Beautiful job? I put the signature series oil in my 2010 Toyota Tundra. And love it. Now I need to do the differential and transmission. Glad to have you as my dealer Eben. You do a great service showing everyone how easy it is.
Thank you for the CVT video. I am an Amsoil dealer who has an 2022 QX50. I am in the process of putting the CVT fluid in the transmission as well as oil in the engine.
I've known of amsoil for years, never ran it, finally a friend talked me into in, so i tested amsoil in my 11 suburban 5.3 with 180k mi. Intake/exhaust, tuned, loft and oversize tires. I did an oil change only. And she felt lighter, less stressed/draggy and well more responsive. Let's just say I haven't gone back to any other brand for my 4 vehicles on any fluids.
I take the drain plug out and the plastic insert that's threaded into the pan out. I usually get two quarts out and I put two quarts in. The threaded plastic piece threads right back in no problems, just don't over tighten it. I use the Valvoline multivehicle CVT fluid. I change mine every 30-40 thousand miles but i drive 60-65 mph and i never over accelerate. I drive like an old man...lol
5 Drain and Fill, that's heaps. Guess it's safter then drain, fill and Flush out the Torque Converter in one go. Over here Ford dealer-sheep told me that my 6 Speed ZF Auto transmission doesn't need changing till 150,000Kilometers. That's horse s^&t. Took it to garage at 60,000KM and the ATF came out Thick and Burned Black. Garage mechanic said ATF and filter should be changed every 2 years Max ( 40,000-50,000KM ). The issue with my ATF is alot of brands are not compatible with ZF 6 Speed only Certain Castrol AFT is. Not Castrol TX95 it's a newer version. Good job on changing CVT on toyota.
Never had a CVT transmission, not a fan of them. I do however have a sealed transmission on a Fiat 500. Are sealed transmissions actually serviceable? The Fiat I have has almost 140k on her but she is still going strong.
You forgot to remove the plastic piece up above the bottom drain plug. This would have allowed you to drain out much more fluid all at once. The Toyotas aren't like a Honda. Regardless, we love the videos and keep em coming. It's Amsoil 100% synthetic for the win!!
Yeah the only thing is and once you break that loose you can't put it back on without taking the hand down but you're right if you were going to take the pen down you could get more fluid out. Anyway you look at it it really is kind of like bottle feeding a baby goat LOL😄😄
@@Syntheticoilprotection They're pretty easy to remove through the drain hole, Eben. Then they just thread back in. The big thing is they're only plastic so ya don't wanna overtighten it. Just snug is enough.
@@Syntheticoilprotection I changed the CVT oil on my brother's scion today the 6mm allen you used for the drain plug is also what you use for the fill level tube you take out of the drain hole. I got about 4 quarts out once I took that fill level tube out. I also got more oil out by blasting some compressed air in the fill port.
Can we use these CVT fluids in Scooters? Two wheeler that have CVT transmission? Say Honda Activa , Dio, Grazia or TVS Wego, Jupiter , Zest or Suzuki Burgaman, Access, or Yamaha Fascino, Rayz ?

Eben, the videos you do are very helpful. Thanks for the content!!! I took my Toyota Highlander into my dealer with 30k on the clock. I said I wanted the tranny flushed and they refused to do it. They said what this guy said. I took it to another Toyota dealership and I basically forced them to do it. I am going to buy amsoil cvt this time.

Dude this is the best in Personal opinion. I replace mine every 30k miles. Cvt are super picky transmissions. 🤗 Nice nail my dude 😆 🤣! Your awesome Eben!
The magnets are inside the pan. Why didnt engineers put the drain plug at the lowest deepest end point. And why didnt they put a distick for their cvt? Nissians we use 5.5 quarts when we take the pan off to clean the magnets. I was scared to use another brand for the ns-2 fluid other than nissians haha. I thought the darker it is, the more metal friction is floating around. Id say remove the pan and get rid of all the fluid at once.
@@Syntheticoilprotection I think I did it within the first couple thousand miles. It made a HUGE difference!!! I drive pizza delivery on the side, so I want nothing but the best!

