- We grew two Roma plants in containers this year, planting both at the same time. Romas are a determinate variety, meaning they grow to maturity, set fruit, and then stop growing. We tried two different methods of growing them, and the results are clear to us which one is the winner after a few months of growth. Hopefully you'll be able to learn something from our experiment and grow a great crop of Roma tomatoes in your garden.
Hey, guys! Thank you so much for watching this video! We made a follow-up video where we showed what this tomato plant looked like in the fall after it survived an extremely hot summer and how we planned to protect it from the first freeze. Howdy from Denton,TX. Great videos on Roma plants. Getting ready to plant in a few weeks. Thanks for the info.
Hi neighbor! Thank you! We'll be planting ours in the next couple of weeks, too. It's been unusually warm this year.
good advice, i will remember this info for next summer when i grow some tomatoes
I'm glad you've found it helpful!
Thank you for you video. I am trying to grow these for the first time in Zone 8a
You are very welcome! Best of luck! Romas are fun to grow!
Thank you for the video 😊
You are very welcome!
Thank you!
You are very welcome!
You should try some LaRoma III type. Very large. Yours look puny and not very fruity.
I will certainly try them. Thanks for the tip.
Cant really compare the two plants if you've been watering and feeding them both differently. Also one seed can just be stronger than the other. However i enjoyed the video and love to see sun and green leaves, something we're lacking this time of year.
The sun and green leaves certainly add cheer and joy! Thank you! 😊
@munchkin5674 No, it was healthy. It was just trying to survive the heat. In this video, we show what it looked like in the fall after it survived the summer. Amazingly, it survived it just fine. th-cam.com/video/Cn7iAXTWTOM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wy6qXVXWwwEZrvAN
Maraming salaamat
Walang anuman.
Roma's are technically classed as semi-determinate.
Good to know. Thanks!
👍

Howdy from Pa
Hi from TX.
My husband went to college in PA, and we've had a few nice trips up there.
neither one looks very good
I understand your point. Considering that the intense heat has killed most of our tomatoes and other plants, they are actually doing pretty good. In the fall, they'll look much better once the temperature goes down.
