limit of four keys that also have the remote attached?