Cvts do shift there's bands in between them and they're like sprockets they open and close and when you floor it if it's in a taller gear it's going to immediately skip to a much lower gear ratio fast and it's shifting to a lower gear by moving the sprockets the difference between the film strength allows it to shift faster down and it also moves faster in the sprockets move with less friction and they has better driveability and it also steers better with the Amsoil CVT fluid. You'll see here some of the differences between the fluids. ♥️ See Fluid Performance Tests - www.amsoil.com/performancetests.aspx?zo=5331179 Have you ever tried Amsoil sim?

Every 30,000 miles or sooner if it needs it then. Don't wait too long if it is not running well or you might get into having to replace it and that will not be cheap.
I know that can be done without taking a wheel off but the first time I saw a video of someone who apparently had to take one off to get to his oil filtering had me thinking. I was thinking, how absurd to have to do so much unrelated work to to routine maintenance on a car! I had Volkswagens and I never had to take a wheel off to do any of the oil or transmission fluid. That to me would make me rethink whether I really want to keep the car! I am also someone who rented a 2001 Corolla once while my car was in the shop and they have basically no top end so that is more of a deal breaker yet. If Toyotas weren't reliable there would be no reason to buy them considering those massive negatives! I think reliability is what kept Toyota around because can you imagine having to put up with all of that and have an unreliable car? No sane person would be willing to put up with that!!
From what I've seen from mechanic channels, these CVT transmissions get dirty quickly by nature!! 30k-50k change intervals are ideal because they get dirty quicker than traditional automatic transmissions.
I'm very glad I got my fluid Switched out with some amsoil cvt and sognature series 0w20 before I left for California, We averaged about 17hours of driving with only ~10 minute stops for the car to cool down before napping 1-2 hours and finishing the last 17 hrs of driving, most of it running 3000-4000 rpm. We did this torture test to my car on the way to LA and back to Wisconsin. I'll be filming that soon Eben, it's been a quite an exhausting drive

@514aam I have heavily considered it, but it's essentially a 1 off transmission from Toyota with almost no parts compatability so I'm really pushing it when it comes to a mod like that. No shops around me will do it
My son has a 2021 Hoda Civic Sport with the cvt he complained at 10k that the trans was jerky. We changed out the fluid did it 2 times fluid was black amd smelly at 14k. Now smooth as butter we will change every 15k to keep it clean.
Hello! I have a question for you! So I am planning to change my transmission fluid on the 2019 Honda Accord 1.5 L for the amsoil CVT shortly. My concern is whether I can use my racing ramps 67 XT. I noticed you lifted your car down to drain out excess fluids. If I drove down the ramps with low transmission fluid to dump out the rest, would it be detrimental to my transmission?
15/16 socket?!? On a Japanese car? Using Imperial substitutes may work, but using the correct tool (24 mm, in this case) is safer for the car and the user.

@@Syntheticoilprotection This is true, to an extent. Most notable are spark plugs which traditionally have (and still are) Imperial, but very recently are being quoted in metric which honestly threw me for a loop. Some things remain Imperial like tyre sizes and anything else is just the manufacturer being difficult (I'm talking to you, BMW 635 CSi). This video is much-needed and I hope everybody with a CVT transmission watches it and changes their fluid often with quality fluids and not those works-for-everything liquids (CVT and conventional transmissions have different needs so I cannot fathom how one fluid can work for all). It would have been good information to the viewer if you stated that the bolt is 24mm but a 15/16 socket will work. Doing that would be showing the man how to fish by giving him the pole and also giving him a choice of hooks. Anyway, good video, keep up the good work.
@Synthetic Oil Protection Eben - could you do a cold pour test between OEM Nissan CVT Fluid & Amsoil CVT Fluid but do it at around -30 / -22c , which is a temperature that most people might see , just to show how much better the Amsoil is , then crank it up to -40, -50 by the end of the video.
Unfortunately I don't have the equipment to do it the cryogenic Visa I have is special it only goes to -50 so there's no real way to get a good in the middle test but I can assure you they're not even close one would be Rock Solid the other one would flow right out you should be able to see the CVT cold flow test on the channel just type in Amsoil CVT cold flow test and you should be able to see the video👍

