Very good Jen. Love your smile on this one. Well , what am I saying you always have a great smile 😃 Her fans new that Lara was in a emotional state at the time and was very depressed. So they started the song for and sang all the way tru. They just change the lyric of ‘ Je t’aime’ to
‘ on t’aime ‘, which means...’we’ love you, instead of ‘ i ‘ love you.
She was going through a divorce because her husband cheated on her.
Je t'aime means "i love you
First time the fans have done this was in Nimes. Maybe they saved her life because in 2001 she have had a hard time. Lara was also thinking of doing suicide.
It's just my opinion but I think the difference between Celine and Lara is that Celine Dion sings "commercially safe" songs while Lara Fabian performs stories artistically. I find Lara's voice warmer and much less nasal than and far less forced than Celine's..

Je t´aime means " I love you". The crowd sings "Om t ´aime"- "We love you" - so Lara sings I love you and the crowd responds We love you... some fans arranged it and talked to the musical director (on the piano) before the show
Amazing when crowd sings We love you in French and she responds I love you (Je t'aime) in the context of the song.
The crowd is say "We love you" when Lara says "I love you". They actually scream in the beginning saying "Lara wait, we have you. We love you." They then begin to sing.
Incredible moment ! can not imagine what she felt
During an interview on a French radio station in 2019, Lara said that this moment was one of the three best moments of her career.

Hi Jen! That’s a really good point about Celine Dion. I admit she had great vocals, but Lara has the whole package and is humble like no other. That’s why she had my ❤️❤️!
Exactly, it's all the little tins that make the big difference for me, in terms of Lara and pretty much all the other artists / musicians / singers.
She is humble and grateful when she finishes her song, she immediately gives her musicians a thank you, her pianist, the one she has sung duet with always gets a hug and she seems genuinely happy that the audience claps and acknowledges her preformance. And the way her concerts are produced, when we see them, she is very careful to show all the musicians who are on stage, including her backing singers. She's not afraid to look ugly if the song demands it. She is completely free and herself.

You are so right, i'm french Canadian like Celine and Lara(Belgium,Canadian) and i really prefer Lara. She has all, the voice, the emotion, the passion, the look, the kindness etc...Celine have .......a voice and a good song writter, and a good manager.
It's the greatest respect and recognition to an artist when the audience, the fans, sing YOUR song at a concert. More is not possible !

This was in Canada. She is a Canadian/Belgian . She can sing in 12 languages and talks fluently in 4. Very well known in the entire world but here in the U.S. This is what we Americans have been missing out on.

You're 100% when you say Lara is a good person: she's very down to earth and never acts like a diva.
Just to give you the background and why she is so grateful with her audience: she had hard times in those days.
Indeed, in France, she was criticized a lot and the journalists liked to compare her to a cheap version of Celine Dion.
She was loved from some and hated from the others for the same thing, that is, just be herself.
She almost committed suicide.
That's why, hearing her fans singing "we love you" makes her cry.

I had read an article about her, apparently Celine Dions management team was working to defame Lara. thus, the articles of Lara being a cheap version of Celine. Their fame and popularity did start around the same time. Lara was living in Canada then.

The best gift given to an artist EVER. Added to that, it was an exchange of gifts because whenever the crowd sings "We love you", she responds with "I love you". Most important here is to familiarize oneself with the background story of Lara that culminated to this event. All of this pointing to who Lara Fabian really is.
LARA FABIAN, for the most part is the best female vocal performing artist who also over as many years composed as many songs and albums (at least 14 albums). This puts her virtually in a league of her own.
Honestly, Jen, Lara Fabian is my QUEEN who between both genders arouses emotions like no other artist.

Lara is Canadian, and is so far ahead of Dion, Dion freaked and demanded no one in Canada and the US book Lara. Dion is as Nuts as humanly possible and a pale copy of Lara.

In the beginning they say : "Chante pas, Lara!", meaning "Don't sing, Lara!", and she says that they caught her by surprise! The audience used to sing the chorus with her. A fan arranged this with her pianist and she asked her fellow Fabians (Lara's fans) to sing this song at this concert, to surprise Lara. She was a bit depressed at this time because of her record label had done to her and his bf had cheated on her. She got so moved because of this that she recovered her joy in life! 😊
This is a happy song, where she celebrates their love.

