One of my favourite depictions of hell, this one. No fire, no sulfur, no satan,... Just actual horror and claustrophobia in complete darkness. Way scarier in my opinion!
And they made it seem like hell is just your guilt (sins) coming to get you in physical form. Zed saw his little boy in there and he knew who it was but didn't say anything, and the boy wasn't even dead, it was just his guit.
Yep I didn't know that at first and thats why I would never go cave hunting especially in the catacombs not even for a billion dollars I'm good if I go n I won't be able to spend it 😂😂😭
Dantes Inferno with Egyptian influence. Anubis being in the last part of the movie (the ninth circle of hell) who is the guide to the underworld. Cool stuff
The kiss had nothing to do with bringing the dude back, it was just something she did. Scarlett herself is now the stone, that’s what the mirror was meant to show. The movie itself is greatly inspired by Dante’s Inferno, which would mean they are traveling through the circles of hell. Can’t remember where I saw it but the figure sitting in that chair near the end is supposed to be Satan in the 9th Circle.
Even if she's the stone it still didn't make sense that George survived that. He definitely would've bled out from having his neck ripped open. And Scarlett already mentioned when it came to Souxie that it didn't have the power to bring back the dead. I really liked the movie, but I had basically the same reaction as Caitlin when it came to that particularly scene. They should've pulled the trigger on his death and found another way to show that she's the stone, or at least not made his injury one that wouldn't have resulted in him bleeding out.
Not just that..."As above so below" is a Freemason/Masonic thing. That's why there is a huge 'pool' of water in front of the Washington Monument. (the obelisk thing)
So about the kiss: it's wrapped up in alchemy, hermeticism, spirituality, but the gist is that the stone also represents the purification and elightenment of the human soul. 29:57 no but honestly it all actually makes sense (to the lore of everything including dante’s inferno, as above so below, the stone, and in more general, alchemy, hermeticism, spirituality, and the process of rectification). scarlett initiates the journey of initially seeking the stone through rectification (she is seeking atonement for her guilt regarding her father’s death), but also in the mythos regarding “as above, so below”. in other words, if she believes herself to be free from sin, guilt, pain, anguish, etc. and atoned for her “sin” regarding her father’s death, she will be. it also reflects her personal journey for the stone: if she believes the stone to be real, so it is. this is mirrored twice in when she says “what is within me is outside of me”, “as i believe the world to be, so it is”. it’s also similar to the story/background of the door on the ceiling that they find (porta alchemica, the door to the mystical). in all of the symbology that they’re using in this film, scarlett’s story is more than just finding the stone. the entire story is about rectification and atonement. she seeks the stone, finds the stone, finds hell, travels through the levels of hell, and atones for her sin. all of it is the process of professing to ones’ sin, the sin guiding ones’ journey, and either allowing transformation or refusing to move forward. as above so below is exactly why papillon is stuck upside-down in the sand (“punishment is burial up to your neck in sand”) (he was punished for his sin, but not up to his head, up to his feet) (not to mention ones’ head and brain has been and is in some cultures believed to be the key to the mystical). i cannot sing enough praise about this film. so i hope that one little scene didn’t ruin it for you.

Yes the idea is that they travelled through a realm which inspired Dante's inferno. In other words what people imagine when they hear the word hell. The words above the tunnel which disappeared are referring to Dante's inferno. "The power is in you" is a cliche but the point was that she had proven herself worthy of the power by making the discovery... also a bit of a cliche but cliche's aren't bad when presented well and waking up a neo-esc power like she did is pretty cool.

The main girl from As above so below starred in Penny Dreadful Last season. She was badass in it too. I watched the movie some time before the last season of the show and when she popped up I had to google if it was really her cause I couldn't believe. I recommend Penny Dreadful to everyone it's my favorite tv show of all time. It's full of turns. Starts slows and is kinda poetic in a way but it's worth the ride. Eva green is the protagonist she is a hell of an actress. Her best performance to date is her portrayal of Vanessa Ives in the show. There is witches vampires and werewolves and lots of blood on the show. It's a thriller. Inspired by old horror booklets sold for a penny known as Penny Dreadful
Perdita Weeks' roles aren't super similar, but still are? Because she's always some great butt-kicker in media not necessarily about that kind of thing
I really wanted to love that show, Eva Green is stupidly good in it, Josh Hartnet is cool, fucking Timothy Dalton, and so many more great performances.. But I could just never connect with the actual story. Also really disliked the actor portraying Victor Frankenstein, he just irked me. And the whole Frankenstein story line was meh to me. I started S3 but never finished it. So weird how so many things should absolutely connect for me, the style, the actors, the overal vibe, but I just... didn't really like it, even though I kinda wanted to.
