I’ve been watching your videos for the past six months and I get a lot from it, and now I finally get my first job as a cybersecurity engineer after two years of studying.. keep up the good work.
I'm literally mapping out this road map right now so I can follow it to a T. I hope to come back to this comment section one day to let you guys know how this video changed my life. Thank you UnixGuy
Thank you, this is a great video that come just in time for what I was looking. I have many years of experience as security engineer working in the DC with many security products such as CP, Cisco and lately Palo Alto. I have been working in n the cloud for some PAN VM series firewalls but I don’t have the cloud experience to know the ins / out of both AWS and Azure to figure my way out how all comes into places. I have been struggling which way to advance my cloud security knowledge and I was trying to match with what most jobs are looking in a candidate, and I didn’t know how to go about doing it. It didn’t not make sense to me to start from the beginning, and way my work up but I don’t have the skills they are looking n those jobs such as automation, scripting, etc. It did not make sense to me to throw my years of experience and switch to other roles such as solutions architect (to make it worth while) but I don’t have the depth of knowledge / experience for those type of roles. So your suggested path, I think it will make much more sense and I think I can see my self achieving all those skills and certs within a year time, so thank you. Just a specific question: 1. There are specialized networking certs for the cloud and what’s your opinion about those certs. I think knowing networking is also important to do security and if you have any suggesting (AWS and azure) 2. I see that there is a shift towards devsecops as well in the industry and I am wondering if cloud security engineers are also expected to fill those roles as well.
This is the kind of information people really need to hear. Too many people want to be a "trainer" and make money selling courses to show people how to pass an exam. There is not enough information to help people understand which certs and why they should focus on to map their career out.
This is a good roadmap to become a cloud security engineer, just sharing a little bit of my experience as a cloud security engineer. I started as a cloud engineer for around 1 year and a half before transitioning to cloud security engineer AZ-500 is a really good certification to get after AZ-104. I did a lot of mini labs projects of Microsoft Sentinel & Microsoft Defender for the cloud during my free time, and network security is also essential 😊 Good luck for everyone ❤
You never fail to hit the big points! Certifications are good to get past HR, but practical experience is key to not only getting hired but also becoming an asset. Hiring and Program managers will usually ask practical application questions that can't be answered with A, B, or C. Do those projects for hands-on skill and never stop developing yourself.
Exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you. I am currently studying AWS and I have CompTIA Sec+. Also doing a Security internship where I play with Azure/AD/Secure Score.

