I can't imagine disabling Find My on my AP2. I keep them in my pockets with my other stuff so there is a good chance of me dropping them. Find My is a great feature. I can imagine switching it off on Airpods Max but no way on Pro.

Pre-ordered the Sony earbuds and have used the 1000xm4s since they came out, but all of the mic tests I've heard of the AirPods Pros have been overwhelmingly better. It's a shame that they Sony flagship earbuds don't have so much clarity.
@corey7219 I also had battery issues. The wf-1000xm4s didn't last a full two years before the charging case died in addition to the right bud only holding about an hour of charge. However, the sound quality, battery life, and fit (after switching to Comply foam tips) were so much better than anything else I've tried, which is why I'll try the wf-1000xm5s. Airpods pro 2 are must if you are an IOS user. After upgrading to Comply foam tips, they are so much more comfortable and bass is little more punchy. Previously, I tried using Bose QC 2 earbuds and they were a nightmare. They would randomly disconnect or won't pair and the sound would glitch out at times. I got so annoyed to a point and back to airpods. The whole experience using Airpods is just so much better as an IOS user. You can make them sound even better by adjusting the EQ in your music app (I use spottily) but their stock eq is good enough.
Thanks for the concise review. I’ve read a lot of reviews over the last week and this consolidated everything well and talks about the important factors. Nicely done. Sounds like AirPods sound better on calls and they have findMy which is underrated feature. I don’t care for the design of the AirPods How do these compare to previous generation?
The multi-point connection to any 2 devices made me decide to pick these up. These will be great for work since I use my iphone for calls and pc for everything else. I'll use my airpod pro 2 for when I'm home or traveling and using my iphone and ipad.
I generally prefer sony, but I don't like the new design. The shiny plastic just makes it look really cheap in my opinion. It's even worse when you consider that they used to have recycled plastic there, which means the new earbuds lost the very small amount of echo-friendliness that they did have, just so they could look different.
Thanks for this video! I have the airpods pro 2 and Bose Quiet Comfort II. Both are so good with ANC. I put foam tips on my Airpods pro 2 and they are even better than my Bose now. This sounds like a good pair to get if I decide to just get an extra pair but I'll pass for now due to the price. Airpods pro 2 are on sale for $199 brand new at this time.
In India, AirPods Pro 2 costs around $300 after discount so getting Sony XM5s would be an easy choice also I’m slowly trying to leave apple ecosystem so again Sony would be a better option for me.
Had a rough experience with xm4 and customer care for somy really sucks and can't forget the unequal battery drain issues which is such a headache Though these might be premium I will stick to galaxy 2 buds pro
I've been using the Bose QC IIs for their noise cancelling that was far superior to my Airpods Pro 2s. However, I've missed the audio quality of the Sony's. I'm cautiously optimistic that with the XM5s I'll get the better noise cancelling and the better sound quality. Most of my calls are indoors and I found the XM4's worked well enough that I never had a complaint.
It is AirPods for me. It even reminds you instantly on your phone if you leave your AirPods behind say in a flight or taxi or a restaurant. Plus the call quality is way better with decent sound quality. Lastly being in the Apple ecosystem just helps me seamlessly connect across all devices.
I own both and they are both amazing earbuds. The Sony has more options on selecting your equalizer in so many levels. AirPods can charge on a wireless charger. The carries are cheaper on the AirPods. I give the edge to Sony.
I have both. Mic quality is slightly better in AirPods and transparency mode is also better. On absolutely everyone else, the M5 are much, much better. In sound quality the M5 is miles ahead.
Buddy what about tge more comfortable? Lest say for 6-7 hours wear continuously, which one will be the most comfortable, I liked your all the reviews, you explained well
@@WarrenPuffet thank you, and you said it have a better microphone with better noise cancellation + better sound quality, so over all Airpods pro 2 are the best right?
My question is: can u compare two earbuds when airpods was released like one year before and had firmware patches to fix or improve their earbuds while sony has just came out without any firmware patches? Maybe in six months sony could improve (or not) call quality or transparency or other features.
I like SONY's compack size rather than Airpod's Stem. But, I really don't like that SONY don't allow to change the controlling option, Just as Soundcore App & also many other earbuds. I find that AWFUL in terms of consumer comfort. Loved the shirt with stripes, Following the sweet colour... 🙂
Did you do the mic test with an apple product? Because I heard from another video after another test that apple products don’t like the codec of the non-apple headphones so it reduces the sound quality.
@MikeOBrienMedia Great review! I am seriously considering an upgrade from the Jabra 75t. How well does the Sony M5 work with only one earbud in? If you needed to share a pair (with my wife) in a quiet environment... could we each use one earbud while listening to the same device (the Jabra 75t doesn't seem to do this)? Thank you.
