When i was 7 (1989) we took a family trip from Bangor Maine to Disney World in Orlando Florida. My 2 brothers and I along with a couple of cousins sat in the back of a pickup truck the entire way (covered). 4 adults in the front (when trucks were trucks). My cousin Jason brought his boom box and an Appetite for Destruction Cassette. When we got on the road he asked me "Do you like Guns & Roses" my response was "I like Guns". Lol.. I had no idea what he was talking about. When he played this album I was in love with it. We played that one cassette for thousands of miles. He ended up giving it to me and so This Album was the first I ever owned.

The guitarist, Slash, beyond genius, he knew a kid that was half black, half jewish, didnt really fit the norm for things like bmx racing and hard rock, so he went from Saul Hudson to Slash, made a look and persona and made the whole scene fit him. He and Eddie Van Halen are the 2 greatest guitarist of my era and having eddie be half asian and Slash half black, a little extra awesome.

When GNR wrote 'Paradise city' around 1985/1986, they were 5 broke guys who spent their time between rehearsal spaces & drug dens of Hollywood, Cali and strippers' cribs they crashed in... Clubs in L.A. wouldn't book them cos they were so volatile. But they places they played? They were on fire 🔥🤘 Axl Rose (lead vocals) & Izzy Stradlin (guitar) both left Indiana to pursue their dreams of becoming rock stars in the L.A. scene in the early 80's. However, they were stuck in destitute Hollywood, while the millionaires and movie stars were just a drive away in Beverly Hills, enjoying their mansions & swimming pools. I think 'Paradise city' captures that dream they had of leaving their home towns and getting to live the high life. Ironically, when GNR became huge, they got paid million$ by 1989 and they had no idea what to do w/ their newfound fortune & fame... So they drank and did drugs (more often than they already did!)
Since you asked about where the video was filmed, thinking it looked like Miami, I'll tell you a little about the video locations. The color part of the video was filmed at the now-demolished Giants Stadium (not the current MetLife Stadium) at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 16, 1988, during their nationwide tour with Aerosmith (Deep Purple was also on the bill at the Meadowlands, but wasn't part of the tour). The black & white concert sequences were filmed in the UK, at the 1988 Monsters of Rock Festival at Donington Park in Castle Donington, Leicestershire, just a few days after the Meadowlands concert, on August 20, 1988, before a record crowd of 107,000. (Notice that you see the band boarding the Concorde halfway through the video for the trip to England, and then returning to the USA.) Sadly, although it's not mentioned in the video, that concert in the UK was marred by tragedy when two young concertgoers were crushed to death during Guns 'n Roses' set only 15 feet from the stage, which devastated the band once they heard what happened afterwards.

I seen them on this tour, when they were opening for Aerosmith. They were all so high and so were we. It was a great show and had a blast, but for some reason Ive never gone to see them since and that was in 1988.
This was filmed in NJ, Giants Stadium. ( they are playing stadiums again right now, tour just kicked off) we didnt have X... and acid was very non metal. Coke, pot and speed and booze were the drugs. The chorus was changed 'where the girls are green and the grass is pretty".

Got my guns and roses shirt 2020 before covid shutdown..had Axle..Slash..Duff together again...all though us and bit older and larger..it was still fire some 35 years later....and Welcome to Jungle was debut on MTV at like 3 o'clock in morning...and phone lines went crazy. Literaly broke phone lines..was a welcome refreshment from record getting group sound like Motley Crue and Van Halen...Just like when AC/DC came out to World..Just in your face To k n Roll....And Axle sub for lead singer Brian Johnson when had throat surgery...It was just awesome..Also can react to live performance of AC/DC at their one and only Grammy performance...Thanks guys for your reactions they are truly genuine...Love u guys

Since you asked about where the video was filmed, thinking it looked like Miami, I'll tell you a little about the video locations. The color part of the video was filmed at the now-demolished Giants Stadium (not the current MetLife Stadium) at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 16, 1988, during their nationwide tour with Aerosmith (Deep Purple was also on the bill at the Meadowlands, but wasn't part of the tour). The black & white concert sequences were filmed in the UK, at the 1988 Monsters of Rock Festival at Donington Park in Castle Donington, Leicestershire, just a few days after the Meadowlands concert, on August 20, 1988, before a record crowd of 107,000. (Notice that you see the band boarding the Concorde halfway through the video for the trip to England, and then returning to the USA.) Sadly, although it's not mentioned in the video, that concert in the UK was marred by tragedy when two young concertgoers were crushed to death during Guns 'n Roses' set only 15 feet from the stage, which devastated the band once they heard what happened afterwards.

I seen them on this tour, when they were opening for Aerosmith. They were all so high and so were we. It was a great show and had a blast, but for some reason Ive never gone to see them since and that was in 1988.
This was filmed in NJ, Giants Stadium. ( they are playing stadiums again right now, tour just kicked off) we didnt have X... and acid was very non metal. Coke, pot and speed and booze were the drugs. The chorus was changed 'where the girls are green and the grass is pretty".

Got my guns and roses shirt 2020 before covid shutdown..had Axle..Slash..Duff together again...all though us and bit older and larger..it was still fire some 35 years later....and Welcome to Jungle was debut on MTV at like 3 o'clock in morning...and phone lines went crazy. Literaly broke phone lines..was a welcome refreshment from record getting group sound like Motley Crue and Van Halen...Just like when AC/DC came out to World..Just in your face To k n Roll....And Axle sub for lead singer Brian Johnson when had throat surgery...It was just awesome..Also can react to live performance of AC/DC at their one and only Grammy performance...Thanks guys for your reactions they are truly genuine...Love u guys
