- I share my experience with Honda, regarding the salary they would have offered me. I also discuss about the general salary range entry level Automotive Engineers can make and the tools you can use to find this data.

These are rough ballpark numbers. It could be more or less. But...
Engineer 1's are typically $55k-70K (Entry level 1-2 years)
Engineer 2 's are typically $70k-85K (Intermediate level 3-4 years)
Engineer 3's are typically $85k-100K (Junior level 5-6 years)
Engineer 4's are typically $100k-$120K (Senior from here on 7+ years) Becoming more of a specialist in your field.
Along side this, engineers will diverge later in their paths from the role of an engineer to being a "Subject matter expert (Specialist)" or a "Manager/Operations Logistics" .
From their the salaries can really get up there. Almost reaching to $200K.

@@johndanielberador8884 I failed so many exams in university, and I studied for weeks at a time. Engineering is difficult. If it were easy, everyone would be an engineer haha. We learn from our mistakes and it makes up better as engineers.

I'm glad you're taking an interest in automotive engineering! There's a ton of reference material out there, but I will be making a future video regarding this question.
But if there was only one book that you could have, and I know money is tight, you should get "Machinery's Handbook, large print for easier reading" also, any edition will do. You don't need the newest addition. Find this book used if you can.
But this book has almost every aspect of engineering, and is a summarized version of a Mechanical engineering program.

Since you have this desire to study engineering, I wouldn't let your "lack of creativity" stop you. You can always learn how to be creative by watching videos of other individual's works, and seeing designs that inspire your own design.
If you wanted to create the outside look of a car, you would probably study "Industrial Design" or something similar to that. But as engineers, we design the structures of these body panels, and are given reference geometry to work with. We are always working with a team, so you can apply your best skills on a project where it's needed.
I don't think you need to be "artsy" creative, if you are, the better you could be at picturing the end result of designs. But I think engineering "creativity" is more like...."wow that was a creative way to design this part that fits well within the scope of the project." Sorry if that analogy didn't help hah.
My point is, you shouldn't let this stop you!
This was a really good question because I always drew cars as a kid, so I have this "artsy" side of me while being an engineer.

Hey brother! I'm currently just done with my 12th.. And I'm planning to take up Btech in Mechanical engineering then after 4 years I was planning of specializing in automobile engineering .. I hope it's the right to get into automobile sector..I'm kinda confused if I should take up design or R&D tho.. Like I like both of them n I wanna get into Evs so yeah.. Could take your advice on it.. Also which place is better for higher studies amongst Germany, USA and Canada?

Not sure what "Btech" is, but just go for mechanical engineering like you said. Go with an accredited engineering program, like ABET for the USA. Design and R&D (Research and Development) are kinda the same. So it seems to me that you're interested towards design in general....so stick with what you think is right for yourself.
Most, if not all auto manufacturers, are going to EV in some way....so I think that's a great area to study and develop your electrical engineering skills if you're interested in EV.
Regarding the location for studying, honestly...that becomes a personal preference. Where do you want to live? What's the cost of living and tuition? Do you need to be sponsored? I think in general, the USA and German are known more for automotive....so I would go with those two options. But you still need to do a lot more research.

What path should I go down? I can take the mechanical engineering classes required, however I also want to learn all the parts and know how to build them. This is a personal question, and It's up to you to decide.
But I always wanted to be an engineer since high school. I thought about being a mechanic/tech and going to college for engineering part time, but I saw most of the younger guys there, who had the same idea as me, were content with being a technician.
You may get caught in a routine where you keep telling yourself you'll go to college to finish and be an engineer, but may just keep pushing that back.
If you have a desire to work in the automotive industry as an engineer, go to a university. You can always mess with a project car and learn everything about a car and it's parts along the way. Join FSAE or BAJA too! Those are great clubs that will get you that hands on experience of design, fabrication, and testing on vehicles!
Though, you can can always go back for engineering if you decide to go to a technical school...but from what I've seen, most of those guys just stay as a technician. They're making money, some have a family, settled down, and it's hard to start back up with university and be in an academic mindset.
That's my thought process on going to either tech school or college, but you've gotta determine this yourself.
Either way, stick with a decision and try not to regret anything. You made a choice, and at the time, it felt right for you. So whichever choice you go with, I'm sure you'll be fine!

It would seem logical. Since an automotive engineer would know every single part in a car. If you have the knowledge about the parts in cars then it would be much easier to diagnose repair or modify any gas powered car. I would also look into electric cars since they will be the future of cars.

I kinda see mechatronics 1st hand, so I can somewhat speak about this. Mechatronics is a fairly new industry compared to the traditional engineering degrees. With the rise of EV and alternative fuels, there are a lot of mechatronic engineers coming up...which is a good thing, but it may be saturated? I'm not sure, this is all speculation.
I believe sometime in the future, we will have a need for mechatronics engineers because the rise of EV and Hydrogen Celled cars on the horizon. Technology will get better, and we may have a need for both electrical and mechanical engineers in one. AKA, Mechatronics haha.
But what you should study for graduate school is completely up to you.
Do you like design? Do you want to go more towards Electric Vehicle research or electronics? Once you determine where you want to go, you've answered your own question haha.
Kinda vague I know, but this is completely up to you!

I'll keep that topic in mind! I've been pulled in so many directions the past few months that I haven't had time for this channel.
But overall, if something is new to you...it's scary right? So we're uncomfortable with the unfamiliar topic and it's frustrating when we fail on multiple attempts at a subject. I've been there. I had to really work my ass off to understand engineering subjects. So I feel for you and others out there who are struggling with new and challenging engineering content.
Keep pushing through difficult coursework, and if you keep stumbling, try a different method of learning. Whatever that may be....but II'll try to get something in the works because school has started back for universities.

