Most Hollywood movies don't come close to this quality. I don't think I've seen a better romance in years ( and I'm 73!). Congradulations to everone involved. Please, enter it in next years Oscars!

He was truly a dolt. They could not have chosen a less aware and inquisitive subject... but I guess that's the point. Just wish they had had a little more intelligent dialogue. Where is that dude's curiosity and intellect?

Watched it twice. Fell head over heels for Rebecca both times and wept at the end both times. Was so sad for both of them.. A powerful and moving portrayal!
Ok I admit that this movie touched something inside of me that I didn't know existed. It made me have tears in my eyes even though I was taught that men don't cry when I was growing up. It had a beautiful ending.
@@carlosidelone8064 I just saw Amelia 2.0. It's really hard to change anyone's opinions with cartoonish, two-dimensional pontifications about politics and religion. The transhumanistic core story is absolutely thought-provoking, as good sci-fi should be, but the simplistic preaching is way too distracting. I'm just gonna ruminate on the feels A Week With Rebecca just induced.
The ending broke me a bit. Almost came to tears. She was truly more human then many I know for sure. I’ve grown attached to her as well by the end, love this story. Well done.
Easiest upvote of my life. This falls on the category of "people that did this should have millions upon millions of dollars of budget to make more movies, as they are far better than anything Hollywood has pumped out in many many years". And no. I wasnt happy at first it was a 30m video and it wasnt short, but was I less happy in the end as it felt too short and I wanted it to go on. Amazing job.
The problem with Hollywood is yes they will give you that money but then they have a committee offering "improvements". These movies may not have a large budget but they are truer to the vision of the director and writers. They won't add woke content or that goofy friend because the studio wants it to be "Funnier" for some reason. Not all this stuff is good but it at least is not tainted. Good or bad its their vision.
The acting in Dust is as good as any other, the stories are short but sweet, personally I find watching is better than many big budget productions. No matter how hard, it is better to have loved and lost, it's the happy time that make them live on in our soul, and it's the sadness that loses them forever, happy times. Thank you everyone involved with Dust.
What makes this film so unique and special is the (inevitable) closure to it's story line. Yet, still with some clever reveals. So first, this actress was brilliant. I think we all fell in love a little bit with Rebecca. Where a lot of sci-fi shorts love to leave open ended and very ambiguous endings, this film did close it's story line in a satisfactory manner, and although a tragic ending, also left with a ray of hope. I appreciated that. And even though yes technically a sci-fi film, this film was far more about love. Just such a beautiful film, I could gush on and on about how great it was, but suffice to say I truly enjoyed it, and this story will stick with me for a long time. Well done.
Very well said. I felt the exact same way about this film. AND, after several subsequent viewings, the beauty and depth of this piece still touch my heart!
Being a person that can "fall in love" with just about anything, I can very much relate to this movie. My heart aches when I throw away old slippers I wore for two years, but if "an object" would be so human like with an AI taught to love me, a piece of me would probably die, too. We just have to start asking ourselves serious questions as this future is not that far away.
@@heru-deshet359 If I tilt my head to one side, there's an intuition of radial force coming from the center of the Earth. It's like the Earth is trying to be like the parent, the Sun, and the child is reaching and striving in need and love, and acceptance. Just like the horizontally set eyes the descriptors of life, consciousness and soul are bias for gain. Really, all is out there isn't it?
Being a similar person this movie really resonated with my current situation. I have spent the last 16 years caring for my love who has been dying slowly from her own genetic enzyme (Huntington's Disease). She is still trapped in that failing body and unfortunately there is no USB drive to download her to.
Bang on mate if they could make this then they shouldn't..too much heartache and too cruel could you imagine how some of them would be treated by some of us.. Nice thought but just wrong.
That actress is superb! I'm 72, been reading scifi since the early 1960s. I have always been entranced by actors using just their eyes and facial features to portray thier emotions & feelings. This actress nailed this video and character. This was a very good video. The writing is 1st rate. Thank you for such an exciting and fresh story.

