Two things: 1. You get rekt by the actually experienced players you fight at the BRs of these high-top tier premiums and maybe regret your purchase and stop playing 2. 3. Maps you love at low tier because you can see everything and everything has meh pen at distance you hate at high tier because you're continually pinned in spawn with trash team mates.... Looking at you USA mains.
Bought the xm1 a couple years ago, got the m901 in my squad, working on the m1a1aim still grinding the tech tree, almost there. Once I have an 8.0 lineup, I’m using my top tier premiums. Had to learn the game mechanics
@@handzze7341 haha yeah I'm not the greatest but I still can get 3+ kills per spawn but it usually goes, get 2-3 kills then get killed by CAS to realise my entire team has either rage quit after 1 spawn or the majority have already rushed and died 2-3 times and quit while I'm left with a couple of others that don't run head first into glass doors 🤣
On sight lines: "Low ground" is your friend. Especially on large maps, you want to hit trenches, river beds or what ever terrain does surround you with hills, walls and so on. These allow you to leave the "usual suspect" areas that will be watched by any remotely experienced player in the game, which includes those who hit those "low ground" path to get unexpected angles. If you just hit "the good spot" you lost the advantage of surprise, while being on every enemy's mind => If not super specialized for sniper duels, you will be knocked out easily. If you want a general idea how to identify a good spot (aside obvious flanking): If possible, it should be close to the center at an angle to an objective, should allow you to completely disappear from enemy fire, allow you to reposition left and right to some degree and should have a shallow slope, which allows to quickly run up, fire at what you saw in your binoculars, and dive back. This last point is especially important for playing any NATO tank, as it maximizes your reverse speed advantage. If you happened to buy the Leopard 2A4, for example, the shallow slope play style will make you a menace on open grass/desert maps.
Basic tips as someone who has bought top tier as a lower tiered player and have gotten good at it 1. Always scan surroundings Use thermals to check on how many "Things" are nearby 2. Know common weakspots Here are the ones you must know T-series Russian and ZTZ series China Shoot between gun and ERA, there is no composite there (Shoot between the 0 and the | Abrams shoot slightly below the cheeks { _] 0 [_ } (Shoot under the dashes) Leopard Do not shoot the turret, aim for LFP 0< }> [----------------] (shoot below the dashes) *Warning*: Swedish leopard STRV 122 has much stronger hull armor The Type 10/TKX/Type 90 series has a similar shape, but has much less armor (Do lookout for it's 4 second reload however) 3. Ammo management Most tanks have a ready rack to fill out, if not an autoloader Check the War thunder Wiki and see how much is safe to bring Always bring Highest penning APFSDS shell first, then take ATGMs *much fewer, most tanks don't have this however) Bringing HEAT-FS IS NOT recommended unless it is your only choice, it has much less damage and is more janky to hit 4. DO NOT hesitate A slow reaction time is a dead tank regardless of what happens Barring rare times where shots can be missed, most shots that hit you will kill you Be mindful of how much you are visible, and do your best to only pop out of cover to take shots 5. Binoculars and Commander sight Binos are crucial in mid tiers, but are less useful at top tier Commander sight is a gimmick, don't waste a bind on it Generally, neither get thermals, barring more specially equipped tanks such as the CV90105 and the 2S38 6. Shooting on the move Stabilizers at top tier mean shots can be taken accurately any time This is a strength you have, but so does your enemy Even with this, always stop or slow before taking shots, as your tanks momentum can throw shots off-course *ALWAYS RANGEFIND YOUR SHOTS* please just do it 7. Know your enemy You can know your tank down to the last millimeter of armor thickness but more importantly Learn your enemies Many nations in RB at the BR will generally be seen on one side or the other However it does not mean you shouldn't study their weaknesses and strengths too Some quick knowledge to help you start T-series: Strong ERA against HEAT, autoloaded, but has dense weak spot clusters, and shots will usually 1 hit knock out Type-90/10: Watch out for their 4 second reload Abrams: Turret cheeks are impenetrable by most means 8. The only reason I bought some high tier premiums is so that I can have a fighting chance against my friend who litrally can't handle losing to anyone in a custom battle. He's been playing much longer and much more experianced than I am. He's lvl 100 while I'm only lvl 14 and new to the game, yet all he does is get in a Leopard 2 or Abrams and snipe me in my Tiger H1 from 2500 m away when I can't see him yet, 20 seconds after I spawn in. In aircraft battles, I'll spawn in a Bf-109 and I'll just randomly explode a minute later only to find out that he's in an F-14, killed me with a Phoenix, and never left the general area where his spawn is. He's obviously the better player with way better vehicals. But at least I'm the more mature person who can tolerate losing consistently to who I call "Maverick with the mental age of a 5 year old."
0:33 I have over 4000 hours in War Thunder and 90% of it is spent in ground rb. I barely ever used the commander sight and commander fire control. I feel like it is such a situational feature that it's pretty much useless. Just a nice gimmick on certain maps where you want to shoot over an obstacle. There are already so many things in this game that take up valuable keybinds, that spending a key on something that you will only use once every 20 matches, feels pointless.
@@Speed_198mphDepends on how you play the game. The Wolfpack is faster and should be used as a flanker, while the Abrams does have more armor so it can brawl. I personally prefer the Abrams
There are some very sparse cases when it is useful, especially in high teir when your commander sight has more zoom than the gunner's in a sniping-type vehicle (cv90120 is a good example of this)
Jokes aside, this is indeed some important stuff for you newer players out there who bought high-top tier premiums. It will save you a lot of pain, if not at the expense of your IRL wallet. High-top tier also plays significantly faster than the lower BRs. In high-top tier Ground Battles, speed and precision is key. Potato reaction times usually get you killed, which is a combination of your skill/lack thereof and the vehicles you have, sometimes just one or the other and it's one thing to learn.
My RT is hampered by the lack of Oceana servers... 250-300 ping means I really really have to be on the ball and usually only come out with 2-3 kills and maybe a cap if I'm in a good spot
@@monaro34 I'm in the same boat, playing from the Philippines on all servers.