Lara IS the queen of chanson (continental French, Belgian, and Québecois singing style) and YES more so than Celine. I've been a fan for over 20 years, have seen her live four times (all in Montréal, where she lives.) Doesn't get any better than this.

The words would have killed you Jen. The crowd was singing "On T’aime"="We love you" over, instead of, the actual words "Je T'aime"="I love you", and singing it TO Lara. She was attempting to counter sing "I love you" back to her adoring audience. In the world of Lara, this version has a special place in our hearts as we all feel this way about her. It is a very beautiful song. You might want to consider doing a different version of the song (with subs) and\or this same version again (with subs). Links below for both.

I love your reactions, Jen. They are just always so real. The way you describe the difference between Celine Dion and Lara is just perfect. There's no doubt Celine has the voice, and she connects with the song, but it is rare that I feel she connects with people. Lara is just so genuine and even though there's no doubt she connects with the song, it's just the way she connects with the audience that sets her apart for me. Shame on Sony Music for putting all their A & R behind Celine in the US, robbing us from experiencing the amazing talent that is Lara Fabian, and keeping Lara from being successful here.

Hi Jen, great reaction again! I like to compare her to Floor, because I believe Lara is an empath herself, which is why she immerses into the songs and then conveys the emotions so strongly through her singing and her overall performance. Plus she is also very versatile making me once again recommend "Requiem pour un fou" to you, the duet with Johnny Hallyday. A totally different style yet powerful and emotional giving me the chills every time I hear it.

When Celine sings, she sings for the entire audience. When Lara sings, even though there is a large audience, it feels like she is singing, to me. The same goes when I watch her live videos, she only sings for me and I love it.

I was heard this was managed by the pianist and the crowd, that's beautiful. When she sings "je t'aime" which means I love you, the crowd sings "on t'aime" which means We love you, that's very emotional for her.

I was heard too Céline Dion never wanted Lara in America... I don't know if it's true, but if it is, I don't care because I hate her anyway.. I don't like that king of music, I love Lara because of the emotions she drives, her cover of "Je suis malade" is so amazing and incredible that she became someone to me, I love the person, the way she sings and plays... To me, in that kind of song (I 'm more Rocky of 70's, you know), she' s the best. Each time I listen to "Je suis malade", I cry, because I know what she's talking about, a toxic relationship. Hello Jen. I never understood what is she doing in Canada. So far from her parents and her birthplaces in Belgium and Sicily and with a Sicilian husband. Canada, a place so close to her USA tragedy, her suicidal thoughts, her mistreating by Celine's managers and Sony music who blocked her career instead of promoting her as agreed. If I was Lara I suppose I would live in France. Just because of the incredible love I received in this concert

Hi Jen! Nice to have you back with some Lara reaction and thank you for that. If you really want to hear that song by Lara, Michael posted the link below, thanks Michael! Because as you noticed it was mainly audience singing, which was cool though. I have not heard that kind of singing by audience for any artist before. That proves everything about Lara. (Well maybe Queen concert but that's an other story) That song is the "game opener" for Lara's career and means a lot of us fans and herself. But you really have to look that awards show version. It shows really Lara somewhat pissed of the whole incident. Look at her eyes in the beginning and you see how she thinks, "i'm gonna show you, you bunch of idiots", hah.😆 And she really did. Lara speaks seven languages fluently. her Italian when she sings" Caruso"it's like she's from Italy. outstanding for a French Canadian
She actually speaks four without thought: Italian, French, Spanish, English and has sung in 12. Lara is Belgium by birth, her mother is Italian, and Canadian (Quebecoise) by choice. She arrived in Montreal as she approached her 20th year and was adopted by the people of Quebec. She spent 8, 9 years doing bars, local TV and small concerts before becoming a so-called overnight success. She lives in Montreal (Westmount) and in what is called the Eastern Townships of Quebec with her husband and teenage daughter. She heads a competition and variety musical program called Star Academie ( a bit like the Voice) and we see her on TV weekly during the season.
