I was just looking at the 2024 cloud roadmap video to start. I'm in a bootcamp to become a SOC analyst but eventually I wanna go into cloud security area of Cyber. I'm really torn between AWS or Azure first. I know AWS has a larger market share but so many companies use windows PCs and that's what I'm learning to triage and investigate on for Cyber security. I'm thinking azure is in big demand as well. I guess the safe route is to learn AWS first. I'll make a decision when I get to that road. Thanks for this. Yo, Unix. I have a question for you. I'm planning to pursue my masters in cyber security in Australia. Could you make a video on MSc in Australia and prior knowledge before joining the cyber security MSc program? The question is that: Should I plan for the USA, UK, Australia? As you're in Australia, could you list out some of the best universities and their programs? By this, you can get views too.
I don’t recommend doing masters in cyber security. Way overpriced for little value. Gain the real skills by following recommendations in the video and save your money
@@UnixGuy Yes, I do agree with the statement that doing master's in cybersecurity abroad is way overpaid. But my scheme is to secure a job in foreign countries because the pay over there is often considered as high when compared to my locality. So the thing that is, when I come with that money and get it for my fam in my country that could be a better money for them And I do say that, instead of paying that huge amount over master's degree, you can pay on your courses and certifications. But those certifications courses can't land me a job in foreign even though as a remote, right? They say , I need to have a work visa from my company, or, or doing any post in other countries.
Thanks! I have MS-900, AZ-900, and will take SC-900. I want to land in a IT Support function, so i am planning to take the Microsoft IT Support Specialist course from coursera. Thank you for the practical and useful guidance. Would your recommendations in the video remain the same for an experienced cybersecurity professional with both ISC2 (CISSP) and ISACA (CISM and CISA) certifications who is embarking on cloud security?
Pretty much the same plan, depending on your experience you can possibly skip the google cyber cert and the microsoft cyber analyst certs and go straight to the cloud certs in the video :)
@@UnixGuy Sir, firstly I would really like to thank you for giving me a reply. I like networking and aspire to become a network engineer. Watching your videos I realized that Cybersecurity also requires decent networking knowledge. My question to you is, should I just focus on Networking (is it a good field based on the current industry requirements) or should I make a shift into the Cybersecurity industry. Also, is network security a part of Cybersecurity? I am a fresher and am looking to start my career. Please guide me. Thanks!!
If you want to work in cyber security follow roadmaps on my videos (without changing them) there are more opportunities in cyber security than network engineering
Hey brother, I know this is a bit off-topic, but I wanted to get your thoughts on something. I recently completed the Google Cybersecurity Certification, and now I’m planning to do the CompTIA Security+ certification. However, I’ve noticed that a lot of the material overlaps with what I’ve already covered in the Google certification, and to be honest, it’s starting to feel repetitive and boring. So, I’m thinking of taking a different approach-focusing on doing 10-15 Security+ practice exams, which would add up to around 1500 questions. After that, I’d go straight for the actual exam. Do you think this strategy would work, or would it be a waste of time? I’m a bit stuck on what direction to take and thought I’d ask for your advice. Thanks in advance, brother!
yep that’s why it’s always a good idea to follow the roadmaps that I put out as they are without a changing them (the order of things is for a reason). You can focus on practice tests. Best is to follow this plan as it is: th-cam.com/video/rz0RL4Xue-A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JqALgZilBUmxPyS_
Thanks for the great work you are doing but i notice most times you don't add books to consult for further or required trainings, is it that most of these video trainings have covered what will be found in a cybersecurity books or most of the books study are not really worth it may be introduction to cybersecurity books and other higher level cybersecurity books. I need to hear your view since are an authority in this field
What do you think about starting off with aws cloud practitioner alongside ISC2 cert in cybersecurity? ISC2 have a pledge to bring 1 million people into cybersecurity with a one time free offering for their course with an exam.
Hello Unix . I live in India . I have experience as a Network engineer , Web Pentester . Now I am thinking of shifting my career in cloud security. I feel Pentesting is overcrowded we just follow a checklist. Cloud Security is still less crowded and highly demanded in future and specific suggestions would be great to shape my career. Question 2: How much month would it take to follow this roadmap any specific idea.
For Cybersecurity professionals who just want to add cloud security into their skillset: Is the SC 200 not extremely valuable, even in comparison to 500
Question I heard one coworker who is a senior talk about I should stop doing pentesting and pivot into cloud because it’s growing so much and future prospects are amazing. But then I also heard from a cfo cloud is just a short term trend and people exaggerate the future growth. What do you think ?
there are more cloud jobs and soc analyst jobs ane GRC jobs than pentesting. Just sheer number of jobs. no reason why you cant do both. your CFO doesnt know what they talking about. cloud isnt going anywhere