Because you want to make sure you get all the old fluid out you would have to do a true flush by draining and filling it at the same time and letting the transmission pump pump out the old fluid it takes about 2 to 3 people to do it correctly so what I do is I just do a pan drop on my personal car I change the filter clean the magnets clean the pan do a fresh gasket fresh filter and shaboo
I bet there's a company making a magnetic drain plug for this car. I'd find one and install it. I bet dorman even has one from another car that would work.
Most of them are a basic drain and fill so all you do is clean the magnet and then refill it some may have a filter just depends on the vehicle and also a lot of the new cars that are fuel efficient and economic cars a lot of them no longer have a filter you change they are just a drain and filth you'll see the playlist on the Channel with a lot of different ATF and transmission fluid changes and you'll see a good portion are just draining the fluid and replace it if you ever want to try the products this will give you the best value as the 6-month PC member👍 ✅ Save 25% On Your Next Fluid Order: www.amsoil.com/offers/pc/?zo=5331179
Anyone doing this drain and fill should get properly clued up before attempting it. Removing the plastic straw, for example, is a no-brainer. How about checking the fluid level afterwards? But hey, how does that Amsoil fluid meet both TC and FE specifications, which are two different viscosities?
I have a cvt in a 2k19 Ford Fusion and it was never changed when I bought it at 60k miles. Shifted hard, shuttered, kicks you forward. Only thing I can see at this point is to have the entire transmission rebuilt or replaced and it’s nightmare to live w. Please people, don’t buy a cvt if you value your cars.
That's very unfortunate in the Fords have a rough transmission track record even a lot of the other transmissions so it's not just your car and it's not just the CVT unfortunately and it could be a manufactured defect that's been known to happen also on some Nissan's and a couple other makes and models very unfortunate if you can somehow get it replaced with the warranty that would be great if not I recommend getting rid of the car definitely not a good idea to get a car that is known to have a lot of problems I hope you figure out what the problem is and in the future I highly recommend the Amsoil fluids for your vehicle you will see a huge Improvement and when you use my link I will always be able to answer your questions in the future as your independent Amsoil Dealer thank you for sharing with everybody👍 ♥️ Find The Right Fluids For Your Vehicles - www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/?zo=5331179 ✅ Save 25% On Your Next Fluid Order: www.amsoil.com/offers/pc/?zo=5331179

When the D is fully on the dashboard pull drain plug untill fluid basically stops coming out(Dribbling). If D is missing on dashboard the transmition is too cold to do the check, when D stays on it's fluid check time and when D flashes its too hot to do the check. I bought severe gear 80-90 for my 91 Mazda b2200 in the diff and manual transmission. Was great in the diff but the transmission was not shifting great afterwards, very notchy. I'm guessing it was because it was gl5, anyway went back on amsoil and ordered the 75-90 gl-4. I guess it's true gl5 additive package somehow doesn't get along with synchronizers and is mainly for differentials. Should have went with the gl4 to begin with shifts perfect now 👍. Kind of bummed out the last 2 orders I got from Amsoil they didn't give me no stickers either. LOL
Interesting I never heard that before but now I know if you use the wrong gl5 in the gl4 it won't shift good good to know sometimes they forget the stickers you can always order stickers on the website they have big stickers I think up to 48 in