Holly crap! Am I the only full grown man who cried watching this? WOW!!!! The two main characters were acted to perfection! The directing was AAA Hollywood level and the sound, set designs, costumes, even the damn clock had a slight to the story. THIS, THIS is film making! Just WOW! Bravo 👏
I have to admit this one both was joyous to watch and hurt. I won't bother with the reasons why....I'm sure anyone reading this would figure it out anyway. But what a great piece of video proof to the saying "Tis better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all."

As someone who through disease longs for the touch and conversation with another, this was very heartwarming. I dream of this. Even though I still love my wife who is in the late stages of MS. Maybe if I could transfer her into a Rebecca. I can dream.

Truly sorry Steve, and believe me when I say I understand. Cancer took my wife four years ago. It's a hard thing to come to grips with. A divorce you can make some kind of sense of. Some reason for it. Been through one of those. This you cannot. Or I can't anyway. You don't stop loving them, they're just... gone. And not a damned thing you can do to fix it or change it. It's not something you ever really get over, just something you learn to live with.
Oh gee! This video made me get misty but then I just read your comment and that did it! I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I hope that at some time going forward in your life that you can find another love that can make you feel great like the one you have now.
About your wife, mine passed away three years ago. I’m praying for you. This film was very good but I’d have added five more minutes to the ending. I guess the writer was dealing with actual human nature, not our dreams and hopes.
I lost my Robbie to MS on August 20th, 2014. We both knew it was inevitable, but somehow we must go on. She was no Rebecca, but there were similarities. The cooking, the stubbornness, the unavoidable end. I will always miss her, but I must go on. RIP Robyn.
Dust nailed this one, loved it. So good to see a good short from dust now and then. more like this please and the quality and storyline are directed perfectly. My rating for this one is 10/10.
Well if you read....dust doesn't make ANY films. They simply post awesome videos on their channel. They don't create anything they simply share it. Still awesome but yeah, dust doesn't create content.

@@nobody7817 I’m sorry you don’t recognize an ambiguous ending vs a “proof of concept” video which screams for an entire story. Based on your logic, we can expand out and wonder what happens to the company. Do they successfully launch the new generation? What happens to Rebecca 2.0 after the salesman dies? Does she try to have her own Android made? These wonderings can continue forever.
@@nobody7817 Initially, I did agree with you. But you are being very condescending, when it's only a comment on how this ending is satisfying despite being kind of a cliffhanger. Sure, no work of art is ever "complete"; it's just the artist that stops. But some artists stop before the art gets really good, and this commenter presumably believes the artist stopped only after the (nearest) high point. If this short were to become a miniseries, it would take several chapters to get something this good again. You see? It's not that the commenter "can't think".
I approve of the ending that actually makes sense. As soon we're told that she's going to "die", I was immediately asking why the generated-data portions of her couldn't be copied to a new body. The idea that a person has to end with their body is a human one, not a machine one. We transplant files, settings, entire operating systems from one computer to another all the time. The fact that she *made a backup* is an obvious solution to their problem.
I agree...I only want to add that the fact she made a backup indicates a survival instinct(1) and that she does this because she falls in love(2). advanced "programming" indeed...
By far the most emotionally sci fi I have ever had the pleasure of watching! Hopefully the maker will get Hollwood backing for a feature length science fiction movie.Congratulations to Martin Sen and Matthew Marder, for creativity and directing two actors who really put the quality in this "dust" short film(wish it was full feature!) Also production team the best.(actors Nika Burnett[excellent;really made all guys want a Rebecca wife] and Phil Kruse-maybe you will do sequel?
Dust’s picks get better and better. Beautiful story and acting. Loved the ending. We knew it was going to happen but that little glimmer of being reunited was heart warming.
Great video. Good grief 62 yo ex-Navy, biker guy, tears in my eyes at the end. 😂 that’s when you know you’ve created a great video that consumes the viewer with emotions. Top shelf in my book.

