  • Driving the 911 Turbo S is a privilege, the history goes back to 1974 when the 930 was introduced in Paris Motor Show. The 2 keywords in this test are "Comfort racer" or perhaps "drive- and usability in this test. Thanks, Porsche for still making this supercar...

    Great video! I bought a 991.2 Turbo (non S, "just" a turbo) .....
    Its an absolute monster, ive had it for 7 months, 1 month ago I had a stage 1 tune completed, it has 660bhp & 840nm.
    It is absolutely insane.
    Low 10's down the quarter and does it all with no fuss, same every time.
    Porsche is king.

    Just fantastic Janko, you have many fans and you totally deserve them! You seem to have a skill of identifying the issues that all true Porsche enthusiasts spend many hours of their time thinking about. I found this video particularly relevant, as I was in my local Porsche dealership recently with my 991 50th Anniversary and was drawn to a gorgeous 991 Turbo S sitting in the showroom....... until this moment I was sure that GT3 was going to be my next 911, but now I'm not so sure!! Would love to see a video on your thoughts about getting the best interaction out of a PDK 991, as I always enjoy the manual gearbox experience behind the wheel of my classic 3.2 Carrera, which is lacking when I get back into the 991. Keep up the fabulous work my friend!!

      Wauhhh thanks for the energy. 991 50th anniversary, could be a car to keep?
      Thanks for a video suggestion. I like the PDK and getting the best interaction out of it is definitely something to consider as a topic. Thanks for the time you spend on my channel.

      Hi Janko, now that I have my Carrera club Sport/ T , I would like your thoughts on winter tires. Yes, I’m going to be driving in the winter up here in Lapland.
      My question, to dubb or not to dubb. This is my first Porsche, so it would be great to have some input from people who know better.

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Huw, sorry for a late reply and that you are enjoying your Carrera T. Winter tires is tuff and difficult to answer. We all know that there are "N" marked winter tiers recommended by Porsche, but you live in Lapland! I have had good experience with X-ice from Michelin BUT then you are not able to push your Carrera T. Sorry if I'm not able to give you a clear answer, I might consider a video of winter tire later in the season but that would not help you right now I guess. Keep on driving!

    I"m a Porsche newbie with my 718, but I am learning a lot about Porsche history by watching your videos. I've been bitten by the Porsche bug and now I want to drive a 911 to see how it compares to the mid engine design. All three 911s at the end are great at what they were designed for.

      I have the 718 Cayman GTS....it's a great car and quick enough. I was thinking if I sign up for the Porsche track school in Alabama, I would have an opportunity to drive the 911. I've been to the Porsche Experience Center in ATL and that was a lot of fun.

      @drewmorg. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JankoLind The only Porsche I have driven to compare it to is our 2006 Boxster S. In this Gen I think the S gives a significant boost to your power output (which is already relatively low to today's standards) plus the small touches like white gauges and bigger brakes and painted calipers. I think especially with the newer 911 since they are all turbo charged you are getting quite a high minimum performance already in the base!!

  • @stephenlane2826
    @stephenlane2826 ปีที่แล้ว

    Widowmaker yes because it had one larger turbo in it that gave it a huge amount of turbo lag which people weren't used to. Made it quite dangerous. Over time porsche found ways to lessen that turbo Lag which worked out well.

  • @yetidh9
    @yetidh9 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    911 Turbo was the king until Nissan rewrote the rule book with the GTR in 2007. The 991 definitely put Porsche back ahead, but the price increased by almost 50% over the previous generation. I'm sure the 992 will be amazing.

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, yetidh9, I have never driven the GTR and for that reason, I need to trust your words. I would never the less choose a Nissan over a Porsche, it's a culture thing I guess. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

      I have a 2018 GTS 991.2. Awesome track car and okay daily driver. Looking at selling it and buying a 2015 911 Turbo S. Looking more for a comfortable fast daily driver. Easier for us to rent a Porsche (Cayman S) at our track rather than beat the heck out of the GTS. When we were tracking the GTS hard it cost us $6,000 Can. every 6 track days . Tires, pads and rotors plus installation ( no I’m too old to wrench anymore) . That’s not including track time and fuel .only maintenance. Hum....now I know why there are so many names on the sides of the cars 😳
