About 10-15 min. After fire is out...coals will turn from black,to Grey with a little ash,red hot and ready to cook...I rub a ½ sliced 🍋 lemon over grill rack Than a folded paper towel wet,((not soaked just dampened)) with cooking oil ((I use with corn oil) & rub it on the rack B4 putting meat down.((prevents sticking))
I just bought this grill at Walmart for $19.97! I'm going to throw my other one out that I bought years ago in 2011. One day I'll invest in a big propane grill when I have a house , but for now I'm going to keep a cheap charcoal grill.
You want to make sure your pile is as close together and stacked as high as you can so it builds enough heat to actually light the charcoal and get coals. Probably not a bad idea to get some lighter fluid and spray on there Before you light either.
I'll reply again if it happens this summer, either way happy grilling and go info is priceless in where everything is so expensive when it comes to recreational activities 👍

SUPER HELPFUL! Now I'm not so frightened to use my grill for the 1st time.
You can do it!
Once meat is on, do you leave vents open while q'n?
thanks for taking the time on this video. very good. I've never used charcoal before. I always used gas. much appreciated
I still prefer the temperature control you get with gas
@@ajgunter8932 I do to but the food taste better with charcoal. I live alone so the gas was always faster.

Nice! Mine lasted for 2 years before it rusted out. Probably would've been longer but I left it outside and it got rained and snowed on.
@@ajgunter8932 I left mines out in the rain and snow for all those years too, but I cleaned it all the time.
so you don't put the lid down until the flame goes out?
right, the lighter fluid in the bricks needs to burn off
@@ajgunter8932 thank you so much.
open all vents while cooking right?
The only issue I have with it is keeping it lit long enough... I have this same grill and matchlight charcoals. I guess I am doing something wrong.

Never had that to happen but I know it happens when we get a poorly made batch
Once meat is on, do you leave the vents open or halfway while q'n?
Depends how hot the coals are at the time, i usually adjust as needed
Yeah using those are the best just 1 match and Wooshka!!
What did you cook on it
I believe it was chicken this time.
I have a Walmart grill to I loveit
Does this charcoal give the smoke any different kind of smell that impacts the flavor?
Yeah there is a more smokey taste than with gas.
Use matchlight as chimney starter and put your flavored wood, chips or flavored charcoal of choice on top and call it good 🤗
Have you cooked ribs on that grill?
Never got the chance to b4 it broke
Yes
I'm still nerves about using mine ughh
That’s a Walmart grill and it’s excellen5
What charcoal is that
Either kingsford or an off brand
How long do you wait for the flame to lessen so you can use it?
Wait till the flame burns itself out and just the coals are hot
If you have offset grill put your meat on immediately 😎
@@iwinzeazy Yeah, for that great chemical taste... SMH

Why the fuck is my shit not lighting
Yeah must be doing something wrong cuz mine won’t light at all
If it's matchlight it might have dried out. If it's not matchlight you need lighter fluid
@@ajgunter8932 Yeah was matchlight and I didn’t know you had to light immediately but figure would be some kind of flame. I was getting nothing
It’s the exact same charcoal as yours
Did you leave the bag open? They'll dry out if you do
The fact that your wiping your hands on your shorts is annoying. But thanks for the video
Lol thats the weirdest critique ive ever heard, but thanks
Grilling for Dummies

So sensual
i didnt see you use lighter fluid
Those are instant light coals
They are pre covered in lighter fluid
Clean the BBQ, looks so dirty