@@mxferox There’s a deep desire in all of us to find the right partner. We never give up this hope. And: During the lockdown we can’t meet more than one person. We lost a lot of people. People are dying. It’s a very lonely life. Our wish to find the right partner is even stronger now.
despite the few inconsistencies (like the like of the main engineer in the board’s meeting), this movies is the perfect concretisation of most men’s dream. The scenario, acting and images are all magnificent and enhance the whole story. For me, it’s a piece of art. Thank you so much.
I was once taught that the purpose of art is to make us FEEL something. This was ART in the most basic of senses. Brilliantly done. When the sorrow of losing a relationship, even with an artificial lifeform, brings you to tears, you know your craft. I wonder if a sequel to this would be pushing it; think about it, it could work.
WOW! Absolutely wonderful. Both emotional and beautiful. Story is touching, very logical and relatable. Acting is incredible for the two key actors. Rest of cast was fine but less. "Rebecca" played perfectly. I loved this. ❤ Great work.
Yeah, she was brilliant! She has her own channel. I've seen a few things on there. I've also seen her in a short called "B.E." on Alter, (a channel connected to Dust, but it does horror shorts). Last I checked, "B.E." was unlisted. I have it saved in a private playlist though, so I have the video link & I could share it! 😁
This movie brought tears to my eyes. "A Week With Rebecca" is beyond great. After all is said and done....... love, is love no matter what. 🌺 No matter what. 🧕
That was magnificent !! I'm almost 60 and I've seen hundreds of robot movies --- AND THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST !!!! Please tell me there's going to be a Sequel !!
Ignore the slightly awkward 'company meeting' beginning & you'll find yourself swept away by the main two protagonists and their sublime performances. Wonderful.
I liked how you tackled the possible first response rejection of the audience, & how they might be drawn in by the lead characters by their performance.
This movie was PERFECT! A story about love and the question of what makes us "human". Both lead actors Phil and Nika did an incredible job in making me believe. I will admit my eyes turned to glass at the end, but thank you Matthew Marder and Marcus Shenn for at least giving us hope. :)
On the surface, the ending was emotional. Thinking a bit deeper, it was scary; manipulating him really well to survive. After all, since she is only a trained robot, the love shown is just a perfectly simulated output as opposed to actual feelings on her end.
I mean, our emotions are just chemicals that fire off as a way to encourage us to behave in a ways to ensure our survival. So how is it all that different?
@@rumpeltyltskyn it's different because we actually feel things, we experience life, we're conscious. The robot would not do any of those things... it would simulate it perfectly, to the point where it wouldn't be possible for you to tell the difference. But in reality it doesn't feel things, even though it would be trained to act like it does through its output (and to convince you that it's true). Now... the question is, what happens if you mix biology with AI? For example, getting a real human body with a wiped out brain, and transferring a super AI into it instead. I don't know if that would be possible, but I'm thinking that something like that might be the only way for it to truly feel (beyond just an accurately simulated output) Some interesting things
felt the same, may be the last four days it was looking for a way to stop the enzyme but could not, and the drive was the best way to survive, although it knew the technology was not there yet.
@@rumpeltyltskyn yes, we could think of our emotions as just chemicals, but because of those emotions we do things that are not in our best interests, such as sacrificing our wants and needs for others. Robots will not do this unless they are programmed to do so. This is the difference between simulating emotions and truly feeling them. A psychopath is a good example of someone who simulates emotions without actually feeling them. both of them can mimic the external expressions of emotions, but they do not actually experience those emotions themselves.
In hollywoods defense they need to make it 2 hours i don’t remember why but this is basically just a Hollywood movie boiled down to the important scenes
To me the most interesting aspect of this film is not the love/relationship, but the idea of how far till something is not human and what is human. Like she clearly displayed her ability to make choices however they are based on preset information pathways. Still it is more interesting to me the way the film demonstrated and made some people think “what is human and is love as special as we are made to believe”.
Here's the thing; "love" (not physical attraction) is an attachment to someone or something because it/they add something to our lives that we can not get any other way. It doesn't really matter who or what it is, but after time, the thought of losing that added part of our life can be distressing, even emotionally unbearable. You can love your old faithful pick-up truck and feel just as distressed to find out the transmission is burnt up and not worth the expense to fix it, as you can feel about anything that adds to your life. As far as "pre-programed" responses; a true A.I. adjusts it's own programming to alter it's responses to be more appropriate to any given situation. If you think about it, a human does the exact same thing. As an infant, most of what we do is instinctive (pre-programmed) response. It takes several years of experiences for an infant to grasp it's own identity and begin exploring it's own independent thoughts - but it does - called "The Terrible Twos". The A.I. would have to be far more complex than anything we have today, but my guess is it's not as far away as we might think. If the "companion" could be built to your specifications; what you find most physically attractive, and it looks, smells and acts human, and has basic behaviors you find most appealing, NOT falling in love with it would be the unusual response.
Yeah so I'm ready for a sequel. I must say, that was Great. Everything from the opening to the storyline to the music. Especially the music... it helped create the atmosphere of emotion. I'm in my feelings now after watching this.
this is the best short film ive even seen in my miserable lonely life, if i were a rich financier i would throw anything at the producers of this short film to make a big budget blockbuster out of it, i think it would make millions in profits, spend say $30 million on a 2hr movie, im sure it would EASILY gross $300 million, easy. everyone would wanna see it
I've been reading and watching science fiction for more than 50 years, countless stories of Man meets AI, hates AI and then to no one's surprise, falls head over heels in love with AI - I knew where this was going to go - but I really didn't count on feeling it as well! Very well written and acted!
This needs a sequel. Great script and acting make this my all-time favorite for a short feature. The dialog from Rebecca was perfect from a male point of view. Could a male robot have the same perfection from a female point of view? Thanks for creating this. Keep it up.
Possibly yes. We're almost there now, in the near future the source code will be able to make this exactly like you said. You buy it the way you need it...
At the last moment, it looks like she takes a breath. 27:59. Surprise path to the sequel: she reprograms herself? Seems likely something like that'll happen in real life, perhaps within my lifetime. The AI singularity argument seems rather sound; haven't seen anyone present a serious, let alone strong, counter-argument.
As a very late comment that may never be reviewed, I'd like to say that this IS by FAR the best Dust film I have watched (and I have seen many!) Kudos on a great production, the filmography, the script, the acting everything was exceptionally well done. THANK YOU!
I've got an idea for a DUST episode! Check it: In a dystopian future where homogenous corporations have purchased, sanitized, repackaged, and uncreatively rebooted all our stories and myths, small independent creators break out and start their own studio, crafting great original content. Wait... that's every episode of DUST.
Wait, i have another idea... In the dystopian future, (almost) everyone is literally a faceless drone and its prohibited to show your face - direct social interaction is illegal, except via (surveilled) digital media. There is total mass media control of the masses, censorship everywhere and a allmighty police state together with big corporations suppresses every form of dissent - sometimes violently. There are no more civil rights and liberty and only people who have fully subjugated themselves to the system have some freedoms left, like shopping, travelling or going out. But it comes with a cost, to be able to participate its mandatory to get injected with an experimental, barely tested vaccine - with unforeseeable side effects... Moment, thats just our present.
It's hard to do sci-fi romance in a way that's not either very contrived, very sexist, or very shallow. You guys have managed to avoid all these traps and make a half hour short film that's more moving than most two hour Hollywood romances. Outstanding work!
It was somewhat predictable from the beginning. Yet somehow, it still managed to be have a few surprises. The two main characters really draw you in and take you along for the ride. This is not a new concept but, its retold here in a delightful way. Great job on this!
I dunno. If Rebecca is just software that can be transfered from one body to another, why doesn't that corporate stooge of a protagonist look into file saving her earlier? I know, because he's a self absorbed corporate stooge. No wonder he flies solo. Also corporate boardrooms of the future look like white supremacy, with the sole black dude doing all the actual work at the plantation, I mean the lab. 4/10 stars.

