Hi, thanks for the tutorial. What 16mm extended socket are you using for the spark plugs? I have tried a standard one, as well as a thin walled one. Both cant get the spark plug as the hole gets too thin.
Hi! Great video! I am flying down to Cpt this weekend to pick up a 2006 R1200GSA and would like to change the oil before I fly back up. Where do you think one can get a tool to remove the oil filler plug in Cpt? And do you think Midas or Autozone will have that oil filter wrench? Thanks!
😎 the tool is 76mm, with 12 flutes. I believe I got it at Midas. Any spares shop could have it. I had to search a bit to find the one that works, so 76mm and 12 flutes. BMW will sell you one too $$$, and a few bike shop will have them. Good luck
I like your video, reading my manual book says 0.5 L oil to replace, however I saw you had a 4L dunk, how much oil did you replace on your filter and oil change as it looks so little 0.5 on the book 📚
Hi, i used between 3.5 litres and 4.0 litres of oil including the oil filter. I first filled the oil filer (+-300ml) and then put in about 3 litres. Then i ran the bike and rode it and then topped up the rest. I would say between 3.5l-4.0l of oil including spillage ;-)
Hi Cobus, in Cape Town, i got the spares from Wicked Cycles in Paarden Eiland. Also from Trac Mac, and then from the agents, BMW Motorrad. They will sell you spares
For start up purposes. So you’re not starting the bike “dry”, because you’ve drained all the oil out of the sump. A little oil in the filter gets lubrication going.
@@taicoproductions it is stupid)) what to do if the filter is on the side?) first - the engine is still lubricated with old oil second - the fact is that the filter has a bypass valve third - it is easier for air to pass through a dry filter
Never do a cold oil change. Ensure the engine is warm and heat is tolerable. This will ensure maximum oil is drained.
Awesome tutorial

O.5l is the difference between minimum and maximum in the sight glass, a full oil and filter change should be a round 4l
Why not 20W50 oil? i feel onl 20W50 oil
why not 15W50?
can i ask you if you Do you need to fill 4 liters of oil? or less.

Is that oil filter wrench the same that is needed for a 2007?
I believe it is. I have an '06 and i believe its the same. I think in '09 it might have changed
What’s the torque spec for the drain plug?
23Nm
Oil filter is 11 nm not 25 !!!
German torque specs, good 'n tight.
Why are you pouring oil into the filter?))