Interesting on the other pans it is like clipped in there with the plastic clip and once you dismantle it you would have to take the pan down to put it back up that's what I figured it was the old type but if you have a video on this I would love to see how you use the Allen key
@Synthetic Oil Protection it's usually a plastic tube piece, as the other viewer mentioned. You take the Allen key, and go straight up into the hole with it, and unscrew the 2nd piece. There are several videos available online that show this process.
OEM oil sucks. If you buy any car, new or not immediately change the oil . You will be saving yourself big money down the road. Use Amsoil. It's good insurance
Hey Eben! I was wondering, if you think i should flush my transmission and engine and replace it with amzoil signature series. I am told that flushing can actually damage newer vehicles, however properly transitioning to amsoil ( or any other oil) necessitates a flush because you don't want detergents from competeting brands to counteract and cause more complications. Why are yall killing y’all’s self just do a full flush to remove all the old from the pan and torque converter piece of cake. That’s what I do to all my vehicles I never leave old fluid in the transmission.
On some Transmissions if you use the machine you can damage the transmission depending on the component I have a personal friend that's a transmission expert and he does not recommend using a machine to do the flush
Don’t use a machine do it from the radiator cooler lines, that to me it’s better than using a machine. Just did a full flush on a 2019 Nissan Sentra that car doesn’t have cooling lines going to the radiator but you can still do it, I did runs really good. It’s has 45 xxx miles on it. Never had a problem doing it like that. But I do like using the amsoil cvt transmission oil.
@93gmctruck18 that's great the only thing you got to be super careful some of those coolers and radiators have plastic parts and they can be easily broken that's why I recommend only an expert to get into those economy cars and putting pressure on those radiators can definitely be dangerous and they can be easily cracked and then you have to replace the whole radiator that's why I personally wouldn't touch an older vehicle that has that type of plastic setup unless you're going to be replacing it regardless
Your transmission can shift better than brand new by just changing half of the ATF to AMSOIL Signature Series- th-cam.com/video/lOQJF_T4eCc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=s2ZofHkCO1GkFGf-
Depending on the component you can only change what's in the pan some Transmissions hold about half in the torque converter and half in the pan just depends on the vehicle

Did you know a oil manufacturer can call a lubricant a Full Synthetic when it's only 25% synthetic? AMSOIL is different because it is 100% Synthetic and has a higher film strength keeping the metal parts separated. AMSOIL allows less friction, less heat, less wear on the component. AMSOIL Signature Series motor oil will last 25,000 miles on 1 oil change!

Beautiful job? I put the signature series oil in my 2010 Toyota Tundra. And love it. Now I need to do the differential and transmission. Glad to have you as my dealer Eben. You do a great service showing everyone how easy it is.
I always like the same it's easy when you have all the right tools LOL
You won't regret the transmission fluid!
That's awesome how long ago did you switch over to amsoil?
Yes you can change the fluid on a sealed transmission.
th-cam.com/video/nENimHN6swI/w-d-xo.html
You forgot to remove the plastic piece up above the bottom drain plug. This would have allowed you to drain out much more fluid all at once. The Toyotas aren't like a Honda. Regardless, we love the videos and keep em coming. It's Amsoil 100% synthetic for the win!!
🤣🤣🤣
He meant thats how to ruin the transmission?! 🤣🤣🤣
I would check the look up.

Nice job on this one. So if my math is accurate this replaced approximately 1/3 of the fluid?
Yeah I would say closer to half of the fluid just really difficult with this type of transmission
Using the OE oil for the first time seems to get to oil pressure faster than the pinzoil I was using. 2022 impreza.

If you take out the whole Pan it's about 5 quarts of fluid that comes out. And you can change the filter also and the gasket. But it's a lot of work.
Dude this is the best in Personal opinion. I replace mine every 30k miles. Cvt are super picky transmissions. 🤗 Nice nail my dude 😆 🤣! Your awesome Eben!
😊😉👍
The magnets are inside the pan. Why didnt engineers put the drain plug at the lowest deepest end point. And why didnt they put a distick for their cvt? Nissians we use 5.5 quarts when we take the pan off to clean the magnets. I was scared to use another brand for the ns-2 fluid other than nissians haha. I thought the darker it is, the more metal friction is floating around. Id say remove the pan and get rid of all the fluid at once.

The cvt fluid changes color no matter what. But it is true that you should change it. Also CVTS don't shift.

😉
From what I've seen from mechanic channels, these CVT transmissions get dirty quickly by nature!! 30k-50k change intervals are ideal because they get dirty quicker than traditional automatic transmissions.
Yeah even sooner is better

That's a great question and I honestly don't know.
Jack up the rear to make it level. You'll drain about 4 qrts with that transmission. It's like 3.9. It's super easy on those accords and civics.

Eben - could you do a cold pour test between OEM Nissan CVT Fluid & Amsoil CVT Fluid
but do it at around -30 / -22c , which is a temperature that most people might see , just to show
how much better the Amsoil is , then crank it up to -40, -50 by the end of the video.