Anybody else annoyed that instead of putting the starfish back into the ocean, they 'kept' it, thereby killing it, while thinking this represents 'renewal'? oh the irony..... Otherwise, liked it so much, i want to see part two.!!!
Very well written dialog in the boardroom. Not easy to Convery different characters and their role in the business, with a ping pong of one liners while at the same time sketching the main plot of the story. The boardroom cast also delivered their lines naturally, helped by the dynamic docu type edit, to make the scene credible. Rarely I think of the script writers when watching something, but this was top notch. The rest of the dialog is also good: Lines are not written to explain the plot to the audience, story is told through the main characters interaction, the body language and what questions, the dialog is raising in the audience. This is really top class writing. Far higher ´level than the usual blockbuster.
A lovely film indeed. I was hypnotized almost instantly, and just flat out cried at the end. What a spectacular performance by Ms. Burnett! One of the best things DUST has ever presented. Thank you so much!
I didn't expect much. I've seen SF touch on this idea from different directions at least a half dozen times. Nothing in this is truly original . . . but I loved it. The delivery was excellent and it was a quality transhuman love story with an unexpected happy ending. Kudos and thank you for a film impeccably made.
Sometimes, you watch a story and you notice small production elements that detract from the artistic intent - even with Hollywood blockbusters. This however, was so beautifully engaging, and its love story flowed inside our hearts and souls. Thank you so much.
This was the saddest, most riveting 30 minute movie I've ever watched in my life bro. Really great job, had my heart strings all broken and stuff :( lol
I remember Dexter (from Dexter's Lab cartoon) created himself "incredibly lifelike" robo-mom, while the real one was sick, the first thing she told him - "go clean your room". He said "perhaps too lifelike" and adjusted some settings :)
Imagine wanting your sexbot to be so realistic that you'd give it spots and skin imperfections, then cover them with makeup. That's one way to prevent uncanny valley.
I don't have questions, but I want to say it's one of the most beautiful, touching movies of its kind I have ever seen and in stark contrast to all those bad robot movies that I have grown quite sick of.