@@denniswijker7162 To me it is perfect (maybe not Victor's storyline) They were setting up a more grand pathway for him. Sadly it got canceled and it ended up in a rush. But the Vanessa storyline I was satisfied cause to me the ending that it had, was the only possible way for her to be free. I did read the comics, it's not bad and I like how it continues the storyline but I wish it was the series still going on not just comics. Still my favorite show of all time and to me the best Eva performance of her career.
YES! Hell House LLC is so solid & creepy. I’ve had it in my rotation for a while. I’m also a big fan of “Haunt” but that u fortunately doesn’t fit into the found footage genre
If you want the kind of like supernatural horror with exploration similar to As Above So Below, there's the movie Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, a bunch of Korean streamers going to a haunted asylum.
I like 1/2 of this movie very very much. The idea of having to face your trauma and sins as you go through the layers of hell to find peace and escape is very interesting. Unfortunately the film strays away from that near the last half and the film turns into a generic “ghosts attacking the group and picking them off one by one”. If the group slowly died to not outside threats but their own sins I would give this film a 10/10.
They did die because their sins. Benji died because he abandoned his wife/girlfriend and child (the woman with the baby who pushed him) to pursue the fame that would’ve come from discovering the stone. Souxie was killed by La Toupe as a punishment for a violent crime she committed in the past. Papillon was killed because he lit a car on fire not knowing his friend was inside the car, and he didn’t confess what he did, leading him to be pulled into the flames by that very same friend. Their refusal to confess their sins and repent - which is very clear with Papillion - is what resulted in their deaths
my fav movie ! the part w/ the kiss is bc she rectified the stone so she acquired the healing ability, the mirror was there basically saying she is the stone now.
I love how they just don't die out like literally every horror/thriller ever. Also that telephone ringing was a call forward to her dad. & also love all the fake Ohh this gonna happen later, ain't it? 😂 Lovely movie. Also I think she is the stone now her only touching with her hands saves him the kiss is just extra. So if she lives forever now I would seriously would watch a sequel.
i really would like if you’d watch Skinamarink, it’s different vibe, i warn things happen slow too, but it’s a growing horror within, as much as you connect with, you get yourself thinking about it after and i really liked the ending i’m glad you reacted this movie cuz it’s one of my favorites in genre, i really like the way connects mythology, history and horror to introduce a real experience (cuz WTF bout that caveholes, never, i would never) oh, a P.S.: a really appreciator of your work, from Brazil ❤️🇧🇷

BUT I have a list: Lake Mungo The Tunnel Dabbe: The Possession The Taking of Deborah Logan The Visit Savage Land Dashcam All VHS ....but if you've done them don't worry I'll go back and watch them
Idk why but the bright contrast of the beige coat of the hanging father, compared to the dark tunnels there in is so chilling to me. Easily one of the most unsettling parts of the movie.
If you enjoyed this one, it's not as well done, but I suggest The Pyramid (2014)! It also has similar archeology, being trapped, but also horror. Great reaction BTW!
I was soooo looking forward to that movie, and I was thinking it would be similar to this movie, which I love, but the goofy looking CGI monsters ruined it for me. Same with the Devils Pass movie, which is about the famous Dyatlov Pass incident in Russia, the movie was really good, except for the ridiculous CGI monsters that ruined everything at the end.
Excellent reaction!! Honestly this is one of those movies that defy the binary rating system of rottentomatoes (which I still like), this movie got a 28% lol, but i wanted to watch it anyway expecting it to suck, but i was SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! This movie was so enjoyable! It played right into that fantasy of like exploring through the catacombs, claustrophobia, ancient hieroglyphy thingies and the scares were pretty good too! So I understand French (from Montreal) and understanding the things the other characters say when theyre freaking out gives this movie a whole other dimension, those other guys were REALLY good actors and the things they were screaming, very natural, at least for France french that is. But you dont need to know french to really enjoy it, as you've evidenced. Again great reaction, love love love your reactions, watching this was so perfect for the spooky weather going on today haha. I dont know if this is on your list, but in terms of found footage, you MUST watch "Hellhouse LLC" VERY VERY good found footage horror, among the best out there, VERY scary! Rottentomatoes should’ve been shut down years ago. Most the “bad” ratings they have on movies are beyond inaccurate, while at the same time give too good ratings on bad movies. Partly due to too many bots swarming the site giving fake ratings and reviews.

