They definitely care at Grand Tourer james, as with the rest of the workshops I've come across. I've been lucky on that account to have found such dedicated trades people.
Australia got and gets so many Great FORDS that we never even see in the U.S. I would LOVE to take at least a half dozen models that are Australia spec and convert them to left side drive. You Australia are THE CLEVELAND KINGS!
Noooooo. While I understand your perspective that would be sacrilege. There are RHD cars going in the U.S. If I shipped an American car over, I would leave it LHD as many are doing in Australia. I know there are challenges driving them on that opposite side, but you're not likely to drive a classic as an every day driver.
My father brought an XA coup it had 20,000 miles on it. In the mid 70s. Looked really good. Very quiet to drive didn’t know it was running. Until it rained. My uncle was a panel beater he went over the entire car found rust holes as big as fist holes in underneath front guards and rear panels Windscreen was masking tap and clued in Due to the track was rusted away. Only thing worth saving Was the engine and transmission
These guys were my inspiration 10 years ago when restoring my yellow Ochre Jack Brabham XY GS Fairmont, their photo gallery on their built site was invaluable, Dan was very helpfull.
Absolutely wonderful video Dave....Really enjoyed that ..Love my Fords...especially anything that has a Falcon on it ,,I've owned the following ..XB ute , XE GL , EF Futura , BA Fairmont Ghia , AU ll Futura and 19 years after buying her still got and she runs as good as ever and a gorgeous FG XR6 since 2016 as well .. Also four Escorts and a Telstar Ghia at different times .. Cheers ..
No doubting your Ford fascination Rodney. Thanks for your comment. There's a few other videos from Grand Tourer I hope you'll also enjoy. Some more to come as well.
Who doesn't love a Falcon coupe? Back in the mid 90s you could pick these up for anywhere between $1000 for an auto 6, up to $10000 for an RPO83 XA GT. I passed up a XB GS 4sp 302 coupe in about 1994 for $3500, as I was 18 and didn't have the money.... They are big old boats and rust badly - as anything pre 1980s did... Call me a traitor, but I ended up getting into Holdens and have owned half a dozen VN to VY V8s and still own my VY Calais LS1, which is putting out around 400hp at the crank. I'm hoping to get a VF LS3 soon
I got to admit, I am a Holden gal, but I was mesmerised watching this. I DO love allot of the cars from 70's-80's. Id give my left arm to drive that tango falcon!! 🔥🔥🔥
@@davesclassicgaragetours yes, interested in the continuing series in this build. badass car! shop's doin it right and the owner seems locked in too, knows exactly what he wants. nice :)
Fantastic video enjoyed it lots. Knowing Dan and Grand Tourer the quality of cars leaving GTR will be spot on. Great to see Thommo's legacy live on with these iconic Australian Muscle Cars getting another life. Thank you Dave from GTR very informative. And Dave behind the camera awesome work.!!
My story-I was 17 in 1978 and my first car was a white XT ex-police pursuit with 302W column auto. It cost me $1800.00. I fitted twin exhaust, and 4bbl Holley carb, lowered it a bit. It was pretty stock, front bench seat, sturdy suspension, uprated springs. My mate had an LS Monaro with 308 Trimatic, black vinyl roof, twin system etc. stock but nice. Showing off one night in Sydney in the wet, aquaplaned of the road, went through a very sturdy brick fence and totalled the XT. Haven’t really thought that much about it really until I saw a video recently on a black XT GT tribute build from W.A. What might have been?? Anyhow, time marches on and one thing does surprise me and that is how the Australian Muscle Car is now such a valuable commodity. Maybe one day i will get another XT (if I can find one first up, and can I afford one!!). Cheers all!
It’s a right of passage is that Rod. I stacked my first car, a Mk2 1600E Cortina up the rear end of a transit. We live and learn. At least some of us do.
I hade a lime glaze xa matching number GS fairmont. Now I’m in the process of building my xb falcon and the colour is tango. And looks absolutely stunning. Just in the process of getting the bodywork
Beautiful cars. Your passion shows in your work. Had a 68 Torino GT fastback with a 390 block with I think 428 heads. 390 stock manifolds would not fit the heads. Of all the cars I ever owned it was my favorite. Never had not one single problem with it. Not one. Wasn't quick, but was very fast.
Great video, high quality production and a great workshop doing top tier work. I have the Grand Tourer DVD’s from years ago. Neil was so passionate about the GT’s, he is missed. Subscribed!
Just reminding me of my stolen phase 3 , found it burnt out. Yes a real phase 3 original owner , not replica stolen then burnt. I’ll never get over that one.
I get ithe MadMax reference in the title; this is the car how it looked from the factory - whilst a great video, I agree with some of the comments asking where is Mad Max and feel your title is straying into clickbait.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars, trucks and busses including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.

The Coupe that was the Interceptor, was purchased in Orange NSW when the crew were travelling west to make the movie. Brand new of the showroom floor.
My first car was a XB panel van

Got all the GT DVDs too , great shows, didn't know Neil passed, very smart man when it came to GTs , sad to learn he passed away

Didn't have a passenger side mirror either.
Please forgive a little poetic license. Hope the rest of the vid didn’t disappoint.

A GT not having a rear anti-sway bar as standard fitting?
So there is NO Mad Max Interceptor in this clip at all
No. Just an example of the model it was based on. How it would’ve left the factory …except it’s orange rather than white.

Not quite sure how a little Anglia relates to these big Aussie beasts but there you go.
I dont think anyone would know excactly how these cars were out of the factory
If anyone does, it’s Dan. Years of experience and study into the subject.
I came here for mad max. But it’s a show about boat anchors
An example of the boat anchor that the Interceptor was built from.