SO i completed the google cyber security cert and i've started on the Microsoft. Also in the middle of my Network Security & Engineer BSc right now as well. Thanks for this.
thank you for this video. I was feeling down for buying coursera for a year cause it seems like the certs aren't helping with landing a entry lvl job. this has been a nice step by step insight on more than just multiple questions.
@UnixGuy I'm just in a tight spot as a single father with a little one to watch after... some times it just feels like I'm running out of time. but I won't quit on her. failure isn't an option. thank you for the advice be safe out there.
Question. I found your videos and they have given me exactly what I was looking for. A cost effective path that is straight to the point. I’ll be learning exactly what I need and no filler. My question is though that when I’ve asked around the community people have said the Google certifications are not really recognized in the community. I remember you saying you did as well attend a University. I’m sure you’ve been in a hiring position by now….Is this true? Will it make getting a job harder? Are employers going to want more and not take these certs seriously? If anyone has done one of these pathways solely and have experience with getting into the job I would like to hear from you as well!
I post weekly success stories of individuals from all over the world who followed my roadmaps, so it works. I wouldn’t worry about ‘recognised’. The skills you learn are ‘recognised’. Also, the google cert is the beginning of you journey, you will be doing a lot more stuff afterwards
This seem to be bit too oriented towards Microsoft Azure. The company I work for mostly uses AWS and to some extent GCP. It would be great if you could provide pathway for each cloud.
As I explained in the video, all these platform are extremely similar! you can do Aws practitioner, then aws architect then security. Likewise with gcp
Thank you so much for this! Would you recommend jumping straight to the Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) Professional Certificate training if my only experience is the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity and no previous knowledge of Azure?
Another great video thank you so much for this free knowledge. I've done the NYU course you've mentioned and I'm halfway through the google cert but this video opened my eyes to more possibilities and I'm a bit lost now. Is this pathway into cloud better than the traditional one (Google/CompTIA/blue team/ projects/etc) in terms of career and salary progression? Again, thanks A LOT for your videos man, the best in youtube 🙏
hey mate, well done on finishing the NYU courses! this path is no better or worse than the security analyst path; it’s just another possibility for you :) pick one path and follow through with it
In the US, it's still worth getting the Sec+ for any security job mainly because it will get you past tons of gatekeepers and is literally required for almost anything involving government / government contractors.
I have discussed the ‘HR filters/keywords’ in many videos. Do security+ if you feel strongly about it and you want to apply to a specific government job (DoD). Otherwise no, it is not a must in the US.
Hey, great video - got me pumped up! Quick thing though, I remember you being all in on AWS before, but now it's all about Azure? i am a little confused from where I'll start my road map? I'm transitioning from business to cloud security, so a bit of clarity would be awesome. Thanks a bunch!
As explained in the video, both azure and aws are very similar, learn one and you’ll be good at the other. It just happened that there is more quality training coming from azure that makes it easier for beginners to start
Thank you so much for your videos. Specially this one. I have been working for 10 years as a security engineer. I watched this video three months ago and now I am following your recommendations. I am preparing myself for the SC 900 exam. I know someone asked you if there is an updated link to the SQL course. Could you please tell us if you know it? Again, thank you for all your videos !
With this comment i swear that i will put all my effort in this roadmap to became in a cloud security engineer. And i will come back in 6 month now and share my results. Also i will create a channel posting all my progress. See you!
Very Good Morning! Thanks! for the complete path to gain knowledge for Cloud Security... Securing Azure SQL Database -- looks like this guided project is no longer is showing in Coursera. Thanks! again, keep Shining 🙂
Thank you so much for your incredibly helpful content! In addition to what you've listed, are there other AWS resources for guided projects you're able to recommend for someone who started their journey with AWS? I currently have the CP and SAA certifications, and am thinking about next steps. And when do you think would be a good time to dive into Microsoft Azure based on this trajectory?
Thank you so much for your consistency. For someone that is just starting out without the funds to pay for these trainings or certs, what do you recommend?
I have been following all your videos so well explained and exactly what I was looking for. I started my career in MNCs like dell and HP in the Technical support teams, Transitioned into IT sales, Worked as Business Anlayst and now in the project Management Space. I am looking to transition into Cloud Security. Do You reckon this is a suitable pathway for me ?
Thanks for this vid! I started with step one! But do got a question. Do you need to learn coding as well? If so in which course do they teach you that? Courses don’t seem to teach that? Greetings from The Netherlands!
for most roles now you don’t need coding. You might only need it if you if you decide to specialise in automation. I recommend you follow the plan as it is and it will get you to your goal. You don’t need to worry about coding just yet :)
Hey UnixGuy, so while i was studying for the az104 recently, i did a lot of hands on guided projects. But had to delete them unfortunately due to cost But i'm pretty comfortable at this point navigating through the azure portal, creating/using VM's, storages, policies, firewalls and load balancers. I have no problem doing them again, but is there a way that i can link them to a portfolio. Well the better question now would be, how and do i even start in making a portfolio? Lol I have zero IT work experience, started messing around with the cloud this past summer. And cloud security has caught my intrigue.
Thank you for the info. Is there a reason you recommend the coursera options over the free Microsoft Learn (which also include free practice tests) options for SC-900 and AZ-500?
Hey! Thank you so much for your videos! I got interested in being a Cybersecurity Analyst and I've started by doing the Google Coursera certificate. What other certificates would you say I would need or if there's a video of yours you could link for me to watch I'd appreciate it very much!
Hello UnixGuy, Thank you for this roadmap. I saw a map from a cloud guru listing the AZ 104 as needed prior to the AZ 500 whilest listing AZ 204 and 304 as recommend. Whats is your take on these cerifications?
Hi @UnixGuy!! I love this road map! I come from a short-lived vulnerability management background after realizing I did not enjoy it and am now really interested in the idea of Cloud Security Engineer. I have a question about one point in your video, where you said a lot of people narrow down their job selections too much when job hunting. Do you have advice on what key terms and titles to apply for when it comes time for a newbie to search for a job? Like would these certifications and projects be applicable to a regular cloud engineer, or say a regular security engineer? Any others? Thank you so much, 10/10 content as always!
@@UnixGuy Your sincere and caring approach shines through every video; there’s a clear difference between you and the rest who make similar videos. This is why I said what I said 🙏🏾.
Thanks for providing information, I am thinking to make carrier in cybersecurity. The path which you provided, can you let me know how much time will it take to complete this roadmap.
Thank you for providing this insightful video. I aspire to pursue a career as a Cloud Security Engineer, despite not having a formal degree or background in IT. While I appreciate the roadmap you've laid out, I'm concerned about the relevance of CompTIA Security+ certification for HR screening. Could you please give your view on whether HR departments typically require this certification when considering candidates for roles like mine? Thank you for sharing your expertise and guidance.
I am really grateful to you for this info u shared, this is what I was looking for. Thank you once again. Is Comptia Security + good compared to AWS SCS-C02 ? As Comptia Sec + is vendor neutral. Please suggest.
comptia sec+ is an entry level general cyber cert, it is good the aws security specialty is focused on security within the aws environment they’re two different things
Amazing video! Always very helpful and insightful! Question! I have a B.A in computer technology, i am interested in becoming a cloud engineer but i have not earned any comptia certifications only aws practitioner, what would you recommend for me? To focus more on cloud certifications? Or more I.T based certifications? I have not yet i had a real job in I.T by the way. Thanks
hey mate, you can definitely just focus on cloud skills and if you’re concerned about general ‘IT’ skills then you can brush up quickly on them by doing the courses recommended in this video: th-cam.com/video/rIOvsj7jBuQ/w-d-xo.html
@@UnixGuy that’s great advance ! Thank you! So you think it’s worth my time getting A+ or network + before going straight to cloud? Because like you mentioned before getting certifications are good but i need projects and real life experiences right?
I just started doing the Microsoft cybersecurity analyst professional certificate , when should I start the guided projects ? After I finish that certificate or while I’m doing the certificate ? Also are there any other projects that you recommend ? I learn better by practicing , I’m terrible with the course material until I put it to practice . Thank you in advance . Love the videos btw

