Nisargadatta - Meditations from the book ''I AM THAT'' (1)
มุมมอง 36ปีที่แล้ว
Meditate with selected excerpts and pointers from the book "I Am That" by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. This compilation is intended for deep listening and reflection. The book 'I AM THAT' was for me a light and a way out during my period of crises. Contemplating suicide in 2017 after a terrible heartbreak and bankruptcy, I searched for an escape from my troubles. Somehow, this book came to me and ...

Alan Watts - How to improve myself
มุมมอง 145ปีที่แล้ว
Alan Watts in this excerpt opines that our desire to improve ourselves does not often yield the intended effect. As a matter of fact, doing good can be destructive, he argues. The freedom from the bondage of perpetual desire to improve ourselves comes when we realize there was nothing to improve in the first place. #alanwatts #god Speaker: Alan Watts (1915 - 1973) A British philosopher, writer,...
Alan Watts - Nobody can be God!
มุมมอง 208ปีที่แล้ว
Alan Watts in this excerpt says that in the end - nobody can be God. We try to be responsible and create a better world. But the fact remains that we really cannot do it. We think we can by will power. But will power has a limit. It is actually when we 'give up' (when we realize that we cannot do it), that change / transformation happens. In other words, such states like Nirvana or Enlightenmen...
Alan Watts - Buddhism corrects your vision
มุมมอง 287ปีที่แล้ว
Alan Watts in this excerpt from his lecture on Buddhism explains that Buddhism corrects your vision by getting rid of illusions so that you see clearly. Buddhism unlike religion is more like a dialogue. Alan Watts - The frustration with Desire
มุมมอง 12Kปีที่แล้ว
Alan Watts in this excerpt from his lecture on Buddhism explains that we are engulfed in a loop of desire to end our suffering. Buddhism teaches that desire is the root of suffering but one thing is clear, the desire to end suffering is in itself a desire. In the end, all forms of desire is nothing but a trap. So, what to do? #alanwatts #buddhism #desire #suffering Speaker: Alan Watts (1915 - 1...
Alan Watts - Becoming the Buddha
มุมมอง 1.6Kปีที่แล้ว
Alan Watts in this excerpt from his lecture on Buddhism explains that the teaching of Buddhism is a method and a dialogue as opposed to a doctrine. A Buddha is one who is awake. Following his enlightenment, he founded the middle...
Alan Watts - What do you really want?

Alan Watts in this excerpt explains that we do not really know what we want. We often think that we know exactly what we want but then when we get them, we soon realize they were really not what we wanted as we thought. He recommends being very specific with what we want. Above all, the question of what we really want pushes us further into the bigger existential question / problem: who am I? S...

my self has improved very little by my own doing. the 2nd step - came to believe that a power greater than myself could restore me to sanity - most of the work is done by a higher power.. all i do is do the simple actions that are stated in the rest of the steps.. and let me tell u, i never was sane from as far back as i can remember.. there was something missing and i didnt know what that something was until i found AA.. then i discovered what i choose to call god (not the written down god, too small) suddenly the barriers that i had set up from before i was born started to crumble and i was more free than i ever had been previously.. as long as i continue to work the steps and pull back the many layers of disfunction and what not i will continue to get better.. self improvement is not performed by the self except a little but i have to be willing to do the work..

They are going to listen to his profound talks just as those of us who enjoy him on TH-cam do. If you listen and think about it it's simple. On a "basic" sense you can improve "yourself" but once you go deeper there is no "self" to improve. We are all one, all part of something much bigger than ourselves. I used to think stuff like this was crazy but then I sat and thought about things after I had a NDE and realized that the fact that we are here at all is the crazy part. The fact that there is something rather than nothing is the crazy part. So what's so crazy about thinking that something aided in our journey to be where we are and who we are? I don't believe in the Christian God, too totalitarian for my liking, however there was something intelligent that allowed all of this stuff to happen. Be it nature, the universe, some God somewhere, a simulation, whatever. No matter what it is, this is all simply crazy and thinking and talking about stuff like this is very entertaining. Entertainment is what Alan said he enjoys, it's too bad he's no longer around to continue this :(

LOL 😅 It's hilarious cuz something that calls itself "goldismoney" & clearly worships that... would even listen to something like Alan Watts in the first place & then can't/won't understand the simple words/ideas a Real Man & then whine/complain about it after. OMG that's rich! 🤣

The student wants a teacher and the teacher is there to lecture them that there is nothing to be taught. He got paid to do something he enjoyed, talking. Like someone telling a story from a book about nothing and everything and you’re here on the tip of your toes listening.

Yes let's get rid of religion and also government., laws, taxes, individual rights, cars, trucks, airplanes, clothing, stores, houses, roads, buildings common sense and just live anyway we want. Does that make sense too. You wish against the God who created all things and for you not to recognize that is for you to be just plain ignorant thinking. You were made in the image of God with the ability to think and love and hate and to choose how you need to live on this earth. God granted you life so that you could worship and love God and accept his provision of salvation from your sins. You are responsible for your actions and thoughts. We din against the God who made us and He died so that you wouldn't have to but make no mistake, you can wishful think about things and reject Jesus and his message but you will not change what God has written in his word concerning you and the future that will come to pass. You need to repent which means you need to change your mind about sin, about God, about his word and about this present world. You only get one chance in life to make things right.