This is a great question, because I was average in math. I didn't even get to calculus in high school.
If you really want to develop and improve your mathematics skills to be an engineer, here's the pathway for the mathematics we take.
If you don't understand calculus, it's okay...you will, but you need to take pre-calculus.
Pre-Calculus, Algebra
Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry
(Now the main engineering mathematics)
Calculus 1
Calculus 2
Calculus 3
Differential Equations
Linear Algebra (Maybe, depending on school)
Now do your research as far as which topics to study in each course, because there are about 8 topics we discuss in each course.
For example, Calculus 1 involves:
Limits and Continuity
Derivatives: Definition and Basic Rules
Chain Rule
Applications of Derivatives
Analyzing Functions
Integrals
Etc. (Some of the topics for Calc 1)
To learn all of these classes, I would recommend "Professor Leonard" on TH-cam, he helped me out through my college days, and all of his lectures are free.
You can learn every single subject I just mentioned with his channel!
Good luck, and don't let the mathematics scare you. If you're determined enough to study engineering, you can always learn and improve your engineering knowledge!
you taking about 60-70k salary, dude right now I work at a store part time making 12 in hours. full time that's like 25k a years. I taught when starting you will make around 40k and then move up.

Right now, if you're interested in automotive, there is a huge push for EV, hydrogen cells, and other alternative fuels.
I would study up on alternative fuels, and go in that field. There's a lot of exciting new development that I can't really speak of, but it's a fun time to be in the EV and alternative fuel sector right now!

Do you need to know a lot of math in order to become an automotive engineer? What kind of math do you need?
Hey Sulym,
To be an engineer, you need to understand calculus 1-3 and differential equation as a bare minimum. And these are just the foundation mathematic classes. But once you're in the automotive industry....the amount of mathematics you use varies.
For example, if you're doing a lot of flow simulation, you'll use more mathematics compared to a quality engineer. It just depends on where you end up.
I use about 35% of the stuff I learned in school, so I use a lot less of the higher level mathematics...which I kinda miss to be honest haha.
Most of the math I use on a daily basis doesn't go past calculus 1. Very simple calculations. And you'll see that in engineering, we want to simplify problems we come across to make it easier for everyone.

I'm sure there are automotive companies in Canada. For example, Honda has a facility in Alliston, ON, Canada. There's plenty of opportunities in Canada. Also I believe close to the Detroit, Michigan border, a lot of automotive activity is there.

I get paid bi-weekly, so I receive two checks a month.

Becoming a "good automotive engineer" is a definition you must decide for yourself.
But assuming you're in FSAE/BAJA, taking relevant classes like Aerodynamics, etc., and are decent in
CAD...
I would say...being able to adapt efficiently to any unknown situation helps make you a better engineer. Learning new systems in a timely manner to get your designs tested and released.
Understand that we don't know everything, but being an engineer allows us to learn new things in a different approach. We see the world a bit different than most people, and I think if you can adapt better than most people...you'll be a good engineer.
Also, one of my mentors told me this "Just be nice, and opportunities will come your way." So being friendly and having a good attitude also helps!

@@mohammedsami8521 I hear you, man. I was in a similar situation. Middle class, family made "too much "money for any aid from the government. I had to get a good job to help my family. I understand your frustration.
The truth is, some people have a difficult time finding work...even as an engineer. I applied to multiple companies and finally got 1 job interview. So I know it's a stressful time.
I was lucky enough to have a good support group that could take my mind off of things when everything was going south. But with their help and my perseverance, I was able to land an interview and get a job.
Maybe find a strong support group who will take your mind off the bullsh!t we face everyday? (Go do the things that are fun to you. Gaming, biking, etc. Clear your head from time to time.)
Just keep applying, write cover letters, upload portfolios of your design work. Network/connect with your piers and company employees if you have "career fairs" or what not. Show companies that you are serious. You'll get something. Even if your first job is something you dread, as least you have "real world" experience.
From there, you can apply to a different company. And I've seen that it is kinda easier to get a new job once you have work experience....this isn't the case all the time, but once you get your feet wet, you can make it!
So, Mohammed...I hope this helped a little. There's no one good quick answer for this question. It's going to be difficult, but nothing good ever comes easy. Keep your head up, and push forward!

Absolutely there are opportunities in Canada. If you're referring to automotive...close to Detroit, Michigan, there's a lot of collaboration before America and Canada.
There are also Auto OEM facilities in Canada if you wanted to work for an OE.

If you are referring to job offers, I can't speak to employment offers outside of the USA, but in general...German, Japanese, and American companies in the USA are similar across the board.
[My experience] For example in the USA, Honda (Japanese Company) had a similar job offer as Daimler (German Company). 4 weeks PTO, good healthcare and other benefits. Similar working hours, 40 hours, and some overtime.
So I believe it's really up to you and what company you want to work for. Go with the company you see yourself working better in.
I hope this helped. I know it's kinda vague, but it truly depends on your views for that company.

Working for Toyota would be an awesome opportunity! From my experience, it's a little harder to work there, whereas, at Honda...they have more positions listed...translating to more opportunities.
I would also go with Toyota if I were you. They have Engineering facilities all across the USA, so choose your pick haha. Toyota would be a great company to work for if you're interested in the automotive industry!
