The similarity is because they're both speak French as their mother tongue language, the vowels in french make the most pleasant sounds to the ears.. I bet if you listen to another French speaking singer you'll find the same similarity.
hmmmm there is a tone and "size" of voice that make them sound more similar. I know A LOT of French speaking singers and these 2 are more similar than most LoL they are both powerful singer, Lara timbre is darker and they are so different to my ear but I can see why people hear similarities. When Mariah C 1st started singing everyone said she sounded like Whitney!... I am just happy to have had ALL of their music as the sound track to my life LoL