thank you for this video. I was feeling down for buying coursera for a year cause it seems like the certs aren't helping with landing a entry lvl job. this has been a nice step by step insight on more than just multiple questions.
don’t feel down, you can definitely make excellent use of it!
@UnixGuy I'm just in a tight spot as a single father with a little one to watch after... some times it just feels like I'm running out of time. but I won't quit on her. failure isn't an option. thank you for the advice be safe out there.
yeah mate must be really tough! hang in there!
I pray that I finish all the certifications and get all the skills within one year.
I don’t see why not! make it happen 👏🏻
Also, the google cert is the beginning of you journey, you will
be doing a lot more stuff afterwards
This seem to be bit too oriented towards Microsoft Azure. The company I work for mostly uses AWS and to some extent GCP. It would be great if you could provide pathway for each cloud.
As I explained in the video, all these platform are extremely similar! you can do Aws practitioner, then aws architect then security. Likewise with gcp
This is my goal!!
go for it 👏🏻
Mine too! Good luck with your studies
@@goldielocs41let’s stay connected !
Awesome info! Thank you for another great video friend.
My pleasure!
You're the best man straight forward thanks for the Learning Path!
🙏🏻
Thank you so much for this! Would you recommend jumping straight to the Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) Professional Certificate training if my only experience is the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity and no previous knowledge of Azure?
I would at least do the practical projects first :)
Loving always the content.🎉
thanks mate 🙏🏻
Brilliant video. This is a possibility for the future 🙂
its one of the popular paths 🙏🏻
Another great video thank you so much for this free knowledge.
I've done the NYU course you've mentioned and I'm halfway through the google cert but this video opened my eyes to more possibilities and I'm a bit lost now. Is this pathway into cloud better than the traditional one (Google/CompTIA/blue team/ projects/etc) in terms of career and salary progression?
Again, thanks A LOT for your videos man, the best in youtube 🙏
hey mate, well done on finishing the NYU courses!
this path is no better or worse than the security analyst path; it’s just another possibility for you :) pick one path and follow through with it
One is faster! (Hint hint: you'll be able to advance faster too :D)
I have 4years experience as soc and 3years with azure sentinel. My wishlist is az-500 and sc-100 i hope i can achieve that in the future
You can do it! Nice Sora pfp btw😎 he’s my main in smash bros
I don’t see why not
Great effort sir , Thank you .
Very valuable information.
glad its helpful!
What is DoD?

