I love Time Force and how emotionally driven it was at times. But Lost Galaxy is when shit got REAL. From the very first episode too. It was like they were awarding the fans for helping save the show after In Space
Weird fun fact; there's a reason the Lights of Orion plotline felt disjointed and the entire Lost Galaxy was shitty filler. Namely, the Lights of Orion episodes were filmed ONLY A WEEK before airing due to the season's production hell and the Lost Galaxy was created because they wanted to use more Sentai footage so they could save money for "Journey's End." Why create a whole other galaxy then? Probably because having two villains active at the same time doesn't work as seen in Overdrive.
I remember in "Power Rangers:In Space" When Astronema/ Karone created a monster that could change Astronema to anyone, she chose Ashley . When she fought Andros at the end of the story and lost, she said," I never wanted to be a Power Ranger anyway". Then 14 seasons later in Power Rangers Megaforce,"The Legacy War", She comes back as the Pink Galaxy Ranger, and said," I love being a Power Ranger". Or some words to that effect, and briefly becomes Astronema again before morphing back to Karone and then putting on the helmet.
I just realised why I love the Magna Defender. He is basically a Mandalorian. Race of people who wear armour and never take off their helmets with awesome weapons.
Why the new Saban stuff sucks, simply because seasons like this show that you can have serious and genuinely good story writing without dumbing it down just cause it's "for kids". I loved power rangers as a kid because it didn't treat me like an infant and the acting wasn't forcefully cheesy, it felt natural and they actually put real effort into what they did.
After reading about how insane the production of this show was (Seriously, look it up.), it's kind of astounding they made something this great out of it. Kudos, this was a great video.
Yeah, the behind the scenes was pretty crazy for this one. It reminded me of all those stories you here about backstage movie drama, but all the tension and uncertainty helped make the finished product that much better.
I'm glad that Lost Galaxy is getting the respect it deserves. It's my favorite season too and this video made me love it even more. The themes I got from it was not letting the past define you and how the different ways to deal with death either through revenge (Magna Defender, Trakeena), moving forwards (Rangers and Trakeena to a degree) and keeping mementos of said person (Magna Powers for Mike, Staff for Trakeena, Dog Tags for Leo, Quasar Saber for Karone). Now that I think about it; this season had more character deaths than any other season and unintentionally made it as one of it's main themes. People die on either side of the war. Pretty powerful for a kids show. This season kicks ass and I appreciate finding another fan who seems to love it more than I.
Good observation with the keeping mementos part! With every sacrifice, even Loyax', there was something to remember them by that either still stands today or was carried forward by one of the characters.
I didn't really consider Loyax as that was more a memorial than a memento but I guess it still qualifies. LG was one of those seasons who had production issues but it was those production issues that ultimately made the series memorable and complex!
After Loyax's death his sword is placed in the ground becoming a cross grave marker. The episode ends with Maya and the rest of the Rangers walking into the sunset. The dying light of the sun is silhouetted against the Rangers and the grave. It's a good shot especially for Power Rangers.
Doing these videos makes me realize that I should also do a major update on my top 10 Ranger seasons. My original video criminally underrated In Space and Time Force and I think they should both be top 5 honestly.
Kendrix dying because Valerie Vernon had leukemia was heartbreaking, but it did open the door for Karone to become the new Pink Ranger, completing her redemption arc. It was also very cool of Saban to keep giving her credit so she could get paid as well as covering the cost of her treatment. Trakeena is my third-favorite big bad behind Ransik and Astronema/Karone. The story of the Magna Defender is generally sad and dark, but it was a great way for the series to grow up along with the fans.
Such an amazing season in the PR universe. Holds up and gets real that modern seasons lack due to adhering to a bit of a younger audience. It was a crazy change up that paid off very well.
Leo's face after the planet gets "frozen over" has a mix of pain, anger, and sadness on it. He just lost his brother and wants revenge, but at the same time, he doesn't believe he's worthy of his power. Great acting.
Kendricks's body was vaporized, her spirit went into the sword, & when they were put back into the stone, she was restored along with the planet & people. That makes the most sense.
I only ever saw (or knew about) Lost Galaxy thanks to the AMAZING crossover with Lightspeed Rescue. As a kid, owning the VHS with the episodes was a delightful experience, & introduced me to the Power Rangers series (when it was good).