Hi there. I also have a Jabra product and now have the XM5 buds. The short answer to your question is that the earbuds work independently and you vould share them with someone else or use them one by one.
Much appreciated. I was going to get the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2 as I have Samsung gear, but my wife has the headphone version of these, and they are fantastic. I did not realize there was a Buds version. The AirPods lose many features when using my Samsung phone, and these look on par. I still think the Samsung Pro 2 are nice buds (and I may kick myself when the next version is rumored to drop any time), but these seem to be in a different class. Anyone that has alternative ideas, feel free to let me know.
Since every pair of TWS I have usually goes through tip rolling, a lot of what made the wf-1000xm4 and now the xm5s have very good anc are the foam tips they use I find. I’ll have to try with the xm5s whenever I decide to get them but the xm4’s anc somewhat feels less effective if you go with certain silicon tips. The call quality is a dealbreaker though, specially in noisy environments where the AirPods were a lot better in.
i've just unpacked mine XM5.... first question (i had the same problem with XM4) How to enable AMBIENT SOUND and stop the music WITH THE SAME ONE TOUCH ?? sounds so obvious ... (and it works like this with Sennheisers) (i don't want to keep holding one earbud for a minute if i want to talk more - quick attention mode)
I love the pinch controls. Tap controls are annoying and easy to accidentally trigger. I prefer the stem just for the pinch controls and swipe up/down for volume. I own sony XM4 headphones and hate the touch controls on that with a passion.
After purchasing and trying the Sony earbuds, I found that I really don’t like the touch controls. I’m constantly brushing up against it accidentally. Also, I don’t like the fit with the foam ear tips. I think I just prefer silicone ear tips. Also, I hate the transparency mode. It’s not natural sounding at all.
One reason to buy non-Apple for iPhone users is, out of principle, not buying bluetooth earbuds from the phone manufacturer that removed the headphone jack.
what do you think is better for absolute audio quality between these and the Beoplay EQ? I have the latter and they're still going strong so I was wondering whether this would be an upgrade or a downgrade.
Got to say that Sony aswell has one Feature in the App where the Headphones Play a loud Sound so you can find them. However that does ofcours only Work when you already are near them
I went AirPods Pro for in ear, Sony for over. IM kinda meh with the pros. Year end and they have had some problems, they shouldn’t have. Charging issues, one replaced because of a tinny sound, wouldn’t connect to darn phone.
It's worth 300. Although it was a good video the mic sounds different in each person's video. There was one guy who denied sponsorship and did a free review on it. Was labeled a 9 for mic and wasn't static
@@jessiestarr4600 that's double bad if Sony can't even keep up their QC and sends out review units that are DOA. Something like this should never happen.
I've been using airpods pro 2 for about 2 years now, I recently lost them and got the Sony's. Airpods are better in EVERY way. They fit way better, way more comfortable. The Sony's hurt my ears after 2 hours max, I have tried every tip included, its the design. Noise cancellation and Ambient mode are not even a competition, Apple is just so far ahead. Price? Airpods are like $150 (at least in Cad) cheaper than sony. I didn't want to get airpods again because I use android. But if you like good good earbuds airpods are the clear winner.
While I'm excited to try these, I have my doubts about them being the best. The Denon PerL Pro (Previously Nura True Pro) earbuds are so far beyond everything else, I don't think anyone else is going to catch up anytime soon. AptX Lossless, Perfect Transparency, Incredible ANC and a microphone that is comparable to a dedicated desk mic... Give them a shot if you really want the best out there.
Are the sony that you are testing a pre production unit. Heard those units have some phone call issues. Just wondering. I ordered mine yesterday. So excited to get them.
Can't wait to get the Sony earbuds was gonna get another pair of galaxy buds time to switch up for better features this gonna be a great gift for myself for my birthday next month ❤
It's good performance it was a good video but some key points were missing and were big ones at that. And top it off they have super small tips now which fits amazing in your ears I love them way better then my xm4s headphones these earbuds replaced my headphones. Wish transparency was a little better but that's my only gripe about this product. I use the new s23 ultra smart phone the mic is a good improvement from the xm4s the device you use not matter to much sounds the same and I feel that the mic was better on my Samsung phone vs my apple product

Had a rough experience with xm4 and customer care for somy really sucks and can't forget the unequal battery drain issues which is such a headache
Though these might be premium I will stick to galaxy 2 buds pro
just ordered the xm5 and WOW the noise cancellation is infinitely better than airpods
Sony blocks out female voices? Ok I’m sold
Whhy
I've been using the Bose QC IIs for their noise cancelling that was far superior to my Airpods Pro 2s. However, I've missed the audio quality of the Sony's. I'm cautiously optimistic that with the XM5s I'll get the better noise cancelling and the better sound quality. Most of my calls are indoors and I found the XM4's worked well enough that I never had a complaint.