Hey, great video - got me pumped up! Quick thing though, I remember you being all in on AWS before, but now it's all about Azure? i am a little confused from where I'll start my road map? I'm transitioning from business to cloud security, so a bit of clarity would be awesome. Thanks a bunch!
As explained in the video, both azure
and aws are very similar, learn one and you’ll be good at the other. It just happened that there is more quality training coming from azure that makes it easier for beginners to start
@UnixGuy Fair enough, you were number one following this month on TH-cam, but now you are EVEN more
you’re a g thanks brother
Happy to help :)
I’m enrolling for the Microsoft cyber security analyst next month, September.

Great video! Thank you. How long do you think this road map would take?
no idea, everyone learns at a different speed
Thank you. This is really helpful and a great guide.
Glad it was helpful!
OH. I see. The Az 500 training course with capstone is on Coursera? That is what I have been looking for along with your detailed guide. Thanks again.
The dialogue of Brucelee was ❤.... Good information bro

Again, thank you for all your videos !
great work! unfortunately that course is no longer available so just go ahead and skip it :) continue with the rest of the plan
@@UnixGuy thank you so much for taking the time to answer my comment. I really appreciate it. I will follow your advice ! ✋🏼👊🏼
With this comment i swear that i will put all my effort in this roadmap to became in a cloud security engineer. And i will come back in 6 month now and share my results. Also i will create a channel posting all my progress. See you!
enjoy the journey 🎉
Great information! Please do one video for Network security engineer
maybe in the near future :)
Very Good Morning!
Thanks! for the complete path to gain knowledge for Cloud Security...
Securing Azure SQL Database -- looks like this guided project is no longer is showing in Coursera.
Thanks! again, keep Shining 🙂
thanks for letting me know; I’ll look for an alternative!
I've just updated the links in the description box of the video!
@@UnixGuy thank you very much for your support 👍
Great content man! Thak you :)

Thank you so much for your incredibly helpful content! In addition to what you've listed, are there other AWS resources for guided projects you're able to recommend for someone who started their journey with AWS? I currently have the CP and SAA certifications, and am thinking about next steps. And when do you think would be a good time to dive into Microsoft Azure based on this trajectory?
yes It’s a great time to do so! the skills in azure are tranferrable to aws and some of the project listed are aws related :)
Yes I needed this video!!
🫡
Great video. What about if you want to go the AWS route?
once u do those u can learn aws quickly, same concepts just different names
Thank you so much for your consistency.
For someone that is just starting out without the funds to pay for these trainings or certs, what do you recommend?
unfortunately there are no free alternatives, so best is to get a job to save up and pay for training
I have been following all your videos so well explained and exactly what I was looking for. I started my career in MNCs like dell and HP in the Technical support teams, Transitioned into IT sales, Worked as Business Anlayst and now in the project Management Space. I am looking to transition into Cloud Security. Do You reckon this is a suitable pathway for me ?
hey mate, yes this is definitely the path that’s suitable for you. Your technical support background will help a lot
@@UnixGuy Thanks! ❤️
Hey UnixGuy, so while i was studying for the az104 recently, i did a lot of hands on guided projects. But had to delete them unfortunately due to cost
But i'm pretty comfortable at this point navigating through the azure portal, creating/using VM's, storages, policies, firewalls and load balancers. I have no problem doing them again, but is there a way that i can link them to a portfolio.
Well the better question now would be, how and do i even start in making a portfolio? Lol
I have zero IT work experience, started messing around with the cloud this past summer. And cloud security has caught my intrigue.
start by doing the projects and certs recommended in this video :)
Hi Unixguy, could you create a guide on projects and certifications for cloud security in AWS please. Thanks in advance
the video includes aws projects, check them out please…
Amazing information as always.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much sir . I appreciate your guidance.
Always welcome!
Thank you for the info. Is there a reason you recommend the coursera options over the free Microsoft Learn (which also include free practice tests) options for SC-900 and AZ-500?
it’s got better reviews but try the free one first if it’s enougn then proceed with it :)
@@UnixGuy makes sense, thanks :)
@unixguy if you already have Security plus would you still recommend start with the coursera Microsoft cybersecurity certificate?
It’s honeslty optional at this point :)
thank you so much! i decided to start with aws cloud practitioner first, I’m halfway my course on udemy and it’s so boring i actually cant
good luck!
Hey! Thank you so much for your videos! I got interested in being a Cybersecurity Analyst and I've started by doing the Google Coursera certificate. What other certificates would you say I would need or if there's a video of yours you could link for me to watch I'd appreciate it very much!
I have a video titled fastest way to be a cyber analyst - follow that :)
thanks you, this information is very useful
Glad it was helpful!
Hello UnixGuy,
Thank you for this roadmap. I saw a map from a cloud guru listing the AZ 104 as needed prior to the AZ 500 whilest listing AZ 204 and 304 as recommend. Whats is your take on these cerifications?
they’re ok, do them if you want after finishing this roadmap :)
Inspirational I will follow ❤❤️
good luck
Hi @UnixGuy!! I love this road map! I come from a short-lived vulnerability management background after realizing I did not enjoy it and am now really interested in the idea of Cloud Security Engineer. I have a question about one point in your video, where you said a lot of people narrow down their job selections too much when job hunting. Do you have advice on what key terms and titles to apply for when it comes time for a newbie to search for a job? Like would these certifications and projects be applicable to a regular cloud engineer, or say a regular security engineer? Any others? Thank you so much, 10/10 content as always!
I recommend searching for the word ‘cyber’ :) I talked about it in this video:
th-cam.com/video/csXVHpDNM4M/w-d-xo.html
@@UnixGuy Lol I hear you loud and clear! I did hear that in that video, thanks for the confirmation :)