Just to avoid future nitpickers, the RPM in Power Rangers RPM stands for "Racing Performance Machines"; it wasn't brought up at all in the show. It was said in blurbs on Bandai's website.
Wow, did not realize that at all, lol,. I was taking High School physics when RPM came out, realized the acronym was similar to rev per min, and never thought twice about it.
Lost Galaxy is easily my favorite season for a few reasons: - Leo is the greatest red ranger and his story was so captivating -Magna Defender is my favorite 6th ranger (ally) -Seeing a ranger die in battle, made the series much darker and serious -As you mentioned before, a good amount of characters had redemption -Trakeena was the first very creepy main villain -Best theme song
Liked this season. Maya Kendrix and karone were my favorite characters. Hated that Kendrix sacrificed herself but glad karone stepped up to take her place. I felt maya had the most growth. Glad cerina Vincent is still acting.
If Valerie was healthy enough to stay on, Karone probably wouldn't have come aboard, and Power of Pink probably wouldn't exist, at least, not as is. It's both interesting and a little sad that real life circumstance forced Lost Galaxy's hand and probably made the season better as a result. Although for me, even though this is my favorite season, I would have traded the better season we got in a heartbeat if it meant that Val would never have to go through the scare that is leukemia.
Heaven Piercing Man Sounds like a good idea on paper, but it would've depended on the situations entirely. Executing such a big move like that would have to have some real creative writing.
Nicely done video. While I was not really a watcher of the older seasons of Power Rangers growing up, as I started with Lightspeed Rescue and then Wild Force, I still know the power Lost Galaxy holds in the fandom for so many brilliant characters. It's one of the reasons I enjoyed the show growing up; when they can make characters into role models. Lost Galaxy in particular gives various roles. The feeling of isolation, discrimination, as well as feeling like you do not belong are some of the themes I noticed in the show and the fact they were able to overcome and surpass is amazing. Cannot wait for you to discuss RPM, as I heard it is pretty good but I'd still like to see your take on it.
Thank you for the kind words! And yeah, I too love it when superheroes can be more than just savers of the day. One of many reasons that Kendrix became my first and still biggest crush of any fictional character. RPM will be a fun one to talk about, but this time I'll probably look to dive into one specific episode of it and discuss it more deeply before eventually going into an almost as lengthy thematic review for it and the other seasons.

This season really demoted us that Power Rangers wasn't always a show for kids, really when we were kids we couldn't realize a lot of things that we can see when we grow up and that's why I'm proud to say that I grew up watching Power Rangers since Mighty Morphin and I'm not ashamed to say I still see them now that I'm 27
Mike's sacrifice is a thing that for many children became an first emotional trauma when they saw the Rangers for the first time. Especially for my sister, because at the time of viewing she had no idea what death was. 0.0 And even though he came back later, we were all terrified, just like Leo, that it would happen again. My heart sank every time this Corbett did something suicidal. Especially at ep.18 when the monster almost pulled him into the ship and Leo screamed "Not this time!" Yes, damn it! This season was able to play on emotions and periodically remind you of psychological wounds from beginning to end. Т_Т
Seeing Trakeena merge with Deviot was hella creepy but awesome, in terms of making her more obsessed with revenge & domination. Her personality & psychosis combining w/ Deviot changed her for the worst, physically & mentality. Driving her mad. Her physical changes: The demonic yellow eyes, the added tentacles in her hair, her more pale skin, the mechanical-robotic reverb in her voice, and Deviot's blaster on her arm. Her mentality changes: Becoming less reasonable & willing to compromise. Also being more ruthless & overly obsessed with destroying Leo & the rangers. P.S. She didn't have to sacrifice her stingwingers & kill Villaimax like that.
Lost Galaxy has one of the best endings in PR, where the Red Ranger puts everything he has on the line to stop the series villian, plus the Mega battle is a simple yet far more effective upgrade compared to what comes after which laiden with heavy CGI.
Great video, Lost Galaxy was always a favorite of mine. Trakeena's overall transformation from the beginning of the season to the end is just remarkable. She was such a highly developed villain.
:) I personally like Lost Galaxy as well and fortunately despite the production issues throughout the season (such as there not being a Lost Galaxy till the second to last story arc) Saban was still able to produce a great series. :)

I love how you go through and analyze and go deep into the Rangers their character and the seasons themes and the season overall it is so interesting hearing your analysis on all of this as a Power Ranger fan who never really thought about these topics at least maybe not this deep because it's been so long since I've seen these shows and as a kid you just don't really think about stuff like this will it's really great to hear your analysis because now as an adult it makes the season and the characters so much more cohesive everything makes sense as far as character goes Lost Galaxy had probably the best character development and best character depth not just with the heroes but with the villains as well it is literally the opposite of what Samurai did in terms of how they develop their characters for both heroes and villains which as we all know was very poor but not as poor as Megaforce

