- Alan Watts in this lecture emphasizes that the ideal of Religion is to get rid of it eventually. While giving a lecture on the practise of Yoga to his audience, Alan Watts portends that Yoga just like every other religion should be dropped. All Religions are like a path leading to Self-Realization. They are like signposts, so to say. They are not the address.

My Religion/Cult is called Critical thinking combined with comon sense. I have a strong set of morals and understand right from wrong. I don't need a Pastor, Iman, Father, Minister to tell me how to live a good life.

Ah the title is wrong, the point of the speech was never to get rid of religion, but how to not be overly dependent on religion
Hinduism is a pluralistic religion which believes that there are multiple ways to achieve enlightenment, while Abrahamic religions believe in only one way and if u don't you are a heretic . The existence of religion isn't really bad at all but forcing everyone to follow it and not allowing them to question is dangerous

the problem is that you are basing your life around a fantasy book and confusing fiction vs reality. Christianity & Islam are based on the Old Testament - a fantasy book with talking trees, talking animals, zombies, magic, 950 year old people, mythical global flooding, and a hundred+ scientifically & morally BACKWARDS passages. That's the birthplace of your religion.

Ephesians 6:5 “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.”

Some people need it. For some, like myself, being human is a miserable existence. Some of us long for something more. I think religion has been responsible for more good than bad, but it does make some people happy, so let them do what makes them happy.
I disagree. Religion has demonstrably done far more harm than good. Even if some good people do some good in the name of religion doesnt make it true or justify all the evils brought down on mankind by religion.

Yes let's get rid of religion and also government., laws, taxes, individual rights, cars,trucks,airplanes, clothing,stores,houses,roads,buildings common sense and just live anyway we want. Does that make sense too. You wish against the God who created all things and for you not to recognize that is for you to be just plain ignorant thinking. You were made in the image of God with the ability to think and love and hate and to choose how you need to live on this earth. God granted you life so that you could worship and love God and accept his provision of salvation from your sins. You are responsible for your actions and thoughts. We din against the God who made us and He died so that you wouldn't have to but make no mistake, you can wishful think about things and reject Jesus and his message but you will not change what God has written in his word concerning you and the future that will come to pass. You need to repent which means you need to change your mind about sin, about God, about his word and about this present world. You only get one chance in life to make things right.
(1) If we get rid of all religions, we will get a new religion that will worship some idol. So, the goal should be to improve the religious life of society, not to get rid of religion. (2) The ideal of yoga is to assist religion and healthcare. (3) When we are talking about yoga, we should take into account not only Hindu yoga but also Chinese yoga, especially Taoist Esoteric Yoga - the mother of Chinese medicine.

The problem is that capitalism is also a religion and that one is celebrated by all with absolutely no second thoughts… making Trump a saint… talk about lucidity and vision.
We are just like dry leaves being blown hither and thither by the "great creator", who created all this universal "jhanjhat" and who is "in charge" to keep us going from bad to worst, so that the "four ages" jazz can materialise. Gods are a unsubstantiated premise presented solely by bald assertion. The arguments for this belief are circular in nature presented by apologists arguing from ignorance. For the most part the belief is contingent on geographical location and cultural leanings of the people that raised them, the gods of latitude and longitude.
