The 1967 Ford GT40 MkIV is a more longtail style approach on the iconic GT40 lineage, and is one of three cars which you'll need to attain a PSN trophy in GT7. But with a higher weight than its Jaguar and Ferrari rivals, and a larger capacity 'muscle car' approach to its performance, is it good enough to compete with them, albeit with a much more affordable price tag than it had in both GT6 and GT SPORT? Let's head out to Le Mans to find out!

A bit of really cool history behind the Mk IV. The car was so dominant that during the night, Gurney had eased off a little to preserve his car, and Parkes came up behind in the second-place Ferrari to unlap himself. For several miles Parkes hounded the Ford, flashing his lights in Gurney's mirrors until an exasperated Gurney simply pulled over at Arnage corner and stopped on a grass verge. Parkes stopped behind him, and the two race leaders sat there in the dark, motionless. Finally, Parkes conceded his attempt at provoking a race with Gurney was not going to work and he pulled out and resumed the race, with Gurney following shortly after.
Another amusing story behind the Mk IV (and the GT40 Mk II before it): Carroll Shelby tasked his team with finding the lightest off-the-shelf small circular taillights to put on the car. The winning taillight donor was...the first generation Chevrolet Corvair. Yes kids, Ford's first two wins at Le Mans, the second one coming with an all-American team with two American Ford factory drivers, happened with Chevy parts...
@@tomanderson6335 That would explain why that's the one element of the gt's design that's generic and unattractive at least.
And caught him, passed him and together with AJ Foyt won the race 🏁
I use this car all the time for the 700PP LM. Very fitting, very easy race. I even use the Racing Manual Trans for the extra noises on shifts and so I can run a little higher power.

It really is cool that all three of these contemporaries and rivals (well, would-have-been rivals if the Jag had actually raced) have been in multiple GT games now. Would be even cooler if they add the Chaparral 2F at some point to make it a foursome.

When i used to do tokyo wtc600, before the nerf, this car was the one who gave the best times from the classic racing cars. It was, by order, markIV, xjr13, 917k, 330p4, a220 (non glitched)
The Mk IV is one of my main choices for the 700PP LeMans event. I have the Focus RS, Mk I, MK IV, Daytona Coupe, 330 P4, 917K, C4 Vette, 2016 GT GT3, Z4 GT3, DBR9 GT3, F1 GT3, and AMG GT3 as my rotation for the 700 PP LeMan race and its funny that it is easiest in all the 50 year old machines. Really looking forward to seeing what the 250 GTO can do in the event.
You should give the Pagani Zonda R a try, that car feels like cheating. I also love to use the XJ13 for that event.

I want to get the GT40 model car, but I don't like the idea of not getting it all at once.
I love this car with a good circuit tune!! The only disappointment is that they made the fuel consumption more like a road car than a race car. Unless they fixed it, the last time I took it to WTC 700 Le Man I only got 3 laps on fuel map 6

Now that I have all 3 legends, I want the Ford GT40 Racecar, isn’t that the Mk2? But it’s not in the game, suppose I could buy the non Racecar and modify it, but wouldn’t the Racecar have much better specs?
You know how you said about adding all those duplicates in one update, add the GT40 race car as well. Along with all the other duplicates, not just Skylines, Imprezas and Lancers.
i havent seen a model building weekly kit in over a decade. i used to see them in magazines and always wanted to start a subscription to build one but never got to. the one question i always wondered though is how long does it take to get everything and whats the cost?
the fast track says 12 months to complete and seems to be £110 per month while the standard version will take 2 years and cost £55 per month if i understand right?
those costs add up really quick looking at it but i might be wrong.

@@HSGAutomotive this is from the page i was looking at it says "5 assembly stages for £10.99 each stage" i was reading this section and it was throwing me off.
it reads like you get 5 stages and each costs £10.99. while in my eyes it feels like it should be 5 stages for £10.99? thats what i assumed at least but it reads oddly to me.
im completely unfamiliar with this so i might be reading too much into the wording.
@@HSGAutomotive i looked into it a little more and it seems like you can do 1 assembly pack per month and up to 5 if you want. i think it works out around £1100 in total to do the model. it has 110 stages and its costing £11 per stage.
Nah I don't think so. Its monthly and no one would build a kit over 110 months, lol. Parts one and two are already the entire front clamshell and front right wheel after all. But I'm not certain, could be wrong
@@HSGAutomotive it says in the FAQ "The Ford GT model is complete in 110 assembly stages (parts to build and magazines)." if it was 11 months and it was costing about £150 id jump straight in. i wonder is the 110 is a misprint that seems like a lot of stages.