This series of reviews has convinced me to go back and watch In Space(my favorite and last Power Rangers season) and Lost Galaxy(the season where I left PR). I'm kinda mad I spoiled the season for myself, but your passion for the two seasons kinda rekindled a fire for me. I'm almost 30 but I feel like the stories and characters in these two seasons really resonate with me, and funny enough, I think Power Rangers as a kid is what really got me into anime as a teen and young adult without even realizing it.
Lost Galaxy to this day remains one of my favorite seasons of Power Rangers (next to In Space, Time Force, Dino Thunder, SPD, and RPM) because of the concepts and themes it gives us and the character development of Trakeena is of course a highlight for me as she grows from a spoiled princess to a warrior queen to a crazed bloodthirsty lunatic bent on showing that she's the boss is WHY I love Lost Galaxy
Recently re-watched Linkara’s review of Lost Galaxy and was disappointed that his final take didn’t reflect my love for this season. This was a refreshing reminder of all the good this season did, and I am glad to have multiple sources to analytically remember such an important part of my childhood!
I enjoyed this. Especially toward the end. Been feeling down in the dumps but I guess perseverance and aiming to do better, to be more, without losing yourself is important as a driving force.

I agree with this video as well, Lost Galaxy was one of my favorite seasons too. I joked on the other video about the Astro Megaship and its lack of use and demise, because I really really did like that ship and consider its handling the only flaw I have issue with, BUT that did not take away enough for me not to end up liking Lost Galaxy. I'm just gonna miss it. A lot.

Leo is one of the greatest rangers ever. Yes. Leo is one of the best red rangers ever. The only dudes I’d put ahead of him are Andros (he’s the goat to me) and Wes. I plan on rewatching space through time force again here soon.

Another element of sacrifice comes in the form of how much the rangers sacrifice to take out Trakeena. They throw everything they have at her to wear her down, sacrificing weapon after weapon just to weaken her enough to land what they hope can be a killing blow.
You know I'm starting to want Power Rangers moved from Nickelodeon to the CW. To be more serious like past seasons. Because since the move to Nickelodeon, the shows been underwhelming and disappointing. And that's the nicest way I can put it

@@kermanbizzlebop8895 the 100 was perfect(except for the last 2 episodes). A Power Rangers season that has the character development, drama and action of the 100 is a sure fire way to breathe life back into Power Rangers and possibly rival In Space/Lost Galaxy on a narrative level.
I know Modern Power Rangers would never do this, but I'd love it if just to change up the format and add some super interesting character development, the Power Rangers have to start dealing with (and losing to) real world problems OUTSIDE of them being PR or having to deal with other extraterrestrial beings. Like, in the middle of the season, one of the Power Rangers gets hit by a car and dies. Like, no heroic sacrifice, no buildup, just a regular human death that has duck all to do with aliens, and for the rest of the season the other power rangers have to deal with that. Or, one of the PR has a pipe burst in their house, and they have to move in with their Aunt two states away till it's fixed. Or, one of them is a collage student who joined the military, and they're called to deport for the first time JUST as the alien battle is getting serious. If they choose to stay, they'll help the PR, but become a criminal in the eyes of the US government. OR, one or more of the PR think regular human criminals are secretly aliens and end up seriously injuring them, gaining the group unwanted and powerful HUMAN enemies who could kill the PR WAY more easily than any alien, considering they know who to look for and how to kill humans. IT COULD TOTALLY WORK THE OTHER WAY TOO!!! Like, some aliens, looking to attack the Power Rangers, get shot in an altercation with a regular human, and it gets so much media attention that it becomes a 'thing' to try to capture and kill "monsters" when you see them. Or a human looking alien trying to trick the PR could break a human law TOTALLY BY ACCIDENT and legitimately be arrested and put on trial for their crimes. They try to break out but end up being successfully reprimanded again after having killed two officers, and are now sentenced to life without parole. They go to a maximum security prison with legit crazy serial killers and have to try to survive (surprisingly to them) one of the most miserable and dangerous situations they've ever been in. Heck, ONE LITTLE GIRL could end up capturing a knocked out alien and you could have a whole plot line with that! There's so much potential, but a lot of it would probably seem to "adult" to the people making the show.
Great review, this season was one of my favorites as well! I've recently wondered how a romance between Leo and Trakeena would have factored into the mix. He and Trakeena had some interesting chemistry in the episode where they fought on the desert planet, and he did show some mild resistance in destroying her in the finale. He never got with anyone in the season, and was supposed to hook up with Kendrix before her actress had to be written out due to medical reasons. And I think some type of romance would have added to this season. I'm not sure if one has even ever been done between a ranger and a villain (could be wrong though). Any opinions?
There was zero chemistry between Leo and Trakeena. Not to say that Leo didnt find her attractive. As Damon and Leo shared the same opinion that Trakeena was pretty damn hot. As for Leo hesitating to kill her point blank, thats not too uncommen. Leo doesn't take pleasure in killing/destroying someone. But definitely no chemistry.