You know, I didn't make that connection. But you bring it home. It's the same thing. Robots can live forever as long as they are repaired. Humans, not so much. If we create a replacement for humans, we need to be prepared to be replaced.
i did not expect to like this so much. at the end i weeped a little, and thats not that common with me. i really liked the male and female lead actors, something about the imperfections in their faces made them feel more real than alot of hollywood movies

The ending broke me a bit. Almost came to tears. She was truly more human then many I know for sure. I’ve grown attached to her as well by the end, love this story. Well done.

And no. I wasnt happy at first it was a 30m video and it wasnt short, but was I less happy in the end as it felt too short and I wanted it to go on. Amazing job.
The problem with Hollywood is yes they will give you that money but then they have a committee offering "improvements". These movies may not have a large budget but they are truer to the vision of the director and writers. They won't add woke content or that goofy friend because the studio wants it to be "Funnier" for some reason. Not all this stuff is good but it at least is not tainted. Good or bad its their vision.

The acting in Dust is as good as any other, the stories are short but sweet, personally I find watching is better than many big budget productions.
No matter how hard, it is better to have loved and lost, it's the happy time that make them live on in our soul, and it's the sadness that loses them forever, happy times.

What makes this film so unique and special is the (inevitable) closure to it's story line. Yet, still with some clever reveals. So first, this actress was brilliant. I think we all fell in love a little bit with Rebecca. Where a lot of sci-fi shorts love to leave open ended and very ambiguous endings, this film did close it's story line in a satisfactory manner, and although a tragic ending, also left with a ray of hope. I appreciated that. And even though yes technically a sci-fi film, this film was far more about love. Just such a beautiful film, I could gush on and on about how great it was, but suffice to say I truly enjoyed it, and this story will stick with me for a long time. Well done.

Being a person that can "fall in love" with just about anything, I can very much relate to this movie. My heart aches when I throw away old slippers I wore for two years, but if "an object" would be so human like with an AI taught to love me, a piece of me would probably die, too. We just have to start asking ourselves serious questions as this future is not that far away.

