Just got done binging your sleep token vids and so far on my list of ranking. TNDNBTG is at 11, I love it especially how its connected to the last song of the last album while it is the first song of the first album. The offering is at number 6. I love the melody to this song and I've always interpreted it as another heartbroken love song the melody to the lyrics "my arms belong aroung you" kills me every time. Dark sgins is a 12 for me. I like the melody and instruments especially when it picks up and lyrically I really enjoy it too. Higher is a 10. Once again great lyrics and melodies and amazing guitars. I know my list is going to shift around a lot.... it already had multiple times now but at least I know what songs will definitely be top 5. Can't wait till we get to Take me back to eden! That's when my list will definitely be shifting around the most
Ooohhhh I love your list, especially your interpretation of The Offering.
I'm also very curious how your list is going to shift once we get to Eden or even Tomb. I know it's going to have a dramatic impact on mine. That's why I'm trying to save space in my top 10. It's going to be a wild ride.
In all honesty I haven't listened to all of the songs from Tomb. I really enjoy watching reactors listening to the music cause it's almost like watching it with a mate that has the same music taste. Either way i'm excited to see how the rest of your lists will go. @@angryroads

Ok so, much like Levitate, this song is coming from Sleep! Here's why I think so:

You are killing me slow - (Sleep pointing her finger at Vessel; after her realization during "Levitate" that he doesn't actually need her, her paranoia is getting the better of her. During "Dark Signs", he realized how much more broken and worse off he is now after Sleep, so he's now flipped the tables on her and is giving Sleep the cold shoulder. She is the 'fire', the "love and passion" that he so desperately seeks, and he's 'dry as bone, taking his time, killing her slow'... classic narcissistic behavior. This verse hits very close to home for me because of how reminiscent those words are for me... "Look at all I have done for you, and I'm getting nothing in return!")

Than the debt that I owe - (Again, classic narcissist Sleep... Now she's pointing out how he's not as innocent as he thinks he is. He has hurt her as much as she has him. If anything, when she leaves him during the day, he should realize all that he's missing out on when he's not in her domain of night... she's given him more than he even deserves, and it's payback time)

And we are exhausted by all this pretending
We just can't resist the violence
And you need a melody

But each time we battle
The blood and the fury takes us a little higher - (This beautifully paints how they love on different spectrums; she looks for scarlet - blood sacrifices - and doesn't need his melodies, he looks for ultraviolet - bond beyond the visible wavelength, i.e. romantic love - and craves her words of affirmation. They're both sick and tired of pretending now, and the only form of love they know how to give one another is by tearing at each other... very toxic. She's thriving on his own blood now, and in turn, his bond to her is elevating him too.)

But you're now on your own - (Despite him vowing his faith to her, he still isn't truly accepting her, 'sheltering' her. He knows she's no good for him and is trying to distance himself, but she threatens him here as well; kind of like, "you've bit the only hand that even wanted fed you, now here's the whip... and nobody will help you")
And I hate

At me when I am not understood

Than the debt that I owe - (Again, he's no longer looking at her as a deity to revere, but one to despise. They just aren't clicking like they did when they first met, and he loathes her for continuing to use him for his bidding without giving him what he craves. She's still claiming that despite his own beliefs and desires to be met, she's actually giving him more than he really deserves.)

The debt that I owe x6 - (This repeated verse getting increasingly loud is her emphasis on how she's actually the one who's given, and he's still expecting more from her. Kind of like, "Oh, you think I'M the one that owes YOU?? You must be out of your godd*mn mind!!!" A mockery, if you will)
Anyway, that's my deep dive and stretch of a theory! Love the work you guys are putting out here

Hello again, really enjoying this series and hearing your interpretations.
I feel that scarlet refers to blood whilst ultraviolet light waves are invisible to the human eye. She’s not there (like an apparition) and he’s battling with himself again. Torturing himself with the memories of when they fought when she was still alive.

Wow. My guy, that's such a beautiful take on it. He's still always looking for the blood even though she's passed on. I think you're onto something. Do you think the albums are all about the same person or distinct people? Like is he still talking about this person in The Apparition or is this just a classic ST lyric throwback.

@@angryroads There’s so much to try and tie together it’s difficult to establish a coherent narrative throughout the discography.
We know Vessel is “perpetually tormented” from the initial Lore and it’s about the dreams and nightmares of the subconscious mind.
Death features prominently throughout, right from the beginning Fields of Elation includes the line “like death, in motion”. Death in motion sounds like a car crash, and there are several more illusions to it culminating with Euclid and “if my fate is a bad collision”.
He’s desperately trying to find her (“I’ll reach for you on faith alone”) but loses his sense of identity as a consequence of the loss and trauma. This is illustrated in the Sundowning cover, which shows Vessel’s shadow.
He reaches the lowest depths on earth on This Place Will Become Your Tomb (Missing Limbs depth marker: 10,924m) with the album exploring a failed suicide attempt.
His desperate search to reach her sees him trying to ascend to heaven on Take Me Back to Eden. Yet the album ends with him finding himself right back where he started from at the beginning of Sundowning (“I know for the last time, you will not be mine”.)
Well that was a bit of a splurge. Please forgive the indulgence. Of course, this interpretation could be entirely wrong!

That's...just wow. Dave and I spent a bunch of time exploring all the concepts of your indulgence. We think you're onto something here!
I think that's the true beauty of the band. We'll never know what Vessel truly intended, but each person gets to build their own theory.
Tomb definitely feels like, to me, the detailing of a failed suicide attempt. It's so full of dispair.
"Death in motion" is a brilliant way to say "car crash". So clever that you picked that out.
I hadn't noticed the shadow of the Sundowning cover, but now I totally see it!

Thank you Sussan. The attention to detail in Sleep Token’s music and art is remarkable. There are so many things I’ve missed before finally noticing or having them pointed out to me.
DYWTYLM was a breakthrough song for me as it’s clear he’s singing about himself.
When he uses ‘you’ he could be referring to ‘Sleep’ (deity), a significant other (her) or himself. It’s like a “choose your own adventure” story!
I still have so many questions but I guess that’s all part of the fun.

Ya know although I liked it, at first this song was very “whatever” for me. Then I had a dream about this song and essentially got a music video for the song in my dreams. That dream helped me appreciate the song even more for whatever reason. Never had this experience with any song in my life lol.

the chick I don't get, she clearily goes into anything that's not "pop" with the expectations of hating it, so idek why bother
figures though, pop genre is one of the most soulless and talentless garbage in music (I'd say the genre is even an insult to music in general)
It's not that I hate the song. I don't. It's just not one that I particularly enjoy. Surely there are tracks you don't like? That's the beauty of the band - there are songs that resonate with me and there are songs that resonate with Dave 😊.

@@angryroads none so far, which is quite rare for me to like 100% of the bands output. I just don't get going into something new with a negative mindset to begin with. I get that there are tastes and not liking something is completely fine. But not every song has to be jumpy and something to dance to. Immersing yourself into the meaning and feeling from time to time wouldn't hurt, as a pattern cleanser from all the pop garbage.
That's really awesome you have found a band you have dug 💯 of the track list! There are very few I don't like, but I would say the band lives on a spectrum for most people. I think that's one of the best parts of the band! - Dave