Magna Defender has the potential to be Power Rangers’ Boba Fett. Or in other words, an awesome character with a cool design that inspires an entire planet full of awesome characters with cool designs.
You mention how awesome it is that Karone had to overcome her evil nature as Astronema to become a great Ranger. I find this amusing because I ran into Melody Perkins at Power Morphicon a while back, and I asked her, did she enjoy playing Astronema or the Pink Ranger more? She said "Astronema, definitely!"
I also assumed that her life force was somehow tied to the Saber, and when the saber returned to the stone, it regained enough power to revive a soul once thought lost, just as it revived Mirinoi as a planet. What's still weird to me though is how Mirinoi's plant life kept growing even after Furio's stone sword trick.
On an interesting note, Magna Defender's Gun/Sword/Sheath was so awesome, they recycled the idea. They made it a staple of the central three rangers of Ninja Storm. No, seriously, the three central characters Shane, Tori, and Dustin, all have that sword/gun thing. Same with the retractable visor from Light Speed Rescue. I wonder why that was a good idea.

Oh I'll definitely discuss what happened with Megaforce in due time, but I wanted to spread a bit of Ranger goodness before jumping back into the tar pit, so to speak. Time Force is definitely a thematic video I want to make because it has some similar emotional beats to Lost Galaxy, heck even Leo and Wes are somewhat similar, so it would be interesting to discuss.
I kind of like to compare Stanton with Commander Riker. It’s like Stanton is the full on leader that Riker May have become had we seen him be an official captain (Wolf359 aside as that was just a glimpse at Riker) Stanton just has that similar attitude

I don't know if I'm the only one, but as I was rewatching this season I realized that the whole space colony thing doesn't make sense right after an alien invasion. Just think about it, Earth was invaded and almost enslaved by aliens and a few months later the people use their resources to build a space colony and explore the universe instead of rebuilding Earth after the invasion and reinforce its defences for future threats in case the Power Rangers aren't around? Also, months after these people were almost enslaved by aliens they willingly get into the colony to meet more aliens? I mean the sensical thing for these people after what they've been through for the last 6 years is to stay away from anything space-related not jump right into it. Lightspeed Rescue for me is the natural followup to In Space, with people using their resources along with old Ranger tech to rebuild everything that Astronema destroyed and prepare themselves for future threats by creating their own team of Power Rangers. Then again Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue could possibly take place at the same time, and if that's the case then I'm cool.
Excellent video. Being an old school fan of Mighty Morphin', watching your videos on the seasons that I never grew up on is making me itch to watch them. Although I have to admit, as a fan of Starship Troopers, seeing the use of the Starship Troopers Mobile Infantry armor and BDUs in 'Lost Galaxy' is a bit distracing for me as I find the Mobile Infrantry armor to be one of the iconic elements to the original Starship Troopers movie (and to a lesser extend, the two live action sequels that followed). But then again, I do find it a bit distracting in any show or movie when I see a recycled prop or costume, like the Hammerhead cockpits from 'Space: Above and Beyond' that appeared in 'Power Rangers in Space'. Funny enough I actually own a Mobile Infantry jacket and a set of pants, so I guess I somewhat have a little bit of Rangers history there too.
You just described why this is my #1 favourite season of power rangers because while in space and MMPR were great seasons they never dove into the possibility of sacrificing themselves to save the world and by sacrificing literally killing themselves for a bunch of innocent people zordon andros and zhane were the only ones in my opinion who were willing to kill themselves to save everyone (feel free to counteract my argument which I’m pretty sure you will) but here a lot sacrificed they’re lives to save everyone mike sacrificed himself to save everyone on mironi, magna defender sacrificed his life to save the colony from his mistake, Kendrix destroyed the savage sword and killed herself to save Cassie and the colony, mike once again sacrificed himself and torozord to open the portal long enough for terra venture to get out, and Leo shot trakeena at point blank range to save the entire colony and made sure trakenna would never hurt anyone again
Lost Galaxy was my first season as a kid I was aware of the previous Seasons but lost galaxy was the first one that I ever really watched as a kid thank God
I had to come back to say that Mia isn't an alien by the way. Pretty sure she is human, it's just a human colony on that particular planet, and that particular colony wasn't very advanced, but human I thought. Much like Andros being a human, and him being from a different planet then earth. I may be wrong but was always under the impression she was human.