Thrilled you're enjoying this movie, love your reactions and comments, always very insightful. I might recommend JeruZalem (with a "Z"). It's also found footage and I found it quite entertaining. One of my favorite horror movies for it's representation of the Divine comedy by Dante. The movie works at a normal plane but tells a story where the characters travel through the 9 circles of hell on a second and subliminal level. I showed this movie to my 14 year old nephew and he ended up reading the book after I showed him an explanation video of the movie.

There is witches vampires and werewolves and lots of blood on the show. It's a thriller. Inspired by old horror booklets sold for a penny known as Penny Dreadful
Yeah she rocked her performance and she pretty 😊2
Was she Catriona in season 3?
YESSS u have no idea how happy i was when i went on letterboxd and saw u reviewed this movie 😭 i love this movie so much its insane
i was shocked to see how bad the majority of ratings are for this film, i think it's great!
YESSSSS, SHES BACK WITH ANOTHER FOUND FOOTAGE REACTION😤🙌
😌
When you said “Who would want that, sounds like hell” at 4:11… the crazy foreshadowing without even knowing it😂
This channel is the home of one of the best reaction videos. We look forward to see more.
thank you so much!
how did the piano end up underground
was the piano carried
@@johnrinella9267its on her mind
This movie and Hell House LLC are among my favorite found footage horror movies. Hell House is one of the few movies that genuinely scared me.
He'll house all of them the taking of Deborah Logan grave encounters the visit
Grave Encounters is also really good.
I’m not saying this movie is bad btw, it’s fantastic, I just wish they used their premise more
They did die because their sins.
That is all the sins of their past coming back around to judge them. It's a parallel to Dante's Inferno, not just a bunch of ghosts picking them off
my fav movie ! the part w/ the kiss is bc she rectified the stone so she acquired the healing ability, the mirror was there basically saying she is the stone now.
So if she lives forever now I would seriously would watch a sequel.
this is actually one of the best found-footage horrors ever
"...Cloverfield, which I watched as a child." Damn I feel old.
i really would like if you’d watch Skinamarink, it’s different vibe, i warn things happen slow too, but it’s a growing horror within, as much as you connect with, you get yourself thinking about it after and i really liked the ending
i’m glad you reacted this movie cuz it’s one of my favorites in genre, i really like the way connects mythology, history and horror to introduce a real experience (cuz WTF bout that caveholes, never, i would never)
oh, a P.S.: a really appreciator of your work, from Brazil ❤️🇧🇷
Oooo a Skinamarink reaction would be so fun
I couldn't get through it. Too dam slow. I tried and I love slow stuff
Oh my gosh! Thank you for watching this! I mentioned it on your Next of Kin video, I believe! I absolutely love this film!
you should definitely see the VHS franchise, the movies are horror anthologies with all the stories in found footage
OMG im so excited for this i didnt even know you were gonna react. this is one of the scariest movies ive seen
this film is terrifying, imagine being in hell and when you get out you are in FRANCE filled with french "people"💀. i would stay down there.
I can’t get over how adorable you are. Thank you for your content. It makes these movies better.
The Borderlands aka Final Prayer is one you have to watch. Whether its by yourself or doing a reaction you will not guess how it ends. BUT I have a list:
Lake Mungo
The Tunnel
Dabbe: The Possession
The Taking of Deborah Logan
The Visit
Savage Land
Dashcam
All VHS ....but if you've done them don't worry I'll go back and watch them
This is one of my favorite found footage movies. Another one you should watch is The Taking of Deborah Logan.
He'll yeah that is a underrated Found footage film
If you love found footage, I definitely recommend rewatching Cloverfield! It's a great deconstruction of the Kaiju genre.
Great reaction BTW!
thank you so much ive been trying to find a similar movie!
Yeah that one got killed by the critics but honestly I thought it was really cool.