Xm5s are really good
Both variants of the xm4 are pretty bad sound wise so u def mean sound signature not quality
@@carlozzz3300 I meant sound quality.
It is AirPods for me. It even reminds you instantly on your phone if you leave your AirPods behind say in a flight or taxi or a restaurant. Plus the call quality is way better with decent sound quality. Lastly being in the Apple ecosystem just helps me seamlessly connect across all devices.
Awesome content and video comprising as always bro
My AirPods Pro gen 1 are dying, so I’m primed for a new or buds. This video was very helpful!
Did you end up getting pro 2s?
I own both and they are both amazing earbuds. The Sony has more options on selecting your equalizer in so many levels. AirPods can charge on a wireless charger. The carries are cheaper on the AirPods. I give the edge to Sony.
Man, I like you. Your contents are realy usefull. And nice and fair expanation
I have both. Mic quality is slightly better in AirPods and transparency mode is also better. On absolutely everyone else, the M5 are much, much better. In sound quality the M5 is miles ahead.
Base batter than Pro ?
Buddy what about tge more comfortable? Lest say for 6-7 hours wear continuously, which one will be the most comfortable, I liked your all the reviews, you explained well
AirPod Pro 2 are vastly more comfortable with silicone vs foam tips. You can buy aftermarket’s for the Sony
@@WarrenPuffet thank you, and you said it have a better microphone with better noise cancellation + better sound quality, so over all Airpods pro 2 are the best right?
Ldac is 320 kbps. (Cd and studio quality ) Regular Bluetooth is 192 kbps. I notice a difference at loud vol for sure.
For me the most important thing is always the transparency modes. So personally I would go for AirPods
My question is: can u compare two earbuds when airpods was released like one year before and had firmware patches to fix or improve their earbuds while sony has just came out without any firmware patches?
Maybe in six months sony could improve (or not) call quality or transparency or other features.
Six months later is a deal breaker because cannot enjoy good call quality immediately for the big lump sum paid for XM5
In terms of the case size and dimensions, which one is more pocket friendly?
I like SONY's compack size rather than Airpod's Stem.
But, I really don't like that SONY don't allow to change the controlling option,
Just as Soundcore App & also many other earbuds.
I find that AWFUL in terms of consumer comfort.
Loved the shirt with stripes,
Following the sweet colour...
🙂
BILLY STRINGS is one of the greatest living guitar players in this Era 👏. Highly recommend listening to him on either one of these comparisons. 😊
I like my xm5s noise canceling more then the air pods and the mic is pretty good
Love my Bose QC II. Curious to try the Sony but the foam tips tearing worries me. But he didn't mention it in this video
The foam tips are absolutely amazing. Would recommend foam tips with any buds tbh
Did you do the mic test with an apple product? Because I heard from another video after another test that apple products don’t like the codec of the non-apple headphones so it reduces the sound quality.
Compare them with the galaxy buds pro 2 next!
Ironically I just bought Sony WF-1000XM5s because of an annoying lady behind me on a plane and I thought I needed a better noise blocking headphone!
Great Review, I am surprised, and new subscribed :)
Technics AZ80 comparison please. These are the 2 buds I’m debating with this year.
How do you think the Sony XM5 compared to the Xm4?
@MikeOBrienMedia Great review! I am seriously considering an upgrade from the Jabra 75t. How well does the Sony M5 work with only one earbud in? If you needed to share a pair (with my wife) in a quiet environment... could we each use one earbud while listening to the same device (the Jabra 75t doesn't seem to do this)? Thank you.
Hi there. I also have a Jabra product and now have the XM5 buds. The short answer to your question is that the earbuds work independently and you vould share them with someone else or use them one by one.
I think they similar enough that the one thing that we need to consider is which one fit better
I’m buying ear buds today and needed to see some differences between these two. My choice is also the Sony. Thanks so much for sharing this video!❤
I still think the Samsung Pro 2 are nice buds (and I may
kick myself when the next version is rumored to drop any time), but these seem to be in a different class. Anyone that has alternative ideas, feel free to let me know.
I like AirPod more, but becoz I moved to Android, the best option is Sony. Although, has less music quality and mic chat.
I also would like to hear a comparison of comfort. Also how likely for them to drop from the ears?
This is also what i wanted to know
i've just unpacked mine XM5.... first question (i had the same problem with XM4)
How to enable AMBIENT SOUND and stop the music WITH THE SAME ONE TOUCH ?? sounds so obvious ... (and it works like this with Sennheisers)
(i don't want to keep holding one earbud for a minute if i want to talk more - quick attention mode)
What is that blck ring you are wearing? Is that a fitness tracker? Looking for an alternative to Apple watch!