I loved power rangers as a kid because it didn't treat me like an infant and the acting wasn't forcefully cheesy, it felt natural and they actually put real effort into what they did.

After reading about how insane the production of this show was (Seriously, look it up.), it's kind of astounding they made something this great out of it. Kudos, this was a great video.
Yeah, the behind the scenes was pretty crazy for this one. It reminded me of all those stories you here about backstage movie drama, but all the tension and uncertainty helped make the finished product that much better.
Can't believe I never thought about the fact that the evil aliens in this were bugs and how the soldiers had the star ship trooper gear on lol
I'm glad that Lost Galaxy is getting the respect it deserves. It's my favorite season too and this video made me love it even more.
The themes I got from it was not letting the past define you and how the different ways to deal with death either through revenge (Magna Defender, Trakeena), moving forwards (Rangers and Trakeena to a degree) and keeping mementos of said person (Magna Powers for Mike, Staff for Trakeena, Dog Tags for Leo, Quasar Saber for Karone).
Now that I think about it; this season had more character deaths than any other season and unintentionally made it as one of it's main themes. People die on either side of the war. Pretty powerful for a kids show.
This season kicks ass and I appreciate finding another fan who seems to love it more than I.

Good observation with the keeping mementos part! With every sacrifice, even Loyax', there was something to remember them by that either still stands today or was carried forward by one of the characters.
I didn't really consider Loyax as that was more a memorial than a memento but I guess it still qualifies. LG was one of those seasons who had production issues but it was those production issues that ultimately made the series memorable and complex!
After Loyax's death his sword is placed in the ground becoming a cross grave marker. The episode ends with Maya and the rest of the Rangers walking into the sunset. The dying light of the sun is silhouetted against the Rangers and the grave. It's a good shot especially for Power Rangers.
The series was a massive tone change in my opinion. It was funny yet dark. Something I liked

Doing these videos makes me realize that I should also do a major update on my top 10 Ranger seasons. My original video criminally underrated In Space and Time Force and I think they should both be top 5 honestly.
Kendrix dying because Valerie Vernon had leukemia was heartbreaking, but it did open the door for Karone to become the new Pink Ranger, completing her redemption arc. It was also very cool of Saban to keep giving her credit so she could get paid as well as covering the cost of her treatment. Trakeena is my third-favorite big bad behind Ransik and Astronema/Karone. The story of the Magna Defender is generally sad and dark, but it was a great way for the series to grow up along with the fans.
Good insight. This is a series you would want to watch as an adult again, cause as a kid; you'd never even look twice at these complex themes.

This was a truly worthy successor to Space, and ranks as my second favorite season of Power Rangers of all time.
After rewatching Lost Galaxy, my favorite character from that series was Damon. He was true and courageous and always did the right thing.
This series... it made me cry. It was fun, but it knew when to tug at the heart strings. Just everything was beautiful.

Such an amazing season in the PR universe. Holds up and gets real that modern seasons lack due to adhering to a bit of a younger audience. It was a crazy change up that paid off very well.
Leo's face after the planet gets "frozen over" has a mix of pain, anger, and sadness on it. He just lost his brother and wants revenge, but at the same time, he doesn't believe he's worthy of his power. Great acting.
Yeah, and he refused to believe that he was worthy of the power until Mike came back and INSISTED that the Quasar Saber was for Leo...
Kendricks's body was vaporized, her spirit went into the sword, & when they were put back into the stone, she was restored along with the planet & people. That makes the most sense.
I only ever saw (or knew about) Lost Galaxy thanks to the AMAZING crossover with Lightspeed Rescue. As a kid, owning the VHS with the episodes was a delightful experience, & introduced me to the Power Rangers series (when it was good).

I still love this story and I will always have an opinion and love for the power rangers. for better or worse I'm glad their here to stay. good series or bad I'll keep watching.