I dont know if youve ever heard of it, but if you haven't I ASSURE you you'll have an amazing time, so I hope you react to it, or put it on your list...etc. Again, great reaction!!
Typically happens with cult classics where it receives a bad review when it first comes out and then people realize how good it is later on
hellhouse llc!! I watched it on shudder recently and WOW it was fun
Rotten tomatoes suck ass. I never listen to their reviews
Rottentomatoes should’ve been shut down years ago. Most the “bad” ratings they have on movies are beyond inaccurate, while at the same time give too good ratings on bad movies. Partly due to too many bots swarming the site giving fake ratings and reviews.
Found footage recommendations: The Houses October Built, The Taking of Deborah Logan, Ghostwatch, Afflicted, Superhost, Searching, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
Been hoping you'd watch this!!!! One of my faves!!! 🥰
Next you gotta watch:.... ( ONLY based on what I've seen)
*The Visit (2015)
*Grave Encounters (2011)
*Hell House LLC (2015)
*Lake Mungo (2008)
*The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014)
*Unfriended (2015)
I love this movie. I've watched countless times and never expected you to react because honestly people either don't know about this film or maybe it doesn't fit the "horror" genre to make the reaction cut which is a shame. Kudos though. Thank you for the vid! ☺️☺️☺️
ahhh this was awesome ! Please watch Grave Encounters next! It's another really awesome found footage horror its one of my all time favorites!
This movie is in reference to Dante’s inferno where the only way to get out of hell is to go deeper in. And every layer of hell is being shown in this movie.
Also the reason he came back to life was because she was the philosopher stone
Well it's not actually a "sleeping beauty" moment, the 'kiss of life' excited in ancient tales and fables, so (even cheese and disney-y) it was a kinda right call for bring someone you love back to life
there's a real lesson to be learned in this movie. I love the ending! also... in hell love is like the hope that speaks with Miricles
I've been secretly manifesting your reaction to this movie for a very long time like I almost screamed when the notification showed up. This is easily one of my favorite horror movies, I love the whole idea and the way it represents hell and how unsettling and claustrophobic it feels. I'm so happy that you enjoyed it!
why not manifest something that has an actual impact on your life, instead of a content creator reacting to something lol?
@@adhirg 🐢💦
I asked for this a couple of times I am so ready to watch it. Btw the song that plays in the credits Hypsoline by La femme is a banger. I love that band
This is such a great movie! If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend "The Borderlands"; it's a found footage film with an absolutely insane ending, it's so good.
This was literally the scariest movie I’d ever seen when I first saw it and now I’m just marvel at the unique story
What truly defines hell for me is not being sure if you’re in it or not. A good example of this would be in movies like Stay (2005) or Jacob’s Ladder.
The Visit is one of the best I’ve ever watched. It is just wooo. REC 2 is really wild. Btw there are 4 REC films. The Gallows is… interesting.
Taking off Deb Logan is a pretty good one too and creep 1 AND 2
This is one of my favorite found footage horror movies. The lore of Dante’s Inferno is heavily implied as we make our way through the nine circles of hell.
There’s also another great found footage movie called Behind The Mask The Rise Of Leslie Vernon.
Whoa, where am I? I have sooo many reaction channels I follow, I literally don't think I can absorb another one. BUT THEN, this pops up in my feed and I finally see someone reacting to this freaking movie! Thank you for being the only person on TH-cam to acknowledge this one! Alright, god damn, subscribe I guess. 😆
i watched this randomly and i loved it so much. when i saw the popularity of it i was so happy cuz i thought its just a random horror movie that nobody knows which made me sad cuz its good
Best take on the transmutation of the soul in a while. It's my favorite.
Thrilled you're enjoying this movie, love your reactions and comments, always very insightful. I might recommend JeruZalem (with a "Z"). It's also found footage and I found it quite entertaining. Another you might consider is Afflicted. Both portray young Americans abroad who unwittingly find themselves in the middle of great supernatural danger.
This is one of the coolest movies despite some of its superdumb choices, lol. Always dig this one.
Also, your reactions are really fun to watch along with 😆
One of my favorite horror movies for it's representation of the Divine comedy by Dante. The movie works at a normal plane but tells a story where the characters travel through the 9 circles of hell on a second and subliminal level. I showed this movie to my 14 year old nephew and he ended up reading the book after I showed him an explanation video of the movie.