Being a similar person this movie really resonated with my current situation. I have spent the last 16 years caring for my love who has been dying slowly from her own genetic enzyme (Huntington's Disease). She is still trapped in that failing body and unfortunately there is no USB drive to download her to.

As someone who through disease longs for the touch and conversation with another, this was very heartwarming. I dream of this. Even though I still love my wife who is in the late stages of MS. Maybe if I could transfer her into a Rebecca. I can dream.

Truly sorry Steve, and believe me when I say I understand. Cancer took my wife four years ago. It's a hard thing to come to grips with. A divorce you can make some kind of sense of. Some reason for it. Been through one of those. This you cannot. Or I can't anyway. You don't stop loving them, they're just... gone. And not a damned thing you can do to fix it or change it. It's not something you ever really get over, just something you learn to live with.

About your wife, mine passed away three years ago. I’m praying for you. This film was very good but I’d have added five more minutes to the ending. I guess the writer was dealing with actual human nature, not our dreams and hopes.
I lost my Robbie to MS on August 20th, 2014. We both knew it was inevitable, but somehow we must go on. She was no Rebecca, but there were similarities. The cooking, the stubbornness, the unavoidable end. I will always miss her, but I must go on. RIP Robyn.

Sure, no work of art is ever "complete"; it's just the artist that stops. But some artists stop before the art gets really good, and this commenter presumably believes the artist stopped only after the (nearest) high point. If this short were to become a miniseries, it would take several chapters to get something this good again. You see? It's not that the commenter "can't think".
I approve of the ending that actually makes sense. As soon we're told that she's going to "die", I was immediately asking why the generated-data portions of her couldn't be copied to a new body. The idea that a person has to end with their body is a human one, not a machine one. We transplant files, settings, entire operating systems from one computer to another all the time. The fact that she *made a backup* is an obvious solution to their problem.

I was once taught that the purpose of art is to make us FEEL something. This was ART in the most basic of senses. Brilliantly done. When the sorrow of losing a relationship, even with an artificial lifeform, brings you to tears, you know your craft. I wonder if a sequel to this would be pushing it; think about it, it could work.

Ignore the slightly awkward 'company meeting' beginning & you'll find yourself swept away by the main two protagonists and their sublime performances. Wonderful.
I liked how you tackled the possible first response rejection of the audience, & how they might be drawn in by the lead characters by their performance.

This movie was PERFECT! A story about love and the question of what makes us "human". Both lead actors Phil and Nika did an incredible job in making me believe. I will admit my eyes turned to glass at the end, but thank you Matthew Marder and Marcus Shenn for at least giving us hope. :)
On the surface, the ending was emotional. Thinking a bit deeper, it was scary; manipulating him really well to survive. After all, since she is only a trained robot, the love shown is just a perfectly simulated output as opposed to actual feelings on her end.
I mean, our emotions are just chemicals that fire off as a way to encourage us to behave in a ways to ensure our survival. So how is it all that different?
@@rumpeltyltskyn it's different because we actually feel things, we experience life, we're conscious. The robot would not do any of those things... it would simulate it perfectly, to the point where it wouldn't be possible for you to tell the difference. But in reality it doesn't feel things, even though it would be trained to act like it does through its output (and to convince you that it's true).
Now... the question is, what happens if you mix biology with AI? For example, getting a real human body with a wiped out brain, and transferring a super AI into it instead. I don't know if that would be possible, but I'm thinking that something like that might be the only way for it to truly feel (beyond just an accurately simulated output)

A psychopath is a good example of someone who simulates emotions without actually feeling them. both of them can mimic the external expressions of emotions, but they do not actually experience those emotions themselves.