Damn after talking to so many fans of the series I've never heard someone convey the same love for lost galaxy as I. This was an amazing and well thought out video!
Just to avoid future nitpickers, the RPM in Power Rangers RPM stands for "Racing Performance Machines"; it wasn't brought up at all in the show. It was said in blurbs on Bandai's website.
Wow, did not realize that at all, lol,. I was taking High School physics when RPM came out, realized the acronym was similar to rev per min, and never thought twice about it.
Lost Galaxy is easily my favorite season for a few reasons:
- Leo is the greatest red ranger and his story was so captivating
-Magna Defender is my favorite 6th ranger (ally)
-Seeing a ranger die in battle, made the series much darker and serious
-As you mentioned before, a good amount of characters had redemption
-Trakeena was the first very creepy main villain
-Best theme song
Gamaliel Rios magna defender is a close second for me behind Merrick
Plus, the first official teamup ever, and it was the IN SPACE!!! The second that theme played I was like, 'YEAH!! LETS KICK SOME PSYCHO ASS!!'

Liked this season. Maya Kendrix and karone were my favorite characters. Hated that Kendrix sacrificed herself but glad karone stepped up to take her place. I felt maya had the most growth. Glad cerina Vincent is still acting.
If Valerie was healthy enough to stay on, Karone probably wouldn't have come aboard, and Power of Pink probably wouldn't exist, at least, not as is. It's both interesting and a little sad that real life circumstance forced Lost Galaxy's hand and probably made the season better as a result. Although for me, even though this is my favorite season, I would have traded the better season we got in a heartbeat if it meant that Val would never have to go through the scare that is leukemia.
I've heard the original plan before Val got sick was using the Dairanger uniforms for some "ancient rangers" summoned by the Galaxy Book.

Nicely done video. While I was not really a watcher of the older seasons of Power Rangers growing up, as I started with Lightspeed Rescue and then Wild Force, I still know the power Lost Galaxy holds in the fandom for so many brilliant characters. It's one of the reasons I enjoyed the show growing up; when they can make characters into role models. Lost Galaxy in particular gives various roles. The feeling of isolation, discrimination, as well as feeling like you do not belong are some of the themes I noticed in the show and the fact they were able to overcome and surpass is amazing.
Cannot wait for you to discuss RPM, as I heard it is pretty good but I'd still like to see your take on it.
Thank you for the kind words! And yeah, I too love it when superheroes can be more than just savers of the day. One of many reasons that Kendrix became my first and still biggest crush of any fictional character.
RPM will be a fun one to talk about, but this time I'll probably look to dive into one specific episode of it and discuss it more deeply before eventually going into an almost as lengthy thematic review for it and the other seasons.
Wow I never really watched the whole power ranger series but after watching your video, I am somewhat more informed about the series. This season kind of reminds me of star-trek in a way.

This season really demoted us that Power Rangers wasn't always a show for kids, really when we were kids we couldn't realize a lot of things that we can see when we grow up and that's why I'm proud to say that I grew up watching Power Rangers since Mighty Morphin and I'm not ashamed to say I still see them now that I'm 27
Mike's sacrifice is a thing that for many children became an first emotional trauma when they saw the Rangers for the first time. Especially for my sister, because at the time of viewing she had no idea what death was. 0.0
And even though he came back later, we were all terrified, just like Leo, that it would happen again.
My heart sank every time this Corbett did something suicidal. Especially at ep.18 when the monster almost pulled him into the ship and Leo screamed "Not this time!"

Seeing Trakeena merge with Deviot was hella creepy but awesome, in terms of making her more obsessed with revenge & domination.
Her personality & psychosis combining w/ Deviot changed her for the worst, physically & mentality. Driving her mad.
Her physical changes: The demonic yellow eyes, the added tentacles in her hair, her more pale skin, the mechanical-robotic reverb in her voice, and Deviot's blaster on her arm.
Her mentality changes: Becoming less reasonable & willing to compromise. Also being more ruthless & overly obsessed with destroying Leo & the rangers.
P.S. She didn't have to sacrifice her stingwingers & kill Villaimax like that.
The Return of The Magna Defender was my favorite episode, when I was young.
Lost Galaxy has one of the best endings in PR, where the Red Ranger puts everything he has on the line to stop the series villian, plus the Mega battle is a simple yet far more effective upgrade compared to what comes after which laiden with heavy CGI.

I love how you go through and analyze and go deep into the Rangers their character and the seasons themes and the season overall it is so interesting hearing your analysis on all of this as a Power Ranger fan who never really thought about these topics at least maybe not this deep because it's been so long since I've seen these shows and as a kid you just don't really think about stuff like this will it's really great to hear your analysis because now as an adult it makes the season and the characters so much more cohesive everything makes sense as far as character goes Lost Galaxy had probably the best character development and best character depth not just with the heroes but with the villains as well it is literally the opposite of what Samurai did in terms of how they develop their characters for both heroes and villains which as we all know was very poor but not as poor as Megaforce

This series of reviews has convinced me to go back and watch In Space(my favorite and last Power Rangers season) and Lost Galaxy(the season where I left PR). I'm kinda mad I spoiled the season for myself, but your passion for the two seasons kinda rekindled a fire for me. I'm almost 30 but I feel like the stories and characters in these two seasons really resonate with me, and funny enough, I think Power Rangers as a kid is what really got me into anime as a teen and young adult without even realizing it.