Looks like a smart ring to track sleep, heart rate ,etc- you might find similar if you google
Great, clear style of presentation 👍🏼
Are the Sony xm4s worth a buy cause of the price drop. I just got them for around $120 but I need to know if I should switch to xm5s or not.
Do you have any battery drain issue with one of earbud
Because am having left earbud battery drain issue
@@franksingh1384sony will cover it even after warranty, just sent mine in last week. one of their firmware updates caused the earbuds to overcharge.
My Link Buds S silicon tips fit perfectly. All I had to do was just transfer them over new XM5's and I'm good to go (no more seal issues).
The microphone quality is day and night, AirPods are definately on top. This critical for me.
Which one you feel sound louder?
Probably the Sony. I use ear safety on the AirPods so they don’t go over 95 decibels 😂
Both is loud enough to cause hearing damage, you'll be fine with either 😂
One reason to buy non-Apple for iPhone users is, out of principle, not buying bluetooth earbuds from the phone manufacturer that removed the headphone jack.
Hi Mike. What do you think about the Technics EAH -AZ80?
Better sound quality of music is my priority ❤
How is the call quality in the car?
Great review thank's
I sold the XM4’s to get the Air Pods and have never looked back, until now…
what do you think is better for absolute audio quality between these and the Beoplay EQ? I have the latter and they're still going strong so I was wondering whether this would be an upgrade or a downgrade.
Any Bang and Olufsen is going to have the best sound. The Beoplay EX, sound wise destroys every TWS, IMO.
Does it sound better than senhiser tws?
Sound Is The Most Important To Me And The Airpods Pro Can Not Even Compete With The Airpods 3 In Sound Quality
Got to say that Sony aswell has one Feature in the App where the Headphones Play a loud Sound so you can find them. However that does ofcours only Work when you already are near them
Best review on the internet, every Damnnn time. Love your videos!
I went AirPods Pro for in ear, Sony for over. IM kinda meh with the pros. Year end and they have had some problems, they shouldn’t have. Charging issues, one replaced because of a tinny sound, wouldn’t connect to darn phone.
Very nice video. The Sony Microphone in the test was bad. Therefore not worth the $299.
It's worth 300. Although it was a good video the mic sounds different in each person's video. There was one guy who denied sponsorship and did a free review on it. Was labeled a 9 for mic and wasn't static
Definitely worth the 300 lol
@@pugondabox yep,
@christopherjimenez5095 some people ended up with faulty xm5s that they reviewed has had mic problems I don't have the issue
@@jessiestarr4600 that's double bad if Sony can't even keep up their QC and sends out review units that are DOA. Something like this should never happen.
Now, which one is louder xm4 weren’t loud enough?
I've been using airpods pro 2 for about 2 years now, I recently lost them and got the Sony's.
Airpods are better in EVERY way. They fit way better, way more comfortable. The Sony's hurt my ears after 2 hours max, I have tried every tip included, its the design.
Noise cancellation and Ambient mode are not even a competition, Apple is just so far ahead.
Price? Airpods are like $150 (at least in Cad) cheaper than sony.
I didn't want to get airpods again because I use android. But if you like good good earbuds airpods are the clear winner.
ist worth upgrading from xm4 to xm5?
Nope. Xm4's are still amazing earbuds even though a newer model is out now.
Concisely speaking, if you are in Apple ecosystem, you definitely should buy AirPods Pro 2.
While I'm excited to try these, I have my doubts about them being the best.
The Denon PerL Pro (Previously Nura True Pro) earbuds are so far beyond everything else,
I don't think anyone else is going to catch up anytime soon.
AptX Lossless, Perfect Transparency, Incredible ANC and a microphone that is comparable to a dedicated desk mic...
Give them a shot if you really want the best out there.
Mike what do you say by comparing WF-1000XM5 vs Pixel Buds Pro :)
Are the sony that you are testing a pre production unit. Heard those units have some phone call issues. Just wondering. I ordered mine yesterday. So excited to get them.
I don't have any issues with the mic I'm pretty sure this TH-cam got a bad pair cause it don't sound bad like this on my end.
@jessiestarr4600 some youtubers got a special pair for them to test. I'm not referring to the mainline ones.
@@mikeecalvary gotcha
Can Sony wf1000xm5 be used independently left or right bud.
Sony's mic on XM3-5 seems to not up to par with the price they charge for it. I am surprise by the way Sony seems to still struggle with this.
Can't wait to get the Sony earbuds was gonna get another pair of galaxy buds time to switch up for better features this gonna be a great gift for myself for my birthday next month ❤
Mannn, i think Sony design kind of missed the mark in this iteration. Good performance tho.
Sony don't have a stick, which is legit sticking out so even if they where worse they would still be better
I have airport pro 2 and just under 2 years I have cracking noise coming from one side.I think I will try Sony this time.