What abt filters change in CVT transmission ?
Most of them are a basic drain and fill so all you do is clean the magnet and then refill it some may have a filter just depends on the vehicle and also a lot of the new cars that are fuel efficient and economic cars a lot of them no longer have a filter you change they are just a drain and filth you'll see the playlist on the Channel with a lot of different ATF and transmission fluid changes and you'll see a good portion are just draining the fluid and replace it if you ever want to try the products this will give you the best value as the 6-month PC member👍

There's a little tube inside the drain hole that you can remove to get more fluid out. It uses an Allen key.
There are several videos available online that show this process.

hell, my 16 sentra was acting up on its second change, threw in a stop slip on 2k ish oil change and fix it. crazy how soon the "new" oil lost its color.
My sentra 2014 is jerking after just a few months of changing the trans oil and I lose hope of reviving it, I hope changing another trans oil will fix it, thinking of using Amsoil now.
@rayjayb6986 it's definitely a last resort before it's wrecked hopefully you can save it👍

Yeah on the Nissan's I would change the CVT fluid every 10,000 miles with OEM fluid or if I has the Amsoil CVT fluid I would change it every $25,000 MI definitely a very tedious car to take care of however if you stay on top of it it will last probably two to three times longer then running the OEM fluids😃
Hey new follower
👍
I used amsoil cvt in my 2007 civic hybrid and it made it shudder bad on the take off clutch. Replaced back to honda cvt and the problem went away. I wouldnt recommend this at all.
It may have not been the right fluid for that specific transmission I would check the lookup guide and make sure you have the right fluid for your vehicle it should shift better than brand new with the Amsoil.

Also if you take it to someone to have the fluid put in you have to make sure you watch it go in
Gotta love amsoil

Some of the American Standard crosses over to metric. Meaning they almost the same size.

Only use oem cvt fluid. Especially with jatco cvt. Dealers typically do a complete flush. Not a drain and refill. You will void warranty with amsoil cvt fluid.
With Amsoil CVT fluid as long as it meets the specification you are warranty secured you will not void your warranty you can change it on a brand new vehicle.

@tigertom53 sweet!
Have you changed any fluids yet? To amsoil?
@@Syntheticoilprotection replaced it with Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid
Magnets are in the pan.
Have you ever dropped the pan on this vehicle?
@@Syntheticoilprotection Not this specific model.
Did it on my Ractis.
It also uses the FE fluid.
You get more fluid out by dropping the pan and removing the filter.

Like i Really can't believe Toyota put the drain plug in THAT spot!!! Like really man like wtf put the dam drain plug on the BOTTOM so you don't have to go through all this CRAP trying to get all the fluid out. Talk about screwing your own customers
Yeah it doesn't make sense really really strange what Toyota is done lately this video is hard to believe - th-cam.com/video/RTtWLPYxixU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qDMuYirtWt7RF6Kx
CVT's don't shift.
I know it seems like that but they do the police inside shift smaller and wider and it moves the band up and down and depending on the RPM and torque load if you floor it it'll shift to a lower gear to have a higher torque multiplication and that transfer is a lot smoother with the film strength of the Amsoil it's a significant difference with heat and also a few mileage friction and will extend the life of the component exponentially.

Dealers 60k mile or lifetime transmission is a huge scam never trust them that's just a way for them to make more money when u have engine and transmission issues never changing atf equals internal transmission excessive wear
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting great information super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.

@@Syntheticoilprotection Using a belt in a transmission!
1.3 quartz you removed almost nothing probably should have removed the pan
You can if you want to however most likely that would only remove another half a quart LOL it's pretty maddening it's a very odd setup but what can you do you have to work with what you have and what you have is a basic economy car you can get rid of it and get a new car payment or you can take care of it for me I love helping people getting their reaction and seeing their vehicle run better than brand new that's why I do my TH-cam channel😃👍
Hastings/Baldwin filter # TF165. If your not changing the filter with the fluid your wasting your time and money!

Yes, this will give you everything for your vehicle.

Stupid mixing dirty and new oil just change it all new because cvt oil is expensive
Depending on the component you can only change what's in the pan some Transmissions hold about half in the torque converter and half in the pan just depends on the vehicle