Lost Galaxy to this day remains one of my favorite seasons of Power Rangers (next to In Space, Time Force, Dino Thunder, SPD, and RPM) because of the concepts and themes it gives us and the character development of Trakeena is of course a highlight for me as she grows from a spoiled princess to a warrior queen to a crazed bloodthirsty lunatic bent on showing that she's the boss is WHY I love Lost Galaxy
Recently re-watched Linkara’s review of Lost Galaxy and was disappointed that his final take didn’t reflect my love for this season. This was a refreshing reminder of all the good this season did, and I am glad to have multiple sources to analytically remember such an important part of my childhood!

I agree with this video as well, Lost Galaxy was one of my favorite seasons too. I joked on the other video about the Astro Megaship and its lack of use and demise, because I really really did like that ship and consider its handling the only flaw I have issue with, BUT that did not take away enough for me not to end up liking Lost Galaxy. I'm just gonna miss it. A lot.

Another element of sacrifice comes in the form of how much the rangers sacrifice to take out Trakeena. They throw everything they have at her to wear her down, sacrificing weapon after weapon just to weaken her enough to land what they hope can be a killing blow.
You know I'm starting to want Power Rangers moved from Nickelodeon to the CW. To be more serious like past seasons. Because since the move to Nickelodeon, the shows been underwhelming and disappointing. And that's the nicest way I can put it

@@kermanbizzlebop8895 the 100 was perfect(except for the last 2 episodes). A Power Rangers season that has the character development, drama and action of the 100 is a sure fire way to breathe life back into Power Rangers and possibly rival In Space/Lost Galaxy on a narrative level.
I know Modern Power Rangers would never do this, but I'd love it if just to change up the format and add some super interesting character development, the Power Rangers have to start dealing with (and losing to) real world problems OUTSIDE of them being PR or having to deal with other extraterrestrial beings. Like, in the middle of the season, one of the Power Rangers gets hit by a car and dies. Like, no heroic sacrifice, no buildup, just a regular human death that has duck all to do with aliens, and for the rest of the season the other power rangers have to deal with that. Or, one of the PR has a pipe burst in their house, and they have to move in with their Aunt two states away till it's fixed. Or, one of them is a collage student who joined the military, and they're called to deport for the first time JUST as the alien battle is getting serious. If they choose to stay, they'll help the PR, but become a criminal in the eyes of the US government. OR, one or more of the PR think regular human criminals are secretly aliens and end up seriously injuring them, gaining the group unwanted and powerful HUMAN enemies who could kill the PR WAY more easily than any alien, considering they know who to look for and how to kill humans. IT COULD TOTALLY WORK THE OTHER WAY TOO!!! Like, some aliens, looking to attack the Power Rangers, get shot in an altercation with a regular human, and it gets so much media attention that it becomes a 'thing' to try to capture and kill "monsters" when you see them. Or a human looking alien trying to trick the PR could break a human law TOTALLY BY ACCIDENT and legitimately be arrested and put on trial for their crimes. They try to break out but end up being successfully reprimanded again after having killed two officers, and are now sentenced to life without parole. They go to a maximum security prison with legit crazy serial killers and have to try to survive (surprisingly to them) one of the most miserable and dangerous situations they've ever been in. Heck, ONE LITTLE GIRL could end up capturing a knocked out alien and you could have a whole plot line with that! There's so much potential, but a lot of it would probably seem to "adult" to the people making the show.
Great review, this season was one of my favorites as well! I've recently wondered how a romance between Leo and Trakeena would have factored into the mix. He and Trakeena had some interesting chemistry in the episode where they fought on the desert planet, and he did show some mild resistance in destroying her in the finale. He never got with anyone in the season, and was supposed to hook up with Kendrix before her actress had to be written out due to medical reasons. And I think some type of romance would have added to this season. I'm not sure if one has even ever been done between a ranger and a villain (could be wrong though). Any opinions?
There was zero chemistry between Leo and Trakeena. Not to say that Leo didnt find her attractive. As Damon and Leo shared the same opinion that Trakeena was pretty damn hot. As for Leo hesitating to kill her point blank, thats not too uncommen. Leo doesn't take pleasure in killing/destroying someone. But definitely no chemistry.