In hollywoods defense they need to make it 2 hours i don’t remember why but this is basically just a Hollywood movie boiled down to the important scenes
To me the most interesting aspect of this film is not the love/relationship, but the idea of how far till something is not human and what is human. Like she clearly displayed her ability to make choices however they are based on preset information pathways. Still it is more interesting to me the way the film demonstrated and made some people think “what is human and is love as special as we are made to believe”.
Here's the thing; "love" (not physical attraction) is an attachment to someone or something because it/they add something to our lives that we can not get any other way. It doesn't really matter who or what it is, but after time, the thought of losing that added part of our life can be distressing, even emotionally unbearable. You can love your old faithful pick-up truck and feel just as distressed to find out the transmission is burnt up and not worth the expense to fix it, as you can feel about anything that adds to your life.
As far as "pre-programed" responses; a true A.I. adjusts it's own programming to alter it's responses to be more appropriate to any given situation. If you think about it, a human does the exact same thing. As an infant, most of what we do is instinctive (pre-programmed) response. It takes several years of experiences for an infant to grasp it's own identity and begin exploring it's own independent thoughts - but it does - called "The Terrible Twos". The A.I. would have to be far more complex than anything we have today, but my guess is it's not as far away as we might think. If the "companion" could be built to your specifications; what you find most physically attractive, and it looks, smells and acts human, and has basic behaviors you find most appealing, NOT falling in love with it would be the unusual response.

Yeah so I'm ready for a sequel. I must say, that was Great. Everything from the opening to the storyline to the music. Especially the music... it helped create the atmosphere of emotion. I'm in my feelings now after watching this.

I've been reading and watching science fiction for more than 50 years, countless stories of Man meets AI, hates AI and then to no one's surprise, falls head over heels in love with AI - I knew where this was going to go - but I really didn't count on feeling it as well! Very well written and acted!

In the dystopian future, (almost) everyone is literally a faceless drone and its prohibited to show your face - direct social interaction is illegal, except via (surveilled) digital media. There is total mass media control of the masses, censorship everywhere and a allmighty police state together with big corporations suppresses every form of dissent - sometimes violently. There are no more civil rights and liberty and only people who have fully subjugated themselves to the system have some freedoms left, like shopping, travelling or going out. But it comes with a cost, to be able to participate its mandatory to get injected with an experimental, barely tested vaccine - with unforeseeable side effects... Moment, thats just our present.

It's hard to do sci-fi romance in a way that's not either very contrived, very sexist, or very shallow. You guys have managed to avoid all these traps and make a half hour short film that's more moving than most two hour Hollywood romances. Outstanding work!

It was somewhat predictable from the beginning. Yet somehow, it still managed to be have a few surprises. The two main characters really draw you in and take you along for the ride. This is not a new concept but, its retold here in a delightful way. Great job on this!
I dunno. If Rebecca is just software that can be transfered from one body to another, why doesn't that corporate stooge of a protagonist look into file saving her earlier? I know, because he's a self absorbed corporate stooge. No wonder he flies solo. Also corporate boardrooms of the future look like white supremacy, with the sole black dude doing all the actual work at the plantation, I mean the lab. 4/10 stars.

Very well written dialog in the boardroom. Not easy to Convery different characters and their role in the business, with a ping pong of one liners while at the same time sketching the main plot of the story. The boardroom cast also delivered their lines naturally, helped by the dynamic docu type edit, to make the scene credible. Rarely I think of the script writers when watching something, but this was top notch. The rest of the dialog is also good: Lines are not written to explain the plot to the audience, story is told through the main characters interaction, the body language and what questions, the dialog is raising in the audience. This is really top class writing. Far higher ´level than the usual blockbuster.
“More human than human.” This is a reference to Bladerunner.

I didn't expect much. I've seen SF touch on this idea from different directions at least a half dozen times. Nothing in this is truly original . . . but I loved it. The delivery was excellent and it was a quality transhuman love story with an unexpected happy ending. Kudos and thank you for a film impeccably made.
Sometimes, you watch a story and you notice small production elements that detract from the artistic intent - even with Hollywood blockbusters. This however, was so beautifully engaging, and its love story flowed inside our hearts and souls. Thank you so much.

i did not expect to like this so much. at the end i weeped a little, and thats not that common with me. i really liked the male and female lead actors, something about the imperfections in their faces made them feel more real than alot of hollywood movies
Whatever, I was hoping for a twist period like Benton and the board tested him with an actress pretending to be a robot.
That was Oscar worthy!