@@UnixGuy Your sincere and caring approach shines through every video; there’s a clear difference between you and the rest who make similar videos. Your ability to create a roadmap for beginners, and show them clarity on how to achieve their career goals and skills acquisition from a recruiter perspective is second to none. Thanks for providing information, I am thinking to make carrier in cybersecurity. The path which you provided, can you let me know how much time will it take to complete this roadmap.
it depends on how fast you learn! take your time and absorb the information well
Thank you for providing this insightful video.
I’ve discussed that in so many videos already…

I'm I will but when get my first gob
I was literally just googling regarding this.
glad you found it :)
I am really grateful to you for this info u shared, this is what I was looking for. Thank you once again.
Is Comptia Security + good compared to AWS SCS-C02 ?
As Comptia Sec + is vendor neutral.
Please suggest.
comptia sec+ is an entry level general cyber cert, it is good
the aws security specialty is focused on security within the aws environment
they’re two different things
In the process of completing this now
Good luck!
Pls, I need to join,I'm currently on my cyber security journey and I hope to come back here to appreciate your effort.
Thanks so much
not sure I underatand your question, but follow the roadmap in the videos and you will reach your goals :)
damn great video i wish you could make a video on cloud engineer too
the focus of the channel is cyber security, perhaps you can do cloud sec instead? 😎
You’re the BEST ❤… simple

Amazing video! Always very helpful and insightful! Question! I have a B.A in computer technology, i am interested in becoming a cloud engineer but i have not earned any comptia certifications only aws practitioner, what would you recommend for me? To focus more on cloud certifications? Or more I.T based certifications? I have not yet i had a real job in I.T by the way. Thanks
hey mate, you can definitely just focus on cloud skills and if you’re concerned about general ‘IT’ skills then you can brush up quickly on them by doing the courses recommended in this video:
th-cam.com/video/rIOvsj7jBuQ/w-d-xo.html
@@UnixGuy that’s great advance ! Thank you! So you think it’s worth my time getting A+ or network + before going straight to cloud? Because like you mentioned before getting certifications are good but i need projects and real life experiences right?
I just started doing the Microsoft cybersecurity analyst professional certificate , when should I start the guided projects ? After I finish that certificate or while I’m doing the certificate ? Also are there any other projects that you recommend ? I learn better by practicing , I’m terrible with the course material until I put it to practice . Thank you in advance . Love the videos btw
Follow the roadmap as it is, do the projects after you finish the certs. It is important you follow the roadmap in the correct order it's laid out