Magna Defender has the potential to be Power Rangers’ Boba Fett. Or in other words, an awesome character with a cool design that inspires an entire planet full of awesome characters with cool designs.
You mention how awesome it is that Karone had to overcome her evil nature as Astronema to become a great Ranger. I find this amusing because I ran into Melody Perkins at Power Morphicon a while back, and I asked her, did she enjoy playing Astronema or the Pink Ranger more? She said "Astronema, definitely!"

I also assumed that her life force was somehow tied to the Saber, and when the saber returned to the stone, it regained enough power to revive a soul once thought lost, just as it revived Mirinoi as a planet. What's still weird to me though is how Mirinoi's plant life kept growing even after Furio's stone sword trick.

On an interesting note, Magna Defender's Gun/Sword/Sheath was so awesome, they recycled the idea. They made it a staple of the central three rangers of Ninja Storm. No, seriously, the three central characters Shane, Tori, and Dustin, all have that sword/gun thing. Same with the retractable visor from Light Speed Rescue. I wonder why that was a good idea.

Oh I'll definitely discuss what happened with Megaforce in due time, but I wanted to spread a bit of Ranger goodness before jumping back into the tar pit, so to speak. Time Force is definitely a thematic video I want to make because it has some similar emotional beats to Lost Galaxy, heck even Leo and Wes are somewhat similar, so it would be interesting to discuss.
I kind of like to compare Stanton with Commander Riker. It’s like Stanton is the full on leader that Riker May have become had we seen him be an official captain (Wolf359 aside as that was just a glimpse at Riker) Stanton just has that similar attitude

That's an interesting idea you pose. It could be fun, trying to piece together all the scattered details of the Grid.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but as I was rewatching this season I realized that the whole space colony thing doesn't make sense right after an alien invasion. Just think about it, Earth was invaded and almost enslaved by aliens and a few months later the people use their resources to build a space colony and explore the universe instead of rebuilding Earth after the invasion and reinforce its defences for future threats in case the Power Rangers aren't around? Also, months after these people were almost enslaved by aliens they willingly get into the colony to meet more aliens? I mean the sensical thing for these people after what they've been through for the last 6 years is to stay away from anything space-related not jump right into it. Lightspeed Rescue for me is the natural followup to In Space, with people using their resources along with old Ranger tech to rebuild everything that Astronema destroyed and prepare themselves for future threats by creating their own team of Power Rangers. Then again Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue could possibly take place at the same time, and if that's the case then I'm cool.
Excellent video. Being an old school fan of Mighty Morphin', watching your videos on the seasons that I never grew up on is making me itch to watch them.
Although I have to admit, as a fan of Starship Troopers, seeing the use of the Starship Troopers Mobile Infantry armor and BDUs in 'Lost Galaxy' is a bit distracing for me as I find the Mobile Infrantry armor to be one of the iconic elements to the original Starship Troopers movie (and to a lesser extend, the two live action sequels that followed). But then again, I do find it a bit distracting in any show or movie when I see a recycled prop or costume, like the Hammerhead cockpits from 'Space: Above and Beyond' that appeared in 'Power Rangers in Space'.
Funny enough I actually own a Mobile Infantry jacket and a set of pants, so I guess I somewhat have a little bit of Rangers history there too.

You just described why this is my #1 favourite season of power rangers because while in space and MMPR were great seasons they never dove into the possibility of sacrificing themselves to save the world and by sacrificing literally killing themselves for a bunch of innocent people zordon andros and zhane were the only ones in my opinion who were willing to kill themselves to save everyone (feel free to counteract my argument which I’m pretty sure you will) but here a lot sacrificed they’re lives to save everyone mike sacrificed himself to save everyone on mironi, magna defender sacrificed his life to save the colony from his mistake, Kendrix destroyed the savage sword and killed herself to save Cassie and the colony, mike once again sacrificed himself and torozord to open the portal long enough for terra venture to get out, and Leo shot trakeena at point blank range to save the entire colony and made sure trakenna would never hurt anyone again
Lost Galaxy was my first season as a kid I was aware of the previous Seasons but lost galaxy was the first one that I ever really watched as a kid thank God

I had to come back to say that Mia isn't an alien by the way. Pretty sure she is human, it's just a human colony on that particular planet, and that particular colony wasn't very advanced, but human I thought. Much like Andros being a human, and him being from a different planet then earth. I may be wrong but was always under the impression she was human.
Yeah agreed. She's more akin to a outsider in a foreign land.
