To disassemble the other side, the daughterboard, be sure to remove the bottom white connector. Remove the speaker cable on the bottom of the daughter board. Remove the screw on top for the board. You should now be able to remove the daughterboard.
Which one? The left-most black ribbon cable is for the display (which means left hinge is very important for display! Right hinge has camera cable.). The long white one spanning across the HDD is to connect the daughter board to the main motherboard. The small light blue ribbon is for keyboard.
OK SO DONT USE THERMAL PASTE I tried to use Noctua NT-H1 paste and the cpu cooler is a thin sheet of copper and that's it! The space between the cpu and gpu is a lot so unless you're ready to use a lot of paste, it's not worth it. Keep the thermal pads! Which btw, were in top shape when I opened up this laptop after 8 years. Don't do it, my dudes.
@@lightly-red-huedmaleindivi6266 Sorry, but what exactly do you mean? You just put a small dab of paste on the surface of each chip and put the heatsink back on. You don't have to cover the whole copper plate in it! The paste is simply there to fill any microscopic imperfections that can trap air between the surface of the chip and the heatsink, which could lead to overheating. The physical distance between the chips is irrelevant.

I noticed the cpu uses thermal pads. Would it be possible to remove the pads and replace with thermal paste?