My plan is to move to Australia for a masters in cyber security in 2026. In the mean time, should I join this type of low paid internship? or focus on certifications eJPT -> cpts -> OSCP with my personal savings, so that after moving to Australia, I can easily land on my first entry level job.
Do you recomend to specilize only on one Azure/Aws or taking certifications for both?
This was explained in the video :)
Now watching 😊
Thanks for all this information. Also will you add ISO 27001 or PCI DSs to your GRC Mastery course?
I might but honestly GRC Mastery already covers everything you need for those frameworks. I use NIST as an example but its the same stuff 🤷🏻♂️
@@UnixGuythank you for the clarification.
The best!!! 🔥☁

Thanks so much this is good news for me

Hi Unix guy could you do a update on a Cyber Security Engineer roadmap, PLZ Thanks!!!😊😊😊🔥🔥🔥
possible, but not much has changed yet 😎
Thanks Unixguy.
🙏🏻
Thank you for your sharing
Glad to help 🙂
@@UnixGuy because of you, I subscribe to let'sdefend. It's a very good platform 👍👍. I'm working on the SOC analyst path
Thank you for the video! What are your thoughts on the AWS solution architect associate certification?
yes its a good one! you can do it after the SysOps
@@UnixGuy Thanks!
Working on it

Thanks! I have MS-900, AZ-900, and will take SC-900. I want to land in a IT Support function, so i am planning to take the Microsoft IT Support Specialist course from coursera. What do you think of that? Would that be an important one? I kinda like anything IT related so i find it hard to choose one path at the moment. I did not follow any study for this sector. I want to experience more in this field.
it’s best to stick to the plan in the video, you’ll be more well rounded
Awesome video! I start my tech career on Jan 2nd as a service desk analyst and just got a mentor kind of near me that works in cloud. He told me I should learn sql basics networking basics and then do the certs you literally mentioned. And he said after I’m able to get a cloud role try to add python. You think that’s a good idea?
yep those are all incorporated in the plan in the video :)
@ cool beans ! Just wasn’t sure about the programming part I think I’ll save that one for later for progressing my career might check out the google automation with python!
@ it doesnt need to be programming heavy and most roles wont need it - follow the plan and it’ll all make sense :) enjoy!
Is cloud security a good way to get into cybersecurity as an entry level, I can’t decide between becoming SOC analyst or going into cloud security.
Aim to be a generlist first then specialise:

5:20 'the google cloud'. I think you meant 'Google Cybersecurity Certificate'. Easy for me to catch, because I just finished the Google CC. Keep up the great work!
@UnixGuy is correct, there's Google Cloud Cybersecurity, which is totally different from Google Cybersecurity Certificate.
correct, the google cyber cert :)
Would you advise that one tackle the google Cybersecurity cert and the AWS cloud practitioner together?
I recommend doing one at a time :)
Aws and Azure are the top 2
correct
What do you think of the platform Zero to Mastery with their cybersecurity course ?
I don’t recommend it. If you’re starting from zero, follow this:
th-cam.com/video/rz0RL4Xue-A/w-d-xo.html
Is there a road map for cyber/cloud security that non US citizens can pursue while living in the US ?
most jobs dont require citizenship (unless they require a clearance like a DoD job)
Please make a roadmap to become a Network Engineer
not my area of expertise :)
Thanks!!
If you want to work in cyber security follow roadmaps on my videos (without changing them)
there are more opportunities in cyber security than network engineering

Best is to follow this plan as it is:

@@UnixGuy Thanks brother for your answer!
I know people learn differently. Please on an average how long can one learn or go through this road Map?
no one knows how fast you learn or whar u currently know… pace yourself and learn, its not a race
Books get outdated very quickly, video based training with labs will get you to learn faster and better
@UnixGuy thank you
What do you think about starting off with aws cloud practitioner alongside ISC2 cert in cybersecurity?
ISC2 have a pledge to bring 1 million people into cybersecurity with a one time free offering for their course with an exam.
no, the CC is watered down and you’ll end needing to pay $50 to get the cert …
@UnixGuy Great! Thank you!!! 😊
Would you advise starters to go into just cyber security doing google certificate, comptia sec, grc and soc level1 or do the path of cloud security ?
yes I recommend following this plan first:
th-cam.com/video/rz0RL4Xue-A/w-d-xo.html
How about the AWS skill builder (subscription based) for those AWS certs you was talking about to gain hands on learning and labs?
use the resources in the video first and if you feel you still need more then sign up to skillsbuilder
So you think cloud guru’s labs would be better to use than aws skill builder’s?
@@christopherderavine566 As explained in the video, I've used them for a long time and prefer them
Hello Unix .
Question 2: How much month would it take to follow this roadmap any specific idea.
no one knows how fast you learn. Start learning and it’ll work out
For Cybersecurity professionals who just want to add cloud security into their skillset: Is the SC 200 not extremely valuable, even in comparison to 500
it’s fine, you can do it :)
@ okay thank you I felt he’s ignorant and simply wrong
@@naesone2653 no you're not :) so many people have so many 'opinions', very few people actually worked enough/seen enough in this industry. It's a lot bigger than most think! keep studying and it'll all make sense :)
@@UnixGuy i see thank you, so if you would start over right now do you have a path you would personally pursue, taking into account future growth in that position but also the job itself being fun or fulfilling.

no idea, everyone learns at a different speed. no one knows how fast you learn...
Is it possible to get a cloud security engineer role without a btech degree but a bca?
yea
hello tysm i just finished high school and i kinda cant get to uni due to it being way too expenisve hopefully this will help me get a job without a degree i really wanna know if i can get a job just by having afew certificates in cloud security
good luck!
Hi, So I am confused now cuz I followed the first one for Azure is it different? 2. also for Aws do I need to do it from the beginning or just Aws security
stay with the previoue roadmap, then just add the aws section from this video
Sir the plural sight links in the descriptions for the guided projects is not working :(
I just checked it, it's not the link that's broken - it seems pluralsight is offline temporarily for this particular link. Come back to it later, do others that are listed :)
@UnixGuy thank you! Actually i was just taking notes for all the certifications you mentioned in the video and then i was also trying to check the guided projects links, so found that issue. Will try again. 👍 I am actually starting the cloud journey from now Jan 2025🙂 following exactly your instructions.
A confusion came up. Need your help. If I am a Electrical Engineering Graduate and i want to shift or get a career in Cloud like Cloud Engineer or Devops Engineer. Then, Do I need to have knowledge about software development and things like that before being a cloud or devops engineer?? Please Guide.
No, what you need is to follow whats recommended in the video
Why are deciding to switch.
Electrical Engineering has good demand and pay.
Exactly where I am now.

Awesome work, keep going 👍
Are you planning to take the sc-200?
Is SC-200 worth it? I've already taken the SC-900. Really don't know, because there is no course here on yt and the MS Learn is a bit meh

I have done Google Cybersecurity Cert and passed the CompTIA Security +, how long you think realistically it would take to do these cloud certs studying part time? Thank you!
no idea how fast you learn :)
I have done MS-102 cert of Azure 😅
congrats! if you wanna learn more do the ones recommended in the video :)
so we should do AWS Certified SysOps Administrator before Azure Fundamentals??
that’s not what the video says :)
Greetings @unixGuy!
What if someone has started following your previou cloud security rode map, it's necessary to do all those others certs you mentioned in this recent cloud security road map , that you haven't mentioned in your previou cloud security road map.
no its not necessary! my previous cloud roadmap is very similar becaise it covers azure security, you can simply add in aws security from this roadmap :)
I am IT grad from Bangladesh. My country's cyber security industry is still in early stage. They offer an intern 66$ to 80$ for 210 hours which is quite demotivating. My plan is to move to Australia for a masters in cyber security in 2026.
In the mean time, should I join this type of low paid internship? or focus on certifications eJPT -> cpts -> OSCP with my personal savings, so that after moving to Australia, I can easily land on my first entry level job.
TIA.
follow the advice in the video as it is. yes take the internship! I dont recommend masters in australia, they’re high priced low quality