YESSSSSSSSS! Been waiting months for you to watch this. I knew you would enjoy it! Definitely one of the best found footage films.
Ben Feldman in The Perfect Man was chaotic and lovely
Love this movie, so loved to see you react to it. Just found you the other month and binged wantched a lot of your reaction videos. Love horror movies, hoping you're growing to love them too KEEP IT UP!!!
i watched this alone in our living room when i was 10 and this honestly one of my found footage faves
I love watching this over and over again. You pick up on things that you didn’t before. Did you recognize the lead actress? She played Catarina Hartigan in Penny Dreadful (it’s so good!!!) she’s like a true badass in that series.
Oh my god Caitlin I love you. I have watched, and continue to watch, many reactors, and I have yet to see a single one react to this movie. Easily one of my favorite horror movies.
just found your channel and i am so glad i did!!!
I watched this movie my freshman year of high school with some friends, I remember being confused after my first viewing but I’ve always enjoyed the movie!
There is one found footage movie called "the deep house" from 2021. Its basiclly a regular found footage movie but underwater, so thats cool
Thank God you uploaded this. I was sooooo bored, thank u, thank u 😘
I can't pin it down, but there's something so hauntingly good about this movie that it stays with you long after watching it... Similar feelings I had to The Gallow and Headcount... All great underrated films IMHO
Right? Pontypool did that for me, too.
So glad you watched this one! This is one of my favorite movies of all time, happy you had fun with it!!!
Bro this is seriously one of the fucking coolest movies out there. I loved this and have shown it to as many friends as I can. Great reaction!
One of my favorite found footage movies is “The Taking of Deborah Logan” OMG so good
The Houses October Built (2014) and The Bay (2012) are pretty underrated found footage. Also Hell House LLC (2015) and The Borderlands (2013) are hella scary
One of my favorite movies, it has absolute rewatch value- I always notice something new or catch onto a new sub plot.
Hell House LLC is a good found footage movie. I also recommend The Sacrament, it’s sort of a Jonestown-inspired found footage movie.
Happy to see someone else unabashedly in love with found footage movies. This one is a complete banger and the female protagonist is goals 😍
I really enjoy your commentary, I usually hate these type of videos but you know how to idk it’s genuine
This is my favorite movie and I’m so happy this just graced my feed!!!
We explored an old cave where I grew up, it was the same things where you’d have to crawl and there were rooms full of water. Nutty Putty cave, closed and sealed after casualties.
I freaking love this movie it's one hell of a ride of a storyline this movie will flip you upside down and turn you back up you'll get this reference eventually❤😊 I love the ending watching people's reaction in their shock on their face to the end scene some of the deaths are kind of crazy looking it's a fun movie it's an interesting one I did see this one in theaters it was creepy as hell just see all the creepy noises in the caves❤ I'm glad you enjoyed the movie
Ben was also in Friday the 13th 2009. He was one of the guys who were looking for weed lol
I had a phase where I watched all found footage movies I could get. There are a lot! Keep it up👍
oh MY GOD im so excited u watched this movie one of my favs of all time
So so so excited for this one - will be a treat when I get home. ALSO just getting into the Folklore album and will be seeing your video about it soon. I love that you do horror reactions AND music reactions - we stan versatility ❤❤❤
Edit: your reaction was SO funny omgg
this movie is so goated. glad you reacted to this man
I, when I watched it, I was in summer vacation, on a sunday, alone in my room in a share house, no one else was in the house... I was alone... I don't know what devil took over me but I decided to watch it... I wasn't the same person for two days.
Ahhh!!! I loooove this movie, so excited to see your reaction
if you liked this film, i’m pretty sure you’d like The Outwaters (2023), it’s a very divisive film but i personally absolutely LOVED it, the story, the lore and the execution are just so amazing and it’s just some VERY fucked up movie in general. i can’t tell that you’ll 100% sure love it but i think it’s the kind of movie that you have to build your own opinion on so yeah, give it a try! oh also i forgot but it’s a found footage about hell too
I saw a new She's Scared upload. I clicked on it. I began watching. It wasn't until I get about 23 minutes in when I realize that it is currently 1:00am for me....
I just heard a little girl's voice outside my door. There is no-one under the age of 24 in my house.
This is fine.
