    This is an amazing community idea.. I really hope that the City, County or State doesn't pull their usual BS Crap and come in and try to destroy these beautiful structures..

    Hi Miguel!
    We LOVE your videos, ideas, and "down to cob" ideas, instructions and inventive way of thinking.
    We have a question: you show in this video, and others that you build the cob on pallets/wood. Would it also be possible to replace the pallets with 2 sides of chicken wire, filled with straw and adding cob on the chicken wire?
    Thnx, and we are waiting for more great ideas and videos!
    Marty

      Yes, I would be interested in the chicken wire solution also. Even 3 layers with straw in-between and outsides covered with cob?!

      One of the great things about my Palletable cobin design is that you do not have to add chicken wire to the outside of the pallets for the cob to stick. A simple clay slip over the wood works great. Are you thinking of using the chicken wire so that you don't have to fill in some of the larger gaps between the boards of the pallets? Even then the back side of the pallet is usually missing a lot of wood you have to fill in. I prefer to not use chicken wire it's just not fun to apply and not necessary unless it's a mobile structure which I have built before

    💜 your videos! I do have a question though...I've seen some of your previous videos where you were building the cob/pallet structures on a wooden foundation. Wouldn't the cob eventually become too HEAVY for a wood foundation? (Because i like the concept of being off the ground due to a flooding area) Or would it be better to build on a MOUND type foundation? 🤔 (*I hope this make sense)...thanks in advance.

      If it is a strong Deck with some good concrete supports then you can build a very heavy cob structure on top without any issue. I just finished building a 320 square foot School on a deck and it hasn't been a problem at all. Most of the weight of the structure is on the uprights so when it's built on the ground putting the uprights in concrete supports the weight of the roof just fine. The space in between the uprights are not really bearing much weight

    Can’t find you on Facebook or your website?

    • @cobalot9
      @cobalot9  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, you totally can attach the pallets on either side of the upright so the walls are actually about 12 in thick now. You can leave the inside space hollow which would help with the insulation and act as a sound barrier. Framing in the windows and door gets a bit more complicated though when you do it that way.
