    I use an mpc 1000 with JJOS 2xl most every day. I love it, but it feels like a different beast entirely from the new ones. My mpc feels more like an instrument, while the new ones come across like workstations.

      That same product line you talking about have almost 20 year gap.
      It is a workstation now. Mpc1k is only sampler/sequencer.
      You can achieve same results faster on new ones plus lot more.
      I would say to anyone who have no gear at all to get MPC one as starting point, there is much more bang for its price and whoever have already some gear to make music on and want something different to have different workflow (which I believe often leads to different results) to go for MPC 1k
      I have two MPC one but I’m recently looking to get mpc1k, I just love how it looks, especially that blue one;)

    You hit the nail on the nose! It’s modern, all the while still vintage. Workflow is fast once you’re use to it. Could never part with it. I juggle between that and my 2500 when i want more dedicated outs

    The 1000 was the first one i got. It's a work horse really, plus i like the sound more than the 1. It's ideal for making quick loops, made records with Dj Premier on it amongst many other cats, it's quick when it comes to chopping and building tracks. The only thing i didn't like was the fact that the pads died out in no time and the screen replacement was pretty expensive, but all in all? i think it's way nicer than the 1 cos of the sound and functionality. The one got tons of plugins and what not which is cool, but then again, to me it was an overkill. I instantly got a producer block on that joint lol. Great vid!

I'm usually like wth will I use today? Some are easier than others, but I really enjoy the challenge of limitations. Once I use easier stuff it's like 😎 ain't nothing lol. It's way counter productive though. I forget what I made it on and have no desire to continue the beat once I find it.

    Cool video but I gotta point out some things you got wrong (at least in my opinion). You weren’t sampling on the One the correct way, you’re supposed to be on Sampler mode and you can get to straight to editing. You can even set your chopping points right when you are sampling in real time. That’s why you had those extra steps because you were sampling it in audio clip mode. Also the 1000 only supports around 128gb of max storage while the One supports 2tb of max storage. Just a couple pointers, no hate or disrespect.

    • @ppic7162
      @ppic7162  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! Yeah, you're right on all of your points. That footage I shot was out of focus so I just kept the other one in. I'm too lazy to go back and re-record it and this video took a major toll on me. I didn't think it would be this difficult to edit all this stuff in. The video started out 55 minutes long, I cut out a lot of fluff and some important stuff just to get it down to a manageable time.
      This could have went either way. I'll record both ways just to change things up sometimes. I'm totally biased and I'll admit that. My opinion will probably change next month.

    2 things:
    1. When you gave the “edge” to the 1000 in the storage department… due to the ability to add an internal harddrive…. Essentially the SD card IS a harddrive… but not only is it basically a harddrive, it is flash memory, basically an SSD, and removable..so you could (like I do) make a beat on your MPC One, while away from studio, then take the card out and put it into your MPC X and continue creating… it is more versatile and as you stated, up to 2TB… the 1,000 I’m sure can only install disc hard drives and probably only up to 500gb tops… but most likely less than that.. MPC One should of win that round
    2. I didn’t keep track, but I believe mpc one won more rounds, so how does the win go to 1,000?
    I understand it’s your opinion and I respect it, but I could of swore more rounds went to ONE… 🤷🏾‍♂️ either way dope video, much respect ✊🏽

    • @ppic7162
      @ppic7162  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      You are right about the sd card being equivalent. But, I still would rather have an internal hard drive and cf card reader than an sd card reader alone. I just lost a 512gb sd card. And I washed a 256gb it in my pants pockets and lost all that data also.13:43 is the final tally. It was 4 to 3 MPC 1000.

      I intentionally left the sound out because of my DJing all those years, I have tinnitus. So I can't really hear a difference. I hear it on the MPC 60, and the 3000. Even the 2000xl, but I don't hear a real difference on these. I didn't think the phone microphone would pick it up either. But, If I had to say, I would say the 1000 sound better.(biased opinion of course.)

      For sound, MPC 1000 definitely is better on the warmth. MPC One sounds like you’re producing on a computer with a DAW. The MPC 1000 definitely makes the output that iconic MPC sound.

      For me the mpc 1000 is the worst mpc, even with the JJOSXL. The workflow is cool but the sound is weak. This is an mpc to break the habit. Comparing the lame crutch with the mpc one is a joke. The Mpc one iz a Beast

      @@hiphopchannel6257 How so? The MPC 1k and 25k both have the exact same sound modules. They’re literally the same unit with a different size and a 25k disc drive, which is why JJOSXL is built specifically for these two. It’s also about how you’re mixing on it.

    Idk man feel like the One got cheated lol. Sampling on the one is a lot easier though. You had it going good just fumbled on the q-link part trying to get the end loop lol. Also its easier to sample where you started originally...Not sure if you purposely left out the Daw software integration and what it brings as a controller. Then also the class complient plug and play stuff, audio interface. Auto-sampler. Then all kinds of software things...like yeah the 1000 can have instruments, but really limited to whats there. Storage space is like 10 fold. New age flex...you could use the One in the dark with the buttons....although the screen you got on the 1000 maybe.
    Im just being hyper critical...not even serious. It all depends on how you make your beats in the first place and what appeals to you. Some things are not on the radar and can easily get overlooked.

      Yeah, it is totally biased. It's how I feel right now. Next week it may change. I didn't have the camera in focus on that part for some reason. I'm too lazy to go back and record it the right way. So I just left it in.

      @@ppic7162 You a different MPC breed. Usually MPC heads will brawl in the comments to support their favorite lol. There is no right one though. People just gravitate to specific hardware for their own reasons. The one thing though is on the older MPC's you got receipts for the hits made in it. The newer ones there's only JD playing around with it, Scott Storch doing the usual demo showcase lol. I'm just waiting for the history to be made. Like 4 MPC's later we'll appreciate it all a lot more than now. Tough though with all these same things different form factors.

      @@THA-REAPER I'm easy. The MPC community can be toxic at times. Everyone is in their corners. Someone in the comments said it best for me, "The Older MPC are musical instruments and the newer ones are like D.A.W.s.

    There's always a lot of nostalgia bias with these legacy MPC reviews and this one is no different. There's a reason why 16 years of further development of the MPC platform happened, you know.

      I agree with you. But, there is also a charm with the older MPCs. And it is nostalgia bias, as with my MPC 2000xl review from a couple years ago, I shitted on the older MPCs. But, the more I used them, the more I understood what made them special in the first place. th-cam.com/video/7fXKwf7eSkg/w-d-xo.html

      It's not nostalgia bias though. I sold my old mpcs when I ordered the live, expecting the live to be good. The new mpcs are built cheap and sound weak af compared. Biggest mistake I made was to sell my old ones. That was a few years ago, I'm now looking to buy an old mpc or two to correct my mistake.
