    The Skid Factory is my all time favorite build video series, no one else comes close, the variety of cars, the in-depth tech info explaining everything, zero bullshit shenanigans like many others, the chemistry between Al & Woody I absolutely love it. Honestly don’t know how you guys can keep this up it’s gonna be so hard lol.

    Bob Dylan once said the worst part of listening to Gordon Lightfoot sing a song is when the song ends. These videos never seem to last long enough, I really enjoy watching the skid factory, but can't believe they are over so soon. I guess that's relative, some (not all) of the Finnegan's Garage episodes are half the time and seem to drag on and on.

    • @Oblithian
      @Oblithian 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well yeah, the best experts are the most specialized people ...which I suppose is basically just the definition of an expert at that point. Probably, more accurate to say, the best work is done by those who get help (from people who know what they're doing) when they need it.
      But regardless, I agree with both of you.

    This is the best build I've seen - only thing which would make it better is if it was a Bedford CF ice cream van, the classic Morrison body with lighting up cones on the corners! Also, love Al's little throwaway daft shit, the only way you can tell he's saying something stupid is a little twinkle in his eye - brilliant! Oh, and I used to have an A-Team van - 6.6L V8 and struggled to get to 65 mph on 7mpg! It was shit except I had a cassette with the theme tune on both sides cut to length so when it finished the tape player would reverse and play it again.........good times! Can't wait for the next episode

    Might i suggest a sleeper style set up for the turbo and exhaust? longer header primaries and the turbo mounts somewhere beside the oil pain on the right side with the exhaust outlet facing the oil pan. that should help with reducing the restrictions from to many bends. Not sure if your available spacing would allow that. I have also seen set ups with the turbos near the rear of the car, everyone expected turbo lag from it but it didnt show any signs of lag. Cant wait to see what you guys end up doing.

Oh well, it's good entertainment regardless. Maybe he'll then spend another $20,000 on panel and paintwork - guess the lawn business pays OK.

    Looks like putting the engine forward on the crossmember would've solved heaps of problems. But maybe there's something in the way I'm not seeing in the video.

    Love this build!
    Why not do something against the rust on the vehicle?

    If pan clearance is such a big problem, have you looked at taller tires or a little suspension lift. The engine/trans combo is low enough that handling/CG shouldn't be a problem. Just a thought...

    I get so depressed every time these videos finish purely on the fact I wait for them every Wednesday!

    I would change only one thing about the procedure of nesting the engine in its cocoon. And i know it would be more work, but frankly it would also mean less head aches.
    I'd cut the whole floor forward of the shifter, up to the rise in the foot well(s). It's rusty, cruddy, ugly anyways. To make it clear, just the floor, not the struts or structural elements.
    That being said, i'm curious as to how you'll figure the shroud.
